I played Origins for the first time in middle school on the family computer in the computer room which was at the front of the house we lived in at the time. One of many houses and states and schools and friends. It was a rotating cycle of change that I wouldn't really begin to figure out how it might have affected me until... Now, ish.

This game became such a part of me. I think it was partially it's fault, and I also think it's because of every other part of my life that had and was yet to happen

I was always wrenched from my situation to another because of things, ultimately, out of my control. They were almost close enough that little me could feel like they were my fault. Sometimes it was such a relief to have an excuse and such a good reason, an inevitable reason, for running away.

I grew up and still feel on the outs in a way that very few people around me can ever seem to be on the same page with. Chronic health things, neurodivergence, queerness, all of it. Some people do. Some people get it, and you don't get to choose who gets it. And you don't get to choose who doesn't but stands by you the whole way anyway.... And it got me thinking

I always needed to justify existing... As me. Little things, social interactions, tests, ordering a sandwich in a restaurant, moving across the country. Those were all my own little wars. I made sure. I always won.

In peace, vigilance

I still can't shake the idea that if things are going well, the other shoe is about to drop. Everything is about to get bad and get so bad. It's always something damn near earth shattering, and it's always something that makes me feel the texture of the hand I was dealt.

In death, sacrifice

I never thought I'd make it this far. Each milestone is confusing and strange and good. But it is weird. Each year I'm alive feels like borrowed time towards the inevitable. Every bad thing that's ever happened, I do my best to make it something that can help other people. I've succeed. Not earth shatteringly and not every time. But, I've managed to win that too. If one person can be better or have a chance because of the ways I suffer, it can be worth it. It has to be worth it

In Origins, you're dead from the beginning. You start the game at the turning point that brings you past the point of no return. You can never go back. You can never change it. You can only go forward, and you can only go forward knowing you're already dead, just waiting.

And it's worth doing. It's all worth doing. You stop the blight. It has to be worth doing. It's not that it has to be worth living for. By whatever gods might exist, it has to be worth already having died for.

"I'm bored" is... technically true. In a sense. Personally, I think it's a very simple and vague allusion to the real problem. That thin sheet of snow coating a massive, freezing cold iceberg. Just barely obscuring it from proper view.

imo it's been a bit disappointing seeing people take to extremes with Burning Spice's character. I've seen people either woobify him, downplay or excuse his actions by saying "he's not evil! He's hurting! He's depressed! He doesn't hate people, he's lashing out because he can't internalize his pain anymore!", or just demand he be put to death immediately on sight without trial. You can like a morally repulsive character and sympathize with their issues while also acknowledging that they're repulsive and need to face justice for their crimes. Burning Spice is one of my favorite characters, I love everything about him, he's sexy as fuck, I understand why he's the way he is, I'm still happy to see his ass beat because he's a piece of shit and he deserves it lol.

Not to throw shade at "simpler" villains ofc. I love me some assholes that are assholes just because they can be. Like Jack Horner in Puss in Boots 2. But Burning Spice isn't Jack Horner and he honestly shouldn't be. The deeper, sadder, more complex reasons governing his actions suit him better than just "I'm bored fuck this shit" and nothing else ykwim

and of course, he's still wrong. Burning Spice's view of the world is wrong. Does a book begin just to end? Does a song play just to finish in a few minutes' time? No. They begin so that we may read, listen, and enjoy. So that they may make us laugh, or have us shake our heads in disappointment, or tell us some hidden truth. Make our days and lives a little more interesting than they were before. Life is beautiful BECAUSE it is fleeting. Born, grow, wither, born, grow, wither. Yes, that's how it goes. But there's so much more to those things than just what we can gather from those three words. Every day is different. Though the sun rises every morning without fail, it's never quite the same color, is it? Always a bit of a different shade of yellow, orange, red, bleeding into the sky a little differently each time. There are so many things to see and do, games to play, people to meet and love and cherish. Maybe some of those things and those people won't be here someday but that doesn't mean their existence never meant anything. We are not born to die, we are born to live. We must die for those who are to live, and live for those who have died. Regardless, we must never lose sight of the intrinsic value of all that surrounds us. Burning Spice very much did. Underneath his bitterness and anger and (not unfounded, to be fair) lamentation for the unstoppable cycle of life and death is a deep-rooted selfishness and fundamental lack of understanding and appreciation for life and other people. In the face of despair, he gave in and chose evil. He was and is wrong for doing so, regardless of why he did it. He could've stepped down. He could've just admitted he didn't have what it took to be the Herald of Change. Hell, if he really hates being alive so much, he would've committed suicide a LONG time ago. But he never did any of that; instead he chose to inflict an equal or greater suffering on everything and everyone else, even the undeserving. And for that he MUST pay. And Golden Cheese, with her personality and her experiences and the wisdom she came to attain when faced with the exact same despair as Burning Spice, is exactly the right person to make him do that

I do think one circumstance in which Mydei would let Phainon fuck his wife (gn) is like. On a leash, figuratively or even literally lgmsnks. And it's not that Mydei is all that domineering, he really isn't. He's already wary of Phainon fucking him because he's so chaotic but with Mydei's most precious treasure? Oh he better be on his BEST behavior.

Because the thing is if you think Mydei is touchstarved - and he is, no doubt, Hephaestion was the last lover he had - Phainon is ten, a hundred times worse. Mydei has discipline and restraint and is ever conscious of his strength, and in this case is in an established relationship. Has had an established relationship before.

Phainon has nothing and no one but his destiny and frankly cannot be trusted to be unleashed in the bedroom. He's too excited, too eager, too enthusiastic to try all these things he's only ever imagined and

And it probably ends in either tears for Phainon from overstimulation or bickering between him and Mydei who's maybe being nitpicky and micro-managing according the Deliverer.

So I've been teasing this character in my tags/posts for a while, and she's finally hereeee. Anyways WHOOPS, another self indulgent Lethal Company character who is basically the Wario version of [Cap'n]!

Meet Echo and her crewmates: Orion (goggle'd circle-shaped one), Spade (short one with big arms), and Guy (shapely GNC one). Being the opposite of Cap'n's crew, they're all men EXCEPT for Echo!

At first, she started out as a grown woman having a one-sided, very pathetic beef with Cap'n, but she evolved into an angry teenager who projects all of her issues onto someone who literally doesn't know she exists (and subsequently does something horrible to herself to rectify this weird beef). Did it work? Well no, come on, look at her, now she's even worse GOKJDFMKDF

And when I say "one-sided", I mean it. Genuinely Cap'n doesn't know who she is, like, at all. I think the first time they meet will be the inevitable werewolf fight between the two of them when things get out of hand.

Anyways I love the kidnapper fox, but alas, she was too swag for this world, RIP to a real one that lasted a month and a half. u_u)!!

Incorrect, the fact that Biden has dropped out and a candidate with history of supporting medicare for all and being more receptive to a ceasefire in the I/P conflict has made me go from "I cannot morally support the Democratic nominee" to "I am voting for the Democratic nominee despite the fact she isn't perfect in every respect." I'm really happy this played out. The Dems for the most part abandoned the old Obama platform and it feels like its possible an actual progressive agenda could come to pass in my lifetime.

Alistair and Jut looked like they might be on the edge of being overwhelmed by the noctols, but fortunately... Kwahu is a lightning wizard. I always forget that about him.

The stunning effect of his chain lightning was enough to stun the noctols for long enough that Jut could down most of them through a combination of his creepjoiner psychic slaughter ability, sanguophage piercing spine ability, and general all-around badassery.

Alistair is allergic to EMPs, though, so he was downed along with the rest of the noctols and had to be carried home over Mechi's shoulder. This unnatural darkness has so far fucked up two of our colonists, which is two too many!

^The winter kitties (The snow option would bring out Blue and Dream, the christmas lights brought Fresh and the stocking was Ink)

^The special pairs (I don't think any of these made it to the polls lol but putting out a bed would bring Horror and Dust together, putting out a rainbow cushion would bring Color and Killer (this was how you would finally be able to pet him) and putting down comic books would bring Epic and Cross, who would finally purr when pet with his bestie)
