She walks by riverbanks to pick up mudcrabs. This girl spends so much time with her shoes off and her pants/skirt hiked up to waddle around in the river, just picking up fish n such. She has jars of live fish in her bag that she carried around very carefully. They're her babies and she puts them in tanks when she gets home.

She's just generally interested in bugs and stuff, she'd try to raise a chaurus if the entire group didn't veto it.

She's constantly getting sick, and Xelzaz has his work cut out for him in that regard.

She teaches herself the lute and drum while The Gang™ is walking around Skyrim

i have pretty severe adhd comorbid with bipolar disorder, which i do my best to mask - yeah yeah, i know you're not supposed to, but i doubt i'll ever truly shake the shame, especially given the things i've done as a result of failing to mask, both online and irl (the latter being much, much worse) - so i've resolved to do it for the rest of my life

i did talk a little bit about what i was like on my main blog here, which you might need for context:

(speaking of which, please don't actually follow or even go to my main blog just because you like this one - i'm 100% fucking serious. i'm a very different person over there to the point of being almost unrecognisable, even to myself - and i guarantee that side of myself wouldn't recognise me either; we're like two parts of a very fucked up whole. so for that reason i want to keep these two blogs separate; like i said, i'm bipolar, so that's where i let the venom out, and when i feel joyful again, i come back here. i'm more active here anyway, to the point where i basically consider this my main blog now - i mean, my bio isn't even up to date over there)

no, i didn't ever interact with any of them; but just lurking on their blogs and reading their posts helped normalise what i was going through when i felt so alone after receiving my diagnosis; though it was always in the back of my mind that maybe a year earlier i would've seen those same posts and done my level best to make them feel like shit for it just for the sake of a little dopamine hit

Random Gotham Rogues Headcanons

(In honor of all the wonderful people who wanted more after my last post, yes I see y’all)

*Jonathan has a huge sweet tooth, the poor bastard didn’t try sugar until he was like 12 and eats candy like it’s his last meal.

*He’ll forget he needs food to live for way too long and eat a gallon of ice cream or some shit that’ll give any sensible man heart palpitations and just be like “😐👍”.

*Selina tells the newer rogues she was raised by cats to freak them out, Jervis still believes her. (Tbf, Selina does walk around with a cat tail on hissing at people and purring on their laps, I don’t blame him).

*Edward has a tiktok account that he made to fule his own ego, he’s a fragile little shit, literally all of his hate comments have video responses (as you can imagine, Edward gets A LOT of hate comments).

*One time a teenager called Edward “submissive and breedable” and he was too baffled to make a clap back.

*The Rogues have a surprising amount of stans. Ivy’s fan base consists mostly of lowly simps, Joker gets stopped on the street daily by greasy redditors and zealous scene kids.

*No one likes Joker, he thinks it’s because he’s “Batman’s favorite” (it’s not).

*For a while Joker has been insistent that he fucked Bruce Wayne once at one of his many parties, no one believes him except for Harvey (begrudgingly).

*He says it’s “Perfectly in character for Bruce” as much as he may hate it.

*Selina denies everything.

*Oswald and Jonathan share solidarity as “the weird bird people”. At first Oswald was a little put off that Jonathan only held knowledge of crows but soon got over that when he realized that now he had an excuse to infodump on someone who might actually be interested.

*Every time Jonathan visits Oswald’s aviary to pick up Nightmare and Craw Oswald jumps at the opportunity to talk about his numerous birds in excess, Jonathan’s a surprisingly good listener.

*Despite Edward and Joker’s long term rivalry Edward has remained relatively civil when faced with Joker’s constant egging on. That is until one iconic day in Arkham Asylum when Edward beat the absolute, ever loving shit out of Joker in the cafeteria. To this day no one knows what exactly got him to snap, not even Joker.

*Harley keeps a scrapbook about all her misadventures + friendships as a rogue, she has a habit of taking pictures of the others at the most inappropriate times (during a heist, while being beaten to a crisp by Batman, ex).

*One time Harley asked Batman to pose for a picture to put in her scrapbook, he obliged to everyone’s surprise.

*Edward is wholly insistent that he doesn’t belong in Arkham, and is convinced he’s completely sane. He’s weirdly obsessed with the fact that Oswald is sane “as well” and will make unprompted snide remarks like: “Blackgate sounds terrific, unfortunately I’ve been misplaced among MORONS, it’s a shame that the system is too incompetent to properly judge my un-categorizable psyche.”

*Oswald usually responds with a simple “🙂👍” or “ok” to avoid conflict, disagreeing with Edward could be catastrophic.

*Art therapy is an occupational hazard for all the Arkham staff. (Seriously, who thought giving super villains an outlet to express themselves was a good idea).

*Edward can’t draw so he spends his time harshly criticizing the other rogues art, that’s caused more than a few fights. The one time Edward’s ever actually done art in art therapy was when he drew a green triangle and explained in complex detail how he colored it to perfection.

*Jonathan is no longer allowed to share his art with the group before having it reviewed by a staff member after emotionally scarring a few patients. He’s one of the few rogues who presents his art every time, just to see the disturbed looks on the others faces when he explains whatever twisted art piece he came up with this time.

*Jervis is probably the most dedicated artist of the bunch, he‘s not allowed to make himself any hats (for obvious reasons) but he’s still a very skilled seamstress and has a very interesting art style (Jervis tries not to draw anything explicitly linked to Alice in Wonderland in fear of getting repercussions, as rogues often do when they engage with their ‘personas’).

*Harvey isn’t very technically skilled in drawing, but Harv usually spices their art up enough to make it interesting. Their drawings are always two themed, as expected. One time Edward criticized a painting of theirs for being “too unrealistic” and Harv had to manually restrain himself from kicking Edward in the teeth.

*Victor can’t draw either, but he writes pretty good poetry. His writing is excessively melodramatic and flowery, and his themes even more so. Half of the presentation period is spent listening to Victor muse about the meaning of life or some shit, his poems are VERY long.

*Waylon and Ivy are the obligatory pretentious painters, both have a fondness for flowers (for very separate reasons). The two will often compare their paintings and wax poetics about the beauty of nature or some bullshit before never speaking again. That’s one of the positives of Art therapy, it brings rogues together who would otherwise not grant each other a passing glance.

*Group therapy is just as (if not more) atrocious than Art therapy.

*The only one who ever talks is Joker (and sometimes Harley, but way less).

*Joker is the embodiment of an irl troll, he does a much better job at getting responses from the other rogues in therapy than the therapists ever could (usually hostile responses but still).

*Occasionally a new and bright eyed therapist will try and coax childhood memories out of the rogues, it never ends well (usually with the rogue or the therapist in hysterics).

*The majority of the Arkham staff are either terribly unqualified or terrible period.

*Music Meister lived with Edward for a short while after escaping Arkham together but he was promptly kicked out because he wouldn’t stop singing.

*Selina and Ivy had a huge argument once because Selina’s cats nibbled on Ivy’s plants.

Okay this post is all ready super long so I’m gonna end it here, as I said last time I can always make more if you guys like these (I’m not running out of headcanons anytime soon!)

On receiving questions about your OCs (or not receiving). Please don’t take it personally. I love my OCs, I love being asked about my OCs and I love when people tell me about theirs.  But if someone puts up a prompt all ‘ask me anything about my OCs’, I have NO idea what to ask, and this is usually because the person in question has never really done anything for me to know even a little bit about the OCs. 

If you want people to be engaged with your characters enough to want to know more you HAVE to give them a little something first. If I’ve got nothing to work with I don’t even know where to begin asking about anything.  I’m someone who does tend to get questions and comments about mine but I also share a lot about them too, through photo stories and even just pictures with captions and descriptions. It’s safe to say most of my followers have a good grasp of their basic personalities and circumstances so if I have invited questions they’ll probably be related to what I’ve shared from those who would like to know more. 

 But if all I know is that your doll is X sculpt and has X coloured hair and wears X fashion, I either can’t think of a single question broad enough for you to begin with, or I can only think of very banal questions that can’t be fun for you to answer. I realise some people are self conscious about info dumping about their OCs and often use these question prompts as an excuse to do so, so here is my permission (which you didn’t need, by the way!) to talk more about your OCs unprompted.

 Make those photo stories. Put those facts in your image descriptions. Hey, maybe it would be cool if someone made an OC photo prompt thing like the daily photo challenges where you could post a photo related to a prompt with some new info every day - that way you’re participating in a challenge and it might not feel as much like you’re infodumping.  Sorry this is so long! I struggled for a long time with keeping my OCs to myself but wishing people would care about them and finally stopped giving a damn about feeling ‘cringe’ - and discovered people care -more- about them than if I sit around waiting for them to do the work and ask me specific things.   Good luck to everyone! Logan had a lot of… habits, Roman personally wouldn’t classified them as bad or good except when he forgets to eat because yeah, that’s bad.

For example, sometimes he would infodump as Remus named it. Out of nowhere is he was excited enough he would start telling facts and facts about something in general, which most of the times drove everyone crazy, except Roman.

Like that time he ranted two hours about erasure of LGBT+ history, Sor Juana was a lesbian Patton! Poor Patton didn’t even know who Sor Juana was, but it was pretty, euphoric, if someone asked him.

Another habit of his was to yell, which wasn’t even on purpose, sometimes Roman thinks that he either yells in order to be heard or he has a hearing problem that Logan has been ignoring for a long time it’s a little bit of both. Sometimes when he got overexcited about something he was passionate, his volume would get higher and higher until he was practically yelling. Neither of the six told him to lower his voice, but sometimes they would wince because, well, there was a person screaming next to them.

Like that time he finally understood some physics formulas, and he was practically yelling on Janus scarred side and, it was so easy I can’t believe it took me so hard, can you believe? On Janus credit he tried very hard not to wince, but his scarred side was pretty sensible, so he ended up flinching away the sound for a few seconds and Logan mumble an apology and lowered his voice.

Another thing he had, and this one he shared with Remus, was the infinite knowledge on weird facts.

“Ants don’t have lungs.” he would say, out of nowhere completely unprompted, and then continue either studying or doing whatever he was doing. Remus did it to, sometimes, and they shared those moments and Roman’s heart melted at the fact that his boyfriend and brother were practically best friends.

He stimmed a lot, too. Mostly the constant shaking of his right (always the right, for some reason) leg, the nibbling of the tip of the pens and pencils, the clickclickclic on the table when he was studying for any test, even if it wasn’t important. Sometimes it crashed with Virgil’s own stimming at the rhythmic sound of pens and taps taps of sneakers against the floor was comforting, for some reason. It’s your own stimming, Janus said, and he was probably right.

So, yes, Logan had some odd habits the group of friends were nice, they never made Logan feel shame of bad about it, except for one tiny.

He was very competitive.

And not only that, he was a competitive jerk who could cheat in pretty much every board game, “I’m not cheating.” He would say, with his poker face while hiding three cards under the table and knowing which card had everyone.

“Looks like I one, again.” He said, carefully as he put the red two over the bunch of uno cards.

“You’re cheating again!” Patton yelled, whining and pointing and him.

“Prove it.” He retorted, the jerk, with a smirk on his face as he grabbed the money on the table.

“God you’re so fucking cute.” Roman interrupted the argument before it even started, “I fucking love you, do you know that?”

Logan’s cheeks went pink, as he smiled, “I love you too, but you still owe me two dollars.”

Yes, Roman loved Logan with all his heart, including his habits.

ok you know what fuck it i AM gonna infodump unprompted about the au mostly because i tried to draw it but i was bad at it so all i can do is write.

I do kinda have a story for it, but it’s still in the works. Just know that Ghost got summoned to Earth to collect all of the shattered and missing time pieces that used to belong to the Pale King (the CEO of Time). Hornet is trying to stop them and steal all the time pieces first.

Each chapter in the game is a mix of multiple hollow knight areas. Like for example, chapter 3 is a mix of deepnest and the ancient basin right now. i’m still working on those.

The characters is what I’ve been paying most attention to though. Ghost is whatever species Hat Kid is, and is called Mask Kid! Hornet is half of whatever species hat kid is, and half ??? (i haven’t decided what Herrah is yet)

Quirrel is an express owl! Tiso is also a bird, but a custom one. He’s a type of jay. Cloth is a moon penguin. The moths will most likely be nomads/goats. Or owls (not express owls specifically) because some moths do look like owls, and also the idea of owlet Marmu is my favorite. And if Grimm actually is a fucked up moth, him being a fucked up owl would make sense! WAIT I JUST REALIZED he could also be a fire spirit! The Conductor is headcanoned to be part fire spirit after all.

The soul master is a cat. how could he not be a cat? look at those cat ears! Lurien and everyone who was in the Watcher’s Spire are human, like the mafia. Since the City of Tears has taken the place of Mafia Town.

Monomon is either mostly unchanged, or a seal. The little jellyfish are now her seals! She does not talk in owo speak that’s only the other jellyfish. Also it’s very cold, Fog Canyon is now the Arctic Cruise.

The metro is a huge mix of things I didn’t know where else to put. But at the center of it, surrounded by trains, is the Colosseum. God Tamer cat!!!! She is a metro cat. Very funny that Tiso goes there because the majority of the inhabitants are cats, and he’s a bird.

Shit I just realized what’ll happen to the Soul Master if he’s the boss of chapter 1. Oh no. It’s ok he probably deserves it.

That’s most of the ideas I have now, I am open to suggestions and I would love to talk more about it! It’s very fun.

Oh also! I do have an au where it is a hat in time as hollow knight but it doesn’t have as much detail put into it. But Vanessa is going to be a spider and traps people in webs instead of freezing them. Also we decided she was corrupted by void too. And also Bow, Hat, and Timmy are vessels. If I was a bit more evil, Timmy would be a broken vessel :(

- This isn't exclusive to autism but it is a common comorbidity and I think we can all agree that Barry has anxiety right? Like Griffin just straight-up said that he's always nervous (with a small measure of hyperbole, but still)

- Anyway despite having a lot of anxiety and general social awkwardness I think he's definitely an extrovert! It's just that for him being around other people doesn't necessarily mean being the center of attention or the life of the party. I think he's a lot more comfortable with small groups that he knows very well (so basically the Starblaster fam)

- When people first meet Barry they think he's shy because he's quiet bordering on silent, but when he gets to know someone? He's very talkative. Catch him infodumping about magiscience for an hour

- Ooh about talking? His spooky scary lich speeches were definitely pre-scripted, which is why they flow so well. Usually in the moment he's a lot more rambly. I could see him really taking comfort in the idea of putting on a role to deal with the strange, upsetting situation he found himself in

- ALSO about talking (and again, this isn't just an autism thing but it's definitely common) @umbraastaff writes Barry with a stammer and I fell in love with that concept immediately, so. That's part of this headcanon web now too

- I could see him having a hard time verbalizing emotions?? Idk why it just makes sense to me. He tries to talk about how he's feeling and the words won't happen, or they don't make much sense. His family members usually get it though cause they've had lots of practice interpreting his stumbling explanations

- You know what, tbh I think his trouble with identifying emotions is at the point of alexithymia

- His volume control is Shit!! Occasionally he'll get loud without realizing it when he's excited/upset but more often, he's too quiet and has to be reminded to speak up. It's not an expression of sadness, it's just hard for him to intentionally project (it's also partially a sensory thing, he feels like he's shouting when he speaks at a normal volume)

- The exception to the above, of course, is when he's Acting Like A Lich because you always have to project in theatre and you know exactly how loud you need to be, generally speaking

- Oh btw Barry Bluejeans? Hyperlexic. He learned to read when he was like three but no one knew for a while because he wouldn't talk until he was four, at which point he started just speaking in full sentences unprompted

- He also speaks a lot of languages and I think that was one of his earlier special interests, before he got super into magiscience

- Why Does He Wear Bluejeans All the Time? onlookers wonder. I Just Think They're Neat, Barry responds elusively, which really means "tight pants are the worst sensory-wise, so baggy jeans became the default - also wearing the same kind of clothes every day is a very comforting routine"

- He likes swimming in a cold lake on a hot day because the intense temperature change feels good and stimmy!! He also chews ice because nice and cold and crunchy

- When it gets to be fall he stomps on all of the crunchy leaves they sound and feel so nice ! But he hates squishy noises a lot, crunch is where it's at

- He spins/paces in circles and also clicks his tongue a lot when he's thinking (He also does the thinking out loud thing, because what the fuck is a consistent internal monologue? Tbh his voice-recording coin was helpful to Future Barry but also to Present Barry who's trying to process thoughts and tasks and such)

- One of his calm-down stims for things that are mildly upsetting is snapping his fingers next to his ears. When he's very upset by something snapping doesn't quite cut it so he slowly shakes his head/rocks instead

- He likes to be upside down (he probably also likes fantasy roller coasters a lot)! It just feels good! Just the right amount of disorienting!

- While he can get tossed around like a sack of potatoes and not be the slightest bit nauseated, a single bite of food that's the wrong texture has him gagging

- He eats mostly crunchy food because fuck slimy and mushy food, and he also tends to eat very bland food because he's quite sensitive to flavor

- When he's nervous he bites his nails, chews on his fingers, and/or cracks his knuckles a lot

- Shbsjsbjdndjd this is kind of dark but what if... ajabsibsisbdidbdif what if he made the Animus Bell a bell because he has a thing for bells, he likes to collect them and ring them because it's stimmy. Not after Wonderland!! Sorry Bluejeans, ruined that one for you lmao

one: skeppy, i am so sorry a mf does this to you. but seriously, i can only think of a few reasons (that dont sound entirely made for fanfic) that bad keeps putting off meeting skeppy 

1. (the most unlikely) theyve already met and they keep the bit going so the fans dont find out. i can get that they wouldnt want to tell at first because its their own business, but i seriously doubt they would wait very long to confirm it, because ppl honestly can put a lot of pressure and hype on the meetup (esp with skeppy’s “surprise”) so i think theyd release something just so everyone knew that it finally happened! they didnt lie!

2. bad just doesnt want to meet skeppy (actually nvm this is the most unlikely) 

bad seems to be genuinely excited to meet skeppy, even claiming skeppys the one to keep putting it off, not him (which skeppy immediately disproved but) and saying over and over he wants to meet up with him, but always avoiding actually making plans (every single tweet about the meetup) so its clear he does want to meet skeppy eventually, which makes trying to figure out why he wont even harder

3. its not the right time/ waiting for a specific date

leading up to this, i was thinking that there was a pretty good chance theyd meet up on their anniversary, but that never happened rip. the issue is with this is that they guaranteed they would meet up before the end of the year, and at this point theres only one “event” left, but they still dont seem to have any plans to meet. if bad was waiting for the perfect time to do it, why not just tell skeppy to confirm a meetup date? it would get him (and maybe the fans, if they told them) off his back. another variant of this is that there is a set date, but they havent told the public, but again, skeppy seems to be just as much in the dark about this as everyone else

4. health issues 

bads apparently been feeling pretty under the weather lately, with his arm and kidney stones, its very plausible (and reccomended, imo) that bad doesnt want to travel when hes having these problems. of course, skeppy could visit, but he could either not want to spend their time together sick or the plans they have could also be too straining. i think this is probably one of the most likely atm, go see a doctor bbh im begging you

5. bads nervous

this is also one of the more plausible to me. for whatever reason, bads just anxious about it, whether it wont be the same as talking online, or be super awkward or whatever, he could just keep putting it off for that (its still weird and kinda doesnt make sense but in a more realistic way this time)

i know i totally went off track but this brings me to my point, skeppys kinda just waiting for bads confirmation at this point, so seeing his friends have fun meeting up is probably just lowkey depressing and i could see him using it as more the reason they should meet up. really the only thing he can do in this situation(at least, as far as i can tell) is what he has been doing, annoy bad about it or he take advantage of bads jealousy and meet up with someone else. the other option is to randomly come to his house, but it doesnt seem like skeppy is gonna do that, maybe to respect his boundaries? if he was planning on it i think he wouldve done it by now

OKAY NUMBER TWO LETS GO

this kinda ties into my point in the “reasons why bad wont meet skeppy” thing, that bad seems really excited to meet him yet still wont?? its clear he really values any time spent with skeppy, but he also make sure skeppys having a good time too! that why he never does any actual work with skeppy around (i.e. building statues or gathering materials for such), he knows its boring so instead theyll wander around the server telling stupid stories or punching each other off stairs for 20 minutes. im sure itll be the same irl, he mentioned wanting to meet somewhere like a nature reserve or amusement park, probably to make sure theres never a dull moment or time wasted. dinner seems much more low-key, and i wouldnt be surprised if bad just wanted to have an excuse to try and impress him with a nice totally-platonic date

they really do be the best of friends! ive noticed that skeppys def been trying to halt arguments fairly quickly now, saying a lot to appease bad and move on, and while bad seems to like to start fights for fun, hes also been a lot more chill lately, im guessing because hes been oh-so desperately missing skeppy and big s was also in Baby mode (aka if bad disagreed with him hed probably just cry until he got his way((sand))) i think that vid just showed them being a lot more natural and happy to talk (plus bad usually is more argumentative when theyre competing, while in that vid they were either just hanging out or working towards a common goal)

where to even BEGIN with discount skeppy. well, bad actually first came up this idea a few months ago, in either july or august on an idots smp stream when he crafted an ‘artificial skeppy’ in his snack shack that he could talk to whenever skeppy was gone. as we all know idots smp is now rip, but the idea of replacement skeppys remained, just this time they can talk and also ship skephalo. it actually seemed like more of puffys idea at first when she put on skeppys skin as a joke, which bad didnt like the first few times, but when she brought it up again he actually requested it (missing skeppy brainrot 🤔?) this could be either cuz bad wanted to bait some shippers so gave in or he thought it was a pretty funny bit so went along with it (or he actually missed skeppy that much.. surely not ??) either way i think we can agree puffy is not only a comedic genius but a top tier friend and slight wingman, and getting some good jealous skeppy content out of it is also top tier. in conclusion, love and appreciate discount skeppy, badboyhalo has only skeppy on his brain and his friends have to deal with that, hoes (skeppy) mad even though the whole bit is how much bbh is into him

If I had a quirk, it would probably be the ability to shift into a mermaid since one of my hobbies is an art form known as mermaiding where I swim in a tail for fun. I'm an ENTJ (if you don't know what that means, look into mbti it's fascinating). I like researching, biking, swimming, history, and owls. I can and will infodump about the last two completely unprompted and apologize profusely for talking someone's ear off. People tell me I have a weird but adorable laugh which comes out easily because I think everything is funny. I also speak English and French and I want to learn ASL. Because of my sensory sensitivities, I have to rest a lot (not like napping but just staying in my room and not doing anything too taxing for a day or two) which is called a shutdown. I try to make sure I shutdown as soon as I notice my overload is high because the other way to release is a lot more painful. If I suddenly peak or if I don't shutdown in time, I have a meltdown which looks like an anxiety attack but is more painful and loud. Meltdowns can last a few minutes or a couple of hours. When I did public school, I would often miss days to shutdown because school was sensory hell, but I didn't fall behind because of the fast learner thing. I bring this up because my matchup would ideally be able to understand that I'm not ignoring them when I'm shutdown. [🦉] And they could also help me through a meltdown if one suddenly comes up (the type of assistance given by others, if any, can make or break the timespan of the meltdown greatly). On Coralians: An Infodump No One Asked For ✌

Please enjoy this big old wall of text explaining both the canon and my headcanons about how Coralians work and what bearing these headcanons have on my portrayal. There’s also some tidbits borrowed from the wiki for those not familiar with the universe. Sections have headings for when you inevitably don’t want to read the whole thing.

What is a Coralian?

Coralian is a catch-all term for any creature born of a plant-like intelligent alien life form called Scub Coral. The Scub Coral originally crashed into the Earth's atmosphere sometime in the 21st century. They survived a collision with an artificial satellite (named Eureka) and landed in the Pacific Ocean, fusing with the Ocean’s coral and eventually joining humans as a dominant species on planet Earth.

Tthe Scub Coral are capable of growing into an enormous size in the blink of an eye, which is one of the primary reasons humans fear them. Their tendency toward growth and expansion across the world causes tectonic shifts and disrupts the land regardless of the placement of things like cities and towns.  Their metabolic process produces a particulate matter called Trapar, much the same way plants release oxygen and humans exhale CO2. Trapar behaves like water or strong wind currents and is the basis for flight in both human technologies that use it as an energy source and in animals whose bodies have evolved to reflect it.

So They’re Like Corals but Also They’re...People? Sounds Dumb, Bro.

At this point I would like to emphasize something stated earlier: despite having a plant-like appearance, Scub Corals are an intelligent, conscious life form. Though they cannot speak in their natural form, Scub Corals are able to think and to reason, and every creature born of the Scub Coral has a connection to a central connected consciousness that encompasses all Coralians.

While most Scub Coral are plant-like in appearance, the Scub Coral eventually became capable of growing life forms that resemble types of fauna it has previously fused with. For example, the Scub creates dangerous fish-like creatures called anti-body Coralians to protect the control center of their consciousness from threat.

In much the same way, humanoid Coralians were eventually grown in order to bridge the gap between the Scub Coral and humankind. The purpose of these humanoid Coralians is to be a blank slate that can learn to communicate with humans and be impressed upon by them. Eventually that humanoid Coralian will return to the Scub Coral to relay what they learned.

That’s how creatures like Eureka, Sakuya, and Gonzy came to exist.

It’s also worth noting that Archetypes, the exoskeletons that the cool giant robots are built upon in this universe, are actually alive. Archetypes are the first failed attempts of the scub coral to create a humanoid being.

Traits of Coralians 

Hive Mind

So if these are all the same creature,  how is it that some are coral, some are kaijus, and some are people?  What do they all have in common? Well, for one, they all participate in the Coralian hive mind. In my portrayal, Eureka will have some level of awareness regarding will of her kind at all times.  She may not be actively thinking about it or asking about it, but it’s there.  Coralians do not want to be disconnected from their collective consciousness and humanoid Coralians in particular will become emotionally distressed if at any point that happens. Coralians need to exist in an interconnected group.

It is implied on multiple occasions that Renton has inadvertently accessed  some portion of this collective consciousness in the mine, where he hears Eureka’s voice in his mind when she needs help. He also has conversations with her in his dreams that she later recalls the details of when he is awake.

I have a lot of headcanons about the future utility of this trait--mostly that Coralians can form unions of consciousness with humans, but since humans aren’t built for that it’s not very reliable or constant the way it seems to be between Coralians. You probably couldn’t have a full on conversation with your Coralian friend who is across town, but you’d have no problem calling vaguely out to one another if there was trouble. You couldn’t reliably spend an hour cheating on a test together inside your brains, but you could have the best improv game in town. Maybe you can’t communicate the grocery list without calling one another but you might get the vague sense that you need milk at home. Your coralian friend might be able to accompany you unprompted if you broke out into a spontaneous musical. It’s a great party trick but it doesn’t suffice as a main mode of communication the way it does between coralians.  In general your coralian friend will be extremely adept at picking up on what you’re thinking compared to most people, but only because this method of connection was their first language in a way that is not true for humans.

Eyes

Not all Coralians need to be able to see, but those who have eyes all share the same distinctive eye type which differs from humans. Their eyes are invariably a purple color with a ring around the iris. These eyes are built to be able to see Trapar, a particulate matter that in large quantities is toxic to them. Naturally occurring Trapar is invisible to the human eye, but to a Coralian it takes on a luminescent greenish color that says STAY THE FUCK AWAY FROM ME. 

Wings

Speaking of Trapar, Eureka’s wings are designed not to be flapped against air currents like those of birds or insects. Rather, they are designed like the bodies of skyfish to reflect trapar and glide on top of it.

I honestly hc that she molts the outermost layer on those wings every month or so, the same way reflection film has to be changed on the ships and LFOs in order to keep flying on top of the trapar waves.

this is completely unprompted but i just feel like sharing my first impressions of mp100 cuz why not i made this blog to infodump i can do what i want. 

and honestly i read the whole thing about a year ago with very very little spoilers directly after watching the teaser for the anime so a lot of my reactions to the series were very raw and uninfluenced by anybody else’s opinion. i didnt even liveblog it i just read it. and im very glad that was how i read it and im just. reminiscing on that because im grateful that i did that back then.

mob

i first ever saw mob in some fanart that was tagged mob psycho 100 like. a good few years ago tbh. i figured it was some anime or manga i didnt get the time to read but mob first looked to me like he was a delinquent or something. the title and the way i thought abt the word “mob” in my head def had something to do with that, but also he was a straight faced boy who just seemed really seirous. i remember reading in an interview abt one punch man a bit over a year ago that ONE described saitama as stoic and mob as emotional. that. surprised the hell out of me and got me interested but i only read literally EXACTLY right after i saw the first teaser trailer for the anime

when i read the manga i fell in love with the boy right away. it didnt take me long at fucking all. he was great and wonderful and i loved him and i related to him big time and i wanted to see him grow more and more.

and my feelings are pretty much the same now except more complex. but im remembering the first time i got to the end of the world domination arc. i think that line “that’s why I will help you” really impacted me a lot for some reason. mob was, very special to me. he felt very much like me. i could relate to him a lot

reigen

i first saw reigen in some fanart but i thought he was some teenager at first because it was just some kinda cartoony fanart that wasnt very detailed. i guessed that he and mob were a duo or something like saitama and genos were from one punch but i did not guess that it was going to be a master-discible relationship

i hated reigen at first gonna be completely fuckin honest here i was a bit annoyed with him like yeah he was funny but he was also kind of rude??? and i didnt like that he was tricking mob because i loved mob 

by the end of the read he really did grow on me. but ive always been a bit hard on the poor guy, but thats just because hes an adult i suppose. even during the separation arc i have to admit.....i wasnt all that sympathetic toward him until the VERY VERY end. IF IM BEING ENTIRELY HONEST I WAS KIND OF GLAD BECAUSE I WAS GLAD THAT MOB REALIZED HE DIDNT NEED HIM AND THAT REIGEN REALIZED HE DID. also i felt he did deserve at least some of what he got from that arc, all things considered. dont get me wrong, i love him now but it did really take a while for me, probably longer than anyone else i know. now im love this greasman with my whole heart (but i still wish he would pay mob more. preoblematic fav for that reason only)

dimple

i knew that dimple was sort of the mascot character but i hoped he wouldnt be one of those annoying ones but i didnt think he would be since i had some faith in ONE’s writing abilities. he seemed like a ghost and i knew that mp100 had ghosts so yeah i thought it was cool to have a ghost character why not

lots of ppl were irritated by dimple at first but. ehhh i could never hate him. i only mildly disliked him before i realized he was That Guy. anyway i had been mostly neutral on dimple but by the mogami arc i actually really started loving dimple a lot because he saved mob a bunch of times and i support mob having friends i dont  care who they are i want this good boy to have friends

by the end i absolutely did love him i loved him and reigens interractions at that point but i didnt know if it was like. socially acceptable to ship him with reigen. i wouldnt have done it with sg dimple because i had no idea that was even a thing. i forgot abt that dumbass security guard he wasnt even a person in my mind honestly the first sg dimple fanart i came across i was so confused  i was like. who is this. who is this man dimples possessing. took me forever to realize it was that security guard who he possessed for probably less than an hour and that confused the hell out of me but then i realized. oh. u guys just want to make him hot. okay

ritsu

ritsu was probably the character i knew the most about, but i knew very little. i only saw him in opm/mp100 fanarts where they compared mob and ritsu to tatsumaki and fubuki, and i guessed that ritsu was the fubuki with the inferiority complex. and i was right but it wasnt it quite the same way. but overall he seemed interesting in that regard since i loved fubuki at the time so he was a character i was looking forward to.

ritsu was...it was love at first sight??? yeah. i loved ritsu so much right from the start i loved how he was introduced i loved his character arc i loved the whole way it was presented if the teru arc just before that hadn’t already hooked me then his arc sure as fuck did. 

the last line i ever saw ritsu utter when i finally caught up with the manga was the famous “hnn...the loans” line. perhaps one of the best lines of all time??? i loved ritsu and since i knew fuck abt shit wrt what was going to happen in the scar arc i was literally about to cry when it was revealed he might be dead god. i was SO STRESSED IN THAT WHOLE FUCKING ARC I DONT THINK I HAD EVER BEEN MORE STRESSED IN MY LIFE.

teru (oh boy)

i first saw teru in the first teaser. i think that was actually the thing that made me want to read it, mostly because the animation and movement in that scene just was so. good. and flowing. he seemed like a villain to me, or some sort of rival. but a harmless one. one that couldn’t fucking touch mob. it sort of reminded me of the thing w/ saitama vs sonic in opm. he seemed like an asshole, but for some reason in my heart when i saw him doing that shit there, i felt like i would like him. i had no basis for this. but i cant believe i was right

when i first saw teru in the manga i was gettin all excited because “hey this looks like the esper kid in the teaser!” and i was excited to see a new character like that introduced. i at least wanted to meet another esper. and teru seemed like the type of villain who would get his ass handed to him in the worst of ways and realize that mob was much much stronger than him and maybe hed even gain some respect for it and i fucking called it i cant believe it i called it in the first page i saw him i fuckign CALLED IT. and i was screaming throughout his whole arc. every second i found myself absolutely falling in love with him and. actually. unfortunately understanding exactly where he was coming from. and once mob went on the whole “you’re just like me” speech, that was probably the defining moment. 

but it didnt stop with that arc at ALL. every gotdam second he was on screen after that i was honestly thinking in my head “stop doing that ur gonna be my fav if u keep doing that!” but he kept doing that and wound up being my fav and i loved how much he believed and supported mob and i loved how different and yet how similar he was from the first time we see him and. i couldnt help myself hes my Type. i was destined to fall for him from the start

I HAD NO PREVIOUS INTRODUCTION TO SHOU BEFORE I READ THE SERIES. HE WAS NOT ANYONE TO ME. HE WAS NOTHING. which was why so much of the claw stuff surprised me tbh. but yeah i had no idea who this kid was i had not been introduced to him

when i first saw shou i disliked him for beating up ritsu and capturing him and mob and i also disliked him for calling mob a coward and THEN i disliked him for burning down mobs house and possibly killing ritsu and his family in fact by that point i was seeing red i wanted that fuckr DEAD. but then it was revealed that everyone was safe but i was still a bit peeved that he did what he did to mob just to leave a “fuse” but i was also projecting a bit because shou almost gave me a fucking HEART ATTAKC and i was NOT GOING TO EASILY FORGIVE. i did forgive tho. eventually. after my poor heart calmed down and i saw him get beat up by his dad and his hubris 

at the end i shipped ritshou because obviously i shipped ritshou i mean how can u not i mean theyre just really good i shipped it 

so like yeah
