just gonna add that I am obsessed with Hildegard von Blingin's medieval covers and this one gives me Grimm troupe Hornet vibes...

Grimm and Hollow? Or Grimm and Hornet??

I'll do both!

Grimm and Hollow:

On Hollow's side, there is mostly avoidance and distrust.

Hollow holds respect for all citizens of hallownest, and feels still that its duty and sole purpose is to protect the kingdom.

It sees Grimm (the nightmare heart) as a potential threat to the kingdom and is thus on guard when forced to be in his presence.

In our post-canon series, Grimm is disconnected from the heart and his godly power, in exchange for his and his troupe's freedom. He stays in Hallownest to help the kingdom to regrow, and even after all of this, Hollow (literally the world's most stubborn bug) continues to distrust him. (When Hollow makes up its mind about someone/something it is VERY difficult for that to ever change.)

On Grimm's side, he is polite to all, but does not go out of his way to interact with or entertain anyone uninterested in him.

He knows of Hollow's grudge against him and doesn't particularly care to be in Hollows or really anyone's (outside of his troupe's) good graces.

He does have some respect for the Hollow knight as a higher being, but nothing much beyond that.

As for Grimm and Hornet:

On Hornet's side, she felt almost the exact same way as Hollow concerning the troupemaster. Seeing him as an unwanted and untrustworthy intrusion upon hallownest...

At first!

In the latter half of our post-canon series there is an episode under the working title "Silk Circus" that centers around Hornet joining the grimm troupe circus.

Now, at this point in the series (three years post-canon), the troupe has been free a long time and has settled into New Hallownest.

Hornet still isn't fond of the circus, but while searching for sabatuers in her home of Deepnest at the same time as the circus happens to be performing there, she disguises as a member of their troupe.

Grimm knows her plan, and is very willing to assist her,

And while it's all supposed to be a cover in order to expose the criminal she is after, she ends up really enjoying performing (as an acrobat of course) And with the encouragement of Grimm and the troupe, continues to perform (still disguised) even after her mission is complete.

The episode is an essential piece of Hornet's personal arc that revolves around her unwillingness to allow herself enjoyment of life and its many pleasures.

Even while finally allowing herself freedom through performing, she still feels some guilt and the need to hide this side of her from most of her friends and family.

In the end, of course, her identity is revealed to them, and she is relieved to have their support. (Most of their support. There is some tension with the white lady still, but i can't get into that here.)

Hornet working in the circus and enjoying herself there even inspires Hollow to lighten up to the troupe a little bit.

On Grimm's side, after she joins the troupe, he becomes very supportive. He is impressed with her skill and is most pleased that she enjoys displaying it.

She doesn't perform with them except when they're performing in Deepnest (or other rare occasions) she has too much else to deal with. But he still considers her a part of the family. As he does all those who join his troupe.

When it comes to Grimm personally, there is still some distrust and hesitation on Hornet's end. (That's how she is), and he knows that.

It doesn't bother him. Ultimately he's a bit surprised that she has anything to do with him at all.

Grimm is an easy-going fellow. He accepts people as they are.
