SUMMARY: There’s a deadly stowaway on the prison transport freighter that literally no one is ready for.

THIS SHOW HAS EVERYTHING: Occupation-era experiments, blood spurts, sub-par meals, cargo ships, superpowers, mistaken identities, police negligence, manicures, gratuitous tattoos, fake metal grills, signal jamming, and corporate greed.

HOT TAKE: Looking back on the opening credits and counting how many film festival awards this movie received, all I can surmise is that everyone just went gaga over the amount of blood this film was willing to deal with. Like it's A LOT of blood. Spurting everywhere. Against science, medicine, and all that we know about Earthly gravity.

Be careful who you pick as your favorite character because there are like 30 of them and 99% of them will not last past the second act.

Sweet Home’un final sezonu nihayet geldi ve bizleri hem duygusal hem de psikolojik olarak darmadağın etti. Üç sezondur içine çekildiğimiz karanlık, umutsuz ve hayatta kalma mücadelesiyle dolu bu evrende artık her şeyin sonuna geldik. Hikaye, canavarlaşma virüsünün tüm dünyayı sardığı bir dönemde, karantinaya alınmış alanlar, devletin müdahale edemediği bölgeler ve hayatta kalmak için birer savaşçıya dönüşen karakterlerle devam ediyor. Bu sezonda özellikle Hyun-su’nun (Song Kang) yaşadığı içsel çatışmalar daha da derinleşiyor ve karakterin hem geçmişiyle hem de içindeki canavarla yüzleşmesini izliyoruz. Zaten Sweet Home’u klasik bir zombi ya da canavar hikayesinden ayıran da bu yönü: Her karakterin içinde bir canavar var ve bu canavar sadece dışarıdan gelen bir tehdit değil, tam anlamıyla kişinin kendi arzularının, bastırılmış hislerinin bir yansıması.

Bu sezonun temposu önceki sezonlara göre biraz daha farklı ilerliyor. İlk bölümler biraz daha durağan ve karakter gelişimlerine odaklı ama sonlara doğru tempo öyle bir artıyor ki, final bölümü nefes bile aldırmıyor. Özellikle Eun-yu (Go Min-si) ve Yi-kyung (Lee Si-young) karakterleri bu sezonda çok daha güçlü bir şekilde öne çıkıyor. Özellikle Yi-kyung’un hikayesi beni çok etkiledi çünkü bir yandan kaybettiklerinin yasını tutarken, bir yandan da hayatta kalma içgüdüsüyle hareket etmek zorunda. Go Min-si’nin oyunculuğu zaten etkileyiciydi ama bu sezonda daha bir olgun, daha bir “ben buradayım” havası vardı.

Song Kang’ın performansına da ayrıca değinmek gerek. Hyun-su karakteri ilk sezonda içine kapanık, kırılgan ve neredeyse silik bir gençti. Ama şimdi geldiği noktada, bir kahraman mı yoksa bir tehdit mi olduğunu çözmek izleyiciye kalıyor. Song Kang, bu ikilemi o kadar başarılı bir şekilde yansıtıyor ki, bazen onunla empati kurarken bazen de ondan korkuyorsun. Ayrıca dizinin genel atmosferi, ışık kullanımı, karanlık tonlamalar ve CGI efektleri bu sezonda da oldukça başarılıydı. Canavar tasarımları her zamanki gibi rahatsız edici derecede gerçekçiydi. Bu arada ilginç bir detay: Dizideki bazı canavar tasarımlarının ilhamı gerçek hastalıklardan ve psikolojik bozukluklardan alınmış. Yani karakterlerin canavara dönüşüm şekilleri aslında onların bastırılmış travmalarına veya arzularına göre şekillenmiş. Bu da diziyi sadece bir aksiyon ya da korku dizisi olmaktan çıkarıyor, adeta bir psikolojik çözümleme hâline getiriyor.

Dizinin finali ise yorumlarında tartışma konusu. Bazıları fazla açık uçlu bulmuş, bazıları ise hikayenin gerçekçiliğine uygun bir kapanış olduğunu düşünüyor. Ben ise finalin tam da olması gerektiği gibi olduğunu düşünenlerdenim. Çünkü bu dünyada her şey net değil, hiçbir karakter tamamen iyi ya da kötü değil ve bazen bir son, gerçekten “son” gibi hissettirmek zorunda değil. Bu arada dizinin çekim sürecinde oyuncuların pek çok aksiyon sahnesini dublör kullanmadan çektikleri de biliniyor. Lee Si-young’un özellikle dövüş sahnelerinde gerçekten yoğun bir antrenman süreci geçirdiği ve bazı sahneleri kendi çektiği açıklanmıştı. Zaten izlerken bunu çok net hissediyorsun; o sahnelerdeki gerçekçilik seni anında içine çekiyor.

Sweet Home final sezonu, sadece bir korku dizisi değil; insan olmanın, arzularla baş etmenin ve hayatta kalmak için nelerden vazgeçilebileceğinin çok çarpıcı bir portresiydi. Eğer ilk sezonları izleyip biraz kopmuşsan bile bu son sezon için kesinlikle geri dönmelisin. Çünkü bu hikaye, bir kapanışı fazlasıyla hak ediyordu.

Today's Webtoon

For someone that likes to read webtoons, this series was so nice to watch. It gives us a window to how webtoon creation and publication works. I like the characters: artists and the PDs. Their stories ranged from sweet to sad, but it was great to see the all reached their own happiness. Even though this series is not a romantic drama, it did have its romantic touches that made it sweeter. It leaves this subplot in the opening as they accomplish their dream as a team and move on to the next collective dream. I wonder what will happen with Oh Ma Eum's relationship with Seok Ji Hyung and Jun Yeong. But even though it leaves that question open, it doesn't leave me disappointed or wanting to know what happens. I think that it just reminds us that life continues even after one chapter of our lives ends and things will happen at their own sweet time, there is no need to force things.

Work drama that will keep you smiling and cheering for the characters. Really loved it.

SHADOW BLOODHOUNDS

> led by Sung Il-hwan, the Alpha.

> werewolves with black fur are rare, so it's no surprise that Sung Il-hwan soon became the leader of the pack.

> the name "Shadow Bloodhounds" was originated from a family of werewolves, who had dark reddish-brown fur, and the shadow term came from how the members frequently lurked in the shadows for surprise attacks. And since Sung Il-hwan became the Alpha, plus his wolf form being a black wolf, the name became stronger and prominent.

> Sung Il-hwan's son, Sung Jin-woo, is the Beta. Like his father, his wolf form also has a black fur. This became a big shock to the entire pack, especially when they saw their Alpha's son transform for the first time.

> before becoming the Beta when he reached 20, Sung Jin-woo had to fight the former Beta — as per tradition among all wolf packs. Despite being the "weakest" due to his birth, Jin-woo managed to win by sheer determination and since he became his father's second-in-command, he became stronger overtime.

— it is believed that Rakan, a beast entity who can turn into a human, had started the race by cursing several humans to continue his legacy and increase population.

— there are werewolves called 'Rogues' — it's when a werewolf is banished from their pack.

— there are certain outfits/fabrics that don't get ripped apart when shifting, rather they just disappear in the process.

— during the wolf cycle, all packs run to the mountains for camping — some build their own little houses deep in the woods, far from the human civilization. It is a coincidence if they stumble upon other packs.
