Rare footage of Marsha Hunt at the Isle of Wight festival in 1969. At the time, this was the biggest open-air concert in music history, and Marsha was the only woman to perform at the event.

Ch217 (p2); Hiatus research in use
We know that Yana-san did a lot of traveling, interviewing, and other research during her long hiatus, and ch217 shows some of the fruits of that. We get a history lesson about the Royal Pavilion...

...as well as info about Crown Prince George IV, who had it built. A pleasure palace, indeed.
Tumblr media
I at first thought it an odd choice to call the prince a "spendthrift", since I had thought that was a term for someone who is thrifty, but it's actually the opposite. Also, "prodigal" is associated with the biblical parable about the son who leaves and later returns, but the main definition for the word describes a spendthrift -- wasteful and extravagant. I suppose Brighton was happy to buy it as a tourist attraction.
Then we get some information about Victoria's preferred idea of a pleasure palace, Osborne House on the Isle of Wight.
Tumblr media
Unlike George's waste of public funds, Osborne House was paid by Victoria and Albert's money... though aren't they paid by the taxpayers anyway? 🤔 I think that's why "paid for it themselves" is in quotes.
Though she developed a taste for curries and mangosteen, her interests in the Near East and Far East were a bit different from his. They definitely didn't have the same tastes in architecture or decor.

Then Sebastian notices this advertisement for a charity bazaar and children's ball.
