"Strange" films are so important to me. I like finding beauty and symbolism where others find ugliness and depravity. I guess I identify with those aspects of horror.

Sex is used as a metaphor in a lot of media. I may not be the most experienced person but I find it incredibly interesting to discover different relationship dynamics and how that can help people find comfort and connection.

Spaders character uses car crashes and sex as a form of SH instead of dealing with his trauma the "typical" way through therapy. I think a lot of people can relate to some of these aspects of his character maybe in a less extreme way. Using sex as a form of sh is something that happens way more often than people seem to think it does. I've seen a few cases in my life to provide a little personal context as to why I care about this topic.

I see this film as almost the definition of the quote "Art should comfort the disturbed and disturb the comfortable."
