Quote
He’s a man who wants human contact; the need for love seems to overflow from him. Yet he can’t afford emotional involvement, he can’t fall in love or marry or have children, because that would prevent him functioning in a world where the possibility of his death is ever-present... Above all, I realized that he hates to kill. He recalls that when he was young, he thought it was all in the cause of righteousness, but now he perceives his assassinations as dirty murders. He kills himself by killing someone who’s himself on the other side. Yet he carries on, always regretting it, always trying to shut it out of his mind. Altogether, it seemed to me that Bond was a complex man, with many more facets than I’d realized. Not a shining knight, but someone deeply unhappy with his job, suffering from confusion, ennui, moral revulsion and what Fleming calls accidie.

The grand James Bond movies rewatch in a very random order with a possible skipping Roger Moore movies cause I don't like his 007 that much
With this movie we're done with Timothy. Licence to kill this time!
So when it comes to Timothy Dalton, first movie I recognized because of that cello girl but nothing else. Licence to kill in my memory was more vague but when it came to the actual movie, it was clearer and I remembered the plot and the characters more or less.
The song is okay. After a day, a week, a month, you remember that title line and the general vibe so it's a plus. It has that category like Skyfall or Goldfinger when you see a title and know the tune. But tbh nothing more. The song is the title to me and it just places here somewhere in the mediocre middle.
My general opinion: wow, this movie is brutal. And don't get me wrong, it's not that I'm scared of things, I've obsessively watched Bones. But it had those "ugly" moments that are parts of the plot that set the mood. And we have bad gang boss whipping his girl, Felix getting his just-married wife kilked and then getting his leg eaten by shark. Yes, I'm a sucker for those themes "I wish everyone well, I just want my characters to be happy" and yes, it's a Bond movie so I know it doesn't happen so I'm not expecting it but at the same time... Dude, chill.
Yes, Timothy Dalton is once again terribly serious.
Next thing, characters. Not sure how to gently put it but Bond Girls weren't the strongest part of this movie. First one, with difficult past of course fell in love with James straight away. She also got over him as quickly and her character's arc basically got ignored. The second one was less of a lost cause since she was actually a feisty and resourceful one. Buy instead of becoming that for real, they turned her into "he doesn't love me" mushy person running out of the party. Not that I'm surprised but summing up, her character turned out to be irritating in the end.
The movie had also a bunch of good sides: the plot was quite clear and logical. It had good action scenes (first one - opening action sequence). The bad guy - well played, with "realistic" (on a Bond scale) creation. Once again, too serious to me, but I see the value of the vengeance here. Also, it had young Benicio. I wasn't aware of that before and now well, you see for yourself.
Not great, not terrible.

I’m rewatching 2x01 in prep for the finale and noticed a bunch of stuff (some questions I still have, or things that only appear now after everything)
Why was Adam last seen by friends and family in Texas? Especially as his licence is New Jersey anyway suggesting he’s been there for some time?
I had completely forgot about Shauna and Jeff in Adam’s art studio
It still amuses me that it took 8 episodes for us to return to Misty killing Jessica Roberts
At least Taissa does actually say she hasn’t taken office up yet, this kind of explains why she has so much free time at the moment
I kind of want a whole chore chart by card
The police know that Shauna was with Adam, so the fact that in his art studio, there’s tonnes of paintings of a woman with the face scrubbed off with be very suspicious
Did Misty really not care about musicals before Crystal
You know, if I had to ask the show runners one question, it wouldn’t be about he mythos or the antler queen, but instead about Nat’s hair
I would love to know how the conversation in the cult went of Lottie telling her people to kidnap Natalie as it seems like this is a one off
Wait the Jeff car scene was episode 1?
Love how Taissa had mentally divorced Simone as early as season 1, calling the smelling the jumper as some ‘sad ass divorce shit’
Callie wearing a blue and white striped jumper when that pattern is something I really relate to Jackie
How on Earth was Lisa’s hand not more injured
I love Tai and Van so much and their inevitable explosion with wreck me (this was said at the time, but is still very true).
I wonder if Van’s thoughts of Other Taissa not being Tai but just something that happens to her is still what she thinks? (I can’t remember if we ever get an update to this)
(There’s also just something about Can leaning back with a smile after writing on Tai, arms behind their head)
And not only do Van and Taissa mock others, they also mock each other, so it’s fair
And it still amuses me how little we talk about the naked guy being buried in the woods by the cult
Is the tree that Nat and Travis find at the very end the one Ben finds that Javi had been in?

#BondConfessions: M vs. C
I think I’ve mentioned it before how much I enjoy the scenes between M and C every time I watch Spectre. Those parts of the film capture the essence of their conflict perfectly. M, as an older (and wiser!) man, symbolizes experience and a voice of reason (this is exactly how I see the literary M), and C looks more like an ambitious, but careless fanatical person.
I like this depiction even more as I value experience above youth.
Recently, while rewatching Spectre, I realized sometthing I’ve never paid much attention to before. Remember that scene when M and C talk in C’s office about the double-0 programme? This conversation echoes later in the film.
C: Double-0 programme is prehistoric. Come on M, you can’t really tell me that one man in the field can compete with all of this, running around with his licence to kill. M: Have you ever had to kill a man, Max? Have you? To pull that trigger you have to be sure. Yes, you investigate, analyse, assess, target... and then you have to look him in the eye. And you make the call. And all the drones, bugs, cameras, transcripts, all the surveillance in the world can’t tell you what to do next. A licence to kill is also a licence not to kill.
(and then C plays the tape with the conversation Bond and Moneypenny had on the phone about Mr. White)
Later in the film M comes to C’s office to bring him in (and of course, to let Q stop the system from going online). And this is when the fun begins! First of all, I adore how this scene resembles the beginning of Casino Royale when Bond talks to Dryden (to me, it is just perfect: the darkness, the music, the acting...)
C: Take a look at the world... Chaos... Because people like you, paper-pushers and politicians are too spineless to do what needs to be done, so I made an alliance to put the power where it should be, and now you want to throw it away... for the sake of democracy. Whatever the hell that is. How predictably moronic. [points the gun at M] But then isn’t that what ‘M’ stands for? ‘Moron’. [pulls the trigger, but the gun is not loaded] M: And now we know what ‘C’ stands for... [shows C the bullets from his empty gun] ‘careless’.
(Oh my, I remember that tension in the cinema when we all waited to hear what word would M use to describe C! XD)
So, Q sucessfully stops the system (is there a thing this extremely talented man can’t do?) and M, with a gun in his hands, instructs C to leave the building. But C must provoke M just one more time (You’re a cockly little bastard, aren’t you?)
C: Why can’t you just face it, M? You don’t matter anymore. M: Maybe I don’t. But something has to.
M gets distracted by Blofeld’s helicopter, C uses this to his advantage and the fight between M and C starts. The gun fires twice, breaking the glass railing and the glass ceiling. For a few seconds you can observe the faces of M and C who look at each other (... and then you have to look him in the eye. And you make the call). Finally, when the glass from the ceiling falls on them, M looks at Denbigh once again just before the latter falls to his demise.
I’ve always thought that if M really wanted to do this, he could have saved C and, as a result, bring him in later, alive. Yes, it all happens pretty fast, but I believe there is a split second when M can try to catch C. But he doesn’t do this, he just stares at C, both scared and convinced, because he made the call. Even though the moment was kind of horrific, deep inside he was sure.
Or at least this is how I see this.
And also, I have to confess that these are my two favourite roles from Spectre.

Questions
(Or opinions or theories or head canons or me over analyzing things or me asking a question I already know the anwser to)
1. Why didn't they animate Jyugo with rainbow eyes?
In the anime, Jyugo doesn't have rainbow eyes. He has one eye green and one eye reddish-purplish-pink.
Proof
They didnt give him rainbow eyes! I don't know why they would totally anilolate an important part of Jyugo's character design but ok.
2. What is VI's (Six) ability? (And how did he kill someone with a water gun.)
When I first got to the part where VI was introduced, I was kinda like
This guy has elf's abilities or something
But after some analysis, I think that his ability is his salvia. Which is kinda gross, but ok. Like if he gets his salvia on you, your head explodes. But I think he can control if your head explodes...
That would also explain why he is constantly chewing gum, since when you chew gum it activates your saliva glads or something. I dont know.
Now onto the water gun thing, (which I think is really cool.)
Kinda gorey though so it will be under the more thing
So he spits on the water gun,
Then he shoots the Men in Black with it
And they either become a zombie or their head explodes.
That's whack, moving on.
3. What's Kiji's age?
Once again I am over anilizing something
Kiji taught Shin sometime in the past. The way Shin acts about it, is like when your mom decides to show your friends your baby pictures. He was embarrassed, so embarrassed that he hid behind Dread, and cryed in fear. So we can assume that this indecent happened when Shin was very young, or young enough that he would feel embarrassed to talk about it in front of Mitsuru.
Shin is 29. So since we have the above knowledge, Kiji is older than that. Since Kiji would have to be old enough to have a teaching licence, and or if that isn't how Nanba works, Kiji would have to be a person with a high standing, which would take time.
Kiji also has been a supervisor for a long time,

Since 2 bands on a Nanba uniform mean that you are a supervisor. And the chapter this was from, was in the past, more specificly from when Enki was a supervisor.
So at this time, i think that Kiji was 30.
So i think Kiji is now 40.
He is an old bird.
4. Hitoshi is Transitioning as we speak.
That is not a question.
I say this because in the "extra school timey drama fest recap special edition episode extra" this happens
(Special thanks to @lothcatrun for putting this in the discord so I didn't have to rewatch the entire episode again to find it)
The people in the back, maybe saying,
Maybe he has some other problem that requires a surgery?
That isnt wrong, but why would Hajime be saving up for it? Wouldn't Hitoshi's parents or insurance cover the surgery?
The people in the corner could be saying,
Why wouldn't Sho just say that Hitoshi is Trans?
Well, as many of you know, being trans/queer isnt really internationally supported. But if It was out out there one of two things could happen
1. She would get more people interested in the manga/anime since people like representation in media
Or
2. Sho could loose the fanbase she has, because transphobes exist.
I classify this situation as a "If you get it then you get it, or if you don't get it then you don't."
If you don't get it, cool, you do you. But if you do get it, then you can sit at the cool kids table just because you get it.

I rewatched the s9 finale of svu and it made so sad for Casey. Like it starts off with her being basically headhunted for private practice and ends with her basically being fired and having her career and reputation ruined ☹️ like it really dawned on me today how big of a turning point that moment is for her character.
LORD. I rewatched it this morning & then watched the scene with Liz twice more. It’s an INCREDIBLE episode to watch how talented Diane is.
It’s the little looks in her eyes, rhe way they narrow or widen, the little lil twitches/bites, the way that she just KNOWS she’s digging her own grave with this case & each time something fucks up she can feel herself slipping even deeper into it.
The scene in Liz’s office is just fucking heartbreaking, Liz doesn’t raise her voice, she’s trying to salvage whatever relationship they have left (platonic or more, you choose tbh). She only stands/raises her voice after casey does. It’s killing her to do it as much as it’s killing casey. She doesnt want to, but knows she cant give special treatment, and she holds casey to a higher standard (remember, this is the girl who liz has STEPPED DOWN FROM THE BENCH TWICE to defend in other instances). Like, she would do anything for casey, casey needs the guidance/reassurance, when casey says (about the perp) “he needed to pay” and liz’s reply is “and so do you” she can’t even look at casey while she’s speaking. And when she does look up there’s a little shimmer of tears in her eyes. AND THEN casey doesnt even actually say goodbye to her, after 5yrs of liz overseeing her/mentoring her/being her friend & whatever else, she simply says “i have to go…”
S9 REALLY fucked a lot of people with their finale. Like casey: loses her case, her postion at the da’s office, and her licence. Fin: asks for a transfer cause he cant stand working with elliot anymore (and he looses another partner). The vic/witness: gets picked up by ice & either deported or sent to a detention center. Liz: has to penalize one her of her top/most favourite ada’s, and looses a friend/lover in the crossfire. And Chester; murders the perp & sacrifices his career & the rest of his life to go to prison.
And when she comes back?? She has this major “i dont give a fuck” attitude, like, she wasnt around much & definitely wasnt worried about keeping the job. I lowkey think she’s alex’s other half working the “disappearing” dv vics out there cause fuck the law, right?

GoldenEye, plot holes, and movie logic - part 1 of 3
Most James Bond fans or even casual viewers seem to like 1995‘s GoldenEye. For me, it was one of the first James Bond films I’ve seen, having gotten DVD’s of GoldenEye and Tomorrow Never Dies not long after seeing Casino Royale in a cinema and renting a DVD of The Man with the Golden Gun from a DVD rental shop afterwards (don’t ask me why that one; also, pardon the dated technology). Only later I got to watch the series as a whole and could judge the movies not just on their own, but also as part of an over forty – now almost sixty – year old legacy. GoldenEye still remains one of those I know the best, since I own the aforementioned DVD’s.
Fom the production history, the James Bond brand was resurrected after an unprecedented 6-year hiatus after the undeserved commercial failure of Licence to Kill. (EDIT: And, more importantly, a legal battle, which delayed Timothy Dalton's return. When the problems were resolved, he only wanted to do only one more, but he was faced with a choice of three movies or none. He chose the latter.) The hype was real – new Bond, new director, new decade, new political landscape – and it got fully satisfied for many.
Not for me.
I admit, I’ve always been a sucker for the more „realistic“ takes on the spy genre (Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy comes to mind) and realistic movies in general, but James Bond has never been a proper spy, not even in the books. That said, I like adventure thrill rides too – but not to the point of Roger-Moore-ridicoulous. And here lies the problem. While I can definitely enjoy the spectacle and all those wonderful (masterfully shot) set pieces, I am constantly being thrown out of the story when I can’t suspend my disbelief. It’s not the only Bond movie to do that to me, Goldfinger comes to mind, but that's a different kettle of fish and I may talk about it in a different post. Due to man's herd mentality, I felt wrong when I read constant praise on this film everywhere and nothing to confirm my feelings. How can a majority be wrong, right? (This sentence is only half sarcastic). So I decided to give it another chance. I'm not going to describe the whole of the film, that would make this long post into a novel. I'm just going to point out the good, the bad, and other interesting things that occured to me when rewatching this feature and also split that into three parts. So, in the words of Jeremy Clarkson, here we go:
Act I - Archangelsk The film starts very strong, with a gripping sequence of a mysterious man running on a dam and jumping down its side on a bungee rope. Nothing wrong here, I've loved that opening, especially when we're greeted by Éric Serra's bold soundtrack right from the gunbarrel sequence. Then comes a minor let-down, when Bond is cutting through a roof with a laser. I'm not a fan of unrealistic gadgets and the dart-winch gun with a cutting laser simply doesn't cut it for me. Especially when you can see that the beam doesn't line up with the cutting line, because the roof is actually being cut from the inside.
Bond playfully dispatches a defecating soldier and proceeds to pose his way through the corridors. Yes, I don't like these poster shots with a handgun brought up to one's face, vertically in profile. I'm not a tactical expert, but from what I know, there are ways for moving indoors with a handgun ready in front of your eyes, and this is not one of them. Next is meeting with 006 and quietly shooting their way to the gas tanks...with the silencers sounding like Hollywood instead of real ones (yes, I'm that pedantic). Also, apparently their victims die of stroke, because there is no blood. I know, PG-13 and all that stuff, but this is James Bond, it's not meant for kids! It's for grown-up immature men. Anyway...the alarm is sounded and colonel Urumov (I know he's credited as Ourumov, but that's only to prevent anglophones from pronouncing it Yurumov) comes in with his soldiers armed with AK-74 rifles (wooden stock) and chinese Type 56-1 rifles (under-folding stock) dressed to look like AKS-74's. I love the look of an AKS-74 (side-folding stock) that 006 captures, I even had one as an airsoft rifle. It was rather front-heavy. On the other hand, Bond's captured AKS-74U (shortened) must have been really handy. He loves to pose with it in this movie, just like with his Walther PPK. Most of the AK's have a very fast cyclic rate, faster than the usual ~600 rounds per minute that the AK-family shares. Also, almost bottomless magazines, as opposed to 30-rounders. I do appreciate the correct shape of muzzle flashes, though I still question their size. Logically, that much propellant left to burn outside the barrel is just wasted energy and it gives the position of the shooter to the enemy - and the mod. 74 cartridge was developed concurrently with and for the AK-74. Video footage of the real thing confirms that.
Urumov and his men are no more capable than the inept agents. The colonel can't secure the area properly and puts everyone at risk. His men are even dumber and even more trigger-happy. Luckily for Bond, they've attended Stormtrooper shooting practice and Bond manages to escape on a conveyor belt. When he slides down from it outside the building, we can see that during some cut, he and 006 have travelled tens of floors from the bottom of the dam to the top of the gorge. It's a fast action sequence, so adding the climb would dilute the flow, but it was genuinely confusing until I sat down and thought about it.
Then we come to the (in)famous aircraft scene. I'll skip the action to the point when the pilot-less plane reaches the edge of the runway and immediately goes into a dive. I'm not a pilot, but an aircraft like this should be capable of being flown hands-off, meaning no force on the stick is required for level flight. IMO, it should either stall and fall off the sky, or take off and then stall and fall off the sky. Or I'm just talking rubbish and a dive is exactly what a plane like this does when it's too slow for level flight. Bond manages to jump (on a motorcycle) after it, fall faster along the same trajectory (it's a very deep gorge), get inside, struggle with the stick, eventually get the elevators working and with a Stuka siren scream (sigh) manages to pull out of that dive. Where do I start...all objects fall basically with the same acceleration, air friction on both Bond and the plane should be similar. The plane is slower, therefore it still must be flying, whereas Bond is falling with little forward velocity. When he catches up to it in the vertical, the plane will be too far away in the horizontal. Mind = boggled. For non-history buffs, that high-pitched wailing sound was only produced by German WWII dive bomber (Sturzkampfflugzeug, hence "Stuka") Junkers Ju 87 via little wind-powered propellers mounted on the landing gear struts, meant for demoralising the enemy. It's a common Hollywood trope which says "this aircraft is going down" (usually resulting in a crash). After Bond manages the impossible, he gets back above the gorge to watch the facility explode and we get a seamless transition to Tina Turner singing.
In summary, there are some minor flaws, some painful clichés, one plot hole, one great stunt, one incredibly stupid stunt, great action and great music. And all that before the title sequence! For the continuation of my rambling, wait for, or see part 2, if it's online by the time you read it. Have a nice day.

- the stories that aaron tells are amazing. he loves gracie so much and he is so brave.

- HE LIVES ON A NAVAL BASE?!???
- nuclear bombs? yes please.
- this is how she is gonna die. michonne is gonna go to the base and never come home. i can’t deal with that. don’t make rj and judith orphans please.
- i don’t think mary is lying. alpha might have moved them because she knows gamma is talking to aaron.
- daryl just wants to find his daughter
- SOMEONE FIND MY BABY LYDIA! PLEASE IM SO WORRIED FOR HER 💔
- michonne and judith dating goodbye is gonna make me cry.
- “be good for uncle daryl.”

Bond, ALL Bond
I'm sure you pretty much have to love James Bond when you are a boy growing up in the UK, I certainly did, but I gave up with them pretty young &, being now in my mid-40s, & with all of them currently streaming, I thought it might be a good time to reassess, & to see the many I have missed since. There are umpteen ranked lists online, but they are, of course, all wrong so, having just watched all of the Eon ones, here's mine (bearing in mind that they did go past in something of a blur & that there's many I've only seen once). I'm sticking to pretty brief summaries...
25. The Living Daylights (Dalton is NOT Bond, and it's dull as dishwater. The only one I didn't really like at all)
24. A View To A Kill (probably still the only one I saw in the cinema, & I loved it as a child. Can't hate a film with the fabulous Grace Jones in it, but nowhere near as good as I remembered. I still have a soft spot for the theme though)
23. Thunderball (I probably enjoyed this less than A View..., but suspect I might appreciate it more if I saw it again. The much-discussed diving scenes really are extremely boring though, & it's the one with the rapey bit)
22. Octopussy (another I really liked as a child. Seems like fluff now, but Steven Berkoff is still impressively nuts, & I wasn't bored)
21. Tomorrow Never Dies (I quite like the Brosnan ones, but the villain is kinda annoying in this one)
20. The World Is Not Enough (a bit overwrought, but enjoyable)
19. Die Another Day (I understand why people hate on this one, but if you suspend your disbelief, like you kinda have to with most blockbusters, I actually think it is decent)
18. You Only Live Twice (a weaker Connery one, despite or perhaps because of the Dahl script. EDIT: I just remembered this is the one with the expanded role for Blofeld, which is much in its favour, but all I could think of before was the yellowface, which I wouldn't dismiss it out of hand for, but is just really poor, so...I'm leaving it here)
17. GoldenEye (the sanctimonious updating is about as subtle as a brick, but the series certainly comes out refreshed anyway, yet Brosnan is also a return to a safer Bond portrayal than Dalton)
16. Live & Let Die (I really rather liked this one, but it gets docked a few points for the iffy content the Blaxploitation theme throws up)
15. On Her Majesty's Secret Service (I know this one has been reappraised, & it certainly gets kudos for the story, but Lazenby still isn't either Connery or Moore, & it probably doesn't help that he's wearing a frilly shirt for half the film, even if it is his cover or whatever)
14. Spectre (solid)
13. Licence To Kill (I was shocked how much more I liked this than the other Dalton one. Plot is nice & edgy. He still isn't really Bond though)
12. Dr No (I would like this, the first, to be higher, because you are punching the air with excitement as all the classic elements are introduced, but it does drag rather in the middle)
11. The Man With The Golden Gun (this is the only one I didn't rewatch, because it was so immediately familiar. It doesn't have a good rep, doubtless for good reason, but I have very fond memories of it)
10. Diamonds Are Forever (another one that was pretty familiar, much loved in childhood. The pair of villains I had completely forgotten about, & took me right back - love to hate em, etc)
9. The Spy Who Loved Me (lots of Moore ones high up - the Bond of my youth, embodies it best for me even if they are daft - this one has a good story though...)
8. For Your Eyes Only (...and this one even better)
7./6. Casino Royale/Quantum of Solace (I'm amazed to find myself putting Craig ones so far up, because I don't think he is Bondy enough really, but they are just good blockbusters. I know people love Casino & hate Quantum...I found Casino rather overlong & lacking in humour & thought far too much rested on the ending alone, but if you see them as a two-parter, like Kill Bill, I think Quantum forgives those parts of Casino & finishes the tale off well)
5. No Time To Die (significantly longer than all the others, but didn't seem to suffer from it. I was raising an eyebrow somewhat at the unBondy story, but it definitely works well as a piece)
4. Skyfall (good storyline, bit different from the rest)
3. Moonraker (will doubtless be barracked for putting this so high, but I remembered this well & immensely enjoyed it again this time - the high water mark for Camp Bond, bananas really)
2. From Russia With Love (I don't think I had ever seen this one, the second, before. If you like classic films & aren't into modern whizzbang ones or general silliness, this is the one to watch - just a really good film, whatever you think of Bond)
1. Goldfinger (I probably didn't expect to place this quite this high, but it is a classic, really, just everything in place, funny but tense. Sterling bit of fun)

This review may contain spoilers.
So much better than Dalton's first outing as James Bond but still a weird vibe. This movie was also crazy gory for a Bond flick. Exploding heads and people being ground is definitely a weird choice for the franchise, but I'm here for it.

Gachnar: “I am the dark lord of nightmares! (Buffy tries not to laugh) The bringer of terror! Tremble before me. Fear me!” Willow, laughing: “He – he’s so cute!” Gachnar: “Tremble!” Xander bends down: “Who’s a little fear demon? Come on! Who’s a little fear demon!” Giles: “Don’t taunt the fear demon.” Xander: “Why, can he hurt me?” Giles: “No, it’s just – tacky.”
