The Pitt Timeline
This timeline of The Pitt will be updated with new information as people will hopefully correct me and add to this! Notes explaining general calculations (confirming season 1 is set in 2025, the birth year of characters, the general timeline I used for medical school to emergency medicine residency) are beneath the cut.
Date - Event
1948 - Montgomery Adamson is born (S1E01, plaque on memorial wall).
1982/1983* - Cassie McKay is born (S1E01, “42-year-old R2”).
1992/1993 - Dana Evans begins working at the Emergency Department at Pittsburgh Trauma Medical Center (PTMC) (S1E08, “32 years”).
1995/1996 - Samira Mohan is born (on Twitter, Supriya Ganesh says the writers and her decided Mohan is 29 in season 1 [link]).
October/November 1998 - Trinity Santos is born (S1E06, she tells Yolanda Garcia her star sign is Scorpio; the first draft of the script for the first episode [link] says she is 26, so if the season is set in September, her birthday has not passed yet).
2004/2005 - Victoria Javadi is born (S1E01, “I’m 20”).
By August 2005 - Michael Robinavitch completed his residency program at Big Charity Hospital in New Orleans, Louisiana (S1E09). While the timeline between then and his arrival at PTMC is unclear, the hospital closed following Hurricane Katrina in August 2005. Therefore, Robinavitch would have left the hospital in 2005 at the latest.
2007/2008 - Jake Malloy, Robinavitch’s stepson, is born (S1E05, “I’m 17”).
2008/2009 - Mohan’s dad dies when she is 13 (S1E05).
2013/2014 - Harrison Ashcroft, McKay’s son, is born (S1E02, “he’s 11 now”).
March/April 2016 - McKay gets sober (S1E05, “9 years, 5 months, and 11 days”).
2017/2018 - Javadi attends college and later medical school at the University of Pittsburgh (S1E10, “go to college at 13”).
2020/2021 - Tanner Langdon, Frank Langdon’s son, is born (S1E02, “four-year-old”).
Before September 2020 - In a flashback set in 2020 when Adamson’s health was declining because of COVID-19, Mohan is pictured in a photo at his bedside (S1E07, Robinavitch and Perlah Alawi are also pictured). This may be an error in using a picture of the cast, but if accurate, this implies Mohan attended medical school in Pittsburgh. At the latest that this photo could have been taken (at PTMC in early 2020), Mohan would have been in her first year of medical school.
September 2020 - Adamson dies during the COVID-19 pandemic after 17 days on ECMO.
July 2021 - John Shen begins his first year of the emergency medicine residency program at PTMC** (S1E12, “still a resident three months ago”).
July 2022 - Heather Collins, Langdon, and Parker Ellis begin their first year of residency.
July 2023 - Mohan begins her first year of residency.
July 2024 - McKay begins her first year of residency.
July 2025 - Shen becomes an attending physician in emergency medicine. Collins, Langdon, and Ellis begin their fourth year of residency. Mohan begins her third year of residency. McKay begins her second year of residency.
August 2025 - Dennis Whitaker does an internal medicine rotation in PTMC (S1E15). He is in his fourth year of medical school. Javadi is in her third year of medical school at the University of Pittsburgh*** (S1E01).
September 2025 - This is when season 1 takes place (S1E06, Shelby Adamson’s thank you note says “five short years ago” was Adamson’s death, which occurred in 2020). Melissa King begins her second year of residency after two months at a Veterans Affairs hospital (S1E01). Santos begins her internship at PTMC (S1E01).
July 2026 - Season 2 is set on the Fourth of July weekend, ten months after season 1.
Season 1 takes place over the course of fifteen hours of the same day. It occurs on an odd day (S1E02), a Friday (S1E15), and in September (S1E12, break room calendar; season 2 is set 10 months ahead in July). I think this places the date of season 1 as September 5th or September 19th. For the purposes of this timeline, season one is treated as occurring in September 2025. The evidence is as follows:
On YouTube, there is a trailer titled “The Pitt | Official Trailer | Max” (link) with a deleted scene where Collins says to Robby that Adamson’s death was “five years ago today”. We know the death occurred in 2020, so that makes it 2025.
In episode 6, when Shelby Adamson, Adamson’s sister, sends a thank you note to the ER staff, her letter also says it has been five years. A transcription of the note: “To the ER Staff of PTMC, As my brother would have done, I think of you all today. Sending this as a token of thanks for all that you do and all that you did for Monty, five short years ago. With love, Shelby Adamson”
Then, we have that patient in episode 10 who gets hit in the eye playing baseball. He says he is 16 and he was born on December 7th, 2008. This would only make it 2024 if it were December, but it is not.
Finally, Noah Wyle said at the FYC panel recently that season 2 is intended to be set on the Fourth of July weekend, on the 250th anniversary of the US, which makes it July 2026.
*When given the age of a character, I give two possible years the character was born to accommodate for the fact that their birthday may not have passed yet. So, for example, Cassie McKay says she is 42. If we treat season one as being set in September 2025, she is at the latest born in September 1983 if her birthday just passed and she just turned 42. However, it may be the case that her birthday has not passed in the calendar year yet (like Santos, who is a Scorpio and therefore has a birthday sometime in late October to mid-November). This means she can at the earliest be born in September 1982 (say, late September), and turn 43 shortly after the events of season one. I use similar logic for events that happen at a certain age (Mohan’s dad’s death when she was 13 - she could have just turned 13 or turned 14 later that year; same with Javadi and the year she began attending college).
**Here is the general information that I used to make the timeline for medical training. (Information concerning the American medical school system is compiled from cursory Google searches and browsing sources such as the National Resident Matching Program [NRMP] and Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education [ACGME]. Please be advised that there may be errors and variations may exist. I am not in the medical field, so do correct me!) Following the completion of medical school, new doctors generally begin their residency programs on July 1. The emergency medicine residency program at Pittsburgh Medical Trauma Center is a four-year program (S1E04): R1 (interns), R2, R3, and R4. I am assuming all of the attendings and residents who we know did/are doing their residencies at PTMC immediately matched after four years of medical school and began their residencies in the emergency department in the July following graduation unless otherwise stated.
***In real life, I only found one medical school in Pittsburgh (the other school in the area confers D.O.), the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine (Javadi says she attends Pitt in S1E10). Does Whitaker also attend Pitt? I guess we don’t know if there is another made-up medical school in Pittsburgh until season 2?

Johnny Cash - Hurt 2002
"Hurt" is a song by American industrial rock band Nine Inch Nails from their second studio album, The Downward Spiral (1994), written by Trent Reznor. It was released on April 17, 1995, as a promotional single from the album. The song received a Grammy Award nomination for Best Rock Song in 1996.
In 2002, Johnny Cash covered "Hurt" for his final album during his lifetime, to commercial and critical acclaim. Reznor praised Cash's interpretation of the song for its "sincerity and meaning", going so far as to say "that song isn't mine anymore". The single contains a cover of Depeche Mode's "Personal Jesus" as a B-side. The music video features images from Cash's life, and was named the best video of the year by the Grammy Awards and CMA Awards, and the best video of all time by NME in July 2011. When the video was filmed in February 2003, Cash was 71 years old and had serious health problems. His frailty is clearly evident in the video. He died seven months later, on September 12.
The Johnny Cash cover was given the Country Music Association award for "Single of the Year" in 2003. It ranked as CMT's top video for 2003, No. 1 on CMT's 100 Greatest Country Music Videos the following year (and again in 2008), and No. 1 on the Top 40 Most Memorable Music Videos on MuchMoreMusic's Listed in October 2007. As of March 2016, the single occupies the number nine spot on Rate Your Music's Top Singles of the 2000s. The song is also Cash's sole chart entry on the Billboard Modern Rock Tracks chart, where it hit No. 33 in 2003. In June 2009, the song was voted No. 1 in UpVenue's Top 10 Best Music Covers. "Hurt" was nominated for six awards at the 2003 MTV Video Music Awards, winning for Best Cinematography. With the video, Johnny Cash became the oldest artist ever nominated for an MTV Video Music Award. The music video won the 2004 Grammy Award for Best Short Form Music Video. In a 2014 survey conducted by the BBC the UK public voted the Johnny Cash version the second greatest cover version (of any song) of all time.
"Hurt" received a total of 76,3% yes votes!

The History of Loki’s Genderfluidity in Marvel!
Loki’s genderfluid identity within the Marvel universe actually comes from ancient Norse mythology from the time of the vikings, over a thousand years ago. There are Norse myths that describe that, while the god of chaos was born male, he presents himself as both male and female, and uses his shapeshifting powers to transform himself into a woman, such as the time when Loki posed as a handmaiden, and also spent several years in a female form and bore children. The myths refer to him as both a mother and a father.
While Loki presenting as both male and female dates all the way back to Norse Mythology, there wasn't a moment in Marvel comics where Loki seriously spoke about his gender identity until 2014, a whole 52 years after his first appearance in Marvel Comics (and 65 years after his first appearance in Timely Comics).
However, while Loki's female form didn't become an express part of his identity until 2014, traces of his genderfluidity still existed in Marvel comics, even if it wouldn't be expanded upon until much later. In fact, the first appearance of Loki in a female form was back in 1993 in Thor Annual #18, when Loki briefly transforms into a woman.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
(Thor Annual #18, released June 8, 1993)
We see this form again 14 years later in December of 2007, in a Thor comic run that takes place after Ragnarok and all the Asgardians have been reborn, and Loki has been reborn into Sif's body. This comic run is also where the name “Lady Loki” became popularized.
Tumblr media
(Thor #5, released December 28, 2007)
And while there is a brief conversation had by the Warriors Three discussing Loki's gender identity, there still wouldn't be a comic that states this form as a part of his identity for another seven years.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
(Thor #9, released May 29, 2008)
Agent of Asgard, a Loki-centered comic series released in 2014, is a huge moment in Loki's genderfluidity. This is when we really start to see Loki refer his female form as a true part of himself, as first seen in issue #2.
Tumblr media
(Agent of Asgard #2, released March 5, 2014)
We see this form again in issue #5, where Loki once again describes this form as not just something he can just transform into.
Tumblr media
(Agent of Asgard #5, released June 4, 2014)
Loki then continues with a female form for a majority of issues #14-16.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
(Agent of Asgard #14, released May 20, 2015) (Agent of Asgard #15, released June 24, 2015) (Agent of Asgard #16, released July 22, 2015)
While there had been whispers of Loki's queer identity in other comics before this point, Agent of Asgard was huge in solidifying Loki's genderfluidity and really cementing him as a queer character in the Marvel universe. Since then, Loki has carried his genderfluidity on into several other comic series by many different authors:
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
(Loki #2, released July 12, 2023) (Loki #3, released September 11, 2019) (The Unbeatable Squirrel Girl #27, released December 13, 2017) (Defenders Beyond #1, released July 20, 2022) (Vote Loki #1, released June 15, 2016) (Immortal Thor #3, released October 25, 2023)
Appeared on the covers of Marvel's pride comics:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
(Marvel Voices Pride #1 2022 Variant Cover, released June 22, 2022) (Marvel Voices Pride #1 2023, released June 14, 2023)
Showcased him shapeshifting into other female Marvel characters:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
(X-Men the Wedding Special #1, released May 29, 2024)
Other characters in the Marvel universe have accepted his identity:
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
(Agent of Asgard #11, released February 18, 2015) (Loki #4, released October 9, 2019) (Original Sin #5.5, released September 17, 2014)
His gender identity being mentioned in the novel “Where Mischief Lies”:
Tumblr media
(Where Mischief Lies, chapter 22, released September 3, 2019)
And even a very brief mention in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, when his TVA file in the Loki series lists his sex as “fluid”:
Tumblr media
(Loki season 1, released June 9, 2021)
The term “genderfluid” falls under the trans umbrella, which includes any identity that involves you identifying as something different than what you were assigned at birth. While we still have a long way to go in terms of trans representation in the media, Loki being firmly cemented as a trans character within the Marvel universe is a huge step in the right direction.
Loki is very vocal about identifying as male, and female, and sometimes neither. He doesn't care if you don't get it, or think it's weird. It makes perfect sense to him, and that's all that matters. And he refuses to change his identity for anyone.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
(Where Mischief Lies, chapter 18, released September 3, 2019) (Where Mischief Lies, chapter 19, released September 3, 2019) (Agent of Asgard #2, released March 5, 2014) (Agent of Asgard #14, released May 20, 2015)

Principal photography for the sixth Harry Potter film began in late 2007, with Emma Watson part being filmed from 18 December to 17 May 2008. Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince premiered on 15 July 2009, having been delayed from November 2008. With the lead actors in their late teens, critics were increasingly willing to review them on the same level as the rest of the franchise's all-star cast, which the Los Angeles Times described as "a comprehensive guide to contemporary UK acting". The Washington Post felt Watson had given "[her] most charming performance to date", while The Daily Telegraph described the lead actors as "newly liberated and energised, eager to give all they have to what's left of the series".

Hiiii! I'm sorry for coming to you but idk who to ask 😭😭😭
As a wlw girlie myself I found amazing that Lara did a coming out, and like… now I want to know more about the group. Can you help me, from where should I start? How to get to know them better?
HIII, THIS IS SO SWEET! I'm more than happy to lend a hand!
So, as you probably already know, KATSEYE was formed on a survival reality show: Dream Academy. You can watch the reality show on Netflix, or watch the missions, performances and final decision on HYBE's YouTube.
The reality show has 8 episodes and is very quick to watch. I think it would be cool if you started there, since that's where most eyekons know more about the girls' personalities! Despite some, let's say, "discussions" between the girls, it is a good starting point to get to know them better.
They don't have a lot of content on their channel, but the ones they do have are amazing. For example, 'Detox Day', where they spend a few hours without their phones, the sleepover, Yoonchae's graduation, etc...
I also recommend you watch fan videos about their lives and videos of them. I recommend some channels, such as: meoweye, anna (katsieye), katsvision, meerkatss, yoonseye, kei...
If you want to interact more with eyekons, I recommend eyekonville on Twitter!!!!
(The only members who have official positions are Sophia (Leader), Lara (Main Vocalist) and Yoonchae (Maknae), The others still don't have confirmed positions, but they say that Megan and Daniela would be the main/lead dancers.)

Fuck Newsweek! I'm usually against the death penalty but that crime was so heinous he and the other guy should have fried.
By Genevieve Gluck February 3, 2025
A sadistic killer serving life for the brutal murder of a mother and her two daughters has received a sympathetic profile in Newsweek that has sparked outrage. In the interview, Steven Hayes, who is now calling himself Linda Mai Lee, blamed his “gender identity” woes for the killings, and promoted “gender affirming care” for inmates.
Hayes is currently serving six life sentences and a maximum sentence of 999 years, plus 99 months and 999 days, at Oregon State Penitentiary for the Connecticut home invasion and slaughter of Jennifer Hawke-Petit and her two young daughters. The 2007 killings, which shook the country due to the brutality, has come to be known as the Cheshire murders.
In his interview with Newsweek, Hayes told reporter Joshua Rhett Miller that he was “happy to be alive” since he began claiming to be a transgender woman and started taking female hormones in 2018. Hayes said that he has been provided with makeup, jewelry, and women’s underwear, including bras. The fetish items, Newsweek states, “eliminated [his] thoughts of suicide,” and Hayes is now seeking to undergo a breast augmentation and hair replacement procedure.
“My whole life I hid who I truly was and tried to deny it to myself,” Hayes said. “I had so much hate for who I was pretending to be, I stayed high and always wanted to die.”
Referring to the violent killer with feminine pronouns, Newsweek reported that “her former anger” which led to the slaughter of the Petit family “had been fueled by the question of her gender identity,” and that Hayes was now participating in Equality-8, a club for “LGBTQ” inmates.
When speaking with Miller, Hayes claimed to have been diagnosed with gender dysphoria at the age of 16, but curiously was not told of the diagnosis at the time – leading to a storm of “intolerance” brewing inside of him, and resulting in the killing spree for which he was convicted.
“I hurt, so I hurt others,” Hayes said. Newsweek, while portraying the convicted rapist and murderer sympathetically, added: “According to research by the Williams Institute at UCLA School of Law, transgender people are over four times more likely than others to be victims of violent crime.”
In the early hours of July 23, 2007, Hayes, along with accomplice Joshua Komiserjevsky whom he met at a halfway house, broke into the Petit family’s home in Cheshire, Connecticut. The two men would then enact a horrific seven-hour crime spree that would result in the sadistic killings of mother Jennifer Hawke-Petit and her two daughters, Michaela, 11, and Hayley, 17.
Upon entering their home, Komiserjevsky proceeded to beat Dr. William Petit with a baseball bat before restraining him in the basement. Hayes and Komisarjevsky bound Jennifer, Michaela, and Hayley by their wrists and ankles to their bedposts and placed pillowcases over their heads.
The two men then ransacked the Petit home in a frenzied search for cash. Hayes was spotted on a gas station surveillance camera purchasing $10 worth of gasoline. Dissatisfied with the spoils of their burglary, Hayes abducted Jennifer and drove her to the bank in the morning, forcing her to withdraw $15,000 from her line of credit.
Hawke-Petit was able to inform the bank teller that she and her family were being held hostage by the men, and that they were threatening to kill them. The bank manager called the police while she was still with the teller. The Cheshire police then dispatched a crew of officers, who sent up a vehicle perimeter around the Petit’s house, while concealing their presence.
After Hayes returned from the bank with Jennifer, both he and Komiserjevsky escalated their brutality. Komiserjevsky raped 11 year-old Michaela, who he had spotted at the supermarket the day before. Prosecutors would later argue in court that the entire spree had been motivated by Komiserjevsky’s interest in sexually abusing the young girl. Hayes raped Jennifer’s corpse after strangling her to death with a pair of stockings, and the two men doused her lifeless body in gasoline. They also poured gasoline on the two girls, who were still alive and bound in their rooms, before setting the house ablaze. Hayley managed to break free of her restraints and ran out of her bedroom, but collapsed and died of smoke inhalation in the hallway. Young Michaela’s body was found in her bed, her hands tied to the frame.
William Petit was the sole survivor of the slaughter. He had successfully freed himself, exited the house through the basement, and crawled to a neighbor’s house.
Both confessed to their crimes when questioned by police, and both would write letters boasting about the murders. Hayes was convicted in October 2010, and sentenced to death that December. Komisarjevsky was found guilty the following year and received the death sentence, as well, but the two killers would later have their sentences revised to life terms in prison.

Ultimately, the revised sentence would come even after claims made by Hayes in October 2011 that he had murdered 17 other women, including hitchhikers, run-aways, and sex trafficking victims. During Komisarjevsky’s trial Hayes had been conducting written correspondences in which he had made the claims, which local press described as a “twisted pornographic fantasy,” in a three-page handwritten letter on notebook paper.
“Yes, I’ve killed before,” Hayes bragged. “I have 17 kills throughout the Northeast United States. Perfect victims and well-executed, controlled endeavors.”

The letter stated that Hayes was willing to provide details about “every victim, all 17, and where they can be found and the whole life story behind it.” He also claimed to have taken pleasure in forcing the victims to write goodbye letters to their loved ones in such a manner as to make their disappearances seem voluntary.
“With most, a second and third note would be written, by the girls themselves, and I would mail these weeks and months later. The notes would be detailed and disarming. This was key because while the girl would be gone within hours, the notes gave the appearance of what I wanted, a runaway or a girl who left her boyfriend, or a hooker drug addict who went to greener pastures,” Hayes said. “Easy pesy.”
In the letter, Hayes also criticized his partner in crime for not being “worthy” of him. “I’ve searched my whole life for someone who could embrace and had the capacity for evil as I possess,” Hayes said. “I thought I finally found it in Josh… But events show Josh, while (he) had the proper evil intent, lacked in the most serious aspects, commitment and control.”
“So yes,” Hayes wrote, “the Petit home invasion was a dry run in the partnership between Josh and myself. I do now realize that had we gotten away, I would have killed Josh. He was not even close to being worthy of my partnership.”
Hayes would later recant the claims, saying he fabricated them in an attempt to be killed more swiftly. Bizarrely, while already on death row, Hayes said he wrote about killing 17 other women because he wanted police to grant his request for soda, a pepperoni pizza, and oysters with hot sauce. Hayes has a lethal allergy to oysters and therefore the letter confessing to over a dozen murders, he said, was an elaborate rouse to commit suicide.
The death sentences doled out to Hayes and Komisarjevsky were vacated in August 2015, when the Connecticut Supreme Court ruled that the death penalty was unconstitutional and retroactively commuted all death sentences to life imprisonment.
While incarcerated at SCI Greene, a state prison in Pennsylvania, Hayes told Newsweek that he first became aware of transgenderism via an inmate named William Scott, who Hayes refers to as “Kim.” According to Hayes, Scott slipped information for a transgender support group into his cell in 2018.
Hayes told the outlet that the Cheshire murders would never have happened if he had “accepted” himself earlier.
“Every moment of that night haunts me because that is not who I am as a person… What happened goes against everything I believe and will haunt me forever. What makes it worse is knowing that I would never have been in that situation if I had accepted who I am sooner. I could have prevented years of pain I caused everyone if I had only accepted myself.”
In 2019, Hayes told listeners of a podcast hosted by Joe Tomaso that he had begun identifying as woman while in SCI Greene, and that he had been cited for contraband because he had a hand-fashioned bow in his hair and altered his prison gear to be more “feminine.” It was while he was at SCI Greene that Hayes changed his name, noting that he adopted the surname “Lee” in honor of a man he had been in a sexual relationship with at the facility.
“I did finally openly admit my personal truth that I am transgender and lived a life of severe gender dysphoria,” Hayes said. The inmate is currently proceeding in an ongoing lawsuit demanding $150,000 from the Pennsylvania Department of Corrections for having previously confiscated his “gender affirming” items. In 2023, he was transferred to Oregon State Penitentiary, which he described as being “amazing by comparison” to Pennsylvania.
However, Hayes’ repeat claims of “gender dysphoria” are somewhat contradicted by expert testimony that was given by forensic psychiatrist Dr. Eric Goldsmith for the defense team during Hayes’ trial. According to Goldsmith, Hayes was motivated by a sexual fetish, not by “gender dysphoria.”
Since the age of 16, Hayes had been in and out of prison for charges ranging from writing bad checks to petty larceny. From a young age, Hayes learned how to manipulate those around him. While being held at the Cheshire Correctional Institution at the age of 17, Hayes penned a letter to prison officials seeking to have his sentence reduced.

“I feel that in the three months I have been here at Cheshire I have learned that I cannot go around breaking the law and expect to get away with it. I know what I did was inexcusable, but I will promise anything that it will never happen again,” Hayes wrote. “You have probably heard promises before, so all I can ask is that you accept my promise as the truth.”
During Komisarjevky’s trial in 2011, his legal counsel said Hayes checked out 24 fictional books in prison the year before the home invasion. Komisarjevsky’s attorneys said the majority of the books, according to the Connecticut state Department of Corrections, “pertain to very violent murders to include strangulation, rape, arson, serial killing, satanic torture and the burning of victims. Most victims are women.”
Currently, the Wikipedia entry on the Cheshire murders lists Hayes under the name “Linda” and refers to him with feminine pronouns. The site’s “talk” page for the article, which provides guidelines for editors, advises that the article “should adhere to the gender identity guideline because it contains material about one or more trans women.”

“Precedence should be given to self-designation as reported in the most up-to-date reliable sources, anywhere in article space, even when it doesn’t match what’s most common in reliable sources,” read the Wikipedia recommendations. Any person whose gender might be questioned should be referred to by the pronouns, possessive adjectives, and gendered nouns that reflect that person’s latest expressed gender self-identification.”
The issue of referring to Hayes as though he were actually a woman named Linda is a contentious one, with disapproval being expressed by Wikipedia users and editors. “This is a rapist and a murderer, and he only started identifying as a woman decades after his crime, yet you call him ‘she’ when talking about the rape and murder. This is ridiculous and an insult to the victims,” one critic remarked.
“Groomers supporting rapists and murderers. I stopped financially supporting Wikipedia years ago. I don’t regret it,” replied another individual.
The details of the "Cheshire Murders" on July 23, 2007 shocked the country. The court heard how Hayes and his accomplice Joshua Komisarjevsky broke into the home and Jennifer was forced to go to a bank to withdraw $15,000 from her account. Afterwards, Hayes raped her and strangled her to death. Komisarjevsky raped 11 year-old Michaela. The pair took pictures of their attacks, with one photo showing Michaela bound, partly naked and with a pillow case over her face. Michaela and 17-year-old Hayley were tied to their beds as Hayes and his accomplice doused the house in gasoline and set it ablaze — leaving the children to die of smoke inhalation. The only survivor was William Petit Jr., who was tied up and beaten with a baseball bat.
The prosecutor described the attack as "evil" and "shockingly brutal" and they were initially sentenced to death. The sentences were later reduced to life without parole.
Hayes — now Linda Mai Lee after finalizing a name change this month — said her former anger had been fueled by the question of her gender identity. Now, 61, she said she finally felt comfortable living as a woman in the Oregon State Penitentiary. Komisarjevsky is now 44. Newsweek was unable to reach him for comment.
