Just Dazai trying to build a harem of Sigma Chuuya and Kunikida but it fails so horribly that Sigma Kunikida and Chuuya form a throuple afterwards because they bonded so well dealing with Dazai's shenanigans.

Drawing feels weird lately, and it still feels that way now. But I can't help but keep going back to it. Especially when I see something fun. These are just colored sketches like before because I don't want to look more than I have to at whatever I'm 'drawing'.

I used red for Fyodor's dress because I'm running out of black ink. I couldn't find a soft green so I made Kunikida blond. Dazai has no coat and shoes on because she's a scummy co-worker that threw them somewhere. I tried to keep the mostly white and grey palette for Sasaki.

Here's where I'm going to talk nonsense okay? Shoo if anything or anyone other than the void is seeing this!

So basically, I know I shouldn't think about this au too deeply, but too late, I already did! What I'm about to talk about next are mostly just nonsense from me okay? Not canon to the lore of the au. Okay? Okay.

This au is set in the Taisho era and the Taisho era was an era where higher education was elitist and notably harder for women to get. This makes Kunikida an exception to have graduated in Japan and then go to Europe.

So in my sick twisted head, Kunikida had the reputation of being a promising student and she had this complicated, vague, and intense homo-romantic friendship with mysterious and slightly off-putting Sasaki, a worker of some kind that was rumoured to be a vampire for how weird she seemed.

They had moments and there were feelings there but neither of them acted on it or said anything because they always knew that their paths would be too different. They never had hope in whatever they had. (why do I like making myself suffer) Sasaki saw Kunikida off to the train, waved until she couldn't see the train anymore, and looked up at the sky. They never meet again. (unless.)

Then Kunikida meets her partner Dazai when she arrives at Europe. Kunikida thinks they're paired up because they're both Japanese but weirdly enough, there's more than a few Japanese people already there. She reasonably assumes that it was probably because of the similarity in ages then.

Dazai gets on her nerves, riles her up, pops her down. She tries to convince Kunikida to believe in the ever-changing backstories she waxes on about ever since she asked about her circumstances. In one backstory, she was a maiko training to be a lead oiran in a brothel. In another, she was a poet writing under a male alias. The reason why Kunikida keeps falling for it is because Dazai has lots of knowledge about the things she's saying and unfortunately has the talent to pull off anything. Despite all the banter though, she knows there's something more with her infuriating partner that she doesn't know of yet.

Fyodor appears and makes Kunikida's already stressful life even more stressful. A vampire? Kunikida can handle that. But a vampire that tests her ideals repeatedly and seems to target her specifically? Harder to deal with compared to the ones before. Especially when she notices that Fyodor and Dazai seem to know each other, but Dazai won't cough up any decent explanation.

Then stuff happens. And more stuff happens.

Basically, Kunikida is in a thriller supernatural drama but she has a harem. But none of her love interests are stable and no one is being fixed.

Whew, done. I think I'm a little more normal now that I got that off my chest.

Ya'll know how Dazai has his little harem of partners, having different ways to get on their nerves like no one else can.

Dazai annoys Sigma in a pretty basic way; Dazai is just unserious in dire situations. Sigma, as long as he's know Fyodor, has been scared and intimidated by him. So when Dazai is over here dancing around and not taking his 30 minutes seriously, he gets pissed off. Sigma already thinks highly of Fyodor, (at least in his intellect) so the easiest way to piss him off is not taking this life or death situation seriously.

Kunikida is very uptight and strict about his schedules, he can mostly ignore most of what Dazai does but when he messes up his routine or takes up space in his notebook, he losses it.

These characters that I've mentioned aren't necessarily prone to anger or hot-headed, but Dazai gets intricate about how he annoys them. This isn't the case with Chuuya. With Chuuya, Dazai usually insults him, like straight up insults him. There's no technique or tic for Chuuya. Dazai calls him names, insults his fashion and techniques, all weirdly childish for such a specific, smart guy. :3

there are so many other characters you can say are his soulmates?? let me list them.

fyodor. he is the only other character in the show who understands dazai completely, they quite literally finish each other’s sentences half the time.

sigma. they would be the softest couple ever. he would teach dazai to give more of a shit about himself and dazai would actually be able to give sigma a home in the ada

kunikida. sure, dazai pisses him off, but it’s a very playful type of thing. kunikida would teach dazai to be less analytic, to listen to his emotions more, and dazai would (not in the best way but still) teach kunikida to work through his anger issues

if i wasn’t currently in public transportation i would be able to list more but point is

chuuya and dazai are the most popular ship mainly because they have a backstory together. if you discard that, or headcanon a past for him with, EVERYONE could be his soulmate
