Revolving Around You
Beefy!Natasha Romanoff x Fem!Reader
Summary: Your ex, Wanda Maximoff, invites you to her wedding. You have no reason to go, but find a reason to stay.
Word Count: 1.5K
Warnings: Tooth rotting fluff, alcohol consumption, and smoking weed
A/N: I really just wanted to write some Natasha fluff and I used the prompt [ wedding ] our muses are sat at the same table at a wedding for a mutual friend
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
You stared down at the invitation you had received from your long since ex, Wanda Maximoff, she'd be getting married soon. You really didn't talk much with Wanda anymore not since she got together with Vision, but when you did meet up and talk everything was fine.
You weren't expecting this though. Not this soon anyways as you stared down in shock at the lovely scarlet invite to their Spring wedding two months from now. Should you go? She sent the invite so obviously she wants you there, right? You grabbed your phone, scanning the QR code on the invite. It brought you to a page themed in such a way you could only assume it was their wedding theme. You checked off the box to RSVP. You held your breath after hitting send and even once the confirmation came through. Now you had to go through with it.
The ceremony was beautiful. Outside in the blossoming flower fields and apple trees of a rented out pasture. It honestly was a beautiful sight to behold. You'd gone wearing a light blue dress that fell at your mid thigh and a matching pair of open toed heels. Your hair in a half updo of a bun, the rest falling gracefully over your shoulders.
The reception itself was held in a renovated barn on the property. The table you were sitting at you knew no one. Well you didn't know anyone really at the wedding. You knew Wanda, Pietro, Vision, and the parents.
As everyone found their seats a raspy voice called out, “Looks like you're my seat mate for the next however many hours Wanda decides this reception should last.” Your head turned to see a red head, her hair in various braids. She wore a fitting suit that did absolutely nothing to hide all the muscles beneath the fabric. You could see her ear was covered in piercings along with her eyebrow and septum from the profile view you were currently getting. You couldn't help, but stare at the beauty sitting next to you. As you went to respond to the red head, she was shrugging off the suit jacket. The button up and tie she wore were almost the same as your dress. In fact if anyone were to give a quick glance they probably wouldn't be able to tell the difference. She hung the jacket on the chair. Turning towards you and as she rolled up her sleeves, revealing the double sleeves of tattoos on her arms.
“Wow…they're beautiful…” you meant to keep that thought in your head, but it slipped past your lips. A blush adorning your face as you turned away to hide.
“Well thank you pretty girl.” She leaned onto the table, all her attention on you as you downed your drink, suddenly feeling like you couldn't swallow. A chuckle falling past the redhead's lips. “I'm Natasha by the way, what's your name? Though I'll probably stick to calling you pretty girl with a reaction like that.” You looked over to see her smirking, another blush coming to your cheeks.
“Y/N…” you spoke quietly, but Natasha heard and tested it on her tongue,
“Y/N…hmmm I think that's a beautiful name that suits a pretty girl like you.”
A few hours into the reception you and Natasha are talking as if you've known each other your whole lives. Once the dance floor opens up after the first dance, Natasha holds out her hand. “Care to dance, pretty girl?” Her sultry voice finds your ears, sending a shiver through you. You don't speak a word, instead opting to just set your hand in hers. The way her hand held yours felt perfect, it felt right.
Her hand in yours, the other holding your waist as yours sat on her shoulder. She led the dance of you two and everything around you faded away. It was only Natasha. All you wanted to do was lean in and kiss the redhead, but you controlled yourself even though your head was swimming from the alcohol you've been consuming.
“You're, like, really handsome and beautiful.” You blurt out making her chuckle.
“Well pretty girl now that we've both said what we think about each other's appearance maybe we could go on a date outside of this wedding?” She offers cocking the pierced brow at you.
“Where do you live?” you slurred, looking up at her.
“New York.” Your eyes lit up, getting up closer to her face.
“Me too!” She smiled, leading you two outside the reception hall. Grabbing her jacket on the way out, setting it on your shoulders. The air had gotten cold now that the sun was down, but a bonfire was being lit by Vision's brother Tony and Wanda's brother Pietro.
You wanted to go over and get a seat, but Natasha had you against the wall. She wasn't holding you there, but she towered over you as she pulled you closer.
“Are you cold?” She asked in a low voice.
“Only a little. Your jacket is helping and your body heat...” Your voice trails off as you wrap your arms around her waist. You looked up at the redhead who took a hand to your cheek. Her thumb brushing gently over your skin.
“I could warm you up a bit more if you’d like?” You bit the inside of your lip, nodding your head as she pulled you against her, lifting you onto your tip toes as your lips brushed together. “Is this okay?” You didn’t answer verbally as you leaned up further to press your lips into hers. Your hands fisting her shirt and you were sure you wrinkled the fabric, but neither of you could bring yourself to care as you went from a simple kiss to her tongue swiping across your lip asking for entrance. When you opened your mouth for her and her tongue made its way into your mouth you realized she had a tongue piercing too, making you moan into her. She pulled you closer and didn’t pull away until you both were desperate for air.
She looked down at you with a satisfied smile. You knew you probably looked a bit hazy, the alcohol still swimming in your brain. You were normally much more reserved than this, but with everything that was happening you would have let Natasha take you right here in front of everyone and not cared one bit. Instead the two of you shared a handful of slow soft kisses as little whimpers and moans escaped you. It had been too long and you wanted her so badly, but one of your major rules was no sex on the first date and this wasn’t even a first date. This is a first meeting.
After Natasha had her fill with kissing you she pulled out a joint, flicking a lighter to it until you saw the paper start to burn, red glowing as she inhaled. As she exhaled she looked up towards the sky. You watched the cloud of smoke leave her lips, your jaw slack as you watched feeling a dampness pool between your thighs.
When Pietro came over he handed you a drink and asked if he could take a hit from Natasha who didn't mind as the two caught up. You stood there in awe, downing your drink, as the two went back and forth with the joint and with conversation.
Eventually the three of you made your way over to the bonfire. Wanda sat on Vision's lap as stories were told amongst friends and family. Natasha had sat down and practically mirrored Wanda when she pulled you to sit on her lap. You bit the inside of your lip as she held you against her, carrying on in her conversations. Your eye caught Wanda's, a knowing smirk on her face making you huff and look down.
“What's wrong pretty girl?” You felt Natasha's cheek press against your arm.
“Nothing…” you tried to lie, but she gripped your hip tight. A moan wanting to rip through you. “W-Wanda was looking…” you quietly admitted.
“Didn't the two of you date for a bit?” You nodded in response. “I'm surprised she let you go for someone like him.” Your head turned to face her. “Wanda's my best friend, but I think she's stupid for letting you go.” You felt your whole body go hot and a puddle between your thighs.
“T-thanks Natasha.” You spoke shyly, turning yourself more into her, burying your face against her. The alcohol was wearing off and you were getting tired without more being added into your system.
“Get comfy sweetie. I'm gonna keep talking with my friends.” Natasha's hand found your back, pulling you close. Her other arm hooking around your thighs to hold you there. You smiled against her. You thought this whole thing would be disastrous seeing your ex getting married, but meeting Natasha and getting to spend the whole evening together. Getting to kiss her and her just holding you in her arms. You hadn’t felt this happy or this secure in...you couldn’t even remember how long. You slowly fell asleep against her chest, listening to her heart beat, the sounds of people talking and the bonfire crackling.

Edge(ING) Fitness Chapters I-IV
I never made a masterpost for this and now cannot find the original chapters omg. So here we are.
Word Count: 1287
Chapter I
Vessel waved his QR code in front of the scanner. It made a successful little beeping noise. The employee behind the counter glanced at the computer.
"Oh, hold on a second. Your first time here? I need to take your picture for your account," the short brunette smiled at him from behind the desk.
"Uh, yeah, for sure," Vessel muttered, annoyed that he couldn't just walk in. The man behind the counter smiled again.
"Just right here. The camera is above that red dot on the back of my monitor. You ready?"
"Uh huh," Vessel grunted in affirmation, making no effort to smile. The guy's smile dropped a bit, and Vessel tried to ignore that he felt bad. "Take it," he nodded at the camera.
"Right, okay. One, two, three," the computer made a little shutter noise. "Model perfect," the guy laughed at his own joke. "I'm II, if you need anything. Go on in, you're all set," Be civil.
"Thanks, II,"
Chapter II
"Hey, Ives, did you see that new guy?" the cute personal trainer turned when II started talking. His eyes flashed around the gym before locking on the newcomer.
"That guy?" II turned in the direction that Ivy had nodded in, catching sight of the exact guy he was referencing. He was wearing a sweatshirt with a band written across it, one called Alpha Wolf. II had heard of them before, but had never really listened. I should check them out.
"Yeah, over by the mirrors," the man in question, Vessel, was testing some of their heavier free weights. "He's kind of cute, right?"
"Little tall for you, isn't he, II?" Ivy flashed his gorgeous, straight teeth at II. II gave him an annoyed look, but let his gaze wander back to the grumpy guy. "Oh, I'm sorry, okay? Don't be like that," Ivy came up next to II, leaning on the counter with him.
"His name is Vessel," II informed his friend. Ivy smiled. Together, they watched Vessel for a few minutes. He had two 25kg dumbbells next to a bench. After Vessel put the bench in a reclined sitting position, he ripped his sweatshirt off. II kind of...forgot how to breathe. Vessel had a hell of a body hidden under that sweatshirt. He was long, and lean, and in the tightest black compression shirt II had ever seen in his life. Vessel went to sit, and II pretended to be doing something on the computer so that Vessel wouldn't know he had been watching. Ivy had, much less subtly, just turned entirely around, facing the other wall. Ivy checked his watch.
"Well, it's about that time. I've got a client in five, which I think means you can go get a closer look. The paper towel stations need checking, or something," Ivy was always doing that, trying to get II to hook up with every person who caught his eye.
"Yeah, the paper towels, that's right," II went in the back to get the trolley and began his daily circle of the gym. Vessel was doing dumbbell chest presses. II froze for a moment, pretending to change a paper towel roll. Are those... are his nipples pierced?
Chapter III
III’s feet pounded the pavement. His warm up had gone well, but he was worried about jumping into a circuit. He kept an eye on the clouds above, dark and heavy with rain. His music was interrupted. New text from Vessel. Would you like for me to read it?
“I guess,” though odds were, he was probably yelling at III for starting a run when it was this close to raining out. Command not recognized. New text message fro- “Yes! Yes, yes. Read it,” Are you seriously running right now? Would you like to respond? “Call Vessel,” Calling “Mom”. “What! No! Stop. End call!” III ripped his phone out, jabbing the red end call button. The whole point of the tech was to not have to do this while running, but technology was not on III’s side today. Neither was the weather. A fat raindrop hit him right on his forehead.
“You’re not really running, are you?”
“Yes, Ves, I am. I’m committed to this marathon,” III could hear Vessel roll his eyes.
“You’ve been committed to every single marathon since you turned sixteen, III. It’s going to rain bad today. It is already here. Can I convince you to come to the gym with me?”
“Ugh, Vessel, I hate being caged in a building. I have to be free,”
“III. Please. I don’t want you to get sick,” III tipped his head back and groaned. He felt himself give in before he even opened his mouth.
“FINE! Ugh. Fine. JUST for today,” III could already feel the walls. Running on a treadmill made him feel like a hamster.
“I joined a new gym, by the way. Heavier weights. I maxed out the free weights at the old one,” Vessel bragged. He had started a specific regime and was seeing incredible improvements, even III could see it.
“Text me the address and I’ll meet you there,”
Chapter IV
Ivy was at the desk, watching a guy pacing out front. Ivy didn’t remember ever seeing him around before, and he hadn’t made an attempt to come in. He was just outside… walking. Almost jogging, actually. A black sedan slid past him and he began to follow it.
“Hey, man, what are you looking at?” II was beside him suddenly, scaring him.
“You need to wear a bell or something,”
“Don’t you have a class to teach?” II ignored Ivy’s comment about the bell. Ivy glanced at his watch, seeing that it was half past. He did indeed have a class to teach.
“Shit. Yeah. But it’s 7:30 yoga, so it’s all older women, and they’re usually late. Hopefully they’re just setting their spaces up in there,” but Ivy paused, because he caught sight of the pacer marching toward the doors. He had that guy that II had been checking out the other day with him. Ivy could still recall II racing up to him and hissing “he has pierced nipples, Ivy!” while he raced by to solve an issue with someone else. “Hey, II, isn’t that your guy?” II glanced out the door, turned away and then turned back in a nearly comic double take.
“Uh, no, he’s not my anything, Ivy. And his name is Vessel,” II hissed, as the two came through the doors. The smell of rain followed. “Hi, Vessel!” II brightened up when speaking to him.
“II,” Vessel did one of those bro nods. Ivy wasn’t really paying attention. He was staring into the clearest, lightest, bluest eyes he had ever seen in his life. The mouth under those eyes was moving.
“Vessel! You never told me you switched to a gym staffed by models,” and by god, how had Ivy missed that mouth. It was under a well groomed pale blond mustache, stretched wide by his grin. His tongue flicked out, just barely licking at his bottom lip. He winked at Ivy. Ivy’s heart stuttered and his stomach flipped on itself. “I’m III,” the guy, III, held his hand out. Ivy automatically grasped it and shook.
“Ivy,” he barely exhaled his own name. The hand against his was smooth, firm, with softened calluses rubbing against his own. Heat rose in his cheeks so fast he thought he might pass out. “I…I have to go teach a class now,” Ivy was so embarrassed, he had never been caught on the backfoot. He was always the one flirting, never the one flustered, until now.

Process Book Progress
Once I got started in documenting my work in the process book it was pretty easy going from there.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
This is my finalised front cover and inside front, I added flaps on the inside so the cover has a nice edge to it, and I included a QR code link to my blog on it.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
I originally had quite busy pages in my book but I simplified them down and just added pops of colour here and there from the shapes on the inside front cover. I think the simpler pages work a lot better and with the size of my book being about an A4 size per page, I could get a lot on there.
Tumblr media
I did some test prints, one mini one and a few pages to actual size to see how big they would be. I should have probably considered size beforehand as my front cover will have to be printed massive.

Self Promo!
(Or: I made an ebook of Spectral, the “concept album but it’s poetry” book I produced, published by Burning Eye Books earlier this year, and I should actually tell people about it...)
Tumblr media
All content is almost exactly the same as the paperback (except where I explicitly talk about it being an ebook); the QR codes are interactive links straight from the interface; all the images (yes, including every content warning symbol) have relevant image descriptions; and my accidental test user seems delighted at the functionality (I think she quite liked the poems as well!), so I should probably tell y’all where to get hold of one!
Tumblr media
It’ll be out on Kindle, Kobo, Apple Books, B&N, etc. soon, but for now you can order an ePub file direct from Lulu, the distributor, here. (Also I get a bigger chunk of the money, if I’m brutally honest.)
And yes, the audiobook is on its way (audio editing remains my slowest skill).
Tumblr media
Okay, I’m going to shuffle away, feeling slightly awkward now, because telling people I’ve made something I’m proud of always does this... Please let me know if the alt-text doesn’t work and I’ll try to fix it!

61. Special Treat For Super Players
The screen goes black, and one by one, sixty stars light up on the screen, which must be the game counting up how many games you've finished. When all sixty stars disappear, Joyce's face reappears with that same big smile.
["You are a wonderful player! You make me feel very appreciated. Thanks from Joy Traveler!"
["Did you know that many of the games in this collection were made by children?"]
Joyce hides her mouth but you can tell she's giggling. ["Sometimes it shows! But the children made them all by themselves! And now..."]
She slides off the screen and is replaced with a new logo: JOY GAME MAKER. ["...so can you!"]
"AaaaAAAAAAAAAAaaaaa!!!" Bea, who looked like she was on the brink of dozing off, is suddenly full of energy and spinning around in her chair! Good thing she put down the controller first! "HOW DO I DO IT! Tell me moooore..."
Baconnaise: Bea. You're drooling. Chill. aroseahorseboy I'M drooling HNV: I don't think you'll be able to do much, you don't have a keyboard!
Upon pressing start, the player is brought to a screen with what looks like a big schoolroom, with Joyce herself sitting at the desk at the front. Every element in the room seems to have a function. There's an art easel, which is presumably for drawing sprites; a piano, for music; a tape recorder; a map on the wall; and an open door leading to the playground outside. Hard to tell what some of these things mean at this point! Looks like you can select Joyce too.
Bea has quickly doodled several of her followers as bees (their "beesonas") before she even clicks on Joyce, presumably for tips on how to actually MAKE a game. "I should probably have realized sooner that you guys won't actually be able to PLAY this but, too late now"
Syrupentine: YOU DREW HONEY SYRUP! *dies happy*
When you pick Joyce, she stands up and pulls down a screen, prompting:
[What kind of game would you like to make?]
There are at least 30 different game models to make, starting with side-scroller, shmup, 2D fighter, all the way to JRPG and Board Game!
She selects 2D fighter! "FIGHT FOR MY AFFECTION, HAHAAH!!"
The screen closes and returns to the classroom, but now "2D Fighter" is written on the chalkboard-- and two people are practicing fighting outside the window! Looks like that's where the game design happens.
When Bea chooses the playground, she takes control of Glem! By standing on different spots and pressing the shoulder buttons, she can change how he handles, making him faster or slower, jumping higher or lower, even changing his friction against the ground.
aroseahorseboy: is it odd to anyone that we're making a game in a genre that we haven't even seen yet in this collection?
"Well there's got to be at least one, or it wouldn't have the option!" she tries to adjust the controls to make a good balance of strength and speed. "Too floaty, too slow.. there we go, just right"
berd_snurglar: make mine a bumblebee cuz i bumble shit up all the time lol
"FINALLY! Ok, I think, maybe, we can take this for a test run now, at the very least. Thanks for your patience, guys! ....Guys?"
"...Well that's it for Press Bea today, see you tomorrow with more Joy Traveler!"
aroseahorseboy: no no i'm awake, kinda
When Bea chooses the computer disk to save her game, a truck also appears labeled "Export".
She selects it right away, not really thinking. "And off into the wild you go, little friend."
Options appear: [ PC / Mac / Android / iOS ]
".... PC, I guess? This thing's got wireless??"
[Compiling...]
A 'document' opens up with 36 pages to view. Each page has what Bea at first takes to be meaningless garbage, until she scrolls down and sees the boxes in the corners-- they're actually highly complex QR codes.
Baconnaise: Ok anyone speak robot talk GlockRoach: Bea my character has a special move. he has a gun. his special move is he just fucking shoots people with his gun Please put this in berd_snurglar: guys this is a program file that looks like it checks out except bea didn't do shit Klickitat_Street: This is fucking Objective-C... and you wrote it by mooshing a little man around on screen. I write code for a living, Bea. They're paying me to come in, eat donuts, and write things that are less elegant than this.
"NO IDEA WHAT I DID.. That's how kids made these games, it really was just that easy. I thought this was supposed to be a bunch of games for kids, but it's game for kids to make games with!"
GlockRoach: Well that explains a lot Syrupentine: I hope "Renk" finishes his game someday! GlockRoach: He's probably like ten or twenty years older by now at least. Or dead.
"This is ahead of its time NOW, I can't imagine it's all that old!" She looks for a way to test the game itself
Klickitat_Street: It can't be THAT much older if this lets you export to ios and android?
There's a poster of a movie clapboard that says 'action' on the wall; when she chooses it, Bea's game launches!
BUZZKILL! (that's the title she wrote in the fat cartoony font she chose)
Two angry little bees duel with their stingers on the title screen! Pressing start takes you to SELECT YOUR BEE!
"I can't play this because I can't believe it. Sorry, I can't...BEElieve it!"
Syrupentine: I wonder if there's something to let you make a random game... ...that's what the bingo cage on the desk is for, isn't it!!
"Let's find out!" she says. Syrup's bee just defeated Glock's anyway! Sadly she, too, perishes shortly after, having lost her stinger. "Uh.. maybe I can edit that out later"
Syrupentine: I can't believe you put that in... T_T ...I mean literally, that the game even gave you the option to make that happen! GlockRoach: GOTCHA BITCH
"Hey hey be civil now, if I can find out how to send this to you you can just kill each other that way!"
Zooming in on the bingo cage, it spins a few times and spits out a bunch of balls. They're decorated with symbols that aren't immediately meaningful, but there are some familiar icons, including some sprites from other games. Two more balls form a button: OK ?
berd_snurglar: i see some old friends of ours
"Let's see what you come up with on your own, game!"
[Compiling...]
A blue stone title screen pops up with the name written in block letters: PIZZA HERO.
After a moment, though, Joyce's face leans in, looking sheepish. "Is this title okay? If there's anything you don't like in a randomized game, you can pause and change it any time!"
"Looks good to me, Joyce! I come up with worse titles all the time! Besides, those are two things I like, can't go too wrong!”
When the game starts, the player is lost in a deep, dark forest, with only one person in sight to talk to. The player, however, is the green fuzzball from Fuzzed, and the NPC is an Angul! It's not attacking, though.
When Bea approaches the Angul, a dialogue box opens up:
[O BRAVE HERO, WE PRESENT TO THEE A QUEST!] [YOU MUST RETURN THE PIZZA OF COURAGE!]

Note
I also think the vaccination requirements may change based on venue or state! at madison square garden, if you’re over the age of 12 you must be at least half vaccinated to attend, and if you aren’t fully vaccinated (including the 2 week window after your second dose) you have to wear a mask. children under 12 need a negative antigen test within 6 hours of the event. I think harry will now enforce mask wearing for all patrons, but before he announced that msg was stricter than all other venues.
also for new york, you can get the covid-19 excelsior pass and that should work as proof as well! you can add it to your iphone wallet, and it expires a year from your second dose. and since NY is strict about security for obvious post-2001 reasons, it’ll probably take longer to go through bag security than for them to scan your vax QR code.
Welcome to our new normal. Thanks for all the details, love. I appreciate it!

RocketBook Flip - a rare review and it’s not a game!
Before I go any further, I feel I must point out that I don’t have any financial connection to RocketBook whatsoever – this isn’t a piece that was requested or courted by RocketBook or affiliates and I’m not receiving any reward or sponsorship either in product or direct payment for this article. I just like the damn thing and love it when an innovative piece of tech (in this case quite low key) just works. Hi I’m Paul, and I have a bit of a problem with notebooks – A4 lined, sketch, reporters, Black & Reds (ohhhh the sheer number of B&Rs), goofy ones, serious work ones, battered ones, pristine ‘for best only’ ones – and they all fill at an alarming rate. I make notes on everything. Working as a sound engineer and designer, there’s always mix notes, soundscape plots, ideas, VO notes and scripts, SFX ideas etc etc. At home it’s a very different story – it’s much worse. Game notes; blog notes; hurriedly scribbled quiz questions spurred by watching another episode of Mental Floss’ 500 facts about cheese; RPG notes and story ideas; my own script writing; world building; sketches; other creative ideas; song/music notes and ideas; and that’s before we get to to-do lists; and the dreaded ‘things I must remember’. So my journal life is many, varied and plenty. The usual issue is… ‘what frakking journal did I put that amazing idea in????’, and that’s way before we get to the utter horror that is possibly losing a whole journal or forgetting to bring one home from work. I’m 53, I forget more than I recall, and journals help bring some semblance of order to a massively chaotic and fertile brain. What I’ve needed for a long time is some way of organising all this info or centralising it in some way. Sure I’ve looked at apps – I used Things, Evernote, Notes, and One Note for years, and they are really, really good, but they relied on either having a charged device exactly when I need it (yeah – me too) or net access, which for a new-ish theatre, is surprisingly a bit of an issue at work. And the most important part – I actually enjoy the physical act of handwriting long-hand. I still write actual physical letters to people, it’s adorable and a bit creepy in this age, but I call it charming and leave it at that. Handwriting, for me, allows me time to think and process in a way that typing just doesn’t. Handwriting is slower, I rarely cross anything out, and so I always have the whole of the thought. So what I’ve ideally wanted for years, was a reliable way of organising all my notes and storing them electronically so I have access even without the actual journal, with OCR so they’re editable, and still being a tactile handwritten experience. I’m naturally a sceptic (I actually subscribe to Fortean Times – yeah – I card carry!) and so online ads and particularly FaceAche ads are a field day for critical thinking triggers. I don’t think I’ve ever received from Wish, exactly what I ordered from Wish. And so when an ad from RocketBook constantly kept popping up on my timeline a few weeks ago, I was naturally “it’ll never work” But their website looked legit enough – they had a dedicated UK shop, it was relatively steep to buy in but not so wild that if it didn’t work I wouldn’t be crying too much about the money wasted, and at the end of the day it was a 10th the price of a ReMarkable 2 which is actually what I thought would solve my problem. I’m furloughed at the mo and though I could argue the case for £300+ notebook (test me, I could), I just couldn’t justify it now. And RocketBook had a good summer intro offer. I ordered on the Wednesday, and the impressively glitzy and graphic-design-playbook poly package was dropped on my doorstep just 2 days later by my cheery postie who yelled up the drive “Package for ya, looks very exciting!!!!” I like that our postal service is still invested in the hopes and dreams of their customers. It was exciting. All the instructions for getting started with my new Teal RocketBook A4 Flip were right there before you even open it. The main body houses the pad and a cleaning cloth, and a clever little side pocket houses the supplied Pilot Frixion pen.
Tumblr media
RocketBooks come in several models, all configured slightly differently. I have the Flip which is a top spiral-bound softback pad with 21 double sided ‘pages’ giving 42 pages in total. The Flip has lined paper one side, and dot paper on the reverse (great for D&D maps, impromptu tables, mixer channel plots etc)
Tumblr media
DELIVERY & FIRST IMPRESSIONS The pads are nicely made, with sturdy covers (available in some really nice colours too) and a solid, thick plastic ring binding. Initially, The RocketBook does feel a bit odd. Its ‘pages’ are actually a synthetic polyester blend and feel quite shiny to the touch. The sort of surface you just instantly feel is not going to be great for ink! Each page is edge-to-edge lined or dotted with a heavy black border. At the bottom is a prominent QR code used for scanning and some very feint icons. These 7 icons are the key to the ease of use of the RocketBook series. But more later.
THE APP
The pads work with a companion app, that is absolutely free and available for Apple & Android. In fact, RB even do downloadable printable pages so you can try the whole system absolutely free before you buy – I didn’t, I just bought one, y’know. The app allows you to set up your destination locations, your preferences and does the actual scanning. Just one quick note, I have the app on both my phone and iPad and had to set-up the app the same for both, there appears to be no way of swapping preference settings between devices, though I can see why this may be intentional.
Currently, the RocketBook allows you to choose from the following locations to send files to: GoogleDrive, box, EverNote, DropBox, slack, OneNote, iCloud, OneDrive as well as simply to an email (or multiple) addresses and iMessage. Impressively, these are not fixed either, so you could choose your 7 destinations to be 7 email addresses of team members. These 7 locations are the icons at the bottom of each page. To select a destination for your file, you just make a mark in that icon box (tick, circle, something unsavoury) and that page will be sent to whichever you select. This makes the system very flexible indeed as not every page is necessarily sent to every destination. You always decide every time you fill a page. Change your mind on a second revision? No problem, add or change icons at any time and re-upload.
There’s a really handy table on the inside front cover for you to note what icon sends what where. This is also wipeable, so can be changed anytime.
I have mine set by default to:
Rocket > main email address (either as PDF, JPG, OCR embedded or as separate txt file)
Diamond > GoogleDrive (you can specify exactly what folder too)
Apple > iMessage
Bell > OneNote
That actually still leaves me 3 spare: shamrock; star; and horseshoe.
The app took me maybe 20mins to set-up, that included decision time for destinations and setting up a few target folders. It also included a few ‘test firings’. I didn’t get everything right first time and a few things didn’t send, but crucially, a tiny bit of digging revealed very simple troubleshooting (including the aforementioned issue with no sync’ing of phone and iPad), and all in I was finding the files in all the right destinations within about 30 mins. The website, FAQs and community are immensely helpful with any other issues as well. I had a tiny issue with OneNote seeming to take ages to sync, but I think that’s an issue with my OneNote settings, everything else was almost instantaneous. You can also handily set the app to auto-send as soon as it scans, or allow for manual review.

CLEAN UP ON AISLE ROCKETPAD The main reason I wanted to look at the RocketBook was the issue of reusability. My journal shenanigans are by no means the biggest ecological disaster on the planet, but if we are to believe Tesco (who probably issue as many receipts at our local Tesco Express in a day as journals I’ve ever used), every little helps. If I could find an ecologically better solution, I should at least take a look. The RocketPads work by partnering with Pilot pens called Frixion. The really clever bit is RB’s paper technology and how it works with the Frixion ink. At present, the pads only work with the Frixion pens – except the RB Colour which works with Crayola’s dry-erase crayons. When you write on the ‘paper’ with a Frixion pen, it remains wet for a few seconds and then dries pretty quickly. There’s no smudging whatsoever in transit, which is pretty cool. From then on, it may as well be permanent, until you have transmitted your page and decide you don’t want the text anymore.  To wipe the page clean, you can dampen the supplied cloth and just wipe the surface clean, it’s weird but it works! But then damp cloth in your bag? So I use kitchen roll to dampen, then wipe dry with theirs. Others even have an adorably kitsch spray bottle in their kit. RB reckon if you are not going to use the pad for a few months, to clean the pages as the ink can get trickier to shift after a long time, but for day-to-day use, I’ve tried writing and wiping well over 20x and the page hasn’t become discoloured or tarnished at all. The only pad different in the range is the Wave which cleans by microwaving! Do NOT do this with any of the others, bad things will happen. The ink doesn’t take scrubbing or any time to come up, I clean my pages in about 10-15s. The page can feel a little tacky when it’s damp, but leave a minute or so and the page will be back to normal. RB do say that odd things can happen if the book is left near a heatsource or in a hot car, vis-à-vis, the ink can completely disappear horrifyingly enough. They say that putting the pen or the pad in the freezer for a little while will actually restore the ink, but I’ve not tried it yet so can’t confirm or deny how that goes. Handy for spies in hot countries though, so there’s another target market. If you are always going to send your pages to the same places, then don’t erase the marked icons, and the page is ready for new notes straight away, otherwise, scrub them too.
Tumblr media
I CAN’T READ YOUR WRITING – ARE YOU A DOCTOR? Initially, the RB pads send their files as scans of the pages in high contrast monochrome (colour is available) when you snap the page in the app (which auto-frames for you and takes maybe 10s to capture). The formats are either as images or PDF. If that had been it, I would have been quite happy, but the RB pads have another trick up their sleeve. Firstly, they have a function called ‘Smart Titles’ which allows you to name your files directly from the page by writing a filename between double hashtags ie ## this is my scrawl 24/8/20 ## and the file will pop up in your destinations with the filename “this is my scrawl 24/08/20” – this is insanely handy – there’s no protocol except your own and the hashtags, and it makes your files super easy to search. You can even send groups of pages as a single PDF. But the notebooks go even further. They actually offer full searchable OCR which the app can be set to send embedded in the PDF or image, or more usefully, as a companion separate .txt file. Now, my handwriting isnt the neatest, but it’s not bad so I was prepared for some editing to be necessary, but impressively again, the OCR was about 90-95% accurate. In a page of text it missed maybe 3 or 4 words and even those not badly. This is all considering their full OCR is still only in beta! It gets confused with diagrams on the page, but that’s to be expected.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Text Generated by OCR: ## Blog post och test Aug 2020 ## This is a little demonstration of the OCR capabilities of the Rocket Book pads and app. I've told the lovely people that the hit rate is about 90-95% so please dant let me down here flip pad. Hopefully the file name will also prove another point further up in the section and not make me look like some charlatan or snake-oil salesman.Hope you enjoyed this demonstrahen, now go away and leave me to write the next great novella.Bye!
HOW MUCH? On average, I pay anywhere from £4-8 for a decent A4 notebook/journal, so at £30-37 (dependent on model), the RocketBook pads are not a whim purchase. That said, I get through a lot of journals in a year, and given that I would expect to easily get 2-3 years out of a RocketBook pad, then I’ve saved money. Will it replace all my notebooks? No. You need to be thinking of carrying this round as a kit: pad, Frixion pen (at least 2), and cloth.  RB do a series of portfolio sleeves for the pads but it does push the price up a bit still, but for a rep, engineer or salesperson, this still makes sense. They’re less bulky than a normal A4 pad too. What I would say is Tesco and Sainsbury’s currently stock Frixion pens and at much better prices than buying them from RB directly, I just paid £3 for 3 pens on offer at Tesco compared to £10 from RB. You get one pen with the pad, but you’re going to want more soon, so stock up next time you’re shopping for truffle oil crisps. If you use whiteboards a lot, RB also have you covered. Instead of the pad, £16 will get you a 4 pack of ‘beacons’ – little self-adhesive triangles that effectively do the same thing as the QR code in the pad. You don’t have the icon options obviously, but if you’re looking to distribute quick meeting or group notes, this would be a boon. CONCLUSION Considering this was a fairly speculative purchase on my part, my early experiences with the RocketBook Flip have been really impressive. The flexibility, the ability to store every page in a different location if you really wanted to make it fantastic for organising my notes, which can save me hours of finding the right ^^$&^$&$ notebook in the first place, then scouring that for the one paragraph I was looking for etc etc. The searchable text facility, in-app history for re-sending etc and last but no way least, functional handwriting OCR, makes the RocketBook not only novel, but actually useable! Would I buy another? As a second notebook – yes. I look forward to seeing what the actual longevity of the product is once I come off furlough and start cramming my day bag with all my junk and a notepad again, but yes, I’d probably just have one at home, and one for work, but make the last 5 mins of each day, scanning and sending work notes so I have them with me wherever. Impressively, the RocketBook Flip just works and it works well. ‘Er Across The Table has already sold several folk at her work on the idea and she doesn’t even have one herself yet! I love it. It’s taking a little adjusting to, but it’s all good. The most important thing though is the writing experience, and I have to say, the combination of the Frixion pen/ink and the polymer technology of the Flip, again, just works. It’s smooth, doesn’t skip or smudge for me (I know some right to left users and left handers have reported some issues) and feels great to write on. If anything I have to slow down a bit as the contact is so smooth that your writing can get a bit ahead of you! RocketBook have produced a cracker of a product. It might not seem like much, but if practical working journals are your thing (ie not create and keep things) then I can highly recommend the RocketBook series.

Parity Wallet
The Parity Wallet any of several well-liked options that were designed in order to serve as the two a good wallet and an software between the Ethereum program and your personal computer. Similar to MyEtherWallet, Parity is really a browser and not merely the budget. Parity also expenses itself as an Ethereum Browser a visitor is needed because Ethereum is absolutely an extensive network. The idea at the rear of Parity is to provide typically the speediest connection between Ethereum along with other technologies possible. Ethereum came to be as a decentralized data safe-keeping solution, although it is popular because cryptocurrency because it can be encrypted and very secure. A new simple method to imagine of Ethereum is a good second, encrypted network in the internet. Parity is designed like a entry to the fact that network and even an interface between the net plus Ethereum. The 100 % NODE WALLET Parity was created as a full-node budget of which means you can do everything this. You can store Ethereum in addition to ERC-20 up to date initial cryptocurrency choices (ICOs). More importantly, you could send and receive payments, buy and sell Azure and ICO tokens, quarry, invest in Ethereum and add the wallet to the wide variety of software. That makes Parity Ethereum management tool that you may increase to a number involving surfers in addition to run with various operating systems. At the moment, this works with Ubuntu, OS 10, Dockers and Windows. One of the reasons for this why users including the Parity Wallet is usually that provides a dial that can be utilized to manage Ether on your screen. It will also function on computers wherever MyEtherWallet and Mist possess been added.
Tumblr media
EASY FOR YOU TO USE Parity is fairly uncomplicated if you stick to the instructions in the dial, which are fairly simple and explanatory. If an individual look strongly you ought to see everything explained in order to anyone. This makes stocking and managing Ethereum while easy as shopping in Amazon. Although it could take a while for your dollars showing upwards in Parity, users report that it takes many time to be able to record transactions. Another well-liked feature will be the easy recovery page with a quick go through (QR) code that you can scan using pretty much any phone. That permits you recover your Parity account rapid if it is lost or your current computer system crashes. LOTS CONNECTED WITH SUPPORT A lot of developers in addition to customers similar to Parity since this has a lot of support. It is quite effortless to contact and use the organization responsible intended for this finances. The visitor was your creation of the company referred to as Parity Systems. Based in Manchester in addition to Berlin, Paritys goal is definitely to create a superfast networking that combines peer to peer payments, networking, methods, cryptography, databases, and decentralized apps. This provides the more qualified operation in addition to a higher level of assist than some involving Paritys competition. Parity presents what it loves to get in touch with the worlds speediest and lightest client that may be included directly into a net web browser. That means it is a lot a great deal more than a wallet. Anyone can store, obtain and deliver Ethereum by means of Parity, nevertheless you can as well produce or execute agreements plus design, deploy, and attempt a wide variety associated with Ethereum-based applications. One of the ways this does that is in order to function as an interface between several networks. The help with Parity includes device testing and review developed to be sure every functions. That also includes some of the most experienced cryptocurrency manuacturers around. HIGH AMOUNT OF KNOWLEDGE Parity Systems includes some of the people that assisted develop Ethereum itself. Paritys founder Doctor Gavin Timber, worked having Ethereum founder Vitalik Buterin when he or she first designed the particular blockchain system. Wood has become trying to develop a greater and more comprehensive Ethereum system designed to serve as a good full-service settlement network. Often the Parity Finances is designed to turn out to be the cornerstone of that system. One obvious target here can be to generate next-generation Fin-Tech solutions that may be marketed in order to banks, retailers, off-set resources, credit card companies, authorities, along with other organizations. These remedies would likely utilize the Ethereum blockchain to help produce trading markets, retail systems, and fiscal products. THE BEST PARTS ASSOCIATED WITH PARITY Some Paritys shows and selling points include things like: Will work with Apple McIntosh computers via the OS 10 operating method. Can work while using Linux-based Ubuntu operating technique. Works having an ecommerce applications software called Docker. Very simple one-word online assembly designed for Apple pc and Ubuntu, and perhaps Opera and Android. PARITY FEATURES The most impressive matter about Parity is many of the very advanced features it offers. They look to possibly be years prior to other wallets and handbags and might give the more effective payment answer. Competitors would be well-advised for you to imitate some regarding Paritys very-impressive new attributes. These are a tad techie but if that they work as offered, those people features will make Parity of the best level of privacy wallets available today. One hardest Parity feature is the particular Rust programming vocabulary which will is low-level. That can make Parity, simple and quicker than other wallets and handbags, in addition to should reduce errors. Rust allows the creation involving complex smart contracts using JITEVM turbocharging and multi-level storage caching. Parity Systems claims that Rust guarantees safety with actor-based modality, unit testing, and peer review. That is developed to create a more robust and resilient program. Extra levels of durability are created with the regular, JSON-based company spec structure, native rate contracts together with modular structures. Higher values of security, personal privacy, in addition to anonymity are presented by Paritys small impact. Possessing a small impact creates Parity harder to discover and track on the net. A little footprint supplies a increased level associated with cache control and makes a more compact storage footprint that may be less difficult to manage but harder for the bad guys to help discover. Even though its website fails to mention Android os or Stainless, the makers claim it really is highly compatible with Linux-based operating systems. This specific is achieved through fully test conformant consensus conformant implementation, standard devp2p network method, and full abiliyy with JSON-RPC-API. All of which should make Parity real simple to operate with one line Macintosh and even Linux unit installation. That means one line assembly on Chrome in addition to Android os might be available since those Google solutions are usually Linux-based. Installation can as well be made with Docker photographs. PARITY VS MYETHERWALLET Parity by far is usually made for the considerably more complex user who likes to get smart with the interior workings associated with ethereum billfolds. Theres assistance for stuff like multisig contracts, manual adjustment of GWEI (useful if a person are trying to obtain directly into a new highly competing ICO) values, and whole lot more. However, Parity does definitely not have the easiest-to-use graphical user interface and, as things get, not as user-friendly like MyEtherWallet. Power users is going to probably prefer Parity over MyEther Wallet. Casual customers who just need a good private budget to retail outlet ERC20 tokens probably will prefer MyEtherWallet Is Parity intended for You? All this makes Parity a great remedy for severe Ethereum geeks and people which can be hoping to developing next-generation Ethereum solutions. Parity would possibly be a fantastic use for anyone if you want to be able to create or maybe execute good contracts by way of example. Persons plus companies that want a internet browser that can help average people access and make use of Ethereum would be well-served by simply Parity. That makes a great substitute regarding ecommerce companies plus monetary professionals. Parity may not necessarily be a good option for somebody who is usually just looking for a indicates of buying, stocking, transmitting and trading Ethereum. The big drawback to Parity we can see is usually that the idea is not going to seem to be compatible along with any of the well-known cryptocurrency hardware wallets. I think as if no assist is obtainable for the TREZOR or any on the Journal products such as the Nano H. That might make MyEtherWallet which can certainly easily be installed on typically the TREZOR and Nano S i9000, the better alternative. The reason why You Need More in comparison with 1 Cryptocurrency Wallet A great clear solution for a good particular person that will wants to help store Ethereum could be to have two or more billfolds. A large advantage to Parity is it is supposed to be compatible with purses like the Mist together with MyEtherWallet. A person can use Parity for superior Ethereum tasks like making money with smart contracts, plus the different wallet for stocking altcoins or copying these to equipment billfolds. One of the particular best rewards to Parity is that their creators identify the need for multiple wallet. If an individual watch the news, you almost certainly know that every altcoin underneath the sun has also been hacked. Employing two or maybe more wallets can include additional security and make that more difficult for crooks for you to swipe the coins. Paritys recognition with this weak point and the need for shift is a robust retailing point intended for the items. It might as well possibly be an indication that Parity Technologies is planning various other products in the possible future such as a good Visa for australia or MasterCard money credit or a mobile software package that converts cryptocurrency to fiat currencies such as bucks. A smart method is to have 2 or more billfolds about your computer and much more than one equipment pocket. A good mix of wallets and handbags might be a Parity, MyEtherWallet, a standard commercial wallet much like Coinbase, a trading answer for example CEX. IO, a TREZOR for travel, a further equipment wallet for safe-keeping, including least wallet having a Master card or Visa payment alternative. There are now many wallets associated with MasterCard and Visa free e cards such as TenX. Such a fix is a new good option as you can employ the debit card on places like the grocery store store and to get income from ATMs if need be. A VERY ADVANCED POCKET WITH A HIGH LEVEL OF SCREENING You should definitely consider employing Parity if you need an state-of-the-art wallet that provides a lot of support. The Parity Technology Team seems to present additional support and some sort of level of00 professionalism and reliability than many of it has the competitors. His or her best attribute is very much doing a lot of examining. You can find enough support to create a merchandise this is stable and basically functions. Unlike some other altcoin solution providers, Parity Technological innovation tests its merchandise by itself rather than dumping them out online for uninformed consumers to tests. One of many ways Parity tries to maintain strength and stability will be by endeavoring to test and release new variants or maybe updates every 6 weeks. A further is through 100% unit-testing which many cryptocurrency geeks know is far from often the industry standard. Parity possesses even managed to perform more than 1, 000 general opinion assessments in a good effort to be sure its products actually work. All those reviews include static passcode checking, together with having several expert builders review every single update ahead of it is made public. In case you need a budget that will totally has in order to work, Parity is with regard to you. The testing is expected to provide a higher stage of resilience and reliability than you are probably employed to. HIGH LEVEL OF TRANSPARENCY On top of that, Parity truly outlines its testing processes and methods online. This actually is out of often the way to reveal these attributes as block-processing swiftness, memory footprint, and trie benchmarks online. That indicates techies can actually to help see if Paritys claims are for real. That delivers a far higher levels of transparency than is usually usually seen coming from several crypto solution companies. It is a true wide open procured solution developed having a advanced level of openness and condition. Developers will definitely definitely love that will but so will regular people that want something good enough for the pros to use. A single big advantages to Parity is the fact that the idea is a professional solution. PARITY IS A GREAT SOLUTION FOR BUSINESS PEOPLE In the event that you need something of which developers are able to access and even play with, Parity is normally definitely for you. That would make it a good fine solution regarding anyone who also is trying to produce smart contracts, a good ICO, or an Ethereum-based web commerce market platform, or product or service. Somebody that expects in order to hire a good team associated with engineers for you to build the new Ethereum-solution would be quite well provided by Parity. So would entrepreneurs that are looking for to do business along with large companies such while big banks, governing bodies, big businesses, investment banking companies, hedge funds, credit-card services, and technology companies. Parity would be more likely to be able to provide the degree of documents, safe practices, and transparency those organizations require. Which makes Parity a great choice of budget for those trying to help create or design next generation internet alternatives. When you own a business enterprise or maybe web page and an individual want to add Ethereum Parity would be a wonderful way to do that. It indicates Parity is not necessarily an awesome solution intended for private persons. It seems like some sort of business solution for professionals that requires some level of technical knowledge to implement. In the event you want to understand Ethereum and how to produce Ethereum-based solutions, an individual should definitely get familiar with Parity and learn for you to use this. Persons the fact that just want to employ Ethereum as a payment solution, might be greater served by just a more consumer-friendly solution for instance MyEtherWallet. With luck ,, the Parity Technologies group will develop a much easier version of their pocket for use by the general public sooner or later. Their product is impressive and yes it deserves to find a large markets and viewers. Note that the particular split developers behind parity are usually putting their skills in developing a new crypto that aims to become the next big movement beyond ethereum many would likely argue the third generation involving blockchain technology having a great net of blockchains that aims to interface plus connect with distinct blockchains. This new cryptocurrency is referred to as Polkadot and goes reside Q4 2019. People of which need what a cryptocurrency budget plus an Ethereum browser will need to look like must check out Parity. It might well turn out to be the gold standard involving Ethereum-interface remedies.

Each code is readable by either a 1D or 2D barcode scanner. Choose from common linear barcode symbologies including UPC, EAN, Code 128, and Code 39. Thanks to for their online barcode generator. Instantly create custom barcodes or QR codes using this free online barcode and QR code generator. Print them out and scan them instead of manually keying in those numbers.

It's a PDF file containing a table of barcodes from 0 to 1,000 which you find useful for entering quantities. I have also created a table of barcodes (1,263 KB) you might be interested in. Searching Google with the text "Login Barcode Creator" (quotation marks included) should also bring you to this page. It will take them to this page so they can use Login Barcode Creator to create their own login barcodes.

(They might need to install a QR scanner app first.) If you'd like to share this with friends and co-workers, let them scan the QR code below with their smartphone. Sometimes it's difficult to scan a smartphone screen, so you might have to print it out on paper in order to make it work. Hold the scanner at a slight angle to the screen since directly reflecting the beam back at the scanner might "blind" it to what you are trying to scan. Hold the scanner as close as possible to the screen and then slowly pull it away from the screen for best results. You will probably need to center on your barcode and zoom in as much as possible. Use the CGI form below to generate a printable and scan-able barcode in Interleaved 2 of 5, Code 39, Code 128 A, B, or C symbologies. If you are viewing this on your smartphone you can test the barcode by scanning your screen. Just change your password and make another one. If you suspect somebody is using your barcode That way it's always available and secure. Tape it to the back of your name badge, if possible. There are obvious security risks involved since somebody could use the barcode to login under your name, so you'll want to keep the barcode DO NOT simply make copies of your barcode and pass them out! Link your colleagues to this page (see the QR code below) so they can make their own. Forġd barcodes (the ones with vertical bars and spaces) it doesn't matter how tall you leave it, but be sure to leave at least some white space to the left and right sides.īe sure to keep your barcode image secure in order to prevent unauthorized personsįrom logging into your account. After printing, use scissors to trim the barcode to the desired size. You can then print out this page or right-click on the barcode image to save it for editing. Not all scanners can handle 2d barcodes, such as PDF417 or QRCode.) Code128 is the default, and probably the best in most cases, but if it doesn't work you can try some of the others. Generates QR-Code 2D meCard business card barcodes, where name, address, address, phone number, email and URL can be encoded. (Note: You have option to use Enter key or Tab key after entering username to advance the cursor to the password field, but either will probably work in most cases.īarcode must be scanned while in your login screen on your handheld device. Shika’s Guide To Selling at Conventions #1: Table Set Up
Sooooo, to take my mind off somethings that are bugging me and to give myself a break from drawing; I thought I might offer a bit of insight to those who want to sell at conventions or those who already do but, just might want to read a long ass post about artsy shit. This post in particular will be about your table set up and I’ll probably make another one on what type of things you should sell and where to get your stuff made and or/how to make them yourself, one on what the content of your merch should be, and basic convention etiquette. Coming from someone that has done plenty of research on conventions, is currently getting ready for the 2018 con circuit, and has sold things herself I have quite a bit to talk about.
Strap in kiddies, because I’m going to cover everything I can possibly think of when it comes to table set up.
PART 2: PRODUCTS AND HOW TO MAKE THEM/WHERE TO GET THEM DONE
Now the first thing I want to list is the things that you will need REGARDLESS of your table set up. These are things that everyone needs to have whether they have a grid display, pipe display, etc.
Tablecloth: At most conventions/fairs you’re going to be given a table that is 2′x6′. You can have just a cheap ass plastic tablecloth meant for one time use if you’re just testing the waters but, if you’re going to be selling multiple times a year or if you’re even just going to sell more in the future I recommend that you have something made of cloth. It doesn’t even have to be specifically a tablecloth. Mine is a tapestry that I’m using so whatever fits the table will be fine.
Paper For Keeping Count of Your Inventory: This is important to make sure you’re keeping track of what you have and what you’ve sold.
Pens and Markers
Sign(s) Listing Your Prices For Your Items: It’s annoying to keep having to ask the artist what the price of everything is so make sure everything is marked.
Money Box with Change
Scissors
Container for holding your merch including your prints and everything else
T-Shirt Bags: You can get a box of them at Office Max/Depot, or colored ones on Ebay. Your costumers will thank you for having them trust me.
Pocket Folder
Paracord: This is useful for hanging or tying your banner and so much more.
Invisible Tape
Banner
Card Reader: Not everyone has cash on them these days. I sure as hell don’t so, get one. I recommend Square personally.
Phone Stylus: Get a cheap one at Walmart so people can sign when they buy with a card.
Velcro
And now that, that is out of the way let’s get onto the actual table display. There are tons of ways to set up your table and you can look up pictures as reference but, I will be going over the 5 most common types that I have seen, the pros and cons of each, and the extra items you made need for each particular display. I’ll start at the cheapest and go up.
ABSOLUTELY NOTHING!
Price: $
Eyup, that’s right. You can get by with just having your stuff spread out on your table. This set up is good because it’s cheap and good for first timers and it’s also good if you’re only selling prints and/or maybe a few items. But, at the same time it may be tiresome for customers to have to look down at a table and it may look cluttered and unprofessional as well.
Pros: Cheap, Good for first timers or people on a budget, Good for those with minimal items to sell, Set up is very easy
Cons: Can look cluttered/unprofessional, Can be tiresome for customers to look down.
Extras You May Need: Portfolio/Page Protectors to Display Prints, Binder
PVC PIPING
Price: $
This is probably the one everyone is most familiar with. It’s a simple and cheap and does a great job of displaying many different prints. It’s starting to fade out in recent years as Photography Stands are getting more popular. It’s common for most beginners to use this but, that also may be a con because it can look a bit amateurish with those big white pipes showing. They are readily available at any hardware store and are pretty cheap. Most beginners (especially people in the mid 2000′s) would use clamps to hold the pipes up and tape the hell out of them but, I would recommend a setup like this. No matter how you set it up, the set up its self takes time so you’ll have to go in early to set up.
Pros: Cheap, Readily available, Can be customized to different heights and widths
Cons: Set up may take some time, a bit amateurish and unprofessional, can be a bit wobbly and unstable, Hard to transport to keep track of all of the pieces
Extras You May Need: Plastic Page Sleeves, Binder Clips/Binder Rings
WIRE GRID STORAGE CUBES
Price: $$
This is neck in neck with Photography Stands with the most current popular display method. It’s actually the one I use and its my favorite. It’s very easy to find; You can find it at Walmart, Bed Bath and Beyond, Target, and Kmart (which is where I got mine). You can even order the individual little grids online through certain stores. They come in both black and white. How much you spend will depend on whether you get a 4 cube set or a 6 cube set. I have a 6 cube set that I got at Kmart for $20 and it’s worked perfectly for me. The set up is easy but takes time (longer than the PVC pipes) so you’ll have to go in early to properly set up. My favorite thing with these is how customizable they are. You can do so many different looks with them.
Pros: Fairly inexpensive, Readily available, Customizable, Good for Products like Charms/Jewelry/Bookmarks because they can be hung, Easy to transport
Cons: Can be unstable based on how it’s set up, set up takes time
WIRE GRID PANELS
Price: $$$
This is one of the more rarer ones but, I still think it’s worth mentioning anyways. These work like the Storage Cubes but, on a larger scale. These will have to be placed on the floor unlike the rest and you need to buy more than one, which isn’t a big deal because they’re actually fairly cheap in a pack. They can be bought in different sizes but, because they are so big, heavy, and almost exclusively sold online shipping will probably bite you in the ass. Also set up will most likely be difficult without a helper. Also because of the fact that they are so big will give you plenty of space to display prints. The fact that they’re on the floor will free up you table space and give you more room to show other things.
Pros: Pretty affordable for their size, Very professional looking, Easy to hang things like Charms/Bookmarks/Jewelry from, Plenty of display space, Frees up table space
Cons: Hard to set up without help, Hard to transport, May make your booth space feel crowded with things behind you
Extras You May Need: Zipties
PHOTOGRAPHY STAND
Price: $$$$
This is tied with the Grid Cubes for the most popular option and it’s steadily growing as well. They’ll set you back about $80-$90 but, they have a lot of benefits. They are the easiest to set up. They have the concept of PVC pipes but are far easier to put together, are customizable with the height and width, and are much more sleeker and professional looking. They are perfect for anyone selling alot of prints and like the grid panels they free up table space. And also like the panels they can make the surrounding area feel closed in.
Pros: Very easy setup, Very professional looking, Plenty of Space for prints, Customizable height and width, Frees up table space, Easy Transport
Cons: Very expensive for a quality one, Mostly exclusive to online, Depending on the feet type it can be a tad bit unsturdy, Makes surrounding space feel cluttered
Extras You May Need: Plastic Page Sleeves, Binder Clips/Binder Rings
And those are only the 5 most popular set ups. I’ve seen people use other methods so do you research and pick and choose which one suits you best. And now unto how to display certain popular items. The prints are covered by the stand setup but, this is for the smaller things.
Buttons
Foam Core Board (Can be by it’s self or with a fabric covering like felt)
Jewelry Beading Box
Cork Board
Charms
Foam Core Board
Cork Board
Display Case
Stickers
Bowls (Good for individual stickers)
Foam Core Board (Good for sticker sheets)
Jewelry Beading Box
Jewelry
I would have to list alot but, unless you’re going to have them hanging if you have wire grid panels/storage cubes You’ll need a necklace stand, bracelet stand, ring holder, etc.
These are extras that completely optional but, I thought they would be nice to mention anyhow.
Peg Board With Pegs: These are great for displaying hanging things like Keychains,Charms Etc. They can even be used to display prints if you get them big enough.
Cloth Backdrop for Photography Stand: If you don’t want to put your prints in sleeves and then tape them together, You can attach them to a cloth backdrop.
Gift Card Display, Revolving or Stationary: These are great if you’re like me and you sell 4x6 Mini Prints.
Boxes: I often see these used to elevate certain products and show off certain things. They’re more often than not painted small wooden boxes flipped upside down with the merch placed on top.
Easel Stands: If you’re going to be using Foam Core Boards Or Cork Boards, you’ll need something to prop them up.
Business Cards and Business Card Holder: This may be a weird one to be optional, you’d think it would be up with the essential stuff but, not exactly. I personally prefer to keep businesses cards but, at a Con I went to this year there was alot of people that instead of many business cards they had one little sign with all of their social media (some even had a QR Code) that people would take a picture of.
Brads/Finishing Nails: Again if you’ll be using Foam Core or Cork Board for displays you’ll need something to have your product hang off. I personally prefer brads over finishing nails because they can come in different designs.
Hangers: If you’re selling t-shirts and you’re not going to have them on the table top, you can use hangers to display the t-shirts.

👍✊DIRECTOR'S UPDATE FROM THE AUSTRALIAN FAMILY COALITION✊👍
Dear Damian,
I’ve never felt our country so divided.
This email will probably even divide AFC supporters, but I’m compelled to write it.
Recent weeks have seen a torrent of emails from supporters about vaccine mandates.
Please read to the end before you decide how (or whether) you respond to this email.
Many supporters have asked me: isn’t it strange to focus only on securing freedom of religion and belief when the right of many people to even earn a living is at stake?
No, this is not an “anti-vaxxer” email. (Whatever “anti-vaxxer” even means. The term has become so widely used as a term of abuse as to become almost meaningless, a bit like “bigot” or “extremist”).
I’m not going to discuss people’s health choices. That’s entirely your own business.
But I am going to say, unequivocally, that vaccine mandates are wrong.
Aside from the many AFC supporters who have contacted me, I personally know:
dozens of people who have lost their livelihoods;
a minister who, for most of the week, is now locked out of his own church;
people whose studies are now pointless; and
two people who made short trips interstate and were then denied entry back home! No opportunity to even quarantine – nothing.
Surely even the most ardent supporter of government responses to date would have to admit: this is madness.
Most Aussies have given authorities the benefit of the doubt in terms of Covid responses, especially in the early period.
Who would want to be in their position, really? With such a divided society, with many people anxious and wanting our leaders to “do something”, they must have felt damned if they did, damned if they didn’t.
But it’s been nearly two years now. Two. Whole. Years.
And only now, when the vast majority of the population have been vaccinated, we are seeing mandates rolled out in the most arbitrary and blunt manner possible.
Consultation with those affected has either been lip service or non-existent. At the extreme, even alternatives to simply ending people’s careers, such as rapid testing or redeployment, have been left by the wayside.
It makes a mockery of claims that mandates are there to protect the vulnerable – or even for the wellbeing of those sacked!
No, this is about compulsion, pure and simple. And it’s wrong.
I’ve heard the counter arguments – and I’ve considered them at length. Everything from vaccination as a social good (one of the stronger arguments) to “but you don’t complain when the government makes you wear a seat belt” (a pathetic comparison).
Putting all else aside, even if one has no problem with the vaccines, and considers mandates to be reasonable in the circumstances, surely that person would still have to ask:
Am I comfortable with government having so much control over my life – and even my body?
And when regimes implemented (such as QR codes for checking in) have already been misused for other purposes (however ostensibly noble, such as fighting genuine crime) should we not be alarmed by what they may enable?
I am no conspiracy theorist, but I am a student of history.
Besides, all we need to do is look around us to see how things are playing out.
Look at Victoria, where MPs have been forced to sit through the night to debate some of the most draconian powers ever potentially wielded in Australia.
This shocking power grab would be enough to make even Lord Acton (“power tends to corrupt”) blush.
Now, what’s the point of me saying all this?
One of the reasons AFC has grown so quickly has been its well-defined focus on traditionally “family” issues. We’ve been united on a core scope of challenges and haven’t really delved beyond.
With so many issues directly affecting life and the family unit, especially this year, we’ve also had to use our limited resources prudently.
But things have gotten to a point where I personally believe that, whether vaccinated or not, we all need to speak up.
To do nothing risks untold damage to people’s lives, family wellbeing, and the very social fabric of our country.
And what does “speaking up” look like? Well, this is where I genuinely value your response.
If you believe I’m on the right track, please tell me.
If you disagree with what I’m saying, feel free to tell me too. (I trust you’ll stick with AFC regardless as I’m sure you know the good work it does. Please treat this as a separate issue for now).
I can’t promise you an individual response, as I expect plenty of emails. But I do undertake to try and read your message and incorporate it into my planning going forward.
Whatever your stance on this vexed issue – and I acknowledge many are not simply “for” or “against” but hold a nuanced view – I appreciate you taking the time to consider.
If you’ve been reading my missives for a while, you’ll know that (agree with me or not) I strive for sincerity and the good in whatever I share.
>>> Our next email will be a normal update on the Federal Government’s ‘Religious Discrimination Package’.
Thank you for your continued support.
Best wishes
Damian Wyld
