The thing I want out of everything I want in Season 2.
Wenclair. I just want Wednesday and Enid to be a thing because if not, then Wednesday needs to be aroace.
I accept nothing else. Nothing else is acceptable.
I don’t want a random male love interest at all.
Also please tell me Lady Gaga is the new Nevermore headmistress… because that would be so awesome!
She’d be the one they couldn’t scare off.
OR
She could be the one making it all happen.

a primary early s5 threat is likely a s1-style lone Demogorgon hunting kids...
...and that Demogorgon is probably being directed by Vecna.
at this point others have definitely also come to this conclusion, but I just wanted to lay this out somewhere more clearly/concisely.
first, the evidence from leaks/BTS/footage:
an early s5 filming rumor was that Frank Darabont directed a Home Alone-style sequence with a Demogorgon, which came from the same source as a bunch of other things that have been proven true. plus we clearly have a big sequence in a mansion in a Darabont-directed episode (5.03, The Turnbow Trap) reminiscent of the iconic house in that movie.
the lights are flickering in quite a few scenes that we've seen footage of from eps 1-4, and specifically the ones the feature the child characters (Holly's room and the upstairs bathroom at the Wheeler House in ep 1, at the Turnbow mansion in ep 3, and now at the farm in ep 4)
the strangerwriters twitter account saying "Season 5 is like if season 1 and 4 had a baby. And then that baby was injected with steroids."
the rhythmic banging from the date announcement voice memo/teaser feels like a fairly straightforward callback to the s1 Demogorgon's recurring ominous offscreen footsteps (that then escalates, s1 on steroids etc).
There's obviously something going on with Holly and her classmates, and a not quite yet parseable feedback loop between Vecna and the military's interest in them (considering the pap photos of Henry, Holly, and the other kids in the Creel House Mindscape, and the kids at the military base which we've now seen in the teaser footage)
but more importantly, what would that do for us, character- and plot-wise?
Bring up big feelings for our characters who experienced Will and Barb's disappearances in s1
especially since, according to the season logline, a certain anniversary is coming up...
Tee up a reveal about what it looks like when Vecna is directing a Demogorgon remotely
according to the season logline, Vecna is currently laying low: "[Vecna] has vanished — his whereabouts and plans unknown." similarly, it's pretty clear he's been part of the picture this whole time but if that's the case he had to have been acting from a significant remove in s1 too.
while we are also revisiting Will's time in the Upside Down in 1983 in flashback form, showing us a version of Vecna's s1 strategy in the present would be an additional opportunity to surface some answers after years of the "Was Will taken intentionally or just a bystander? Did Will see Vecna or the Demogorgon on Mirkwood?" discourse.
Serve as a device to travel into the Upside Down
if they bring back the s1 Demogorgon's ability to create smaller, temporary gates, our cast should be more prepared to take advantage of that opportunity to travel to/from the Upside Down this time around. (though the time limit on the lil Demogorgon gates makes that risky...and might lead to something like perhaps a certain character whose early season activities are still a big question mark being stuck in the same clothes for three-quarters of the season)
please don't ask me to square that with Vecna's s3/s4 needing to steal El's powers in order to open his own gates via elaborate teen murder ritual I'm not a writer on this show. let's say it's probably a question of magnitude/temporality for now

so yes, I have come around to feeling like this is probably one of the big drivers of the early s5 plot (after really walking the long way around to get here even though in retrospect like anything it seems like the most obvious choice for them to make, and I think a smart one). other supernatural forces should also be at work - I'm at least feeling some mysterious medical stuff going around, and maybe disappearances via an additional mechanic. plus the Demogorgon situation would start more at a 1.03/1.04 level and escalate quickly, building to a new monster/s reveal around the end of 5.04 with whatever is knocking at the downtown military base's door in the teaser.
and still more to suss out on Vecna's motivations here, what's going on with his Creel House Mindscape set up with the kids (maybe playing both sides by siccing a scary monster on them and then getting to swoop in as a benevolent helper?), how the military's interest in the kids factors in, and then Max's role in all this.
#this does mean i feel like i have less idea wtf is happening with holly than i have in a while#i was a real 'actually the military takes her' proponent but now that all feels up in the air#stranger things#st5 speculation#st5 leaks#st5 spoilers#el hopper#will byers

- This black market is kinda lame tbh… like not as big and cool as I thought it’d be
- I hate when they fight omg
- Brooklyn needs to dye her hair, she sticks out like a sore thumb here lmao
- Why is bro so out of breath?
- You’re famous, of course he knows who you are
- The subtitles on Netflix are slightly off and I hate it
- They’re so awkward I love them
- I wouldn’t be letting Smoothie out of my hands after last episode the fuck
- Both sides of this argument are very valid in my opinion
- They’re brothers!!

- It’s like the cattle drive episode in CC season 1!!
- They’re definitely not making their flight home
- The pyroraptor is so cool
- The animation on the avalanche is so cool
- This show would be amazing if it were pg-13. Don’t get me wrong, it’s still my favorite show, but it would be cool if we saw blood and stuff

- I do like the references to the first season of CT

- The setting this season is actually really cool
- Damn she got a running start on that punch

- Yeah they’ve been fucking you guys up left and right
- Darius, buddy, sometimes you just gotta go along with the lie
- GIRL PUT DOWN THE LASER POINTER
- Love that, canonically, Ben’s taken down TWO carnotauruses
- Damn she went for the throat with those insults
- BITCH SLAPPED HER
- Reunion!! Please!!
- They actually probably would mind, I think this is all very confidential

Hey, thoughtful, Hope you're doing well! What are your insights going into S4? It's crazy to think it's a month away
Hey there! Life is good, and I hope yours is too. They're doing a much better job with teasers this season compared to last season, when we had a long trailer. So far, there are only teasers that emphasize love and family, and the overall vibe is very positive!
Honestly, this feels like it could be the final season. The trailers remind me of This Is Us. They keep reminding us of happy moments, and when Carmy tells someone they're not alone, we don't know who that person is. I suspect it could be Richie, as it seems like they want us to think it might be Sydney, but there's definitely a theme about loneliness among these three which is supposed to make us question Sydney or Richie.
We have some questions to ponder! This is a long one:
1. Will Sydney choose to work with Shapiro and leave her family?
I think she might for a while, but the beginning of the season will be a bumpy ride. We weren’t supposed to know about the argument between Sydney and Carmy.
2. How will Carmy react to the news of Shapiro's offer?
Although Carmy seems more positive and lighter this season, I doubt he’ll take the news well. It will be one of his objectives this season as he tries to reach self-actualization. They’re definitely leaving us wondering if Sydney and Carmy will get closer – I think they’ll end up closer than we expect, and we won't be ready for it.
3. Will Carmy end up with Claire, or is it over?
Not for the first half of the season. Remember, we weren’t supposed to know about the argument where Carmy says, “I didn’t do anything.” So, what could Carmy have done to hurt Claire? I think he led her on in some way and betrayed her trust.
4. Will Carmy talk to Donna?
Yes, but not until the end. I think this is the final season, or maybe they’re holding out to see if they should renew it based on the ending. It looks like we might end with another cliffhanger, but it will be satisfying, so be prepared!
5. Will Richie attend the wedding?
This seems obvious, and Donna will be there talking to Sydney.
Let’s revisit the trailer; there’s a strong theme about family. You have your family, but what truly makes a family? It's about two people coming together and creating something. There’s a connection with family dynamics, often linked to life partnerships. Tiffany was married to Richie, but even after their breakup, she still calls him her family. Pete wears a Berzatto shirt after their child is born, he and Natalie created something, and Claire is referred to as “Clairebear,” which makes us suspicious of her role. We're led to believe Claire is the one, but they can't fool us.
Back to Richie – yes, he will attend the wedding, and he’s moving in a positive direction. Carmy is telling Richie he’s not alone, and Carmy is looking at someone who is taller than him.
7. As for the Michelin star, will we get it? What will the review be?
Yes, a star, and it will be a positive review. Carmy is trying to figure out how to be happy and joyful, rather than waiting for the other shoe to drop. But guess what? The other shoe will drop at the beginning of the season: Sydney will take Shapiro's offer, and he’ll briefly reconcile with Claire. A significant twist this season will be Sydney becoming actual family, as she tries to figure out whether she’ll stay with Carmy while navigating a more complicated situation.
Syd and Carmy are about to consummate or just kiss, the biggest surprise of the season, and this will be the driving force that makes things even more complicated.
#caan this be a convo for everyone#what are your theories#sydcarmy#okay but hear me out#theey diddn't expectt sydcarmy people to pick it up so quickly but also they can only deny it until it finally happens and they're#going to say duh#storer and senior and calo never beating thee syddcarmy allegations#Sydney Adamu Berzatto#The trailer is too positive so be prepared for explosion.

Hacks Episode 3x09 Thoughts
Okay, so back during S2, I wrote up my thoughts about each pair of Hacks episodes as they dropped – partially for sharing but largely as an archive for myself of my own thoughts/feelings to revisit when I watched the episodes later to see how they held up, how it compared to watch them serially vs. as a whole season, etc. Anyway, I was incredibly stressed out and busy for much of this season (after over a year of that being the key set of words to describe my life), but I wanted to throw out my thoughts about the finale before they grow too stale! And maybe I’ll come back and revisit the prior episodes in posts later when I have the time (hopefully in just a couple short weeks!) to enjoy them properly
As always, disjointed bulleted lists are the name of the game, going from the big picture to the detailed:
Overall, this felt like a very solid episode in the vein of season 1 in many ways! It brought us back to the interpersonal as the primary ground of conflict after many episodes (here and in S2) of the new hour, the special, and the Late Night host gig quest being our main plot drivers (which, at many times, made for weaker storytelling for reasons that exceed the scope of this post!). In particular, I felt like this episode hit its stride around the halfway point, and never really faltered after that in impressive ways!
That being said, I had two somewhat significant critiques of the finale (both of which reflect larger trends about strands of the show that continue to leave me a little disappointed)
We should have seen Marcus' conversation with Deborah about the new job. Period. I'll get into what could have been cut in my second critique, but even if there weren't weak spots in the episode, I still would have been deeply disappointed in the show for this oversight, especially since they apparently filmed it. Although Hacks is clearly a show with a leading duo, it once had a core ensemble, but S2 saw them moved more and more to B-plots and bit roles, and now S3 has seen many of the characters we know and love eliminated almost entirely--a point that's particularly galling given that it's almost entirely characters of color (many of them canonically queer) who have been cut in favor of new white characters. Moreover, this scene would have been SO IMPORTANT - I could have seen it going 2 ways: a) Marcus quits after the convo where Deborah tells Ava she's willing to lose her, and Deborah has a reaction that is so utterly outsized because it's the terror of losing the person she's had with her the longest now compounded with the reality setting in that she's also driven away the woman who gave her new life when she most needed it; or b) Marcus shows up to quit, and Deborah immediately launches into a rant about Ava's leaving, which puts Marcus in the awkward spot of adding to that at a pivotal moment in the career of the woman he's spent much of his adult life with or giving up something he needs to do for himself; it could have been a lovely callback to S1 when he shows up with his whole speech prepared but then accepts the promotion without ever telling Deborah how he feels - only this time Marcus would have changed so much, and he'd have the opportunity to showcase that growth by insisting that he needs to do this for him. So many lost opportunities...
re what could have been cut because imo it did NOT work: Kathy Vance's return. Now, I love Hacks in large part because it insists on the complexity of its characters. No one is purely the victim or the hero of the story, and Deborah's "click" moment showcased that better than anything. AND YET the writing here did not work. Back in the Christmas ep, I messaged a friend saying I was glad that they brought Kathy back but seemed not to ask us to side with her - after all, she comes crashing back into Deborah's life, doesn't take ownership over her actions and in fact insists she was in the right because it only happened a few times, because Deborah wasn't sleeping with him (very "you weren't playing with it, so it's mine now" little sister energy that is deeply unappealing in a grown ass adult), and because they were the "better couple" which is, I'm sorry, NEVER the fucking thing to tell someone whose marriage and life you destroyed. I joked then that I'd take back my compliments if her role in the finale suggested that actually we should be on Kathy's side here. And lo and behold... What's a real bummer is that there were ways to do this better! Because you can have sympathy for an imperfect character--this show is a testament to that fact!--but not like this. We as an audience have no reason to side with Kathy when she insists that Deborah will be worse than ever and berates her for cutting their weekend short. Instead, we see a woman with a large sense of entitlement she's done nothing to earn and directorial choices that don't make it a smooth transition. But what could have been lovely is, for instance, treating the Christmas and finale reunions as these deflationary moments of anticipation and disappointment because they are, after this many decades, essentially strangers to one another. Had we seen two women who longed for the deep affective ties of their childhood relationship only to be confronted with the cold hard fact of their estrangement from one anther, it would have been so much more powerful. And here you could ACTUALLY garner sympathy (some) for Kathy by having it be this moment of "I lost my sister" partially through her own actions "to Late Night once, and now, right when I have a chance to try to build something with her again, I feel like I'm going to lose her again before I can even really try to do right by her this go around." THAT could have worked. This was just too much time on something that did almost nothing in the grand scheme of the plot (because we didn't have the emotional connection to feel it as another compounding loss for Deborah in an episode where Ava's "and you're going to die alone" could have landed with even more force)
Okay so it turns out this is getting hella fucking long, so some shorter praise and giddy feelings things:
I LOVE how often Ava got to say the things we've all been squeeing about for years during this episode - especially that the material is good because of their relationship, not the other way around; their dynamic is not incidental to the work, and that's so important to me personally.
I had guessed that Ava would be offered head writer and quit her current job, only to have it taken away because Deborah was too scared to rock the boat, but I did NOT see the end coming! In fact, I kind of thought Ava might end up suing Deborah for intellectual property theft (using material Ava wrote outside of her contractual appointment for the new show because, surprise surprise, the writers who sucked when she was a guest still suck now compared to Ava!) In fact, I sort of thought that end scene might end up being a return to the car scene, and was relishing the thought of Ava's mimicking Deb's "It'll be fun, honey." But the blackmail as a form of love/devotion was soooo much better. Truly chef's kiss.
Also the way this rewrote the S2 finale even as the underlying message remained the same is so special to me - I'll stay with you even when it's bad for me (sacrificing my career -> sacrificing my morals) because it's good for you and more importantly it's good for us and the work. JPL know how to write a finale, and I'd give up a kidney to have that same energy be there throughout a whole season again (not that the eps are bad, but they lack some of the sharpness in writing and emotional depth that JPL do so well with finales and also often with the first couple eps of a season too)
Lastly JPL going on the record that Deborah was turned on by that final scene + Ava's "I would, wouldn't you?" and "Let's begin" - truly some of the hottest TV. We're so back babyyy. No more half naked superheroes with all the eroticism of a desk chair. Give me messy women determined to fling themselves into the air because they know the thrill is worth everything good and safe they're leaving behind, even if they hit the ground with no parachute!
I have many, many thoughts about S3 and what's to come, but I'll save them for another post because phewww this got long as fuck

demon slayer notes
i started watching demon slayer, without having read the manga, at the urging of a family friend who is new to anime and insists it's extremely good. here are my thoughts on the anime and then the entire manga through to its end.
in this post, i appended followup notes to some points upon revisiting them because i had to make sure to go back and tell my past self what happened.
i watched episodes 1 through 20 without writing anything because i wasn't planning to. i watched many of those episodes on my phone, which is unusual for me, but i was traveling at the time. so i probably missed some finer visual details.
my impression of the show before i started, from having skimmed the start of its wikipedia page some months ago, was that it seemed to be relatively high quality but very formulaic Standard Shounen Fare, and it did not catch my interest. after watching 20 episodes, that opinion hasn't really changed. so many of the elements of the show are typical and just barely riff on extremely basic tropes. i'm sure there are many people who argue that demon slayer in fact drastically and ingeniously transforms those generic shounen tropes, but i'm not so sure about that. [followup note: the story does improve in terms of nuance later on, but i'm not retracting this paragraph.]
they did kind of an amazing job on the anime in terms of animation and effects. i should really rewatch those first 20 episodes on my computer screen so i can better appreciate it.
tanjirou is a very, very good boy. almost too good. where are his flaws? his internal monologues are always so apt. almost too apt. his backstory is of course compelling, but he hasn't won me over quite yet… i do like his headbutts, though… [followup note: i guess his flaw is his penchant for excessive self-sacrifice? which is one of those job interview "flaws" that is more likely to be a virtue.]
i'm looking forward to nezuko having more and more agency as the story progresses.
i'm looking forward to zenitsu learning to shut the fuck up more and more as the story progresses. i do have to give his voice actor a lot of credit for going completely all-out every time and never holding back.
i immediately love inosuke because he's a dumb bastard.
will tomioka giyuu fill the hayakawa aki-shaped hole in my heart by not being doomed? [followup note: not really. good for him not being doomed though!]
the art style is so samefacey… golden kamuy spoiled me…
the demon slayer corps seems to think it's hot shit and have many, many levels of hierarchy, but they're disorganized enough to regularly and greatly underestimate the threat of demons such that they keep sending their own fighters to their deaths. they need to work on their intelligence gathering, if nothing else.
all the hashira seem to care an awful lot about the life of the hypothetical person hypothetically killed by nezuko, but their organization is sloppy and heartless in its deploying of weak demon slayers. is this clumsy writing with plot holes, or is it a hint for the astute as to the organization's dirtiness and disorder? [followup note: i want to say it was the former or i guess neither. the master turns out to be really humble and kind to his hashiras. did he not grasp how bad a job they were doing wrt casualties?]
i like how sanemi's eyes continue to look insane even when he's calmly using polite speech
"My arms and legs are really short right now." ~zenitsu while his arms and legs are really short
i do hope boys watch this and come away with the idea that tanjirou's habit of intense and unconditional kindness is cool.
i did like when the girls told zenitsu to his face to be respectful to girls and he was humbled. [followup note: i discovered this was added into the anime and not present in the manga. good addition]
the last few seconds of the OP for the mugen train arc make it seem like rengoku is gonna die. (explicitly prepares my heart for that)
by the way, after the first season ended and we're on to the next arc, inosuke is still the best. i don't do it myself, but i enjoy watching others live life with true wild abandon. i really enjoy his kind of annoyingness more than zenitsu's.
rengoku is committed to never breaking eye contact with the camera
in ep2 of the train arc, tanjirou said "and where are you looking?!" (in japanese) to rengoku, but they translated it as "and when did you get so big?!" because i guess they felt like it would be a better visual joke because they animated rengoku really big? but they should've kept the "where are you looking?" because it's funny that tanjirou addressed what i was already thinking and had in fact written in the previous point. they did it twice in one episode too. is this going to be something we learn about rengoku? that he doesn't look at people? i thought we saw him look at people… [followup note: it's not. also the same joke was in the manga so they especially should have translated it right.]
rengoku said that black sword bearers never know which thing to master. obvious flag for "tanjiro's going to master them all of them and be the biggest baddest hashira in shounen history." too obvious (if i'm right) [i was wrong]
who's gonna tell gotouge-sensei that headbutts don't make your head bleed
prediction: kibutsuji targeted tanjirou's family because of their ancestry and some great prophecy about how that bloodline is fated to someday defeat him. he killed everyone who was home but thought that had to be all the kids because there were so many. he turned nezuko into a demon just to see what would happen and/or because he did actually remember the right number of kids and he wanted her to kill tanjirou. it may also turn out that kibutsuji was responsible for tanjirou's dad's death and/or the scars on both their heads. [followup note: i was wrong about a lot of this, but he did target them for their bloodline]
tanjirou gathered the courage to slit his own throat waaay too easily and quickly.
the netflix translator for the subs for the first few episodes (at least) of the train arc is taking far too many liberties for my liking. i wonder if the subs are different on crunchyroll, which i don't have. i should note that the first 20ish episodes i watched, i watched on a non-netflix non-crunchyroll site and i guess they were fan subs. but i didn't notice anything wrong with those subs.
"I fused my being with this entire train!" ok i've been giving this anime some shit for being predictable, but credit where credit is due, i did not expect that. that's really funny. i hate Lower One's voice btw.
i can tell that some, if not all, of the move names characters shout out are puns like the move names in one piece, but because there are no translation notes, i can't understand them :( [followup note: there aren't any in the official translation either :( and i looked up an unofficial translation and it didn't have any either :( i guess when i'm done with the manga i'll look at a wiki for the move name meanings… of course i dare not look at a wiki when spoilers are still a concern…] [followup followup: didn't care enough before posting this to look at the move name meanings]
anyone who has read my blog, you know what i'm gonna say about nipples, right? it's obvious, right? about inosuke's and others' empty chests. it's obvious. people will be like "you want explicit nipples depicted on the chests of TEEN BOYS?" no i want minimal abstract representations of nipples because everyone has them and it's normal and it's weirder to see a blank aladdin chest. this is about NIPPLE POSITIVITY. i will die on this hill time after time
if two guys are fighting a train together and they synchronize their breathing, is it gay
i liked when inosuke gently set injured tanjirou back down. character development
ok i REALLY dislike the netflix subs for these episodes. don't ADD shit. it's simple. just don't. you have to respect the author. you have to respect the author.
i prepared myself for rengoku's death. thanks for the hint, train arc OP. i see now that he was introduced to serve the purpose of character development for tanjirou.
the appeal of a stone-faced character like tomioka giyuu is twofold: a) they look cool all the time, and b) you develop a desire to see them emote.
tanjirou's gonna get yelled at for losing his sword again…
i like how akaza made it a point to beat up tanjirou's sword. to give us viewers closure as to whether tanjirou was gonna get that sword back.
i feel like i've seen an oversized amount of fanart involving rengoku, given the length of his lifespan in the show. (nothing i looked up, but just by osmosis.) is this like a portgas d. ace situation? i hate shipping ace with anyone because he's dead. or could it be that the character i've seen around was actually senjurou? doubtful
zenitsu's VA is doing a good job, like i said, but i bet zenitsu is a lot more lovable in the manga where you don't actually have to listen to him losing his shit…
i'll officially be mad if anything happens to inosuke.
uzui's three weed-smoking girlfriends…
so the boys are not even just infiltrating the houses of pleasure but they're aiming for the rank of oiran
tanjirou's bad lying face can't compete with luffy's bad lying face… sorry… [followup note: it was better in the manga]
inosuke who can get ahold of himself well enough to actually stfu and act like a girl… excellent
yeah fuck the translator for these netflix subs in the entertainment district arc too. you can't just write whatever you think would sound cool for their lines.
i have to find out the japanese for inosuke's catchphrase "comin' through" (according to this translation). wait i should just turn japanese captions on. ……there are no japanese captions… gimme a break…
they're literally in japan, literally wearing traditional japanese clothing, and they translate "obi" into "belt" instead of leaving it as is. am i overestimating how many people would know what an obi is........?
i do think it's a smart and interesting decision to explicitly section the anime into arcs instead of seasons, or rather, you could say, putting season breaks only at arc breaks. very smart.
uzui's own wife calls him tengen-sama? red flag
you know, i did have one major misconception about this story. i thought that the fact that yaiba is in the name would mean that tanjirou would inherit some particular sacred demon-obliterating blade and it would play a major part in the story (a predictable trope). but tanjirou in fact keeps destroying his swords. maybe that will actually happen later. [followup note: it didn't really. i mean tanjirou gets his one good sword later, but it's not like the sword is what wins the fight for him or anything.]
looked at tanjirou and thought "deku" tally: ||||||||||||||||||||||||
this story sure does have a lot of the protagonist's internal monologue. that's somewhat unusual for shounen, i feel like. is tanjirou just conjuring up text boxes all the time in the manga? i guess i'll have to read it after this… for completionism. [followup note: it seems the manga has an unnamed narrator who sometimes chimes in and they excluded that from the anime completely, instead relying on a combination of show-don't-tell and tanjirou narrating instead. not a bad choice.]
nezuko bit through her gag, which was really good, but she didn't immediately start talking, which is what should have happened. to remind us that she can. other demons can talk. [followup note: i see now that she is apparently left in a childlike state and has to relearn talking. ok]
(watches nezuko shrink back from grownup mode) self-infantilizing imouto…
ok, i figured out that the subs are just the lines from the dubs. that means my ire lies with whoever translated the lines for the netflix dubs. that's right, i'm not just gonna excuse it because i was mistaken about the source.
tanjirou looking at ezui and seeing rengoku's head appear next to him is 100% a death flag. his three weed-smoking wives are gonna mourn him at the end of this arc. it's gonna be the start of a pattern of tanjirou getting scarred by the loss of hashira after hashira right in front of him. [followup: glad for tanjirou that this didn't happen.]
by the way, i bet someone out there has something smart to say about uzui's three wives and what they mean for feminism. i don't care to think about it very hard though. but i know someone does.
zenitsu is conveniently asleep for a very long time in this very long battle
the budget for this anime must have been SO high. or the animators were seriously overworked. because there is so much love and so much hard work put into what seems like EVERY single shot. it's incredible. like some of these shots there's no logical need to go so hard but it's just sooo consistent that every shot has to have a life-changing amount of work put into it. i can't get over it.
(after entertainment arc ep9) i said i would be pissed if anything happened to inosuke, and i meant it. we'll see what happens from here. if inosuke dies, i'm not reading the manga. because i'm stubborn.
gyuutaro called tanjirou a bonkler…
this battle was already frustratingly long and now the defeated gyuutaro's dead defeated corpse had to release one last extremely destructive attack? according to what logic?
i like when nezuko has tanjirou on her back for once. reverse sibling onbu
this smells a lot more like hunter x hunter than hero academia or one piece. in terms of the character designs, to some degree, and everyone's penchant for talking a lot, and vibes. and i'm saying "smells" in my own way and not in a tanjirou way, okay?
they have IVs in the taisho era? with saline? i don't know anything about history.
does everyone in the sword village need the hyottoko mask? at all times?
i can tell by the OP of the sword village arc that demons will attack the sword village.
i really like the artistic choice of letting characters emote through their masks if necessary.
this son of a bitch has poison too? isn't this getting old?
i liked the little episode preview where kanroji is asked how she sheaths her sword and the answer is she simply just does. very good
of course even haganezuka turns out to be a hottie (rolls eyes emoji)
i don't want to call out gyokko here, but he could just put muichirou in the water vase again.
kibutsuji looks a lot less laughable without his stupid fucking hat.
so demons started existing because kibutsuji took weird medicine from his doctor?? [followup note: I Guess So.]
i guess i have to give gotouge-sensei credit for really sticking with the gimmick of the whole sword village wearing those masks.
i like genya.
tokitou's soft spot for tanjirou is really cute
i caught up with the anime without writing very much. i'm still blown away by the production value. speaking of blown away, i'm curious as to what happened to 2 of kagaya's 5 apparent daughters. [followup note: they really died.]
[{{{{{{{{caught up with the anime}}}}}}}}]
[{{{{{{{{comments below concern the manga}}}}}}}}]
inosuke lived, so i started reading the manga. i'm struck by the different feeling that tanjirou gives off. manga tanjirou seems a little more serious and less perky. maybe it has to do with the line delivery in the anime shaping my view of him (though the voice actor has done a great job). i did, at the beginning of the anime, get the strong early impression that tanjirou's voice was very "grown man trying hard to do a teen boy voice," and i cringed just a bit. but that feeling faded as the anime went on. i also assume the art style changes a lot as the manga progresses, such that the style resembles the anime's style more in later chapters. the anime seems to have done an amazing job of faithfully and precisely adapting the manga, at least for early chapters. i'm really jealous of the demon slayer anime on behalf of all the great mangas that got weird or lousy anime adaptations.
the babyface style of the early manga is also very strong. even giyuu looks like a little kid.
and genya's face in his first appearance is really funny. he got a glowup for the anime. whereas zenitsu looks 100% the same. i'm looking forward to inosuke's manga face.
i read a lot more of the manga without saying anything. i've gone on and on about the high quality of the anime, but i kind of feel like the manga is better. that is to say, the art feels very authentic and pure and full of love and care. manga tanjirou is just as much of a Very Good Boy as anime tanjirou, but without a certain feeling of Trying Very Hard. is it the voice?
the manga has a kind of Classic feel to it. not like it resembles any particular manga from the past, but more like, gotouge-sensei was aiming high and trying to make something evergreen. trying to forge a new classic.
and reading the manga was shocking because it's like, the anime is truly the most faithful adaptation i've ever seen. every scene feels like it's shot-for-shot-for-shot precisely what was in the manga, with every line carried over. practically nothing was left out. the spacing and timing of content was perfect; nothing was excessively crammed or stretched out. only a few things were added, like the scene with the bento sellers before the train arc (unless that came from some bonus chapter i never saw). but the additions feel normal and necessary. truly a staggeringly faithful and loving adaptation. why did they give demon slayer this exceptional treatment…? because reading the manga, it's like, this is good… but is it life-changingly good enough for them to have gone THIS all-out with the anime? i haven't decided yet. [followup note: i still haven't decided?? i might make future posts about this.]
right, demon slayer is solidly good, i would say, but on the whole, it's not quite For Me. that's because if i evaluate it by my old standby metric, the COCK test, it is decidedly NOT Completely unhinged, and there is a decided lack of Creatures. to be perfectly fair, i'm sure it Offends the church, and it does Kick ass. and really, if someone is just a bit less weirdly picky than me, this manga could change their life. but it's just not batshit insane enough to push all my buttons. i feel some hunter x hunter influence, but obviously hunter x hunter knew how to be insane enough. not that hunter x hunter does it all for me either.
it does get credit for having somewhat deeper and rounder characters than jujutsu kaisen. like at least they have an extremely strong reason to be doing what they're doing.
the manga is self-serious in a genuine way, and the anime feels self-serious in a very slightly phony way. though i don't mean they're overly self-serious. there is welcome comic relief in both. it's better in the manga but still well-translated into the anime (literal translations of the subtitles aside). and the comic relief is actually funny a lot of the time, which is more than i can say about jujutsu kaisen. this has been my obligatory shitting on jujutsu kaisen for the first time in a while. if you missed it, the story is that i gave jujutsu kaisen all the chances in the world for me to love it, but it disappointed me (and killed my favorite character for no reason).
i've been worried this whole time, not having a good sense of exactly how much chapters have been squashed or stretched, about how many chapters would remain after i caught up with the story as far as the anime went. but now i'm just about at the end of the hashira training arc (mansion just blew up) and there are still about 60 chapters left. that's sooo many. i was worried there wouldn't be much story left, but there is! that's good, because there's a lot left to explain.
i have noticed exactly what has been added to the anime adaptation. pretty much everything added was smart and suitable. although the extremely long approach of kibutsuji to kagaya's bedside was i think not so necessary. but yeah, fleshing out the training in the hashira arc a bit, going into slightly more detail on people's backstories, adding a few more character building moments, none of it feels irritating in any way. but if it turns out they added any zenitsu whining moments, that's unforgivable. there are already enough of those.
i bet huge inosuke fans were a little irritated at the casting of his voice. a true ruffian's voice that clashes to the extreme with his pretty face. i think it's pretty apt though. maybe a little too large-adult-sounding. but teenage boys are like that.
i've been reading an unofficial manga translation, not sure who it's by, and it's interesting to note which phrases were left untranslated in this compared to in the official translation. in this unofficial TL, why is oyakata-sama left as such instead of translating it to "master" when it's just a title that plainly means "master?" and in the netflix subs/dubs, why are hashira and hinokami kagura left untranslated? and yet both translated "obi" as either "belt" or "sash" when i think it could have safely been left as is. and why was "nichirin sword" left untranslated in both when you could just call it a sun blade or sun sword? is it because nichirin sounds too cool and japanese?
oh yeah, i kept thinking but kept forgetting to write: it's well known that demons are always eating humans, but we don't see them in the actual act of eating people very often at all. it seems they often like to just kill people, like weasels kill hens. for fun. but we have seem douma in the act of eating people note once but twice.
the unifying backstory of Everyone's family being killed by demons is getting a little old…
ok i remembered one bad thing the anime did. giving us that whole ridiculous nezuko montage when she was exposed to the sun and we thought she was gonna get obliterated. that was reeeally pushing it. trying that hard to fool us is just embarrassing for you.
so ubuyashiki kagaya became a father at the age of 15. no, younger, because kiriya has two (twin?) elder sisters. at least 14.
the two ubuyashiki girls did die… that's not cool… don't use them just to confuse kibutsuji…
zenitsu leveled up? zenitsu can work while awake now? maybe he'll also shut the fuck up?
…
i ended up staying up very, very late and read many dozens of chapters in one night and finished demon slayer. not the best circumstances for properly absorbing the story, but i did it anyway.
i was not prepared for genya to die and i think that should not have happened. we needed to see more of him and his future. i'll say it: it should have been sanemi instead. justice for genya.
i don't think that many hashiras needed to die… especially tokitou-kun didn't need to die so horribly... and i certainly didn't expect sanemi to be one of only 2 hashira survivors.
i guess we're just lucky that inosuke and zenitsu got away with all their limbs intact. limbs were dropping like flies for a while there.
i was satisfied with the reveal of the backstory about the tsugikuni brothers and how yoriichi entrusted his earrings and stuff to tanjirou's ancestral family.
i thought the final reveal that yoriichi's 13th move was all the other moves strung together didn't have an amazing payout in the end… did it? did i miss something big?
there was the Explicit mention, in dialogue, that kanroji and iguro and others may reincarnate happily. i wish gotouge-sensei would have allowed that to happen in the audience's imagination instead of having a timeskip chapter that shows everyone's descendants and reincarnations. it wasn't unbearable, but i didn't like it. also inosuke's descendant didn't go hog wild at all.
after reading the whole manga and no longer fearing spoilers, i finally looked up inosuke's catchphrase. i was very pleased to find out that it is chototsumoushin 猪突猛進, which is an existing four-character compound that includes the kanji for boar and means rushing recklessly (as a boar does). i knew there would be some degree of untranslatable nuance in there! the nuance is that that phrase definitely describes an undesirable act, but inosuke yells it with glee while rushing in recklessly, and that is perfect. it's like yelling "BULL IN A CHINA SHOP!" in the anime, one subtitle translation was "COMIN' THROUGH!" which is a little lifeless and completely missing any boar energy. my favorite translation is "BOAR RUSH!" because it carries the boar energy and makes it seem like he's shouting a move name when he's really just barreling around the hallway. i don't remember if i saw that one in the netflix translation or if it was a fansub. one more version i saw, in an unofficial manga translation, was "pig assault." that one's not a winner. it isn't even the kanji for pig; it's the kanji for boar. also if i had been watching the anime with earbuds it's entirely possible i would have been able to discern what inosuke was saying from the beginning, because i went back and he says it quite clearly, but that doesn't matter now.
i feel a little weird about making a whole long post about something i don't have crazy strong feelings about, but i wrote all this out, so... read my important opinions... sorry for saying "i guess" so much and using so many ellipses...
overall, i wish the ending was less bittersweet (i hate character death, as always) and dislike the timeskip chapter, but i still rate demon slayer (the story itself) as GOOD. that means it is worth watching and reading. there are several slots above GOOD on my personal rating scale, but GOOD isn't bad. it's GOOD. and that's what demon slayer is. someday i will probably rewatch and/or reread, and i'll keep up with the next anime season.
#demon slayer spoilers#kimetsu no yaiba spoilers#this is a liveblog#if demon slayer is your hyperfixation you might not like my frank opinions about it so be warned

Ok friends. Final theory of spooky S13 here we go.
1. Scene opens with Pascal in the interrogation room being questioned. Kelly goes to try to talk to Van Meter, but he's not really having it at the moment so Kelly sets off on his fire cop adventures.
2. Something happens with Julia prompting Stella to have to go to the school. What i cant figure out or understand is why the school called Stella. She's not a relative or guardian. Unless Julia lied & gave them her contact under the guise of Stella being her sister or something. Anyway, whatever it is, Stella goes down there. Stella decides to invite both sisters back to the loft. Stella helps them hash it out.
3. I'm under the impression that Pascal is suspended pending investigation (if he's not I'm going to be a little annoyed because he's facing attempted MURDER charges) They come raid his house with a search warrant looking for evidence. Maybe they even find something? 🤔
4. Kellys fire copping fire copping fire copping. Clears Pascals name. Bishop would honestly be too easy, so if not Bishop, then WHO? Seeing a few theories that it's Vale. If you think it's him, can you explain the motive? Framing Pascal won't bring Monica back unless the goal is to punish Pascal. If it's Vale, it would definitely be a good surprise. To me, at least.
5. Hermann prepares for the chief test but has an epiphany & decides not to take it. Either that or he takes it and fails because subconsciously, he's been sabotaging this outcome since the beginning.
Maybe there's some fall out or angst now between Mouch & Hermann setting up an arc for S14.
6. Mikarver endgame. How i genuinely don't know. Only thing I can think of is Violet blurts it out calling back how Carver blurted it out in 12x13 finale. "Stupid enough to have fallen in love with you" or whatever he said.
7. Stellaride loft scene to close out the hour. Calling back to 12x13 when Kelly said maybe they start a family instead, it's Stella's version. She talks about the failed adoption & the pain it brought. She talks about Natalie & how helping her has really just affirmed now more than ever she really wants this family with him. The episode ends with Stella telling Kelly she wants to revisit the topic of pregnancy & that maybe they should try & see what happens.
Now it's Kelly's turn to be speechless. Family arc continues into 14 but from a different lens. Stellaride are now both on the same page & they jump right on in.
Credits roll & we sit on our hands for 4 months in anticipation because Newman has found yet another way to drag this Stellaride baby arc into another season.
I'm not anticipating anything from Ritter, Damon, Novak, Mouch, Cruz, etc.
I dont think the call will actually be impactful in anyway however it is a gunstore & we know the last time there was a fire with ammo... I feel like Squad would be there if the call went south though. Like 9x16.. squad 3 responded to the call but 61 & 81 rolled up for Stella to see Kelly was in danger.
Those are my theories. What are yours? Drop down in the comments or hit me in the asks/dms. Let's chat about it. I need the distraction 😩

How to Overcome Local Market Challenges with Homes for Sale in Prattville, AL: A Seller’s Guide to Getting the Best Deal
Selling a home is never as simple as putting up a “For Sale” sign and waiting for buyers to come knocking—especially in a tight-knit local market like Prattville, Alabama. Even though Prattville’s real estate scene remains strong and steady, local sellers often face unique hurdles that can make or break a deal.
Whether you’re selling your first home or moving up to your dream house, understanding and overcoming these challenges can help you attract serious buyers, sell faster, and pocket the best possible price.
This comprehensive guide will break down the common issues sellers face with homes for sale in Prattville, AL, and give you practical strategies to tackle them head-on.

1. Understand the Prattville Housing Market
The Prattville market combines the charm of small-town Alabama with convenient access to Montgomery’s job market. This makes it appealing to families, military personnel stationed at Maxwell Air Force Base, and retirees alike.
However, this unique buyer mix means that pricing must be spot-on. Overpricing your home can scare away budget-conscious buyers, while underpricing leaves money on the table.
How to overcome it:
Check recent comparable sales. Look at what similar homes for sale in Prattville, AL, sold for in the last 6–12 months.
Know the seasonality: In Prattville, spring and early summer are peak buying seasons. Listing at the right time can help you sell faster.
Work with a local expert: A local agent knows neighborhood trends and buyer profiles better than a big-city broker.
2. Price It Right—The First Time
One of the biggest mistakes Prattville sellers make is testing the market with a high price “just to see what happens.” This often backfires: overpriced homes sit unsold, get stale, and attract lowball offers.
How to overcome it:
Start with a realistic price: well-priced homes sell faster and often receive multiple offers.
Be ready to adjust: If your home hasn’t had serious showings in the first few weeks, it’s time to revisit the price.
Use price bands: Buyers search online using price brackets. Pricing at $299,900 rather than $305,000 might catch more eyes.
3. Make a Great First Impression
In a market where buyers have choices, curb appeal is crucial. Many Prattville buyers are families looking for a move-in-ready home—peeling paint, an overgrown yard, or outdated fixtures can scare them away.
How to overcome it:
Boost curb appeal: Fresh paint, a power-washed driveway, a mowed lawn, and tidy landscaping work wonders.
Stage key areas: Focus on the living room, kitchen, and master bedroom. Remove clutter and personalize with neutral décor.
Fix obvious issues: Leaky faucets, squeaky doors, and cracked windows should be repaired before showings.
A clean, inviting home helps buyers see themselves living there—and that’s what sells.
4. Market Beyond the MLS
Listing your house on the MLS is just the starting point. In Prattville, word-of-mouth and local connections often matter just as much.
How to overcome it:
Use high-quality photos: Listings with professional photos attract more clicks.
Add a video tour. Virtual walkthroughs are a must for out-of-town buyers, including military families moving to the area.
Promote on social media: Share your listing in local community Facebook groups and neighborhood apps.
Host open houses: Well-advertised open houses can bring in more traffic in a short time.
Good marketing ensures your homes for sale in Prattville, AL, get noticed by the right buyers.

5. Be Prepared for Local Buyer Concerns
Prattville buyers often have practical concerns:
Proximity to good schools.
Commute time to Montgomery or Maxwell AFB.
Insurance costs, especially for older homes.
How to overcome it:
Highlight perks: If your home is near highly rated schools or has easy access to I-65, mention it prominently.
Offer a home warranty: For older homes, a home warranty can reassure buyers about potential repairs.
Provide clear disclosures: Be upfront about the roof’s age, HVAC condition, and any past repairs.
Addressing buyer concerns early helps avoid deal-breaking surprises later.
6. Be Flexible With Showings
Buyers today expect to tour homes on their schedule—not yours. Making your house easy to show is critical.
How to overcome it:
Use a lockbox so agents can show the home even when you’re not there.
Keep it clean daily: A tidy home is always ready for last-minute appointments.
Accommodate evening and weekend showings: that’s when most buyers are free.
A little inconvenience now can lead to a faster sale and a better offer.
7. Handle Offers Like a Pro
When an offer comes in, excitement can quickly turn to stress—especially if there are multiple offers or lowball bids.
How to overcome it:
Review all terms. Price is important, but so are closing dates, contingencies, and financing.
Don’t reject too quickly: If an offer is low, counter with a price you’d accept.
Work with your agent: they’ll help you negotiate smartly and keep emotions in check.
Remember, the goal is not just to accept an offer—it’s to get to the closing table successfully.
8. Be Ready for Appraisal and Inspection Hurdles
Many sales fall apart when the appraisal comes in lower than the agreed price or an inspection reveals major issues.
How to overcome it:
Price wisely upfront: Proper pricing reduces the risk of a low appraisal.
Pre-inspect if needed: For older homes, consider a pre-listing inspection to spot problems early.
Be open to repairs: Minor repairs or credits can keep the deal moving.
A proactive approach prevents surprises and protects your sale.
9. Work With a Local Real Estate Professional
Selling your home on your own might sound tempting, but in Prattville’s close-knit market, a good local agent can make all the difference.
Benefits of hiring local expertise:
They know neighborhood-specific pricing and buyer trends.
They can market to the right local and out-of-town buyers.
They handle negotiations, paperwork, and closing details—saving you stress and time.
A trusted agent is your best ally in maximizing your profit and selling smoothly.
10. Keep Emotions in Check
Selling your home is emotional—but letting feelings cloud your judgment can cost you money.
How to overcome it:
Detach: Treat the sale like a business transaction.
Be realistic: Understand your home’s real market value.
Stay patient: Some deals take time, but smart preparation pays off.
A clear head helps you make better decisions at every step.
11. Highlight Prattville’s Unique Lifestyle
Prattville buyers are often drawn by the city’s small-town charm, community spirit, and easy access to nature and amenities.
How to leverage this:
Mention local highlights: Pratt Park, the Robert Trent Jones Golf Trail, and excellent schools.
Promote community events: seasonal festivals, farmers markets, and family-friendly activities.
Share neighborhood vibes: If your area is walkable or close to shops, say so!
Showing buyers how your home fits into the Prattville lifestyle makes it more irresistible.
12. Don’t Let Your Listing Get Stale
If your home has been on the market for months with no offers, it’s time to act.
How to overcome it:
Reassess the price: Is it still competitive?
Refresh your listing: New photos, updated descriptions, and reposting can attract fresh interest.
Offer incentives: Seller-paid closing costs or a home warranty can tip a buyer’s decision.
Small tweaks often get big results.
Final Thoughts
Selling your home in Prattville doesn’t have to be stressful or overwhelming. With the right pricing, smart marketing, local knowledge, and a proactive approach, you can stand out among other homes for sale in Prattville, AL, attract serious buyers, and close the deal on your terms.
If you’re ready to make your next move, consider partnering with an experienced local agent who understands Prattville inside and out. Their expertise, combined with your preparation, will help you get top dollar and a smooth sale—so you can focus on your next chapter.

大家好! The rainy season is well upon us, thus, it's time to hang up my Anta cap, a purchase I'd forgotten to share about, until we're once again into the hot season. I love their sports bras, gym pants, tees, shorts, bags, shoes and, also, caps! Pretty soon, I'll be adding socks to the list because that's their next product that I want to buy and try. Nights are getting chilly here, and I need to keep my feet warm. Anta is the brand I increasingly turn to for apparel and accessories aside from office wear. Their products are value for money - durable, functional, high quality - and come in classic, sleek designs.

I was about to pay for a pack of sushi at the local supermarket cum food hall when I caught a whiff of deliciousness. Browsing through the hot food section, I noticed jiao zi (dumplings). The cashier said this was mo yü jiao - cuttlefish dumplings - so of course I had to try them! She was kind enough to inform me that there's a microwave in a corner if the dumplings weren't hot enough. Each pack contained 10 steamed jiao zi and accompanying sauces. In order to cut down my salt intake, I ate them plain. They were delicious! Bouncy bits of cuttlefish dotted each bite and the dumplings weren't too salty. I finished them in record time!

I eat tofu regularly but not legumes and lentils in their original form unless they're prepared in a way that's palatable; I don't like their starchy texture. After watching videos of Palestinians proudly sharing their meals of a small piece of flat bread, a small quantity of veggies or olives and spices, and sometimes mashed up legumes or lentils, I decided to eat some. Who am I to be so choosy when choice is a luxury to them? Lei cha (ground tea rice), famed for its bright green broth made from ground mint, basil, seeds and tea, is 1 of our healthiest local dishes. I chose the version using chickpeas in place of rice at the stall near the office. Apart from chickpeas, there were anchovies, peanuts, green beans, cabbage, carrot, preserved radish, choy sum, tofu and peanuts. Honestly, it wasn't bad after mixing everything up. Most importantly, I felt more compassion for the Palestinians after eating this.

youtube
There was a downpour during lunch break this week and we craved hot soup. CY, ML, MI, SC and I revisited the coffee shop where the stall selling delicious tom yum goong is housed. I made a beeline for the stall. As I sipped piping hot, spicy and tangy broth chockful of fresh bouncy prawns, tender fish, tomatoes, oyster mushrooms and red onions, my mind wandered back to the Palestinians in Gaza. It's winter in the war-torn strip. Whilst some can cook hot meals with the aid they receive, the amount of food isn't enough. Many of them are at risk of starvation. How many can enjoy a comforting, nourishing and steaming bowl of soup? At that moment, I felt very grateful for what I have. I was perspiring by the time I finished my meal. Even better, I didn't need to wear a sweater or have a thick jacket covering my legs after lunch. Spicy food is a godsend when I'm trying to keep warm.

youtube
youtube
I've bought plant-based luncheon meat so in my next post, I'll share short clips of Palestinians in Gaza cooking chicken luncheon meat. I'll also share about another plant-based product which I purchased. There's too much turmoil in the world right now; if there's something we can do to promote peace, we should. Israel has been a friend to my country for a very long time and to speak out like this against them is painful. But just as one would tell a good friend, 'Bruh, what you did is wrong, man', I have to highlight what they're doing wrong. Let Palestinians live, let them thrive and if they still cause trouble, I won't speak out for them. For now, whilst many of them are dying, I cannot in good faith take Israel's side. 下次见!

The Importance of Financial Planning for a Secure Future
Financial planning is the foundation of a stable and prosperous life. It’s not just about managing money—it’s about setting goals, making informed choices, and building a future where your finances support your dreams. Whether you're a seasoned finance professional or someone just starting to think about money matters, financial planning is for everyone.
1. What Is Financial Planning?
Financial planning is the process of organizing your income, expenses, savings, and investments to meet your life goals. It answers important questions like:
How much should I save every month?
Where should I invest my money?
How can I prepare for emergencies?
Think of it as a roadmap for your money, helping you reach milestones like buying a home, funding your child’s education, or retiring comfortably.
2. Why Is Financial Planning Important?
a) Long-Term Stability
Life is unpredictable. Financial planning helps you prepare for uncertainties and ensures you’re not caught off guard. Here’s how:
Emergency Fund: Set aside at least 6–12 months of living expenses to cover unexpected costs like medical bills or job loss.
Insurance Protection: Health and life insurance protect your family from financial stress during tough times.
Example: A basic term insurance policy costing ₹500/month can provide ₹1 crore coverage for your family.
Debt Management: Proper planning ensures you live within your means, avoiding excessive debt.
b) Wealth Creation
Want to grow your money? Financial planning helps you make smart investment decisions to build wealth over time.
Power of Compounding: Investing early and consistently allows your money to grow exponentially.
Example: ₹5,000/month in a mutual fund with a 12% annual return can grow to ₹1 crore in 20 years.
Diversified Investments: Spread your money across stocks, mutual funds, fixed deposits, and real estate to reduce risk.
c) Achieving Life Goals
Financial planning gives you clarity and control over your money. It helps you:
Prioritize short-term goals like buying a car or starting a business.
Save for long-term goals like retirement or your child’s education.
Avoid impulsive financial decisions that may derail your progress.
3. How to Create a Financial Plan
Financial planning doesn’t have to be complicated. Here’s a step-by-step guide:
Set Clear Goals: Define what you want to achieve (e.g., saving ₹50 lakh for retirement).
Track Your Income and Expenses: Use tools like apps or spreadsheets to understand where your money goes.
Build an Emergency Fund: Save enough to cover 6–12 months of expenses.
Invest Wisely: Choose investments based on your goals and risk tolerance. For example:
Low Risk: Fixed deposits, PPF.
Moderate Risk: Mutual funds, bonds.
High Risk: Stocks, real estate.
Review Regularly: Life changes—so should your financial plan. Revisit it every year to stay on track.
4. Tips for Financial Success
Start Early: The earlier you begin saving and investing, the more time your money has to grow.
Avoid Common Mistakes: Don’t rely on loans for non-essential expenses, and steer clear of high-risk investments without research.
Seek Professional Help: If you're unsure, consult a financial advisor to create a personalized plan.
5. The Benefits of Financial Planning
Peace of Mind: Knowing your finances are in order reduces stress.
Freedom to Pursue Dreams: With proper planning, you can focus on what matters most—whether it’s starting a business, traveling, or simply enjoying life.
Legacy Building: A good financial plan helps you leave behind a secure future for your loved ones.
Conclusion
Financial planning is not just for the wealthy—it’s for everyone who wants a better future. Whether you’re saving for a dream or preparing for the unexpected, a solid financial plan can make all the difference. Start small, stay consistent, and watch your finances grow stronger day by day. The best time to start is now!

TV Show Alphabet Challenge
Doing a watch/rewatch of a bunch of shows lately and going in alphabetical order. Here’s what I’ve gotten through so far and my rating out of 10 (10 being the best thing ever).
#: 30 Rock season 1: first time I’d ever seen 30 Rock and I knew it was popular so I should have realized how funny it would be, but it really was SO FUNNY. Even so I don’t feel compelled to watch season 2 at this point. I could be convinced though. Rating: 7.5
A: Abbott Elementary season 1: first time watching, super funny and cute. Since it’s somewhat new it felt more modern that 30 Rock and as a result I liked it a bit more. I will watch season 2 when I loop back around. Rating: 8
B: Bridgerton season 3: I had seen the first 2 seasons and loved them. This one was disappointing and I hate that Netflix breaks up seasons now instead of releasing all at once and the year to two years between seasons is also annoying and loses my interest. Rating: 6
C: Curb Your Enthusiasm season 1: OMG I was not prepared for how funny this was. It was also WAY too real and a little inappropriate at times but not necessarily in a bad way (even though it’s like 20 years old). Again, not sure I’d watch season 2 but I think I’m more likely to watch season 2 of curb than 30 rock. Rating: 8
D: Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders (Netflix): I used to love DCC Making the Team on CMT back in the day. This had a much different feel to it but I loved it just as much. I hope they have a second season on Netflix. Would watch again. Rating: 9
E: I couldn’t find any shows that interested me that started with E! But I added The English Teacher to my list once the first season is over. It looks good. Let me know if you have other recs!
F: Friday Night Lights season 1 (rewatch): I had seen this before but I’m so glad I revisited. One of the best shows of all time, it still holds up. I’m obsessed with Coach and Tami Taylor. I’m mad this show didn’t win alllll the awards. Will happily be watching season 2 when I get back around to this letter! Rating: 10
G: A Good Girls Guide to Murder: This show was short (only 6 episodes) I did not read the book…and I may have suffered for it because I couldn’t figure out the vibes. Is it YA? Horror? Comedy? Quirky? The main character made so many stupid decisions it was annoying and I didn’t get really interested until episode 5. Is there a second season? More murder solving? I don’t think I would watch. Rating: 4
H: let me know your recommendations! I was going to rewatch season 1 of How I Met Your Mother but I just don’t know if I’m ready to dive back into that world again.
Up next: It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia season 1
Send me recommendations if you have them for other shows in the alphabet!

ATTENTION SPAN IN CLASSROOMS
As a teacher, I need 5 mins to prep class followed by a 5 min activity to test previous knowledge. Then, I have a 20-minute actual teaching, followed by a quiz/ group activity to recap and final HW instructions.
So, essentially, the 12 min attention span can be stretched to 20 mins by interactive and interesting methods of teaching.
A 30 mins class is neither here nor there, and several classes in toto would only confuse children and make them more restless
(Mrs. Sangeetha Thyagarajan)
🎈🎈
Exegesis:
Now Let’s get into the methodology Ms Sangeetha madam outlined and explore how it can be adapted for different grade levels and subjects.
I’ll break it down based on the context you provided:
1. Preparation (5 minutes):
As a teacher, you allocate 5 minutes to prepare for the class. During this time, you organize your materials, review the lesson plan, and mentally prepare for the teaching session.
2. Previous Knowledge Assessment (5 minutes):
The next 5 minutes are dedicated to assessing students’ prior knowledge. This can be done through a quick quiz, discussion, or interactive activity related to the topic you’re about to teach. It helps activate their existing understanding and sets the stage for the upcoming lesson.
3. Actual Teaching (20 minutes):
The core teaching segment lasts 20 minutes. Here, you present new content, explain concepts, and engage students actively.
To make it effective and engaging:
¹VISUAL AIDS: Use visual aids like slides, diagrams, or videos to enhance understanding.
²INTERACTIVE ELEMENTS: Incorporate discussions, group work, or hands-on activities.
³REAL-LIFE EXAMPLES: Relate the material to real-world scenarios.
⁴QUESTIONING TECHNIQUES: Ask open-ended questions to encourage critical thinking.
⁵VARIETY: Vary your teaching methods to cater to different learning styles.
⁶RECAP AND QUIZ/GROUP ACTIVITY (5 minutes):
In the last 5 minutes, recap the key points covered during the teaching segment. Reinforce understanding by revisiting important concepts. Then, conduct a brief quiz or group activity to reinforce learning. This could be a quick brainstorming session, a problem-solving task, or a collaborative discussion.
⁷FINAL HOMEWORK INSTRUCTIONS:
Conclude the class by providing clear instructions for homework. Specify what students need to do, any resources they should refer to, and the deadline.
Now, let’s adapt this methodology for different grade levels:
🍁ELEMENTARY SCHOOL (Grades 1-5):
• Simplify language and use relatable examples.
• Incorporate games, storytelling, and visual aids.
• Keep activities short and engaging.
🍁MIDDLE SCHOOL (Grades 6-8):
• Build on prior knowledge.
• Encourage critical thinking and discussions.
• Use multimedia resources.
• Assign group projects or debates.
🍁HIGH SCHOOL (Grades 9-12):
• Dive deeper into concepts.
• Encourage independent research.
• Incorporate case studies and real-world applications.
• Discuss current events related to the subject.
Regarding the practice of finishing lessons before December and focusing on revisions and model exams from January onward, it has both pros and cons:
▪️Pros:
• Early completion allows more time for revision and exam preparation.
• Reduced stress during the exam season.
• Opportunity for in-depth understanding.
▪️Cons:
• Students may forget earlier concepts by the time exams arrive.
• Continuous revision might lead to monotony.
• Balancing revision with new learning is essential.
Ultimately, the effectiveness of this practice depends on the specific context, student needs, and the subject being taught. Flexibility and adaptability are key. As long as students are engaged, learning, and retaining knowledge, the approach can be considered successful.

hi! hope this reply finds you.. eventually. I accidentally deleted your ask when I actually wanted to delete another one (sorry) but I was meaning to reply to a few people in a single post anyway and took provisional screenshots! so this was a lucky coincidence!
thank you for reading Children of the Red Dust! my pride and joy :D but since you know me from word of honor I.. kind of guess why you would be confused by my previous post about my “fandoms of interest”, as u say.
so, originally (I believe it was around either 2017 or 2018, cannot guarantee on that I’m afraid) this was a side-blog spurred from my need to compartmentalize and gush about my experience of re-reading a few of my favorite fics from the hobbit fandom. back then, in fact, I was in a slump and needed to pick myself up. so I decided to revisit fandoms who had brought me joy in the past, one of which was the bagginshield ship. hence a “nostalgia” blog!
coincidentally, one of the authors of a particular fic among those would have later on (in 2020) influenced my decision to try reading mdzs since they were considering writing a fic about it. they were (and still are!) one of my favorite fic authors, so I trusted them completely on that and that’s how I stepped into the world of danmei!
first it was the untamed, then winter begonia and finally word of honor, through which you have come to meet me :) isn’t that magical?
now. in regards of your second question.. thank you for letting me ramble about my new shiny interests! :D
so here’s a handy list:
1. hotd & r//haenicent :
oh, where do I start! that’s a tough one bc I’m mostly vibing in here?? like. don’t get me wrong, I love the show as it is and I do enjoy the lore behind it a great deal. I’m mostly absorbing the content and let it either shock me or impress me depending on what’s on screen. I do see the flaws but I honestly don’t care about them. I’m just vibing, as I said. but I do like to see people posting meta about the reasoning behind each character! and I love reading about the actors’ ideas behind their back stories and motivations!
my ship of choice is mostly based on the fact that I do like me some toxic-ladies-twice-divorced energy in the room and I should add that I haven’t probably been able to watch killing eve yet just so I could prepare my tastebuds with the hotd female leads first. I especially love the modern!au edits I’m seeing floating around and for now that’s enough to keep me from starving until the new season arrives.
2. the devil judge :
honestly, my focus would be gone on all planes of existence wasn’t it for @/amethystina’s fic (I don’t want to bother her with me tagging her on this, but do trust me and go read it bc it’s gonna change your life!) Who Holds The Devil. seriously, my anxiety has been so bad recently but there she glows, the most massive brain in the universe, bringing us frequent updates despite her busy schedule (and, apparently?? she wrote an entire 100k words fic in the strangers from hell fandom on a whim?? so if that’s your vibe you can go feast on that baby and have a fucking party while you’re at it. thank me later)
no but for real. it’s almost camp. almost. the drama, I mean. all it needs is a feathered boa and it checks out. outlandish villains that do be sounding a little too similar to IRL egotistical capitalist pigs, dangerous pretty ladies, rich bitches (Kang YoHan included), mysteries™️, boytoys and sassy teenagers. there are a few complains I have, ngl, but the vibes are immaculate imo. I would also offer, in a similar vein, kdramas like little women (a recent favorite of mine!), beyond evil (a classic at this point) and, on a bigger scale, the glory (which I have yet to watch, contrary to the first two).
3. helluva boss :
this one caught me off guard, ngl. I used to see it trending on tumblr often but thought it was just the most recent western brand of animation that people get hooked on for the witty dialogue and vaguely philosophical themes being explored (as u can see idk anything about these things, I thought it was similar to adventure time or smth, the fool that I was!). what I got instead was great animation and complex three-dimensional characters overall. now I’ve rewatched the entirety of the available episodes perhaps ten times. honestly, my anxiety really needed that.
as with hotd, I’m just vibing.. but I’m very engaged. I felt almost euphoric at the thought that animators and artists could just.. have fun with it? I’m sure there’s an enormous amount of work involved in the production of every single episode, so I’m just leaning back and enjoy the show. bad gays are hella entertaining and I’m here for it. coincidentally, around the same time I started actively watching the series I found out about a new queer short film that is being developed called the lovers! it’s gonna be a long wait but it’s gonna be worth it :D
4. don’t hug me I’m scared :
this was a fun one. when it first came out (idr when tho) I remember being very uncomfortable with the material. it reminded me of Flat Eric, a yellow puppet used in dance music videos of some artist or smth: it used to terrify me as a child and dhmis evoked the same reaction out of me in the beginning. but then I watched some video essay on the matter and I grew more accustomed to the feel of it and became interested in the though process behind it instead. first video I watched on the topic was about an interpretation of the show through an autistic perspective and the other was a.. I believe a 3 or 4 hours video making an overview on the whole lore behind it.
I’m not very interested in “finding out what does this all mean” or anything of the sort. I’m just here for the cosplays xD no but really, people are so inventive! and they make merchandise and dolls and drawings and full on costumes all on their own! that’s creative as fuck! and it’s unsettling and evocative at the same time. I’m baffled by everyone’s talents and I’m merely wishing to be as good as them ahah.
5. dune & the hunger games :
not sure how this happened. I have read the latter series but not the first, I don’t have time for that. but I can digest a movie or two and the visuals are very interesting to me! also I am a bene gesserit simp and I hate them and their ways in equal measure. idk why but that’s how it is. similarly, I want to see how the cast for the prequel of hunger games does! I’ve heard the lovely viola davis is in it and I’m thrilled to see her being unhinged :D
but mostly, I re-evaluated the entire hunger game trilogy by reading meta posts and fics exploring the story from different perspective in the past and this new movie reignited the interest for the time being, so I’m excited to give it a try! dune, on the other hand, is new for me and it’s helping me bond with my dad on our shared love for sci-fi. what’s not to love??
6. succession :
I’m honestly not sure about this one. I plan to look more into it but idk when I will have the time ahah. if nothing it will entertain me with rich people drama which is always obnoxiously fun to tap into when capitalism fucks me over one way or another. we will see!
thank you for letting me talk into the void xD hope you have a great day yourself!

Winx Club: Season 1 Rewrite (Snippet)
So as I've said before, I'm working on a rewrite of the Winx Club series and as I'm writing, I thought it'd be fun to share an extract of chapter 1:
“I can’t believe we’re letting him go back to that school.”
Standing beside her, on the threshold of Eraklyon’s royal palace, King Erendor sighed as his wife repeated the same accusation she had been firing at him for weeks. “He has many enemies, Samara, and will grow up to have even more. Sending him to Red Fountain is the best thing we can do to prepare him.”
Samara didn’t bother addressing her husband, her eyes fixed on the ship that was currently being prepared for takeoff in the direction of Magix’s capital city. Palace servants were loading suitcases and bags into the cargo compartment of the ship, while the pilot and guards were discussing the route most likely to let them go undetected. “His enemies are exactly the reason we should keep him here,” She said. “Sky is the future King of Eraklyon, he should be learning how to rule a kingdom, not how to swing a sword or shoot an arrow.”
“You think our army will take commands from a king who hasn’t known a day of battle?” As the Magic Dimension’s Realm of the Warrior, Eraklyon was well known for its strong military force. Other planets and kingdoms would trade their own products and services for Eraklyan knights to fight their battles. So for Sky to command such a strong and proud army and its generals, it was vital he earned their respect as a swordsman first. “Those men aren’t the type to listen to spoiled brats.”
“Then have master Lowine teach him.”
“He has been,” Erendor said. “But having one swordmaster train you is not nearly the same as getting Red Fountain’s level of military education. Besides, royals and lords all over the magic dimension are sending their sons to Red Fountain, not to mention the high-born girls at Alfea. Sky should get to know them; form alliances and gather information for when he needs it.”
“And just how is he supposed to do that when everybody takes him for that Allard boy?” Samara rebutted, her attention now having shifted to the brunette standing beside her son. “Those other kids don’t even know who ‘Sky’ really is.”
“That’s a temporary safety measurement. Once Yoshinoiya’s threats settle down we will rectify that situation.” Erenor said, his eyes too having been redirected to the young squire. “Besides, it’s not a bad thing for Sky to be friends with someone from the Southern Isles.”
“I don’t trust that boy. He’s corrupting Sky’s brain with that southern liberalism. You know his father, he’s-”
“The south’s strongest military leader, one we should keep on our side.” Erendor interjected. “And if we do that by sending Brandon to Red Fountain with Sky, then he is letting us off easy,” he said. “Christian is many things, but he’s not a traitor.”
“Well let’s hope the same thing can be said about his children then. His oldest just recently got betrothed to Lord Khai’s daughter. Quite the match I’ve heard.” Samara said, clearly unimpressed by the marriage between the two southern families. “Speaking of engagements, I was just informed that Lady Disapro will be joining us for dinner tonight?”
Erendor wasn’t unaware of the sneer laced with the queen’s polished vocabulary. “Sky is leaving a day sooner than planned, but that doesn’t mean we should deny Diaspro a meal with her future in-laws.” He said. “Her parents will not be joining us, however, but the girl is very well informed of House Grandare’s politics.”
“Oh I have no doubts about the girl’s devotion to her father’s lordship. I simply wonder whether we have found the best suitor Sky could be taking to marriage.” Samara said, revisiting the topic of her son’s potential fiancée once more. “Doesn’t Princess Stella of Solaria go to Alfea? I thought Sky was quite fond of her?”
“He is, but she’s Solaria’s crowned princess, their only one at that, she’d never leave Solaria for another kingdom.” Erendor shook his head. “Besides, Radius denies anybody’s request for his daughter's hand. His pending divorce from Luna has him all sentimental about the princess’s future marriage, which he will not be arranging under any circumstances.”
Samara scoffed. “I’ve always told him that he’s way too lenient with that girl.” she said, making a mental note to have her staff reach out to the King of Solaria. “I will be attending dinner tonight, but not before reevaluating our options. I do think that an international coupling is within our best interest.”
“Whatever you wish, darling.” The sarcasm was nearly dripping off his words. “But we will want to think about the consequences of cutting off this agreement at this stage, Lord Grandare won’t take kindly to a disruption of his plans to get his daughter married to Sky.”
“His plans to get his daughter on the throne, you mean.” Samara rolled her eyes. Lord Grandare was a good ally of the royal family, but the queen wasn’t unaware of his motives to get his daughter married off to the prince as soon as possible. Diaspro was a nice girl, pretty too, so Sky shouldn’t have too much to complain about, but Samara wasn’t too keen on the idea of the Grandares taking over the palace at her expense. “I will see what we can do about him, should this marriage be the best option available.”
Erendor stayed silent for a moment, watching his son get ready to board and giving him a silent nod when the prince looked up at him expectantly. In the corner of his eye, he could see his wife offering her son a static wave. “Seems like they’ll be taking off soon.” He said, readjusting his cape and making his way down the steps of the palace.
“I’ll arrange travel plans to Solaria and Lynphea for the next week. I don’t think a suitor for princess Krystal has been named yet.” Turning on one heel, Samara signalled for her handmaiden to fetch her phone. “I will have Gaston prepare duck for tonight’s dinner, don’t you think? Diaspro’s from the North, so I think she could appreciate-”
“Samara.”
Inhaling sharply at the interruption, Samara slowly turned her head to look at her husband. “Yes?”
Erendor sighed as he let his eyes slide back and forth between his wife and his son. “They’re about to leave for an entire school year.” He tried to hint. However, Samara merely raised an eyebrow at him, silently asking him for further elaboration. “Don’t you think we should say goodbye?
A moment of silence fell between the two of them as Samara followed his gaze. “I have more pressing matters to attend to than sentiment,” She then stated, her eyes momentarily locking with those of her son, before stoically averting them. “Like preparing to tell Diaspro she won’t be seeing her fiancé for a year.”
That's it! Please let me know what you think!
