Ignore the time my New Yorkers, but after looking at George Stacy, Jefferson Davis, and Inspector Singh (and Miguel tho due to the fact he's a more of a main character I didn't wanna put him in the line up for this character design notice) I noticed that ATSV really likes BUFF and BUILT and BOXY dads
That's it-

SAME TALL BIG BOX BUILD
Edit: guys this isn't a simp/appreciation post I was just confused on why every dad character was so huge - Nana

Researching Characters so you don't have to Part 2: Pavitr Prabhakar & His Dialect
NOT MY ART! Click on it for the link! <3
Pavitr Prabhakar's accent is basically non-existent in writing. Its not like Hobie's where you make some letters silent and enunciate specific parts of the words. Indian accents, especially Pav's aren't shown through writing, which is perfectly fine. The difficult part of trying to write Pavitr Prabhakar is his dialect, not his accent.
Like I explained in my last post, dialect and accents aren't the same thing. An accent is the way someone pronounces things while the dialect is an accent along with vocabulary and grammar. Pavitr's dialect would be heavily influenced by Mumbai dialect, considering the fact that he lives in Mumbattan.
First off, Indians speak English. Like if you go to India, I guarantee that 90% of the people there under the age of 40 will speak fairly fluent English. Schools in India teach multiple languages, one of them usually being English, and Indian children are almost fluent in English by the age of 10-13. Its basically a necessity.
So if you're going to write Pav, don't butcher his English and make him sound like he doesn't speak it well, because thats not true. Most Indians speak English really well, and you shouldn't feed into the stereotypes with your writing.
However, he would speak a mixture of languages together. Think of it like Spanglish, where you use English grammar for Spanish words. Its the same thing with Indians. They often toss a couple of English words into a sentence using the grammar of whatever language they're speaking, whether its Hindi, Marathi, Tamil, Telugu, etc. They would also do it the other way around, tossing Hindi/Marathi/etc phrases into English sentences. So if you're going to write Pav, writing him tossing in Hindi phrases is going to be a lot more accurate than writing broken English or even full English, Especially if you're going to be writing him with his aunt, uncle or Gayatri, because they are all going to be speaking the same, if not a similar language, even if you're going to write them in English.
There's not much else to say, besides the fact that Indians tend to use some English words much more than they do in the west. For example Indians say the word "bro" a lot. Its seen in movies and just in general as well. Teenage boys and young adult men say "bro" almost all the time, usually referring to their friends, classmates, cousins, etc. But, they wouldn't say it to someone older to them or someone they need to be respectful towards, like a boss etc.
Some other phrases (Hindi) that Indians tend to use a lot are:
Bhaiyya (older brother - used to refer to boys older than you)
Achha? (really? - often used sarcastically but can also be used normally)
Arre! (Hey, hey you! - used to call someone, used to get someone's attention)
Yaar (friend - light/friendly slang term for a friend)
Like always, research is going to be your best friend, so if you want to find more of these phrases you can search them up on Google. Hopefully this helped <3

Two Weeks of Whump Day 5: Broken Glass/ Building Collapse
Fandom: Across the Spider-verse
Warning: Character Death
Summary: what if Miles hadn't saved Inspector Singh? What if everything went according to the canon?
Pavitr watched the building as surrendered to gravity. He watched as the fragments of the building fell around Inspector Singh and a child. It rested on the ground.
From there everything seemed to move in slow motion. Pavitr couldn't think right. What Inspector Singh had died? What if the child has been killed? What would he tell Gayatri?
Gayatri. Looking down at the bus he continued pulling it up. Hobie came over to help. Miles and Gwen got down and Miles started to ask her why she wouldn't let him help.
After the bus was brought to stable ground, Pavitr ran over the remainder of the building. Hobie helped the civilians out of the bus.
Glass crunched beneath Pavitr's feet. The shards stabbed into them, leaving blood behind. He didn't even know. The pain didn't register. As he walked the pieces tore more and more of his skin and went further into his feet.
Pulling pieces of ruble from the pile, Spider-Man searches for the police chief and the child he had been trying to help. He could hear the child crying but other than that the sounds around him were like a faint ringing.
"Inspector Singh?" He whispered to himself. As Pavitr removed one of the pieces a pained scream came from under it. Finally the two were uncovered. Other than being terrified the kid was okay.
Inspector Singh not so much. His bloody body lay on the ground. One of his legs was crushed under a larger piece of debris and it appears a rode had impaled him. However the rode had been attached to the piece of rubel that had been part of the puzzle of the Alcomexe building.
Hobie came over and took the child to safety, understanding that Pavitr had to take care of his Captain Stacy. He would help him through it later.
Pavitr tried. He placed his hands on the wound and put pressure on it. Yelling for a doctor wouldn't save him now. The child" strained the Inspector, "is he okay?"
"Yes, he is." Pavitr's voice faltered. Tears formed in his eyes and fell, being hidden by the mask. "Hanging there sir, please."
"My daughter?" The question took Pavitr off guard.
"She's okay. I got her. Sir, you'll be okay. I promise." Before a doctor could arrive on scene Inspector Singh passed. Pavitr knew somewhere in his mind but didn't stop holding on to hope. After all he promised.
When Gayatri realized what had happened she ran towards her father. Hobie, who had given the child to his father and was trying to get Miles and Gwen to stop arguing about why Miles should have been there to help and why Gwen shouldn't have stopped him, ran towards her. He grabbed her from behind and she screamed. "Dad!"
Suddenly the agreement between Miles and Gwen didn't matter. Hobie tried to help Gayatri but she wouldn't stop fighting him. She kicked her feet as Hobie tried to move her farther from the unstable wreckage. "I'm so sorry."
"Let go of me! Dad!" Her voice broke the hearts of the people she was near. Hobie held her tighter. She sobbed and screamed, never letting up on Hobie. She hit strong, if this was a better time Hobie would compliment her on it.
Doctors finally arrived on screen. Pavitr took a step back. He walked back over the glass. Looking down he saw the blood and looked around to figure out who had been injured. It was then that he realized the pain in his feet.
Ignoring it he walked right up to Gayatri. Hobie was no longer restarting her but instead holding her as she cried. Pavitr tapped on her shoulder gently with the back of his hand as go not get any blood on her. "You're his daughter, right?" Of course Pavitr knew that she was.
Gayatri turned around quickly, accidentally sending Hobie back. "yes."
"I'm so sorry." He no longer could hide that he was crying. The sobs came through the mask that he desperately tried to keep on.
Unsure if what to say Gayatri nodded. Hobie came over and hugged Pavitr. "You did your best."
Pavitr broke the hug quickly and got on his tippy toes to whisper something to Hobie. "I'm going to go change, I need to be there for her." Hobie nodded and Pav turned to leave.
Gayatri stopped him, "thank you for trying."
"I just wish it had worked."
With that he swung away. It wasn't but a few minutes before he returned. He ran up to Gayatri. Hobie finally let her go, her sadly smiling at him as he did. Hobie joined Miles and Gwen in aiding where needed. "I got here as quickly as I could."
Gayatri could tell he had been crying. It looked like he was still trying not to. She grabbed him shaking and slowly the two sat down. As she sobbed into his chest Pavitr did what he could to comfort her.
Moving from her position, Gayatri looked him in the eyes. She didn't say anything. Pavitr pulled her back in, not being able to look her in her beautiful brown eyes, "I'm sorry."

Spiderverse Incorrect Quote
Random cop: So you’re not going to say anything about your daughter and Pavitr?
Inspector Singh: Gayatri is young I’m sure it’ll only last a few months.
4 years later
Gayatri: Pavitr and I are moving in together!
Random Cop: How about now?
Inspector Singh: She’s still figuring her life out.
4 more years later
At Gayatri and Pavitr’s wedding
Random cop: So?
Inspector Singh: Grumbles

Crime Doesn't Wait For Us
Pavitr and Gayatri are having a sleepover, holding each other so lovingly and tenderly. Unfortunately, crime does not care what you may be doing.
A/N: I wrote this story over a few days and every time I picked it up it was past 9PM. As most of my stories are made, of course. So if it isn't super great I blame that, as I usually do. I swear I can't help it, I just don't feel like writing any other time T^T
~~~
Warnings: Mentions of past death and violence, but nothing explicit. Pavitr briefly goes into detail about a fight but it's very brief!
Pairing(s): GoldenClass(Pavitr x Gayatri)
AO3
~~~
Inspector Singh was very protective of his daughter, and disapproved of most boys that she knew. He did his best to make sure that she was nothing but safe and loved, and was overly critical of... Well, everyone. But even so, he did want to her to be happy. And if that meant eventually caving in to accepting her boyfriend, then maybe that's just what he had to do.
When Gayatri had formally introduced him to Pavitr, he couldn't really say that he was surprised. He had seen them, even when they thought that he couldn't. He could see how they leaned into each other, how an accidental brush of the hand usually lasted longer when they didn't realize that he was looking, how their hugs goodbye after school lasted longer than they probably should have.
Sometimes, he could even hear them in her room. Now that one was a bit concerning, as he wasn't really sure how that Prabhakar kid even got in there, but he never really said anything. They seemed happy, and he knew that his daughter was responsible enough to not do anything stupid while they were alone. He didn't know a lot about this kid, but if Gayatri was so happy with him, he didn't want to ruin that by pushing too hard.
When they had finally met, Inspector Singh could say that he, for once, approved. Pavitr himself seemed to be a good person. He was confident and loud, but he was also incredibly polite. He was patient and careful with his words, and he looked at Gayatri as if she was the only thing that he could. Now that was something that Inspector Singh could trust, especially with his daughter.
Despite that, he still set some boundaries for them. He did not mind Pavitr coming over to visit Gayatri, to even spend the night if he wanted. However, he did not approve of her going over to his place. It was easier to know that Gayatri was safe if she stayed home, and Pavitr seemed to understand that entirely.
Which was how they ended up here, having a little sleepover in Gayatri's room. There was music in the background playing from Pavitr's phone, some random song that they weren't paying attention to. They were sitting on the bed, legs crossed and facing each other as Gayatri painted his nails. Pavitr was ranting about his day, talking about school and his... other duties.
"So the robber swung at me, and then I ducked because of course I did - I'm Spider-Man, it's too easy - and so I landed a few hits, and then the robber-"
"Pavitr," Gayatri said, interrupting his speech softly, "you know I love you and everything about you, but please. Stop talking with your hands for just a moment, I am painting them."
"Oh, sorry," he said sheepishly. He hadn't even realized it, but his hands had lost themselves somewhere in the air while he was talking. Delicately, he gave the hand that she was working on back to her.
"It's alright, don't worry," she reassured. Her thumb ran gently over his knuckles, which were still slightly bruised. She brought it up to her lips, kissing them with care. "I know it's your job and all, but you should try to stop getting into so many fights. At least the unnecessary ones."
"You know I can't do that," he whispered, being mindful to not get so excited he waves his hands around again. "Every fight could be a necessary one to join. If I ignore it, something bad could happen. It certainly wouldn't be the first time."
Gayatri's hand stilled, the brush of the polish stilling at the tip of his nail as she felt the mood shift. Her eyes wandered up to his eyes, glossy and rather vacant. His eyebrows were furrowed slightly, almost unnoticeable. But she had known him long enough to be able to pick it out.
"So what happened next?" His eyes become focused at the sound of her voice, meeting her gaze. "After- after you got those hits in. You never finished the story."
Pavitr smiled softly, putting himself back into the moment. He felt infinitely lucky to have a girlfriend who cared for him so much, and who knew him so well.
"Ok, so, after I got in a few hits, the robber pulled out a gun and-"
"I think that's enough of the story."
Pavitr let out a short bark of laughter, curling forward and pressing his forehead to Gayatri's. She continued decorating his nails as he laughed to himself. Her eyes briefly glanced up to his joyous face, taking in the sight of his scrunched nose and wide smile. She was so happy to have someone like him to call hers.
"Alright, now you just need to wait for it to dry," she said as she coated his final nail. "Try not to rub it on anything, and don't use your hands too much until you're sure that they're entirely dry."
"Yes, ma'am!" Pavitr assured, curling his hands into bear claws. He let out a soft, playful growl as he did so, pulling a chuckle out of his girlfriend. "So uhhhh, what should we do now? While we wait for this to dry at least."
Gayatri pondered for a moment, racking her brain for things to do. "Well, I usually just watch a movie, or if I'm up to it just talk to my dad. But we probably shouldn't bug him, so... Movie?"
"Yeah, that sounds good! You can pick one, I don't care too much."
Gayatri and Pavitr settled into her bed comfortably, her laying against his shoulder with his head on hers. Pavitr had his hands interlocked with themselves resting on his chest to ensure they dry properly. Their legs were intertwined, and Gayatri had her laptop resting in her lap as she scrolled through a list of movies.
"Anything catch your eye?" Gayatri asked, continuing to scroll mindlessly through the options. "I've watched most of the good stuff, but I don't know what you've seen or not."
"Eh, not really, and I don't want to make you watch something you've seen before," came his reply as he leaned deeper into her scent. "What if we just watched the worst rated film on here?"
Gayatri paused her scrolling for a moment to contemplate his idea. She quickly opened up another tab, looking up what exactly the worst rated film would be. It was some animated movie, and it looked absolutely atrocious. It was perfect.
The character models were flat, yet somehow chunky. The voice acting was flat, made from people who didn't seem to even want to be involved in the movie. The story itself was all over the place, and neither could really describe it if someone else asked what it was about.
There were many laughs shared, mostly over how absurd the film was. They conversed back and forth about random things, sometimes not even related to what they were watching. Gayatri let out a few yawns, feeling tuckered out as the night progressed, and Pavitr let out many more.
In the final few minutes of the movie, Pavitr was entirely gone. He was snoring softly, face buried deep in Gayatri's hair and hands still locked with each other. Gayatri smiled warmly, deciding to let it at least finish. She had gotten this far, she may as well.
She was quick to back out of the movie once it had finished, opening up one of her shows to continue watching where she had left off. Pavitr was asleep, so she didn't feel too bad. She didn't get half way through the next episode when she had fallen asleep as well.
When the sun peaked through the curtains, Pavitr found his eyes opening slowly. He felt Gayatri's body heat against hers, smelling the perfume that essentially coated the room. There was an itch in the back of his head, alerting him that something was about to come up before it actually did.
Slowly, he wiggled himself out from under his girlfriend, laying her gently against his pillows. He crept over to the other side of her room where his bag was located, slipping his hand to the very bottom and pulling out his Spider-Man suit.
As quietly as he could, he slipped his suit over his muscular skin and fluffed his hair. Silently once more, he tip-toed back to the bed. His hand found its way on the side of Gayatri's face, caressing it softly. He planted a firm kiss onto her forehead, pressing their noses together.
"I have to go my love," he whispered. "I'm sure I'll be back before you awake, but I tell you now in case I don't"
The itch in his head began to grow, ringing through his ears in a steady and heavy thrum. He pushed the window open, attaching himself to the wall and making his way onto the roof. He perched himself on the ledge, patient and focused as he listened for any danger.
A scream to his left caught his attention quick, and soon enough he was jumping over the streets. Sometimes he wished that he could just sleep in, but that wasn't really how it worked.
Crime didn't wait, and neither could he. At least he would have something interesting to tell her when he came back.

(little) Details Across the Spiderverse that didn’t make sense Pt 2: Gayatri Singh
Watching the movie we were introduce to Pavitr Prabhakar (2nd best boy) girlfriend: GAYATRI, an extremely classy teenager (cute).
She is supposed to be his dimensional version of Gwen Stacy.
a little obvious because
1: Her initials G.S., like Gwen Stacy.
2: Her father is a police officer.
But while re-watching I noticed this on the billboard that Miles was thrown into.
Look familiar?
This doesn’t make sense since the only love interest of Spiderman, from my knowledge, who was a model was Mary Jane (MJ). Not to mention that the company that is using her image in their advertisement is from a multinational company in India, not a small business.
So why did they do this? I mean the writers, not the company.

I LOVE THIS HEADCANON
You think people from other universes feel weird or off to non-Spider people?
Like the Spideys are so used to their Spidey Senses telling them shits off, but Spidey Senses like other Spiders, so they can ignore it pretty easily but
Rio looks at the girl her son is talking to under the water tower and can’t get the crawling feeling of unease from nagging at her. This “Gwanda” is strange—not just white girl strange—the colors of her face seem to blur and blend in front of her, but that hardly makes sense; Rio is just being overprotective. When the girl promises to find Miles, Jeff thinks she looked like she was under UV light.
George Stacy could swear that the young man that drops the box for Gwen at his door changes colors every time he looks away. There’s something jagged and rough about him, and it’s not just the punk aesthetic. If he squints, George thinks he can see some kind of aura around him.
The boy in the black mask that saves Inspector Singh is odd, for a lack of better word. His suit looks too… black, oddly textured in a way that Singh can’t quite define. For once, he is grateful for the Spider they do have.

Gwen Stacy Falls For Spider-Man
Ok, so until the next movie, this is how it's going to go down in my head:
-Miles is being chased by the spider society who have caught everyone but Gwen.
-Lyla pops up and says there's a canon event about to happen and everyone confused on what to do and Miguel conflicted with stopping Miles and thus a canon event.
-Miles and Gwen are high up when Gwen gets shot (I haven't decided how and why). It looks alot like uncle Aaron getting shot.
-Gwen Stacy falls and Spider-man dives after her.
-Miles shoots a web at Gwen and the whole world flips like comic pages showing the hunderds of Gwen Stacy's deaths.
-The pages get interupted with a close up of Gwen's hand reaching up and weakly grabs Miles' web.
-Wide shot of Gwen dangling from the web with Miles literally running down the building towards her.
-Now the camera is at the bottom of the building with a small puddle of red.
-Gwen's legs briefly swing into view akin to a hanged man.
-Gwen is lowed down while Miles makes a rough landing and immediately goes to her side.
-"Gwen! No, no, no, no, no, no, no..."
-Gwen's eyes are barely open and she sputters out Miles' name.
-Miles moves her hand and uses his webs to completely stop the bleeding.
-Miles looks up and realizies Gwen has stopped breathing.
-"Please no, Gwen come on."
-Gwen is layed down flat on the ground and Miles puts his hands on top of each other on her chest.
-Gwen's body lurches once then twice as Miles uses his electricity powers.
-Gwen then coughs awakes and Miles triping over his tongue to ask if she's okay.
-Gwen's shoulder is in bad shape but she's alive.
-Miles then hugs Gwen and unlike all of those iconic poses of Spider-man hugging the body of someone he couldn't save, Gwen hugs him back.
-Miles couldn't do anything when his uncle got shot, his mom is a nurse, and it's been over a year later; no way is he not going to learn how to prevent that from happening again.
-Gwen knows it doesn't end well for Gwen Stacy, the haunted faces of the hunderds of Peter Parker's remind her she's a Ghost-spider. She knows the sickening crunch that's in every Spider-man's history.
-In that monent, both of them chose to learn from the past and not repeat history.
-Lyla then states that the canon event is complete.
-"But Gwen is still alive how can-"
-"Gwen Stacy falls in love with Spider-man and then she falls and dies. Umm that kinda all of happened. The canon event doesn't seem to include her staying dead though..."
-Realization, shock, and horror from the entire Spider society watching Gwen Stacy die again and finding out their canon events didn't have to tragic.
-End scene.
