Here are a few key comments from Variety’s review of “The Marvels”.

the space-shifting and identity-hopping has the unintentional effect of making the three seem a little too interchangeable.

more viewers may feel like they’re scrambling to keep up, and are therefore less inclined to do so.

The jocular but humdrum banter to come off, at moments, like Charlie’s Angels minus the postmodern wit.

the bits of absurd comedy tend to feel strained, because they clash with the movie’s mostly utilitarian tone.

The leaps in tone would be less jarring if “The Marvels” weren’t so skittery and episodic.

the film is a series of goals in search of a higher mission.

Guy Debord ne croit pas si bien dire lorsqu’il qu’il proclaime que le “vrai n’est qu’un moment du faux”, bien que ce soit dans la nature même de la “réalité” d’être ainsi. Mais force est de reconnaître qu’on ne pourra plus qu’essayer d’orienter l’”idiot global” le mieux possible pour qu’il ne le soit pas trop ! Et c’est désolant mais nous en sommes au point de devoir rabacher par exemple que le phénomène de l’impérialisme (qu’on pourrait dire désormais diffus) n’est nullement une raison pour ne pas condamner tous les régimes despotiques, criminels, également ! Que par ailleurs tout est plus ou moins lié en ce monde, et de toutes sortes de façons… Qu’aussi plus généralement il est bon de se cultiver et d’avoir des références, mais tout autant de tout réfléchir, actualiser, et que personne ne pourra me remplacer pour ça !
