IT IS FINISHEEDDDDD!!!

Fronds. Fronds, please understand that this book saved my life in 2022, and I am SO PROUD that the cover turned out EXACTLY how I wanted. It took me two tries (always check that your ink is permanent 🙃) but I love it so much.

If you have not read THE WATCHMAKER OF FILIGREE STREET by Natasha Pulley, and you like soft, historical love stories with hints of magic and clockwork octopi, I highly recommend.

A lacy blouse I've made from a thrifted dress.

I've already worn it a few times since finishing it and it's super comfy and the sleeves are just adorable, be it on their own or peeking under my coat sleeves. my only issue is that since I'm quite tall the blouse is quite cropped on me so I've found it's best worn over dresses or under tank tops or sweater vests.

the lace was damaged in a few spots since this is a second hand item but I've mended it and so far it's holding up quite well. I'm also quite happy with how little fabric waste remained after I made the sleeves from the skirt. maybe I'll make a matching choker from the leftovers later.

People don’t understand the concept of liking two characters’ relationship in multiple contexts. They can be lovers in one setting and just friends in another, their dynamic doesn’t have to be consistent in every piece of art I make.

ok not to be that guy but like. labor rights and working class rights can coexist with 24h services and late amenities. its certainly hard to do so without worker exploitation in this political and social environment, it’s not a conflict likely to resolve overnight. but 24h services are important and especially valuable to those of us that are disabled or are on a different circadian rhythm. in fact more professional, health, and government services should be available or at least possible to work on asynchronously (if applicable) during late or odd hours, while workers also get sufficient pay for their labor and proper consistent scheduling. this would be much easier on the workers with night schedules if the entire professional world didn’t grind to a halt at 5pmEST

Honestly I can tell you finding out art was made by AI really does immediately, legitimately sour it for me, like people will trot this out as a Gotcha for anti-AI people but it's just making it clear they don't consider art to be the conversation that it is lol. It's similar to the way Harry Potter immediately soured for me because engaging with it while knowing the kind of heart Rowling is writing from changes the way the work feels; there isn't any moralizing or whatever that I have to do, it's easy to drop it because it's rotted in my hands.

"Oh but you LIKED this song before, nothing changed!" The conversational partner did. A very large portion of what is interesting to me about art is thinking of why the creator chose that instrumentation, or what made them want to make the thing in the first place. Finding out I've been talking to a wall completely removes an entire third of the force that art is to me, and I can't argue that anything about art or its consumption is Objectively Correct but I can argue it's fucking boring lmao
