"Checkmate" - The Queen's Gambit!Jearmin AU

Inspired by the series "The Queens Gambit", Armin is set to become the next National Chess Champion, but he has to learn how to beat the current National Chess Champion from France, Jean Kirstein first. What starts as a rivalry fairly quickly changes into something romantic.

My RP-partner-in-crime and I hereby want to present to all Jearmin-lovers out there this RP-based fanfic my friend and I created (many kudos to my friend for turning it into an actual fanfic for y'all to enjoy!! <333)!!

We planned for this story to be short and sweet, to see if we had writing chemistry, and sure enough we did! Soon after starting this Role-Play it spiraled into an elaborate story, and we decided to turn it into a fanfic for Jearmin fans to enjoy.

We sincerely hope that we can do this incredible pairing justice, and bring tons of joy to fans of the Jearmin / Seahorse ship. At this time, this story is set to be a LONG one, and we have around 5 chapters currently written.

When the tears finally ran out, Henry was angry.

He didn’t think he’d ever been so angry.

He didn’t know he could be so angry.

He was drawn taught like a bow string, body flush with potential energy that needed to find somewhere to go. His muscles were stiff, struggling to move towards anything that wasn’t revenge.

He hardly slept, he ate barely to keep his strength up enough that he could lift his sword, and he practiced, swinging his sword late into the night, until his blistered hands were so worn and cracked that blood stained the leather on the hilt of his blade.

It wasn’t enough.

Dazai flinched away from the hands grabbing at him. He wanted to scream and begged them just to stop, but there were no words left in him. All that happened was the silent tears streaming down his cheeks as he pressed himself closer to the wall.

“Dazai?” Chuuya’s voice was loud in the quiet room as he walked closer. The younger teen looked up; his eyes blank as he just stared at Chuuya. His hand was firmly pressed against his shoulder.

“What happened?” Chuuya softened his voice slightly as he crouched down next to Dazai. Immediately Dazai flinched again.

His voice broke when he finally spoke. “Please no more. I will be good, I promise.” He leaned back, sweat dripping down his face. The pain was almost too much, and all Dazai wanted to do was let darkness claim him.

Chuuya felt frozen, unsure of what to make of this. He forced himself to take a deep breath. “Alright, let’s get you cleaned up. I can stitch the wound for you. Then you can sleep.” He hoped that there were enough pain meds at his house. Everyone knew how much Dazai hated to be in pain.

He had a feeling that someone hurt the stupid mackerel and with the combination of pain, he wasn’t quite in his right mind.

Chuuya ignored the why Dazai clawed at his chest, trying to get away, before he stilled, too exhausted to continue. Tears soaked into his shirt as he made his way to the house. He hummed slightly under his breath, hoping that it would give Dazai some comfort.

The keys rattling pulled Dazai from his thoughts, he forced his eyes open as he clung to Chuuya. A part of him wanted to soak in the comfort while another part wanted to run for the hills. He didn’t deserve this.

Still, Chuuya held him close. Whispering soothing words as he was placed on the toilet seat. He watched with half-lid eyes as Chuuya started to prepare the bath. Soon enough the bathroom was steam up.

Dazai wanted to fight when Chuuya undressed him, instead, all he did was look at the floor, he couldn’t bring himself to look into the worried blue eyes.

The warm water almost immediately soothed the sore muscles, Dazai grimaced slightly as Chuuya started to clean the wound. It took everything in him not to pull away, to just sit still and handle the pain.

“I am almost done, Osamu.” Chuuya was deep in thought, he knew a gunshot wound when he saw one. He knew that Dazai had a mission that night, but it wouldn’t explain why he was injured as far as he heard the mission went well.

When he started to stitch up the wound, Dazai desperately grabbed at his arm, trying to pull his hand away. “Hush, we are almost done.” He whispered as he focused, ignoring the trembling hand on his wrist.

It was clear that the pain medication wasn’t doing a good job. Still, they needed to get him fixed up, otherwise there would just be a change of infection.

After 15 minutes he pulled back, Dazai slumped forward, his breathing laboured. Chuuya put the first aid kit to the side, as he pulled him from the bath, drying him off.

With ease he picked Dazai up, moving them to the bedroom, where he got some fresh clothes from the clothes, he dressed him before he tucked him into the bed. He gently ran his fingers through the wet hair.

Promising himself that he would look after him, make sure that whatever happened it wouldn’t happen again. A silent promise as he watched Dazai sleep.
