Magazine on environment sustainability
Regeneration and reuse of urban landscapes, the creative reuse of what is old and what seems to have outlived its utility is something we ought to cherish because it is often very sustainable. Such creative reuse also serves the purpose of exposing layers of history, making our cities more meaningful and strengthening their identities.
The goal of sustainability seems to be like a mirage that moves away every time we step towards it. The only way forward is to try harder than ever before to work towards attaining environmental, social and economic sustainability for all. The stakes for not trying to achieve this will be very high indeed.
My Liveable City is a 10 year old knowledge platform which offers best inline global case studies, opinions by industry experts and thought leaders and on Environment & Sustainability, Landscape Architecture, Sustainable Architecture, Inclusive Cities, Affordable Housing, etc, to read our articles please visit www.myliveablecity.com

When cities plan to mitigate extreme heat, many draw from a familiar playbook: more trees, more reflective surfaces, and more air conditioning. City officials in Toronto are exploring a different strategy: Changing the orientation, massing and materials of new developments to improve outdoor thermal comfort.
Despite the dire warnings of future heat, the officials I spoke to remain stuck in the past — reluctant to approve buildings that improve summer comfort, if they worsen it in winter. "We're not in a winter shadow emergency," scoffed a planning expert. "We're in a climate emergency." I wrote about the project for the May 2024 issue of Landscape Architecture Magazine.

MAGAZINE ON PUBLIC SPACE
Our impressions of a city are formed mainly by the quality of public spaces. If they are not pleasant and preserved, or if they transmit a sense of insecurity, we will seldom return. Good planning of these spaces should be the rule, not the exception. Among city buildings, there is a network of spaces that create and strengthen connections at different levels of influence. In a book, they would be between the lines: the implicit meaning between concrete. Public spaces, which fill the urban gaps with life, are directly associated with the construction of what we call a city and influence the relationships that are created within them. As a magazine on public spaces, MyLiveableCity provides readers with exclusive insights, thought-provoking analysis, and inspiring case studies from around the world. From bustling city squares to serene parks, from vibrant marketplaces to tranquil waterfronts, MyLiveableCity’s magazine on public spaces delves into the diverse array of public spaces that define our urban landscapes.
Public spaces serve as the connective tissue of a city, fostering social interactions and shaping its identity. They are vital for community cohesion, political engagement, and promoting a sense of belonging. Additionally, spaces like cafes and bookstores play similar roles in facilitating interactions and enhancing the urban environment. Public areas shape community ties in neighborhoods. They are places of encounter and can facilitate political mobilization, stimulate actions and help prevent crime. They are environments for interaction and exchange of ideas that impact the quality of the urban environment. While not considered “public spaces,” cafes, bookstores and bars have similar impacts. Public spaces also present health benefits, both physical and mental: people feel better and tend to be more active in attractive, public spaces.
Discover the heartbeat of urban life through articles, interviews, and expert commentary, featured in MyLiveableCity’s magazine on public space. This magazine on Public space is your guide to understanding the critical role that public spaces play in shaping our cities and communities. Whether you're interested in urban design, placemaking, community engagement, or social inclusion, MyLiveableCity’s magazine on public space covers a wide range of topics relevant to understanding and enhancing public spaces.
