htbd update…why was adrian like “idk why i’m so worried abt commoner stuff” bro

(I'm a little behind, this references s2e66) He has a lot to unlearn, and he seems to be unlearning it, but that takes time and does mean there will be rough patches and insensitive moments. So like, I'm proud of him and want him to continue, but he absolutely has mistakes to apologize for along the way.

He seems to just want everything to be over and done with, and while that would be nice...it doesn't work like that, bud. You've gotta face it head on and work through it, and you need to let everyone else work through it, too. Even if it takes them longer than you. Even if they don't forgive you.

I was gonna say this in the tags but actually I'm gonna just tack it on: I find it interesting that on some level he is aware of his skewed perspective. he comments that noticing and being bothered by sharing a bathroom with others is so inane and ridiculous considering he's just had his humanity forcibly stripped away and betrayed the people closest to him. and yet, as mundane as it is, it still chafes. there's an awareness, but not enough (yet) to overwrite his preconceived notions and experiences. something to work on
