insane op shop luck today. not ONLY did I find a pair of comfy pants that fit and I can wear to work (first pair in a literal decade), not ONLY did I find a suitable bag for taking to work with sufficient but not excessive space for the things I need in it, but I ALSO found one of those vintage fold down desks I've been looking for that - get this - is EXACTLY to the millimetre the same height as the space under the window I wanted to put it

#in fairness I did spend 5 years of that decade not really looking for pants #but however. i have been keeping an eye out for pants i can wear to work and this was a surprise #maybe not really my style but frankly pants aren't really my style i just want something easy. i have 2 work dresses and i work 2 days #a week - i just need one third outfit to rotate so i look like i own a range of clothes and no one will notice it's only three outfits #the desk is such a win though! i can keep all my study stuff in one place and i can shut it AWAY when i am not studying!#it has space for laptop/pens/exercise books but ALSO a bookshelf underneath to solve my 'i have ten books out from the uni library' problem #rowena adventures

I get not wanting to be in spaces that are heavily male. But I think we do a disservice to women to not equip them with the confidence to handle those spaces (not saying this is true of you, but u know a lot of girls who don’t do things they want to bc men, and I don’t think that’s healthy either.

I think it also is a way of not holding men responsible but instead treating them as a group

there's a difference between feeling more comfortable in a specific space and, i don't know, denying who you really are (like dressing a certain way or acting a certain way) because of what men will think? i think equating those two things is very damaging!

and individuals can't hold entire groups or classes accountable? especially by (to use my own example) simply using a library service. i'm not sure what you mean by that.

#also not like it matters but i do use my male-dominated library for most library services like printing or checking out books #but if i am going to sit and study/work/write with my laptop i go somewhere else

!! today bad !! woke up to a sleep paralysis and it just kept going downhill from there; tried to update my laptop’s software and it got stuck, so now that’s the 2nd laptop that has stopped working for me this week. Literally fuck this week, I’m so done ughhh. How is that even like possible

Really truly the problem with internet addiction is that I need it for all kinds of shit. I can't just quit it like I could smoking or drinking and not have alcohol or cigarettes in my house ever*, I need my phone. I need the internet. So I have my phone and need to actively fight not to grab it all the time.

Even worse when I do need to use it to look smth up, sure I can use extensions and stuff to block tumblr and twitter and youtube but sadly the internet (or even just my phone/laptop) is so full of distractions, I can't eliminate them all - like just now I wanted to look at a picture I'd taken of an info I needed but my pictures are also full of recordings of my cheerleading team so I got distracted looking at our past stunt successes and fuckups.

(*disclaimer since this is the piss on the poor site, I'm not saying internet addiction is worse or harder than alcohol or nicotine addiction, just pointing out this one difference. It might be more difficult in this one aspect, obviously there are a lot of aspects in which alcohol and nicotine are much worse (like them actually being physically addictive substances))
