I know y'all have seen the fall hot drink recipe post. that I can't find right now. but of course I've had my own for years, here is how I make what is essentially very lazy wassail when I'm cold and want hot cider:

Put a mug's worth of apple cider in a pot and add some orange slices (I always wash the orange before cutting it, but leave the peel on, you you want them oils).

Add spices to your taste, I have mulling spice bags that I use but if I didn't I would use some combo of the following, and whole spices are better for this if you have them: cinnamon stick, clove, allspice, ginger (fresh peeled ginger preferred), anise, nutmeg.

Add a splash of cranberry juice. Pomegranate juice also works. If you don't have juice on hand you can also use a teabag of a similar flavor palette. I used pomegranate raspberry recently and it was fantastic. Remember to cut any strings off of teabags going on the stove.

Optional to add: lemon slice(s), apple slices. You can sub juice for the orange and/or lemon if you like or if it's easier.

Heat the pot over the stove to drinking temperature then pour it into a mug, filtering the add-ins out.

If the drink doesn't fill my mug when it's done, usually because I forgot and it boiled and it is also now too hot, I add cold cider on top, which also helps to bring it to the right temperature.

I am a fruit blend bitch so I've never messed around with caramel, what you are witnessing is me adapting my smoothie techniques into hot drink technique. enjoy.

This isn’t a one-to-one recreation of that dialogue but it’s based on that as a framework/premise

Batman dropped down into the room behind a pair of figures—a teenage boy and a slumped adult—letting his landing create an audible thump to alert them of his presence.

If the teen noticed, he didn’t react. Even as Bruce approached, he continued to stare impassively at the wheezing figure on the ground, an old wooden bat with flaking green paint on its side loosely held in his right hand. Bruce had already suspected who the figure would be since he arrived, but seeing the Joker so broken was still bizarre. No laughing, no schemes. He didn’t even seem to be attempting to escape his binds, just… lying there, almost as if pinned in place.

Bruce paused a step behind the teen. “I don’t know what the Joker did to you, but this isn’t the right way to go about this.”

The teen scoffed, and Bruce felt a painful lurch in his chest as he was reminded oh so strongly of his son Jason. “And what, let him go kill more people?”

“I know he deserves to face justice, but not like this. Everyone deserves a right to fair trial. No one person should be judge, jury, and executioner.”

The teen turned to look at him with glowing green eyes, and Batman felt himself freeze. He had faced gods before, yet even using that as a comparison felt like an understatement. The boy’s eyes belonged to someone far older than his teenage form implied, and they radiated power. Inevitability.

When the teen—no, the entity—spoke again, his words carried an unearthly echo. “Perhaps, but I’m not acting for just myself.” He paused, glanced down at the Joker, then asked almost conversationally, “Do you know how many people he’s killed?”

Another pause, but before Bruce could even try to answer, the entity continued, “Eight hundred and fifty-six. He’s ended the lives of eight hundred and fifty-six human souls. I can tell you about every single one, if you want. About who they were, what their dreams were before he killed them. About the pain they felt at his hands.”

He punctuated the word ‘pain’ by raising up the wooden bat in his hands and ramming its end down onto the Joker’s arm. He let out a wheeze, muffled by the gag in his mouth.

“I have a duty to my people. I am the King of the In-Between and of all the souls that pass through it—even ones whose stays were as brief as his. I am the rightful arbiter of his fate. And with that power, I sentence him to death.”

He raised the bat again, adjusting his grip so he’d hit with the side rather than the end this time, then paused and let out a chuckle. “Of course, just because it’s based on some justice doesn’t mean I can’t have a bit of fun with it too.” He swung the bat down, slamming it into the Joker’s side, then hooked it under the clown’s torso and flicked him up through the air to slam into the wall. “We all really hate this guy.”

With the entity’s attention fully turned away from him as he sauntered towards the Joker’s slumped figure, Bruce could finally unfreeze himself.

Even if the Ghost King did have the right to pass judgement on Joker, Bruce still couldn’t let torture go on like this. He wouldn’t win a direct fight, but he could hopefully at least grab the Joker and bring him over to the police. Carefully, he reached for some of the smoke bombs and batarangs on his belt and readied his grapple. He’d have to do this very, very fast.

But before he could move, another figure entered the scene. Red Hood, emerging from the shadows on the far side of the room, an unexpected bit of a pep to his step.

“Nice to see someone else who gets that that bastard needs to die. But if I may make a suggestion, how ‘bout you use a crowbar instead of that old bat? It’d be a bit more… fitting.”

I'm curious, what made you fall out of love with Ghoap?

multiple reasons that all stacked up in the end, the short answer is burntout

Drew this ship for 2 years+, while I adore and love their dynamic, it got tiring at some point since most of the time I drew ghoap for the sake of engagement back then

When mw3 happened, a lot of things happened on codtwt (as per usual) that sort of rubbed me the wrong way. There were many artists (some of which are friends are people I looked up too) that started dragging other artist for drawing other ships, like ghost x [character] or soap x [character]. There's just a sudden influx and rise of believing ghoap is the only acceptable or superior ship in general from COD. I understand at the moment we were all grieving for Soap and was angry with the devs and with everything, but this really put into spotlight on a few people that I was close with and I really didn't want to continue this any more

Continuing on that ghoap only superiority complex, there were also just threads and posts that openly talks about topics that I really wasn't comfortable with. You'll see posts like "you knowwww...Im so in awe when people can ship ghost/soap with others, like it is not it for me, honestly it's also kind of annoying to see it on my tl? I dont understand how people can do that when they're clearly made for each other. But you do you though <3". Like. Be so fr. There were so many people who agreed and that really just sours the mood for me, as someone who's a multishipper

You might be thinking, it's the fandom, not the characters, which yeah you're right but when you're surrounded by a community who talks about ghoap like that, it just no longer feel nice

I received a lot of harassment and threats for doing a lot of ghoap angst/mcd arts, while these really didn't affect me cuz idgaf (and was more busy trying to survive irl lmao), I think it could have contributed to the issue. Not exactly nice to doodle and know you'll get drag in the comments when you share it. The entitlement of ghoap fans can get pretty far and ridiculous

Got a few nitpicking comments on the way I draw Soap that yes, did greatly affected me. Didn't want to draw him since because of it (examples: you draw him too young, isn't Soap's mohawk more like a flat shorter look? why did you alter his design so much, they would not do this or that etc) I was still new with being an artist online, and at the time was struggling irl too so I was quite sensitive to all these

My friend was also falling out of the ship, she was my closest friend and we do a lot of brainstorming, discussion and doodling together, so when that fell off naturally my interest dropped too

I don't hate ghoap, I still love this ship, but I just can't enjoy it the way I used to anymore

1) the character everyone gets wrong

Apollo.

I'm not going to pretend I have a different answer for this - just Apollo. I can perhaps name three pieces of media where Apollo is written well - not compellingly, but I mean 'well' in terms of adaptation of the greek god figure they are purporting to have gained inspiration from. If he's not written terribly, then he's erased or minimised from the narrative to the point of erasure and it can be incredibly difficult to even find educational projects that remember to make mention of Apollo in a manner that isn't mocking or chastising. (I am looking directly at you Iliad/Odyssey content. I am staring at you with every single one of my eyes.)

The sad truth is that Apollo is a hard god to adapt. And speaking from the experience of someone who's spent a not inconsiderable portion of my life studying, reading about, chasing after and writing about Apollo myself, I mean it with all my heart when I say that I understand that he is an incredibly difficult figure to adapt and write. In general the gods are hard to adapt but there's a reason people usually fall back on the accepted Thing they can all be defined by. Zeus is king, Hera is queen, Ares fights, Artemis hunts, Hermes travels swiftly.

Apollo then presents a really difficult dilemma for people looking to adapt him - what is his Thing? What is his single unifying aspect that allows him to perform all of his other roles? Apollo doesn't have one. He's a musician and a prophet and an archer in equal measure. He's a healer and a slaughterer, a son who is also a father. He's pretty like a woman but he is one of the ideals of masculine beauty, as gentle as he is capable of horrifying acts of wrath.

To adapt Apollo in any meaningful way is to acknowledge the plurality of the ancient world. It is to discard the idea of neat little boxes with cute, concise labels that perfectly describe one's ideas of history and to confront that culture is a shifting, chaotic thing and that the modern, trope based process for writing and cataloguing characters is completely arbitrary and ill-suited for weaving stories of figures older than even the concept of tropes.

This is the reason, I think, that so many writers end up defaulting to the figure of Apollo the lover. And like, truthfully speaking, ON PAPER, the lover is a very good compromise for him. The lover is almost always young and intersects neatly with the bard as music is often a medium of love, it also connects with archery, beauty and gentleness. Similarly, the lover can also be negative - a poisoned beauty whose love stems from selfishness and therefore who cannot truly love without hurting. As far as compromises go - it's not bad.

But it ignores so many other facets and elements that make Apollo Apollo - his intelligence and the fear he inspires, his identity as a brother, father and son, his martial and medical prowess, the trust that comes with the love people have for him, the weight of the responsibilities he carries.

I totally get that it's unreasonable for me to expect people to put this much effort into adapting him - especially since, quite frankly, a lot of people are quite set on him being eternally locked in that position as A Lover - but I do wish people would care. There is a reason Apollo is considered the most Greek of the gods. I wish more people cared to understand why.

10) worst part of fanon

Massively unpopular opinion, but I think the worst part of fanon is the aggressive villainisation of Zephyrus.

Do I think Zephyrus wasn't insane for braining Hyacinthus? No! Definitely hold him accountable for that, my god beat his ass. But do I think that it's a little ridiculous that people treat him like he's an irredeemable asshole who would've been an abusive horrible lover to Hyacinthus and who's a creep and a general menace? YES OH MY GOD

Zephyrus has shit he does outside of Hyacinthus' story - Zephyrus was actually considered the gentlest wind and more importantly, the spring wind. It is Zephyrus who accompanies Persephone as she makes her journey from the edge of the Underworld back to her mother's home, and it was Zephyrus who protected and gently carried Psyche to and from Eros' manor. Zephyrus and Apollo are literally friends!! They BOTH have the same taste in men (clearly) and Zephyrus, like Apollo, is a noted and recorded appreciator of young, beautiful men and usually pays them a bit of extra wind across their cheeks to bring out the colour.

Y'all act like he's a supervillain who planned Hyacinthus' death in a basement with creepy music playing like goddamn, he was a sore loser, he fucked up, Apollo beat his ass and Hyacinthus is revived in the end. Leave him alone, my god.

21) Part of canon you think is overhyped

The Titanomachy.

Not because I think the Titanomachy is uninteresting - on the contrary, I think it is an AGGRESSIVELY interesting set of events - but because I just kind of think so many other things are more interesting.

I also don't think things need to have their own versions of the Titanomachy so much. Like, it's fine I promise, just tell me your story I do not need to be told how the Olympians won the war in the most non-specific way ever over and over again.

23) ship you've unwillingly come around to

Like I alluded to above, I actually do have quite a few of these so we'll do one I went from absolutely hating the idea of to actively shipping so hard I forgot how much I initially disliked it.

Orpheus/Heracles.

HEAR ME OUT RIGHT -- I was like, physically repulsed by the idea initially because what the fuck even, but it was something that kept coming up over and over as I was doing research for my writing and eventually, I ended up caving, writing the two of them interacting with each other during their Argo days and that was it.

But honestly? I can't even be mad cause?? It kind of fucks??? Heracles himself really enjoys music but never had the delicacy it required (he literally murdered his lyre instructor because he was disciplining him) and Heracles loses Hylas on the Argo and grieves him bitterly. Orpheus loved his Eurydice but she died not long after they were married after being bitten by a snake. Both of them make journeys to the Underworld - Heracles to retrieve Cerberus and free Prometheus, Orpheus to retrieve Eurydice - and both of them return from the Underworld to great misfortune. Orpheus swears off women and dies being torn apart limb from limb by the Maenads, Heracles tries to marry and is poisoned horribly, tearing off parts of his own skin and eventually throwing himself onto his funeral pyre to rid himself of the pain.

I will admit I'm a little salty that people, in an effort to prove that there is no good dialogue in Veilguard at all, keep comparing mission exposition to the high point narrative set pieces of prior games. I agree that some of the writing related to plot mechanics and mission exposition in Veilguard is a little too utilitarian, but that doesn't mean none of the dialogue is good or that prior games didn't also sometimes have this issue here and there.

I also generally dislike when people put the bar for good writing — and all writing too, not even just dialogue writing, ALL writing — at mic-drop sentences that still sound good completely divorced from context, because that really just reduces "good writing" down to like fake-deep philosophizing or witty quips exclusively. sometimes, a really good bit of dialogue sounds like a completely normal sentence out of context.

Jojo Merch Interest Check!

Gonna be flooding this with ideas because!! I’ve had so many ideas in my head and wanted to see if there was any interest in them. One of my fave things besides Jojo is CDs, and what better way to show my love for it than, boom-! Jojo inspired album keychains!

This would basically be an epoxy keychain, 3.15 inches (8 cm) length wise and include a front and a back designed after an album based on the namesakes or references for the Jojo character. Shown above, I did a Lucy Steel mockup based on Sgt. Peppers Lonely Hearts Club Band album and designed with a back that would possibly list the other songs and be designed to look like a cd case.

There will be no moving parts, no extra pieces, just a plain and simple square with a character and album design with the front being made with epoxy!

Some concepts I sketched up:

Gyro with the Ballbreaker album cover (debating on going green or going blue)

FV with the Dirts Deeds Done Dirt Cheap cover (that would prolly feature different FVs we see including an older one)

Johnny with “The Very Best of Fleetwood Mac” cover that would resemble a steel ball and include the various Johnny’s we see in the story (including young Johnny, teen Johnny, potentially JJL Johnny too :)!)

If you’re interested, please vote in the poll below so I can consider if I want to spend time making these! And while I did show off only Part 7, I can potentially do other parts if it’s requested or they do well. This is a bit of a larger undertaking compared to what I consider my usual stuff but if it’s positively received I’m willing to put in the effort to make em!

PET Pokémon: Pearl

Meowstic (M), Meowstic (F), Midnight Lycanroc, Naganadel, Lurantis, Beeheyem, Alolan Marowak, Mudsdale

“Originating from a little-known region south of Kanto, here we have Pearlescent Moon! Pearl became a competitive battler as a teenager, quickly rising up the ranks until becoming a champion! She and her partner Rockruff were favorites among fans up until their championship tournament- recordings were corrupted so no one can be certain what really happened, but it must have been serious to have pushed her partner to evolution!” ~Champion Time News

Starting off with Pearl, our main character! She’s the one I have the most planned for, both in terms of backstory and upcoming plot. Pearl takes the form of a protagonist character for a fake Australia-inspired region. Her journey was followed by strange events and oddities, breaks in reality. She became friends with the members of a private internet forum (Evo) during her time in the gym circuit as they compared her current experiences with historic records and discussed battle strategies, and began adventuring alongside her rival Karn when the Ultra Wormhole activity got too risky (becoming partners with him years later).

Pearl’s initial adventure ended when an Ultra Wormhole opened during her championship tournament, dragging the competitors into another dimension. She managed to save them all… barely. The details of the event aren’t publicly known, and Pearl isn’t one to talk about it unless she has to. All anyone uninvolved knows is that it resulted in her Rockruff evolving and awarded her the title of Champion. She’s never been quite the same since this event, dubbed the Championship Crisis, but years of separation and therapy have dulled some of the pain.

In modern days Pearl is still an active Champion-level trainer, and works for the International Police as an Ultraspace specialist. She spends most of her time as a community leader around the region (as is expected of Champions), occasionally leaving to handle reports of potential Ultraspace activity around the world. 

She’s got the largest team by far, and I’ve borrowed from Alola’s pokedex pretty heavily when making it. 

Her two Meowstic are, of course, Nugget and Olive. They were originally her family’s Pokemon, but she took them in after the Championship Crisis. They don’t take the field as battlers, instead providing support with their psychic abilities (and as a form of emotional support to Pearl). Their inclusion does push her team up to eight Pokemon, but in my mind the six Pokemon team limit is actually just a League rule for official battles and a rule of thumb in terms of how many Pokemon a competitive battler can actually take care of at a time.

Her midnight-form Lycanroc is another obvious pick, Tilly! She caught a Rockruff as a starter pokemon and it took on a role similar to Ash’s Pikachu, being immensely overpowered for an unevolved pokemon… up until the Championship Crisis. Pearl also caught her Naganadel as a Poipole during the same event. Most people are unsettled by the Ultra Beast, so it mostly helps out with Pearl’s International Police duties rather than the Champion ones.

And while that does it for all of her directly plot-relevant pokemon, we’ve still got most of a team to go through! Lurantis is sorta based on Pearl’s Empires theme–their arms would make a good scythe for harvesting crops, wouldn’t they? Along the same line, Beeheyem is based on Pearl’s Hermitcraft season 9 theme. I haven’t had the time to watch much of that season, but I’m hoping that it works well with her astral association if it doesn’t actually relate to s9. I’d also love to include a pokemon that references being the Queen of Decked Out 2, but I’m not entirely sure what would make sense for that.

Alolan Marowak was a delightfully easy choice; I’d been thinking that it seemed like a good pick, but couldn’t figure out a reason why… up until Pearl mentioned in a somewhat recent stream that Marowak is her favorite pokemon. Immensely fortuitous! Honestly Kantonian Marowak probably makes more sense than the Alolan form, but for whatever reason I’ve been pretty set on the idea of Pearl having a Mudsdale and I’d like for her to retain some level of type diversity.
