TotK DLC idea!
The screen is black. You don’t hear anything for a long time. Then, faintly, in the distance, you can hear it.
Link. Link. Open your eyes.
While the line echoes familiarity, the voice does not.
Or. Well. It does. Because while it isn’t Zelda, it’s a familiar man’s voice speaking gently, so gently you almost don’t recognize it because there’s no way he ever spoke like this in the main game.
But he is now. And instead of a golden light being the first image you see before the screen shows Link awakening… you see gloom floating in the air. The image cuts to a Hylian waking up who… doesn’t look like Link from TotK?? He’s different, still small in stature, with slightly tanner skin, platinum light blonde hair, and red eyes. But… something’s wrong with his forehead. There’s a weird line on it.
This new character you apparently are gonna be playing in the DLC blearily blinks his eyes open, clearly groggy and too weak to really move. But then that line on his forehead moves a hair, it splits apart, and you realize it’s a freaking eye, red and yellow and it’s like the ones on gloom hands and oh gosh what the hell is it doing on his forehead—
Link realizes something is off and his eyes blow wide, his hands reach for his forehead and he screams in agony and terror, only for someone to scoop him into a hug to soothe him.
And suddenly you realize why that voice was eerily familiar.
It’s Ganondorf. He resurrected you from the era of the Imprisoning War. You, who have a history with him and his family. You, who he wants to protect, who he views as his kid, who he calls a prince and says he’ll keep you safe by controlling your body with his dark magic if he has to.
Welcome to Tears of the Kingdom: Hero’s Shadow.
You have to play a long gone Hero who was resurrected. Ganondorf, who is still recovering his strength in preparation for killing the current Hero, tasks you with finding your betrothed, his daughter, as well as his wife. They’re buried somewhere in the Depths like you were. He wants you to find their burial sites so he can use his secret stone to resurrect them like he did you, and control them as well. Which is doubly bad when you realize his wife was the original Sage of Lightning. He gives you free reign to wander once you go through a tutorial (he tests you to see if you’ve recovered enough strength), because he knows you love wandering and collecting things. Your own personal objective, however, is trying to help Hyrule from the Depths, to break free from Ganondorf’s control, because Link would rather set himself on fire than let Ganondorf resurrect and control the love of his life and his mother-in-law. Your best hope is to find shards of the shattered Master Sword to try and stab the eye on Dark Link’s forehead and break the control Ganondorf has on you. Until you can, though, the monsters are your allies, you can teleport across the Depths by manifesting out of the gloom created by gloom hands (just like what Phantom Ganon does), and the world below is your oyster. If you get too close to sword shards when gloom hands are nearby, Ganondorf can see your attempt and immediately takes control of your body, and no matter what button you press Link just walks back to Ganondorf’s location and stays there until you get a chance to try again.
You start with three hearts, all empty looking like when gloom hurts you, and if you get injured they just shatter. Whenever they all shatter, you respawn at Ganondorf’s location because his gloom hands came and rescued you from dying. The only way you can get more hearts is by collecting poes and offering them to the statues in the Depths. You can communicate with the spirits of soldiers, who may give you combat tips or info about the area. If you gain enough of Ganondorf’s trust, he’ll let you command monsters, and he might even let you wander the Surface (under his supervision) during a blood moon.
You learn of Link’s and Ganondorf’s history through discovering ancient relics/texts that trigger memories. This connection between you and Ganondorf stems back to time before the war, well over ten thousand years ago. Link was engaged to Ganondorf’s daughter, but during the Imprisoning War the family fought against the demon king. Ganondorf did love his family, but he loved power more. Link sacrificed himself, letting himself get mortally wounded to save Rauru from a killing blow. Gan held him as he died, and it allowed Link to both beg him to stop and stab him in the heart with a light shard. The shard didn’t kill him, but it was what Rauru connected with when he hit him in the chest, allowing him to seal Ganondorf away. Ganondorf still wants the world, but his love for his family is still present, though now twisted, so he thinks he can control Link and everyone else with his dark magic in order to keep them safe and in line. Once the threat of the current Hero is eliminated, the world will be his, and his family will be safe. As such, he treats you, Link, the player, like a stubborn child, reeling you in, but does so in a horrific way, torturing Link by controlling him.
You have to break free of this and stop him, and the only hope you have is the distant call of a sword spirit…

Inviting you to go off about Hamlet not dithering for no reason. I agree completely but I love to hear your thoughts always
in my recent dive back through my hamlet tag, i found this post, which makes this answer kind of redundant. but being me i am going to say it anyway. tl;dr: hamlet's Big Mistake* is not delaying; it's doubt; it's his total inability to be certain he's doing the right thing. which i think under the circumstances of "there is a ghost" is pretty reasonable, actually.
*obligatory "trying to apply hamartia/fatal flaws to shakespearean tragic characters is kind of a crapshoot because shakespeare rarely creates a guy with Just One Fatal Flaw" but also, even if you WERE going to assign hamlet a fatal flaw, it should still be doubting and not delaying.
let us remember the circumstances:
>ghost appears, claims to be my dad dropping in from purgatory, tells me to literally murder a man
literally not at all the wrong move to take a second to breathe here. whomst among us is getting this information and immediately going to kill 1. a living breathing human being 2. who is part of our immediate family and probably someone we know very well 3. and who is also THE MONARCH IN CHARGE OF THE STATE WHO HAS CAPITAL PUNISHMENT POWERS. as K @stripedroseandsketchpads said in the linked post, it's very easy for the audience--who in shakespeare's day would have been familiar with revenge tragedy's generic tropes, and who in our era knows that hamlet is a play about killing your evil uncle--to think, "is he fucking stupid? isn't it obvious?" but however knowledgeable about theater hamlet is (very), he's not waking up in the morning with the assumption that he's living Inside Tropes. (i do think he's aware he's in a revenge tragedy by the middle/end of the play, but that's another post for another day.)
point being: jumping straight to murder is a CRAZY ask. even from your shitty ghost dad who you address as king more than dad. plus, if ghosts are real, it does stand to reason that they might be evil/trying to get hamlet to damn his soul, because clearly supernatural and satanic things are not off the table. the ghost might be dad, but it might also be the devil, or maybe even a hallucination caused by a fit of grief. so the first step here is not "murder right away," it's "get some proof more substantial than a Maybe Ghost."
so:
>pretend to be crazy >get some proof
and, okay, fine. the pretending to be crazy is... a decision. based off the amleth story, we can infer the rationale is "keep claudius from realizing i've figured out the murder, because if he knows that, he will kill me." re: the monarch who can KILL PEOPLE WHENEVER HE WANTS because he HAS SOLE POWER. but hamlet, perhaps All That was a little bit much.
nevertheless: hamlet starts being crazy at the top of act two. he sets the mousetrap scheme in motion in the second scene of act two. that's not that much of a delay, dude. that is one (1) scene of arguable "dithering," and he's not doing NOTHING, he's establishing his antic-disposition cover. you could argue that a lot of time has passed, but the timeline of hamlet is so blurry. we do not know that. he's covering his bases, okay?
and then he gets down to business! he has to yap about it first, but he surveils claudius during the play! and THIS is where the problem arises--he doesn't put off investigating; rather, he can't STOP investigating. because no amount of evidence is actually able to convince him to Do It. this isn't procrastination; this is a deep inability to be certain that he's on the right path. and this is a case where certainty matters, because if he's wrong, murder is a mortal sin. and also regicide. people get killed for that. like badly killed
2.2 is hamlet setting up the mousetrap thing. 3.1 (to be or not to be) occurs in the time before the players set their shit up, a delay that is not his fault. 3.2 is the mousetrap. 3.3 is claudius in the church, and then--
>talk to my mom >impulsively and paranoidly murder the royal advisor > > >oh jesus fucking christ i murdered the royal advisor
"hamlet's flaw is inaction" okay. well. i would say manslaughter is an action. in fact it is Such an action that it gets him banished for an entire act of the play. and thus we cannot really call anything after 3.4 a delay, either, because he's not sitting around twiddling his thumbs, he KILLED A MAN AND GOT EXILED TO ENGLAND.
the one place you can argue for hamlet dithering here is 3.3, with claudius in the church. hamlet claims he doesn't do it then because he doesn't want claudius to go to heaven for Died While Praying Virtuously. if you believe him, fine. if you think this is kind of a load of bullshit to cover that he doesn't want to do it--sure, okay. if he doesn't want to do it, it's because he still doesn't feel like he has enough evidence to justify it. the evidence he has--the evidence he thought would make him certain--is claudius freaking out during the play. but let us remember that the murderer in the mousetrap is the player king's NEPHEW. for all hamlet knows, it's actually entirely possible that claudius is freaking out because he thinks this is a threat from hamlet, not a staged callout post.
"but we know claudius killed king hamlet because--" because he says so. in his soliloquy. to the audience. which we can hear because of the structure of theater. which WE can hear. which hamlet CANNOT! and so hamlet has set up this elaborate rube goldberg machine to allow himself to Attain Certainty that he's doing the right thing. and yet no matter what happens, he can't reach that certainty for real.
and he never does, actually. in the last scene of the play, watching his mother die after drinking poison, he'll still demand everyone bar the doors to seek out the treachery--he's still leaving open the possibility that claudius might have nothing to do with this (as if claudius doesn't spend acts 3-5 way past jean ralphio levels of suspicious). and yet hamlet still doesn't seize on the obvious, because no amount of proof can be enough for him, because fundamnetally he doesn't trust himself. he doesn't trust his perception. he doesn't trust his judgment. in the end, he doesn't even kill claudius for killing hamlet senior. he kills claudius because claudius has poisoned HIM (and laertes and gertrude). arguably, he dies without ever being fully certain claudius actually killed his father.
now, we can all come up with our own interpretations of WHY hamlet doesn't trust himself (because nobody else seems to? because everyone thinks he's crazy? because he's worried he might be crazy? because he's religiously conflicted?). i think most of you can guess my answer. but we don't get an explicit why and that's not the point of this post. the point of this post is that however you read it, hamlet's not procrastinating. he is trying, desperately, from a place of intense political and emotional duress, to grasp any amount of empirical evidence before he kills another person with his own hands. and he can't.
anyway! anybody here take the yale-brown scale lately?

I finally rewatched a full playthrough of Bendy since the last time I did like six years ago. (thank you for inadvertently pushing me to go see this what was up with this game again with your own fondness for the franchise) I really enjoyed revisiting it! (though I have my thoughts on the last two chapter's direction) and dudeee there were tons of stuff I missed.
The Ink demon being the only one who came to life 'soulless' (and how horrific it is to think that the only reason the others even have souls is because they've been made from the employees, talk about bad working conditions) And just Susie Campbell's whole story mannn. Her two sides, Alice and Susie being shown through the voice acting and her adoration for both Joey and The character she plays had me so hooked. She's horrible. She slays so hard. The entire sepia tone is such a cool look throughout the game.
Also hi! I hope you're having a good day and I hope you don't mind this ask too much ^^'
Helloooo Pigeon!! Hope you’re having a wonderful day yourself! And no don’t mind it at all! In fact, it’s very much welcome, always happy to talk about Bendy hehehe
And yesssss, the game is actually really cool, I really love the characters and overall story, then its sequel, Batdr, brought its atmosphere justice I think, like, the look of the first game is really cool, but the second game elevated that look to the next level, regardless, the artstyle and color scheme of both games is so unique and fun, and it definitely helps make the games stand out
And oh my god I could literally talk about Alice and Susie all day, Alice is genuinely one of the best characters in game, in literally every aspect, personality, voice, mannerisms and behavior, looks, literally everything, her voice actress Lauren did such a PHENOMENAL job bringing her character to life, the way her voice goes form that normal pitch to a higher pitch, her laugh, the way her lines are delivered, just…
Literally me whenever Alice is onscreen
I’m sad that we haven’t gotten too much of a look into Susie’s story afterwards, Bendy unfortunately relies on the books to deliver important lore and story, and that isn’t really something that I’m exactly fond of, still, happy that we got Alice and Susie, and at the very least, Alice still takes an important role as a major antagonist in the sequel too, so my queen is never put aside, which I’m happy about :D
And ugh dude Bendy actually makes me sad, I remember reading through the book “Dreams come to life” back in.. 2020?? (good book actually, check it out of you’d like, here’s a link to the first two Bendy books for free ;)) and just, the way Bendy is treated from day 1 is heartbreaking, no wonder he became the “pure evil” everyone likes to paint him to be
If I was literally just born then the guy who’s supposed to be my dad looked at me with disgust, disowned me and called me “whatever that grinning thing was”, then locked me up for who knows how long as I wonder what i did wrong to deserve to be treated so damn shitty, only to be abandoned later, then even get tortured later down the line, I’d be a bitter bitch too chchhc, Bendy saying “you’re a mistake. A monster. Like me” is forever on my mind oughhhh the fact he actually sees himself as a mistake and a monster, the fact he internalized how he was treated ughhhh :’)
The story of the employees and how they lived in the studio is so so interesting and fun, Joey outright saying that he owns thousands of souls “if you claim your failures are because these things are soulless, then dammit, we’ll get them a soul! After all I own thousands of ’em” is still such a good line that gives us so much insight into Joey’s mindset
Unfortunately, we never got that expansion on the story of the employees and how each met their demise, instead, Batdr backpedaled so hard it left many holes in the story that doesn’t add up, which I’m still a bit disappointed with and so
Tumblr media
Still, I love both games, and if my memory serves me right, the books were also good, I’d probably rewatch a playthrough or play it again myself cause talking about it actually made me wanna do that hehehe
Anyway, cause you’re my awesome moot and your ask brought a smile to my face here are some old Bendy art that’s lost to time and were only posted to my old nonexistent accounts (I think)

finished my short power fantasy reread a couple days ago and came out very impressed by it- it’s starting to scratch the itch wicdiv did years ago, though they’re very different books. i read die and a bit of once and future too, but i think this deep character drama/high worldbuilding mode is my favorite gillen. i have a bunch of things i want to post about eventually but one that immediately came to mind, especially seeing the solicits for the next two issues, was that i’m really intrigued by whatever is going on with jacky and eliza’s dynamic.
jacky in general is a character i’ve ended up really loving (er, as a character, not a person), partly because he feels like gillen working against archetype in some ways? i feel like a considerable part of the readers are going to go in with preconceived notions of what a right-wing guy with a mask is going to be like, and particularly they’re going to compare him to woden, which is of course where my brain instantly went after the first issue. if you asked me what i thought was up with jacky and eliza after #2 i would probably have the valkyries and woden’s dynamic with cassandra enter my brain. in reality jacky isn’t a lot like woden for the obvious reasons- woden’s an old white dude whose character is fundamentally linked to those things, and jacky’s a brown guy who used to be an anarchist- but also because woden’s character motivation turns out to be grimly simple and selfish, whereas jacky’s right-wing shift is clearly influenced by massive trauma and fuckups but also not justified by those things.
jacky and eliza’s dynamic appears to be pretty much(?) platonic- at least in the sense that jacky tells the pyramid that they should just kill him if he ever goes evil cult leader and has sex with any of them*- but is still incredibly loaded! jacky let her into the total arseholes in the 70s but later notes that he never trusted her enough to promote her higher, and he didn’t even back then:
Tumblr media
(by the by, eliza being rendered in complete white in flashbacks before her decension is one of my favorite wijngaard artistic touches for the book so far. really emphasizing the good girl gone bad.)
eliza spends this entire scene questioning him, and it seems to me like she had her own ideas and agenda even back then. (what exactly is christianity in this world when valentina came down from heaven?) presumably then there was another decade-plus of history between them before the second summer of love, at which point things imploded in a way we’ll presumably find out about this week as i write this.
what’s really juicy to me though is what we get in the post-SSOL scene in #5 and after. from what i can tell, eliza’s decension was probably both a consequence of whatever she had to do in the SSOL and her own desires and beliefs…but jacky pretty clearly blames himself.
Tumblr media
which i’d argue is a bit rude to eliza’s agency- she comes off as pretty confident in her choice here, although we haven’t been deep in her head- but that’s sure not how jacky is internalizing it. later in this scene he refers to her as “an occasional really good person who wants to be a martyr” (she seems to acknowledge this as referring to herself) and a “beautiful, sweet-hearted, doomed, dumb fuck.” it’s probably quite good for humanity that eliza came around when she did, but i don’t think jacky likes that it happened to her specifically. more importantly, it makes her the only surviving member of the original pyramid; in jacky’s eyes, she’s a living embodiment of his failure walking around, and also she could end the world right now if she wanted to on an even greater scale than he could, judging by the estimates in #6.
by the time we get to 1999 this all seems to have metastasized for jacky as…some sort of belief that eliza is aligned to him? she has to correct him on it in #2:
Tumblr media
“eliza arrived to join me” is interesting wording- pretty sure she arrived for her own reasons, buddy. but eliza has been so offscreen up until this point that i don’t think we really have any full idea of her politics, and i’m inclined to think she might keep a lot of them to herself. it’s never even in question whether she’ll come to masumi’s art show; she was never going to. i don’t get the impression that she and jacky talk often, even if their history makes them important to each other. so jacky’s just spent years molding an idea in his head of what he would like things to be like, an idea that’s all tied up in what he thinks he needs/wants to do for the world, as it is with every relationship between the superpowers.
Tumblr media
jacky, i know you’re saying this because she’s the only one whose powers can interfere with your plans, but it feels like you’re really saying it because you’ll burn down your relationships with the other superpowers if you have to, but you feel like you have to retain your relationship with eliza because she’s the last vestige of your past life and you hold immense guilt for her actions and you feel like retaining a stable relationship with her is important for your own stability and self-perception? is that it? i’m just saying man.
and of course none of this explains what eliza thinks about him, which is much more ambiguous, like everything else about her. well, that’s for the next few issues to discuss.
(i feel like this sort of not-quite-romantic dynamic is permeating a bunch of this book’s relationships, particularly some of the early stuff with etienne and valentina- valentina refers to some of his compliments in the first scene of the comic as “flirting”, and they have the classic childhood friends backstory. but they also are pretty obviously not a thing. you wonder how many relationships among the superpowers have hovered around it and not gotten further because The World Is At Stake. heavy seems incredibly polyamorous and isabella and masumi’s dynamic is a fucked mess neither can completely acknowledge, but the other four superpowers seem very single. etienne almost certainly has an ethical discussion of such things in his head.)
* as a side note, this is a fun parallel with heavy and his cult’s “weird sex stuff”, though despite his occasionally almost world-ending behavior heavy is still way more likable than jacky. interesting counterpoint to any potential Sex Coded As Bad takes that a lot of fiction stumbles into.

How do you feel about the way the show handled Zuko redemption? There's this really interesting post on the account LinkSpooky that compares Zuko and Spike from Buffy the vampire slayer and I think their argument is really intriguing.
I'd very much like a link to that to see what says 👀 I love both of these dumbasses to death, and I honestly cannot think of two characters with more radically opposite kind of redemption arcs than Zuko and Spike.
Zuko's redemption was obviously set in stone before the first episode of Avatar even aired. Nearly every single episode in which he has a large roll gives us a little (or a big) hint of his humanity and hidden depths. All the bad things he ever did felt like a natural thing for his character to do, and like the show wanted us to be both disappointed in him, but also root for him to figure things out and correct his behavior, not like they were backtracking.
Even the ammount of screentime he got from day one made it clear that he was a favorite of the writers instead of just of the fans, and that they were working very carefully to make sure we'd love him too - and it worked! It's textbook "Good planning leads to good results."
But Spike? That dude is the classic case of "Actor using his charisma and improved take on the writers' work to brute force his way into another paycheck by making the villain too lovable to not be redeemed."
Spike was meant to just be using Drusilla and not feel any genuine affection for her. But James played every scene of Spike taking care of, cherishing, and full on gushing over her as being 1000% genuine, which combined with how funny, intriguing and genuinely threatening the character could be made him into a fan favorite, and "dream guy", immediately - much to Joss Whedon's horror.
Spite was meant to die in the middle of season 2. Then to just leave Sunnydale and be written off by the finale of that same season. Then to just have one last appearance in season 3. Then came back and joined the main cast in season 4, but still as the "Bad guy that is sort of working with the heroes due to circumstance but could betray them at any second"...
But his chemistry with Buffy was so obvious that everyone, including the actress, was shipping them and begging Whedon to make them a thing, which he eventually accepted, but even that came with painfully out of character moments like Seeing Red to go "SEE? BAD GUY! VAMPIRE! EVIL! YOU WERE NOT SUPPOSED TO ROOT FOR A SOULESS THING!"
...And even that and the Buffy finale weren't enough and somehow he was brought to season 5 of Angel as a main character.
This motherfucker fought his way to redemption and popularity against the showrunner's wishes and won so hard he ended up in a different show, it's legit mindblowing.
Zuko's redemption is an exemple of how it pays off to plan stuff ahead, Spike's redemption is an exemple of how writers sometimes have to abandon their original plans because they've stumbled onto something that is just too good to let go to waste (and because the audience will castrate them if they take their fave away for real).

Mr.Puzzles Ramble part 4009488383839393848
I added links to my other rambles if yo interested but all in all.....
Tumblr media
Chat
GET EM
[1]
[2]
[3]
I wanna talk about 2 episodes in particular for this ramble:
Mario loses his moustache & Mr.Puzzles lowest point
It is my humble opinion that this dude still does NOT know what the fuck a MEME is- cus look at his actions in each episode. In the first one he studies Mario intensely because this is the one who has been ruining his plans the most with his bullshit and FUNNY.
Mr.Puzzles is after the power of being funny but still finds memes disgusting/horrible, when he makes Pedro his intensions are to film the creature hoping to steal SMG4's fame in a SMG3 LIKE manor, instead of stealing the videos hes just stealing assets of an actor. Yes; he does say MEME OFF but im convinced this man has no fucking clue what he's talking about and thats made more apparent in the next episode where he's going through content creator depression.
When the children turn on their Brainrot Skibbity Toilet he rightfully finds it to be the most insulting thing to ever grace his face and wants it gone, but then he realizes; hey wait a minute ... If I do this, I can traffic people to follow me, make money, make the content I love and BAM!! I'll be popular!!!
However.... He gets in his own way, when the "fame" of a billion children liking his youtube channel hits, it gets to his head immediately and he gets distracted from what he really wanted to do! He doesn't wanna make this shit, he wants to make his art!!! He doesn't understand WTF he's made other than an abomination
Tumblr media
Like this man is genuinely confused as to why people have not gone from his shitty youtube channel over to his REAL content on the TV bc he forgot the part where he's supposed to stop the youtube and make stuff he likes again. Too 1 track minded
Even to the SMG4 crew its not funny bc it is NOT a meme! Mr.Puzzles doesn't know how to do that.
Tumblr media
He came into the convention wanting to talk about his interests, inspirations, how he wrote his screen plays... Alas the crowd was children who didn't give a flying fuck about his craft and this pissed him off. Like: WHAT DO U MEAN U DIDNT LOOK AT MY TV SHOWS AND ONLY WATCH THIS STUFF IM NOT PROUD OF!?!?
& funnily enough
That leads into another point where this guy gives up so fast on things. Like in the cannon he SAYS he's given up on TV but that's a lie, he's going to keep doing entertainment.
What I mean by him giving up easily is:
Tumblr media
He is a pathetic little meow meow folks. Hes one of those villains that THRIVES off a evil plan but when he's caught. He puts up his hands and runs, or throws things at his enemies.
Like in WOTF, in the song all boyo does: is throw shit because he DOES NOT know how to defend himself bro lololol. He has the power of his imagination but this isnt his head or his rules so he cant just- imagine a kung fu master as himself and fight back: his natural defences are to
Run/ Hide/ Throw things/ Bat things away/ Retract/ Panic
Tumblr media
So when a plan fails. That plan is practically gone until he can think of a new way to use it
Like i doubt we're going to see Mario losing his moustache for a long time, i think we're going to see it again!!! But not soon. Mr.Puzzles needs time to cook that thought in the back of his mind of if it's even worth trying again or not.
He coulda given up on that thought all together but we wont know til we see!!
And he gave up on the youtube too! Because he was disappointed in himself and bro really just; could not bear to use that money anymore. He looked at that cash and could only relate it to his cringe youtube channel that he didnt want to associate with anymore. The original plan to use the money to make the content he wants: ⚰️
"I can't just use the money to make the content i want now! Im ruined! They just see me as a kids play toy now and this cash is NOTHING!!"
He forgot the plan, thus it got ruined by his own hand, and sense it was no longer completable in the way he originally intended it to go- it was impossible to complete.
Tumblr media
He's so silly. I love him so much

Figured I'd start posting some side posts of everyone's opinions on other characters (mainly canon and my own OCs but I might add in OCs that have been interacted with if people don't mind being tagged)? This was smth I considered already and was then further prompted to do based on a response to a post I made yesterday.
So anyways, without further ado:
🦐OCpinions Time - Pt. 1 - Yuna Sid🦐
Other Parts: (to be linked)
Note: I kinda guessed on some emojis? There is a tiny bit of overlap... Oops? If your OCs have interacted with Yuna and you don't mind being mentioned, then pls lmk id love to add them!
Canon
Heartslabyul:
🌹Riddle (Aka "Ridds"/"Rosy"/"Your Majesty"): "He was a bit of a stick in the mud at first, and we certainly weren't very fond of one another. Despite that, I think I'd consider him a friend of mine now. He sometimes helps me study for written exams, since I can't do too much on the magical end of things. I would joke that he start a ‘Bad Parent(s) Support Group’ with me, but I think he’s still trying to figure things out himself, so I think it’s better to leave him to it… I've got a lot of respect for him, though. I mean, he's able to (generally) keep Ace and Deuce in check, so…” Bonus, "The Overblot" - "…Don't mention this to him, but sometimes I can still feel the sensation of cold metal clamping down over my neck. I don't hate him by any means… but the whole Overblot thing definitely made it harder to trust him at first." ♥️Ace (Aka "Red"/"Thing No. 1"/"Acey"): "My right hand man and one of my first friends on this godforsaken campus. I dunno why he insists on playing coy with everyone; it’s so painfully obvious when he cares about someone and yet he’d rather pretend he’s so cool and uncaring. It’s kinda endearing, if I'm being honest. I do wish he wasn’t such a jerk sometimes, though. Dude needs to learn to read the room. Despite that, I like hanging with him and dunno where I’d be if we weren’t friends. He's helped me out far more than I'd like to admit.” Bonus, "On Crushes" - "Oh come on... you're telling me that of ALL the guys in this place, one of the guys I have to have a crush on is THIS GUY???? UGH I thought I had better taste... It really doesn't help that he's charming from time to time, though...." ♠️Deuce (Aka "Blue"/"Thing No. 2"/"Deucey"/"Chickadee"): "My left-hand man; I have no clue what I’d do without him. Unlike Ace, I did not hate him at first. He’s a bit impulsive and oblivious sometimes, and sometimes you can really tell he was a delinquent in the past, but underneath all that, he’s a good guy. I’d trust him with my life, honestly. We study together pretty often, even when Ace has decided he doesn't need to join us, hehe..." Bonus, "On Crushes 2" - "Okay so I know I complained about Ace, but by comparison, Deuce is probably a safer option... He's super sweet and far more open about his feelings than a certain someone else... I still have to question my own choices, though..." ♣️Trey (Aka "Mom"/"The Tooth Fairy's Evil Twin Brother"/"Clover"): “I never know what to think about Clover… he’s got a generally nice and helpful air about him, but the dude can have a real mischievous streak when needed. I respect him a ton, though. It can’t be easy having to basically serve as Heartslabyul’s babysitter when the Housewarden is away. He needs to be more direct when he wants something, though… In fact, it drives me insane how dishonest he can be at times.” ♦️Cater (Aka "Cay-Cay"/"Cay"/"Diamond"): “He’s… a strange one for sure. We get along all right, but I wish he would be a little more open with me. Like, dude, I’m trying to give you an actual genuine connection with someone in the form of friendship!!! I guess I can't blame him too much, though, when I'm much the same way... Regardless, though, he’s pretty fun to talk with, especially about the latest gossip that’s going around NRC.”
Savanaclaw:
🦁 Leona (Aka "Aniki"/"Big Bro"/"Jerk"/"Leo"): “Man. I honestly did not get along with Leona at first. I think sometime shortly after the Octavinelle incident, though, our dynamic kinda shifted into that of a pair of siblings, at least in my eyes... I usually wind up calling him ‘Aniki’, whereas instead of ‘Herbivore’, I’ll occasionally hear ‘squirt’ instead. He’s still kind of a pain in the ass, but he’s not as bad as you’d think. Bonus, "The Overblot 2"- "Sand... everywhere... I watched as skin and bone was nearly reduced to nothing... I... God. If it were any other situation, it would've been so cool. But it was people... people. No one died, but it was terrifying, nearly being on the other end of that spell..." 🍩 Ruggie (Aka "Ruggs"/"Furry Squire"): “It was a bit frustrating when we first met, yknow, under the circumstances that we did (the Magift tournament), but after that we kinda became sorta friends? I wouldn’t say we were close or anything like that, but we did bond over a mutual dislike for rich people if that’s anything.” 🐺 Jack (Aka "Wolfie"/"Fido"/"Jackie"): "I like Jack. He's very consistent and, honestly, one of the better guys in this place. We may have been a little tense with each other at first, but I'd consider him a close friend of mine at this point. He, Epel, and I occasionally work out together. I don't think he was sure about it at first, since it was actually me who brought it up originally, but I think we all have fun with it now. So thanks, Wolfie, 'cause now I can handle myself in a fight."
Octavinelle
🐙 Azul (Aka "Fishface"/"That Fish-faced Mafioso"/"The Manager from Hell"/"'Zul"): “It’s kinda funny. I was never intending to work in the Mostro Lounge for ANY reason, but when the Birdman (Crowley) cut my allowance, I had to make some sacrifices. I was super hesitant about even touching the place because I knew it meant having to deal with Mr. Fish-Face himself, but honestly? It’s not too bad. Plus, he’d never let anyone know, but Azul isn’t always a money-hungry, gold-grubbing, capitalist fiend. He's actually helped me out once or twice with getting my hands on some piano scores from this world... free of charge, too. Don't tell him I told you this, though. He'd never let me live it down, at that point.” Bonus, "The Overblot 3" - "Top ten most frustrating crash outs I've had the displeasure of witnessing... Like, dude, I know you worked hard for those contracts, but... I dunno... it was kind of just frustrating since... well... I won. Sure, I had some help from Leona, but still... I also get not wanting people to know about who you were in the past, trust me. But that was just... a bit too far. I dunno, maybe that was just the point I started wanting to just zone out during Overblots... One was bad, two was upsetting, but three was just... starting to get old real fast, y'know?" 🐬 Jade (Aka "The Scary Twin"/"JJ"): "So, of the twins, I think Jade is by far the more terrifying of the two. I need to get that out now before anything. He's very polite, yes, but that smile of his never ceases to unnerve me... He does offer me drinks from the lounge from time to time? I never can stay for long enough to take advantage of his offer, but something tells me that maybe it's for the best?" 🦈 Floyd (Aka "The Fun Twin"/"Flo"/"The Personification of a Hydraulic Press"): "Floyd is... surprisingly fun to be around. Sure his mood swings can be a bit terrifying, especially when he decides it'd be more fun to chase me around, but he's usually pretty chill when we hang out. I'm kinda grateful to him, because he's part of the reason I have the job in the lounge that I do... found my playing interesting enough to be of note and brought it to Azul's attention at some point, I guess? He also gives pretty good hugs? I dunno what the whole deal is with getting squeezed being a bad thing, but the pressure is kinda relaxing... like a weighted blanket, y'know?"
Scarabia
☀️ Kalim (Aka "Sunny"/"Kali"): "Kalim is really nice! He's probably one of the nicest people I've met in this school and it's a bit refreshing! His optimism is ... Kinda concerning sometimes, but I don't really know how to bring it up to him. He's really fun to play music with, though, and sometimes I'll join him and the other light music club members to play together! I just... I know that he knows about the whole... Thing by now... It's almost amazing that he's so persistent... I really wish I could be as positive as he is sometimes, even if it is only a defense mechanism..." 🐍 Jamil (Aka "Snake Eyes"/"Mr. Hissyfit"/"Jami"): "He's too closed off and doesn't express his feelings enough. I know why he does it, but that doesn't make it any less irritating! He's gotten a little bit better about it over time, I guess, but God does it piss me off when Kalim or someone else does something and he just. Gets this look on his face and you KNOW he's pissed and/or is now unable to do things to his full potential but. I dunno... We occasionally hang out in order to just express our frustrations over people, though, which is fun. Sometimes he'll tell me about whatever is going on in Scarabia and I'll complain a bit about the Birdman." Bonus, "The Overblot 4" - "I really want to trust Jamil. I do! But... Listen, unknowingly having your mind controlled once is already a horrifically jarring experience... It makes it hard to wanna be around him too much, even though I know it's not going to happen the way it did again, but... I don't know how Kalim does it, really. And he and the other dorm members were all being mind controlled at some point or another during the whole winter break fiasco."
Pomefiore
🦚 Vil (Aka "Queenie"/"Peacock"): "Queenie isn't too bad, despite how strict he is. He just wants everyone to be the best they can be. His methods are... Debatable, in my opinion, but I can admire his work ethic. He's one of the few people that helped me get some decent clothes in this place, and now I can at least look somewhat nice when I go out for things, haha? He, along with a few others, also helped me out in designing a dorm uniform for Ramshackle as it is now. He actually was the one who suggested using parts of other dorms uniforms, and gave me the boots and the undershirt that I've got for it." Bonus, "The Overblot 5" - "Fuck, dude. That was... Kinda terrifying. I really, really shouldn't have been staying for overblots at this point. I'll never forget the look on his face though when he was spiraling about being truly evil... I've never seen someone look so... Upset with themselves while also trying to kill everyone else... Like when you fall into such a bad self-deprecative spiral that it just winds up becoming a self-fulfilling prophecy or something...". Bonus, "Being a Hero" - "Ever since the whole STYX thing... I can't help but admire Queenie. Can't believe he spent so much time wondering if he was good enough to play the part of the hero and yet before everyone's eyes... He managed to do exactly that. It's amazing... He's so effortlessly strong and graceful and seems like he's capable of anything..." 🏹Rook (Aka "The Guy with the Fuckass Bob"/"Chessman"/"Hunter"/"Frenchie"): "He's Rook. What else is there to say, honestly? Jokes aside he's.... Eccentric. Though that's kind of like saying the ocean is big or that Grim is a glutton- totally obvious. I can't help but find him just a bit interesting, though. I like how he's able to find beauty in literally everything, even if it's like. A massive trashcan or something I can picture him going like 'Ah, Mon Petit Étrangère! Do you not see how the sunlight reflects just so, illuminating even the most mundane things in its luxurious glow' Or something like that. Makes him really fun to talk to, cause you never know what he's gonna say next... I just wish that he wouldn't like. Fire arrows in my direction when he needs to get my attention from far away..." 🍎Epel (Aka "Apple Guy", usually just refers to him by name): "Dude. As someone who came from a somewhat rural area myself, I freaking love Epel! He reminds me a lot of some of the people in my hometown, if not a bit more on the extreme countryfolk side of things? I dunno. We bonded pretty quickly with one another because of how other students perceived us at first (though I guess part of that was because I was purposefully trying to disguise myself as a dude at first and... Kind of was failing miserably). He's got a totally admirable drive to him, and like I said earlier, he, Jack, and I often like to work out together. Epel makes for a pretty fun sparring partner once in a while, too."
Ignihyde
🔥 Idia (Aka "Idy"/"Sparky"/"Hothead"): "Dude might be an introvert, but he's totally fun to talk to! He's one of the few people who will listen to me ramble on about the games from my world with active interest. Leona wasn't too appreciative of the FNAF lore dump, but you know who was? Idia. And after that several hour long ramble, he decided to share a similar horror game with me and we hung out for a bit and played it together. I do wish he wasn't so skittish, though... Like, Bro... I just wanna show you this picture of Grim that I took the other day..." Bonus, "The Overblot 6" - "I... I can't blame him for what he did. The others I can certainly hold some level of contempt for their actions but... him? I was mad, sure, but... he was wracked with stress and grief over a life he never asked for and a brother that he lost. If I were in his shoes, I probably would have done the same thing... He already struggled to meet my eyes, but he absolutely refused to do so until I dyed the grey strand of hair that I got from our fight." 🤖 Ortho (Aka "Ortie"/"Toto"/"Robo-Wonder"): "Ortho? I adore him! He's such a sweetie, if not a little terrifying sometimes when you diss his brother or his other friends. I have to admit, though, I'm super curious about his existence as a technomantic humanoid... the concept is super cool, and it... honestly makes me wonder if I could somehow find a way to use magic via technology..." Bonus, "The Overblot 6.5" - "I like hanging with Ortho as is, but sometimes I find myself wondering what the human Ortho was like... It's not a good thought process and I usually shut it down pretty quick, but sometimes I worry that he goes down that same path from time to time."
Diasomnia
🐉 Malleus (Aka "Horn Guy"/"Mal"): "Horn Guy is. An odd duck… er… dragon. To most people, he’s this big, intimidating mystery of a man. And yet? This man is desperately craving people to talk to and is honestly one of the biggest dweebs I’ve ever met. He carries around a little Tamagotchi and treats it like his own son for God’s sake! Honestly, if I get the chance, I’m just gonna start inviting him places more often. Dude needs it for real.” Bonus, "The Overblot 7" - “The incident? Listen, I’ve just. Put it on the back burner like I’ve done every other time… He wasn’t in his right state of mind, maybe even moreso than the others, so I’m just going to pretend it didn’t happen. Besides, the less I have to think about that whole… thing…, the better.” 🦇 Lilia (Aka "Gramps"/"Peepaw"/"General" [Post ch 7]/"Batty"/"Lils"): "Lils is pretty fun. He sometimes jumps out of nowhere which is a little terrifying, but I respect him. For an old geezer, he sure does seem to have a good sense of humor (read: the same sense of humor as most teens, I guess), and I kind of wonder what it'd be like to expose him to some of the memes from my world, haha! I'd also love to share some of the rock and metal from my world with him, too. It isn't particularly my jam, but there's some that I think he'd like. I'm just glad he seems to be pretty chill with me hanging around Horn Guy and the others. If I catch him while I'm visiting Diasomnia, he always seems to have a proud smile on his face... He kinda reminds me of my dad, in some ways, which now that I'm saying that out loud feels... Kind of weird since he's a high schooler." Bonus, "The Dreams" - "At first, I would've asked why the fuck his happiest dream or whatever was him reliving his war days fighting against an imperialist regime that killed a lot of people and did a lot of damage to the Briar Valley but... Well. I can't deny that it was sweet because a big part of it was him finding his family." 🗡️ Silver (Aka "Prince"/"Sil"/"Prettyboy"): "I don't know him all that well, but he's nice enough, I suppose. I always catch him snoozing in the weirdest places, so every once in awhile I'll have to wake him up and ask where he was going before he fell asleep. He's got this super regal air about him though that I just can't pinpoint..." Bonus, "The Dreams 2" - "HES A FUCKING PRINCE OF COURSE HE FELT ODDLY REGAL. But putting that aside... His strength to take everyone dream to dream like. 20 or so times? Fucking insane. I'm... Glad he was able to help me and the others, though. He's really a sweet guy and he really went through the wringer with this..." 🐊 Sebek (Aka "Crocodile Rock"/"Snappy"/"Scaly"/"Sebby"): "If Sebek were a dog, he would be a Chihuahua. All bark, no bite. If he were to just quiet down half the time, he'd be ten times easier to be around and talk to. Like, dude. I think Mal is neat, too, but you've gotta let the man breathe for a moment? That, and this class discussion is supposed to be about the effects of the 'rugged street rat's' influence on the economy of the Scalding Sands after he managed to marry their crown princess... Please... It is fun to talk to him once in a while about books, though, if you can get him to derail his thoughts from the Malleus train for five seconds." Bonus, "The Dreams 3" - "I hope that he's doing alright after... Well.. everything that we went through with the Malleus stuff. It's pretty obvious that it's affected his worldview in a pretty meaningful way, but I also hope he would be willing to let me and the other first years be a support for him."
Staff + Ramshackle
🐦‍⬛Crowley (Aka "Birdman"/"Headmage" [in polite company]/"That fucking bird that I hate"): "That fucking bird that I hate. I do not like the headmage, and anyone who knows me for even a little bit would tell you the same. I'm sick and tired of being his gopher, y'know? I can't wait for the day that someone cuts him down to size and puts him in his place... I guess I can't entirely hate him, since at least I have a place to stay now? I still don't like him, though." 🐕Crewel (Aka "Professor Crewel"/"Mr. Crewel"): "Professor Crewel is a bit terrifying sometimes, but he means well. Y'know how I mentioned that Vil helped me come up with a dorm uniform for Ramshackle? Yeah, Crewel also helped. Who would've thought that getting help from fashionistas would lead to some. Actually nice outfits? He's not too bad about making some smaller accommodations for myself since... No magic? He's definitely still super strict, though..." 🐈‍⬛Trein (Aka "Professor Trein"/"Mr. Trein"/"Dad" [on one occasion that she will never live down as long as ADeuce are alive]): "Everyone says that history is boring... I couldn't disagree more. Sure, Professor Trein has a bit of a monotone voice when he's lecturing, but it's still so fascinating to learn about everything in this world! Like Mr. Crewel, he's still pretty strict on grades, but I don't have to worry about Grim's performance in Mr. Trein's classes since I'm doing most of the work anyways." 🦌Vargas (Aka "Coach"/"Coach Vargas"/"Mr. Vargas"/"Meathead"): "Coach is... A total blockhead! Like, seriously!? I never thought it'd be possible to have gym classes with a man so stubborn and meatheaded before and... God it's exhausting... Every time I have gym class I leave with some kind of injury from overexertion, I swear! Ok... Maybe I'm exaggerating a little bit but... Well, at least he's pretty understanding of my situation(s) so... I'll take a win where I can... Don't like his class very much, though." 💀 Sam (Aka "Mr. Sam"): "Mr. Sam is AMAZING! He always has what you need, somehow... It's kinda crazy. He usually is willing to help me a bit when I need groceries in Ramshackle and he's also the one who gave me the bat I carry around. Something about some extra stock not for sale or whatever. He's really awesome and I appreciate his help with everything..." 🐾 Grim (Aka "My Son"/"My Boy"/"Grimmy"): "OH MY GOD that is my SON RIGHT THERE! I honestly didn't actually like Grim very much at first... We clashed a lot, y'know? He thought of me as just some magicless deadweight in the way of his goals of becoming a great mage and I just found him to be annoying... But after a while we just became friends. We've been through a lot, y'know, and I literally don't think I'd still be around if it weren't for Grim. Oh, and don't tell him I told you this, but he really is becoming so skilled and talented, he might not even need me anymore sooner or later, haha..." Bonus, "The Prologue" - "Sometimes I have dreams like the one I had when I first woke up here. I always see a massive beast with glowing blue ears and a forked tail... I really hope that that's one dream that doesn't turn out to be true."
RSA
🙃Chenya (Aka "Cheshire"/"Kitty-cat"/"Mr. NoBody"): "We haven't spoken much, but I like Chenya... At least from what I have learned about him? He speaks in riddles constantly, but I think that's just a fun quirk." ❄️ Neige (and the dwarves by extension) (No Nicknames): "I don't know him very well at all, but I'm just... I dunno. His overly cheerful and positive attitude is just as frustrating as Kalim's, if not MORESO. Maybe I'd like him more if I got to know him, but I'm just not a fan right now... Besides, all of his character portrayals just read the same to me, so I'm not too interested in his work, either."
Other
🔔 Rollo (Aka "Bell-man"/"Ugly Bob Man"/'Church Boy"): "Whoever did his hair needs to be fired immediately... Im kidding, but honestly after the stunt pulled at NBC, I don't like him much... A lot of people got hurt or could've even been killed! Sometimes I think about writing to him, though... Just to see if maybe he'd be willing to just hear me out on some of my own issues with magic..." 🦊 Fellow and 😺 Gidel (Aka "Mr. Honest/Foulsworth and Gidel/Gino"): "Some lowlife scammers who still managed to give me and the others a really fun time! Sure... We almost died... But like... I've gotten used to it at this point, really... Ok so the almost dying sucked ass actually but... The theme park time I spent with the others is priceless... So I guess there's that?" 🦴 Skully (No nicknames): "I have... No idea who he was, but every time I see his picture in the library, I always get the oddest feeling that we would have been really good friends..."
OCs
Heartslabyul
🎩 Lewis (Aka "Hatter"): "Jerk! Always leaving me to do his work when he's busy being collared or just fucking off to who knows where! ... Ok I'm overreacting a bit... Lewis isn't all that bad, he's actually really caring when it matters... He's just a bit hard to get help from if he's not interested."
🌺 Azalea (Aka "Azzy")( @nrcbookclub): "They're really friendly! I appreciate all their help and kindness so far, even though we didn't meet under the best conditions... I really enjoyed his stories about the book club though, so I'm looking forward to visiting and getting to know them and everyone else better!"
Savanaclaw
♌ Izem (Aka "Izzy"/"Bossman"): "If I had to pick someone on this campus to be my brother, it'd be Izem. He may act all big and tough, sure, but deep down he's a real softie. He gives really good advice, too."
Octavinelle
🍣 Olivine (Aka "Sharkbait"): "We have a few classes together, but we don't talk much. We just share circles, since we both know Rusul and Izem. He definitely always looks like he's plotting someone's murder, though (typically Azul's)..."
Scarabia
🦜 Rusul (Aka "Birdie"/"Birdbrain"/"Featherbrain"/"Ruffles"): "He kinda drives me up the wall sometimes, but he's not too bad. He's always up to something, though, and he just kind of does whatever he wants to. It's really funny, though, occasionally I'll catch him staring at some of the curtains or tapestries or other things around the building and judging them SO HARD. I wonder why he does it, but maybe he's just got an eye for these things?"
Pomefiore
🐁 James (Aka "Squeaky"): "Someone needs to pull his head out of his own ass sometimes I swear. I like him and all, but he's also super irritating when he gets into talking about himself. His Unique Magic has helped me out of a bind on more than one occasion, though, which is pretty neat. He also doesn't boast about this, for once, but he's... A SUPER talented actor. No wonder he's well-liked in the drama club! A shame he prefers directing, though." 🐈‍⬛ Lucretia (No nicknames): "Squeaky's little cat? She's fun, I guess.... Honestly really fun to share gossip with, actually. I love learning James lore from her. It's always the best."
Ignihyde
🐈‍⬛Alden (Aka "Kitty cat"/"Lynx"/"Al") ( @nine-lives-lynx): "We've only started being friends, but she's super chill... I appreciate her curiosity and willingness to hear me out once in a while. He's very patient and relaxed, too, which is a pleasant change of pace from a lot of the more excitable people on this campus. I look forward to hanging out with him again."
🫒 Klen (No nicknames yet)(@/nrcbookclub): "Haven't gotten the chance to speak to him very much yet, but... I know he also helped out when I overblotted. He seems like he's a good guy, though, so I hope to get to know him better soon."
Diasomnia
🌙Casimir (Aka "Chuuni"/"Cas"/"Casi"/"Pipsqueak"): "It's a shame more people don't hang around Cas, the dude is a total blast! Sure he talks a bit odd, but then again, who doesn't from time to time? He's also an incredibly talented musician and he's always willing to play violin with me from time to time and/or give me feedback on my own piano skills. It's a bit hard to understand him at first, but once you've spent enough time around him, it's pretty easy to see what he means, since he's always saying exactly what he thinks... Well. Most of the time. I can't help but worry that he's not telling me everything sometimes..."
Staff + Ramshackle
🩺 Heinrich (Aka "Dr. V"/"Doc"): "What do you call a doctor who graduated at the top of his class? Doctor. What do you call a doctor who graduated at the bottom of his class? Doctor. Joking aside, I actually have no doubt that the Doc is good at his job! But... He's really bad at words. Like painfully bad at words. Since my Overblot, I haven't really gotten the chance to talk to him about it but... Phew... He wasn't really the most helpful." 🩷 Kiyuu ( @/nrc-asteryn-crew)(Aka "Kiki"/"Yuu2"): 🐦‍⬛Yuuto (@/nrc-asteryn-crew)
RSA
🥀Minerva (Aka "Min"/"Minnie"): "My best friend... Or so I thought. I haven't spoken to her since her last visit. It's probably for the best, though. I'm still really mad at her... But... I can't deny that I miss her, too. I really hope she stops by to apologize at some point..." 🦝Eugene (No nicknames): "Haven't met him, but I know he exists. Apparently he's in the same situation as I am, thanks to Minerva's interference, I guess..."

Nah, I don't mind rambling it's just longer than replies on Tumblr will allow.
The wonderful and difficult thing about First is there is not much to go off of even for someone who read First's story in Hyrule Historia. And there's only a few people who have roped him in so it's not like there's a wealth of fannon to build from either.
I personally see him as heartbreakingly tragic. Guy tried to fight evil and ended up locked in a dungeon for years. He was finally freed only when Demise was already a huge problem and could honestly have been so bitter for it. Dude was asked to lead the people when he'd spent years being left to rot. Add to that the goddesses loftwing (who looks a lot like Crimson) basically challenged him of "Are you worthy to be my rider?" And he still tried. He still died defending the people while Hylia raised Skyloft above the cloud barrier. He could have been "look, y'all want me to save you, but you made me so I can't. Maybe I could have (and been willing to) if I hadn't been chained in a dungeon for years..." But he had people he loved enough to go fight even though he had no chance.
@bokettochild has a wonderful characterization of First in her Blood Between Us series. I know she also is rewriting it but seeing First interact with the heroes was one of my first fics where they included him. He's so observant and almost unnervingly accurate of the heroes that get dumped in his lap.
I need to catch up on @adrift-in-thyme 's Give the Lion Fangs but everything else I've read by them is amazing.
And I still didn't answer all the questions but if you're looking for First content, I think I have one more fic rec with his direct characterization in it and one where they paint Warriors in a similar light as a sort of becoming First or channeling him... I don't know it tickles something at the back of my brain Involving First but that's so probably partly because First has a scarf but his is red.
Wow, thank you! That's some great thought food.
Yeah, most of the things I see of First is some mix of Legend, Time, and Warriors. He's got that sense of jadedness usually associated with Legend and Time, he's got that sense of duty where he'd do what's asked of him no matter its effects on him(like every Link). From what I've been looking through, he's very much a Link, and it makes sense seeing as he's their predecessor. The difference is that the first and main source of his trauma and struggles are the people he's called to protect, and yet he still protects them and gives his life for them even after all they'd done to him. A kind man would've turned his back, yet First didn't.
I did love the characterization of First in The Blood Between Us, it leans more into the jadedness that I think would set First apart from the others. Even Time and Legend, who in canon and fanon are the most jaded, don’t compare to what I'm seeing and working on making First into. He's tired, he's seen not just the worst of the darkness in the world (Demise) but some of the worst of the world itself, humans included. But he hasn't just seen it, he's experienced it.
Tell me if I'm wrong, because I have limited experience with anything related to First
But as I see it, he has that unbreakable hero's spirit, but he is broken. He's lost hope in humanity itself, the people are who he will protect but he doesn't hold any hope or trust in them. He still fights, and he will always fight (he is reincarnated to fight again and again), he will always protect the people of hyrule, he will serve his purpose. He will get up no matter what happens to him, he's unbreakable in that sense just like every single one of his reincarnations, but he has broken in that he can't truly trust or believe in anyone but himself and his goddess.

TMNTposting Raphael edition (Part 1):
I have a confession to make. I've been lying to you all...my fave......is actually Raphael 😂
When I was growing up watching TMNT Donatello was always my favorite turtle, mostly because I was kin assigned the smart, purple turtle when we did those playground roleplay things elementary school kids did in the early 2000s. But during my journey rewatching TMNT 87, and 03 I've grown so SO attached to Raphael it's silly.
This guy. This dude. He's probably one of the most misunderstood characters in universe (and kind of in fanon as well) besides Leonardo. Raphael, no matter which animated iteration, gets himself into trouble because of his terrible impulse control (Woah me fr), which is linked to his "anger issues" which admittedly he does kind of have, but there's so much more to unpack there than just "oh he angy".
Well, except 87 Raphael but he's special and I'll get to him later.
03 Raph definitely has the most obvious actual blind rage. Fourth episode into the entire series he goes into a blind rage and tries attacking Mikey with a metal table leg when he loses a sparring match against his orange younger brother. Except...he kinda actually doesn't. Yeah he gets mad, for sure he got really mad, but something to note about it is he actually goes into a dissociative state before he attacks Mikey, he immediately apologizes when he's lucid again, and he runs off to cool his head which leads to him meeting Casey and teaching the same lessons Splinter has told him to Casey Jones. (Honestly the besties ever. good for them). And the reason Raph gets so angry? It's not just that Mikey beats him, Mikey eggs him on the entire time. Like I mentioned in my Mikey post, 03 Mikey is an instigator, he's constantly pushing all of his brothers buttons because he thinks it's funny. He does it on purpose so he knows what's coming for him, when his brothers (usually Raph) finally snap. That's not to say that Raph should have beaten his brother with a table leg at all, because he still spends his time learning his lesson through trying to reign in Casey, but his anger was a little more, in lack of better terms, justified than some of the other Raph-Mikey blowouts we've seen (cough12cough).
03 Raph is actually just such a polite, sweet little guy. He has a heart of gold, and tries so hard to protect him family, even until his last breath. He'll help blind old ladies, he gives old clothes and blankets to the homeless, heck his instinct when he's in his last moments in Same as It Never Was was to crawl over to Leo in an attempt to protect his big brother.
This guy's biggest fear is being the one behind the Shredder mask, and hurting his family. Literally, he fears himself, and his anger. He's so, so much more than the family hot-head.
I love this guy so much. It's great watching him develop as a character and cope with his anger without having to dig into the same lesson all the time of "oooh Raph you're angry. Anger is bad Raphael. That's a no no Raphael."
Which is what bothers me so much about 2012 Raph. They spend so much time making a joke about his anger issues it's baffling it was a choice the writers made. Oh to be a fly on the wall when they made all the questionable writing choices in 2012. Like, you'll have moments where Splinter will straight up tell his son "you remind me of my evil not-brother who was the reason my wife died lolololol", and you'll have other moments where they're like "oh aha he ran away and quit the team for the 27th time. Silly Raphael." and I genuinely do not understand why they treat him like this? 2012 Raph, fundamentally, is still the same as other Raphael's. He's got the anger issues, he uses sais, he wears red, but the way they present his anger is just. Weird. They'll have him punch or swat at his brothers just for existing, and not acknowledge it at all, visual gags or whatever. And then they'll also go "ooga booga he's so bad and his anger is bad", and then force him to learn the "anger bad" lesson for the nth time....only to wipe it from his character development again.
Once again, this kid has a heart of gold. He's the turtle equivalent of a Disney Princess. He took care of a pet turtle for, presumably years. He cared for Spike a lot! And...then they just rip that away from him to create a new villain who tries to eliminate his brothers because he used to vent to his pet (being the one way Splinter told him was "healthy" with dealing with his anger). Which? Okay way to punish him for trying to deal with his anger in a way that wasn't beating the snot out of something. (also what the actual fuck was that 180 they did having Slash go "I've always admired you Leonardo"???? HUH???)
But...then you have Chompy. Arguably the only thing they have ever given 2012 Raph without violently ripping it away for laughs, or to teach him some kind of lesson. He does give Chompy back to Tokka for a moment but she gives him back realizing they're both super attached to each other and stuff. Having the moment of Raph admitting he cares about Chompy was so perfect because it finally had a moment where he felt like Raphael.
other beautiful moments from 2012 Raph:
-literally just barn arc.
-"angry Donnie you're so silly and funny and- oh wait Donnie stop-"
-when he gets smacked with a brick by 87 Raphael (sorry I still play favs)
Ok back to more lighthearted Raphposting.
Rise Raph is actually such a fun take on the character. It's so interesting to see him being put into the role usually reserved for Leonardo, being the oldest and being the leader. At first he seems pretty well put together, and different than the other Raphael but. Nope! He still rushes into danger like a kid at a busy intersection during rush hour. The difference being, he learns to reign in his impulse control ever so slightly because he's brothers are all arguably more unhinged than he is. Especially Donnie and Mikey.
His temper in Rise seems to take somewhat of an inspiration from 03, having him dissociate into a rage, though the tone of it is vastly different than 03. Which, I think is fine because Rise always had a lighter tone than 03, and 12. The intention of it is a lot different than turning 12 Ralph's issues into a silly haha, and throughout the series we see how the pressure of being the oldest weighs upon the guy, changing the tone of his issues as the series progressed.
The season finale four parter was genuinely good for Raph's character arc all things considered. Him finally cracking under the pressure only to learn his family will be there for him the way he's always been there for him is beautiful. Him being the one who sees Splinter's memories with his mom? Amazing. And the messed up thing? He sees protecting his family as his duty and purpose despite being a kid himself. Kinda like 03 Raph.
The movie also finally gave us that Leo-Raph dynamic older TMNT fans have craved from the series, but the roles are still reversed. With Raph still being responsible and wanting Leo to take things seriously while Leo does whatever he wants and has ✨impulsive sparkle✨. Getting to see Raph finally let loose and be a normal teenager again, joining in on the silly fun by the end of the movie..Mwah. thank you.
This post is getting long so I'll go into 87 Raphael in his own post. I have way too much to say about him I'm sorry..

Puppet Link? nahh dude!
okay okay okay okay guys guys guys I have been struck with a horrifyingly delicious thought
So, eow puppet Link yes? our little guy puppet Link, cool dude, you agree? despite my use of it here, I was not aware of the use of the phrase "Puppet Link" until a few moments ago and it got me thinking (or more so got me staring at it for a while then thinking but that's besides the point): what if "Puppet Link" isn't quite the right phrase, what if this is just Link. Just Link, not puppeteer-ed or coerced or anything of the sort. Just. Link.
Now, I am very much an enjoyer of EOW Hero of Legend Link, but this doesn't have to do with that, suspension of disbelief and enjoying alternate realities with the fictional characters, okay?
And yes I know there are a lot of plot holes but give me a minute,
"But Lamp," You call over my fence, "The eyes! His eye in the first trailer were black/brown/specifically not red but now they are! that must mean magic kerfuffery! And, he was fighting Gannon there too!" Yes, I will admit that this is the main hole in my idea, but... character development? at least for the second point, they might have had a pleasant picnic (ignoring the fact that this is beast Gannon/downfall timeline Gannon and therefore can't talk), and they sorted out their differences! Now, the eyes are a bit of a problem, but I don't know dude, contacts? they got smoothies who's to say they don't have contacts and Link wanted to show off his new vibe
"Okay, say I believe you, but the Spirit of the Hero!" You say, worried for my quickly depleting sanity, "Hylia wouldn't let her hero fall to the dark side!" Now, I won't claim to know everything about Zelda lore and all that jazz, but in my mind the Spirit of the Hero isn't tied to Link. It's tied to the Triforce of Courage. I know that that is a nitpick-ey distinction to make, because the Triforce of Courage is intrinsically tied to Link, but I am making it nonetheless. Also, simply having a piece the Triforce certainly doesn't stop you from being evil. Gannon has and always has had the Triforce of Power, the Triforce is simply a piece of magical essence that plants itself on a mortal being, and has nothing to do with if they are "good" or "bad". And yes, there's the argument of the Triforce of Courage wouldn't have chosen Link if he was going to be evil, but think back to that first trailer again, what was the one thing Link did? He shot arrows at the gem holding Zelda, our unequivocal hero, shattering it, and freeing her. Thus allowing the hero of this story the chance to do said hero-ing. (I am in no way shape or form saying that Link is more heroic than Zelda in eow, or that Zelda's efforts should be diminished, just that Link did technically get the ball rolling, no more than Impa does in most of the Zelda titles). With this established we can all agree that Link did need to be there for the world to be saved, and the all knowing Dorito probably knows this, too so it makes sense in world for Link to still have the Triforce.
"BUT," I hear you say, "what about Hylia? The Golden Goddess still wouldn't let her hero fall!" And I give you Zelda, the only person(people?) in known Hylian history to have the blood of the Goddess, one of which was the Goddess reborn. Zelda, who is on the path to saving Link. Who is without a doubt more of a servant of Hylia than Link ever was. And we all know the Goddess(es) play with Hylians like pieces on a chessboard, do you really think they care about how to get from point A to point B as long as it gets done? Do you really think Hylia "Hylia loves her child soldiers" the Goddess, really cares about if her knight is bad for just a little while? If it all ends up fine in the end?
"But it's a choob/toon graphic game, it can't be that dark!" Did you really just say that? (you didn't, I did, but again, suspension of disbelief) DID YOU REALLY JUST SAY THAT! (I have actually seen this, I think it might have been a joke, but it was "bla bla Link and Zelda seeing they have detailed physical manifestations: we're not getting a happy ending this time, are we") IS LINK'S AWAKENING A JOKE TO YOU?????? that one has one of the most fucked up plots, and it's remake's graphics are very clearly a huge inspiration for EOW's.
(that is a side tangent for another day, the fact that tons of the LA sprites are used makes me so so so happy, but also so scared because that game is so emotionally hitting you with an iron mallet to the face)
I swear there was another point I wanted to dispute, but I can't think of it soooooooooo
But yeah! I love puppet Link, but we've also had so much puppet already (TP and TotK Zeldas, there might be others too), and I think it would be kinda cool if it wasn't puppet Link, and he was just straight up evil :P
You've heard of "what if the bad guys were good?" get ready for "what if the good guys were bad?", a totally never done before thing.
Anyways, yeah, having playable Zelda isn't a new thing for the Zelda franchise, but I'm pretty sure having only playable Zelda is. Like, a game specifically centered around Zelda, and nobody else. So, new things aren't entirely out of the picture.
Do I really think that this is the way the game will go? No, not really, but it was fun to think about, and I hope it gave anyone who reads through this the same amount of whimsey, thank you for coming to my ted talk. goodbye!

For reference, there is a plot to revive Ganon in Zelda II
The game establishes Ganon's death in the first game, his "heart" (ashes/remains/magic?) is corrupting the land and I don't know if they mean that literally or figuratively.
And whats more, Ganon's minions are still a threat and have grouped together to rampage through the land.
zeldadungeon.net/wiki/File:Moblins-Goriyas-Attack-Town.png
This is an image of Ganon's adorable doggy minions (Moblins and the forgotten Goriya) rampaging through a town as citizens flee.
But as Link is trying to obtain the Triforce of Courage to awaken the sleeping than Ganon's minions realize they can bring back Ganon back by killing Link and sprinkling his dying blood on Link.
So Ganon's minions called out new soldiers and whilst Link is trying to brave the King's challenges, the monsters are roaming around searching for him with a hit squad!
Speaking of which, the manual designated the enemy forces as two factions.
There's the Overworld enemies like the Moblins, Goriyas (anyone remember those guys) and River Zora which are Ganon's minions and Mazoku(Monsters/Demons), than there are the Palace guardians like the Iron Knuckles, Fokka and Stalfos Knights (skeletons of Hylian soldiers) which are non evil beings that guard the palaces for the GReat King.
But Ganon's minions are only a sideplot, infact every single boss including the final one relates to the Guardians placed by the King of Hyrule! So the "Revive Ganon" plot is more or less just used to explain all the random encounters in the overworld.
That said, it doesn't matter if Link dies to one of the King's guardian gods in a temple, one of Ganon's monsters, or even falls in lava, if he dies, always be prepared to see "GAME OVER RETURN OF GANON" and Ganon's mocking silhouette.
And given Zelda II's difficulty, you are going to memorize Ganon's mocking laughter by heart once you're done with the game!
indeed
dude... that game was such a pain in the ass to play... i love it to death but i just barely beat it a few years ago

I like your detective stuff! Does he have a nemesis like Sherlock has Moriarty? And was he born mute or did he lose his voice? The sign language is really nice to see in a character!
Tumblr media
Why was this in the 'bashful' gif options
Thanks Anon!! I greatly appreciate the comment~ I myself, also really like my detective stuff and I mean reeeeeeeeeeeeally like it lmao
Otherwise, I'm going to write these answers out as the parts of the story these questions delve into is being currently reworked and some of the answers are kinda up in the air / half canon as of right now. This will probably be a longish answer so I'll put a quick answer up here, and a "read more" underneath that with my ramblings. Quick answers: Was he born mute or did he lose his voice? - He was born mute. Does he have a nemesis? - Yes and no... I've cycled through a few characters but the main one now, without spoiling much, is named F.E.L.I.X.. But I've been working on a couple others who could possibly take over as his main nemesis.
For longer, more rambly answers, keep reading!
So like I said the answer to at least his nemesis part is kind of up the in air atm. I also wanted to expand a little on the mute aspect~
Flint is primarily mute because I tend to view this world in the terms of a video game, in which of course the player would play as the Det. [and as Cy actually who hasn't appeared in the comics yet] and like a lot of video games I always imagined him as being a "silent protag" despite still communicating with the other characters. Like Link in the new BOTW/TOTK games.
The second reason behind it was I just couldn't imagine him with a voice?? No matter how hard I tried, it just felt. Wrong for his character if that makes sense? So I figured "hey why not just give him sign language! How often do you see a deaf or mute main character anyway?" I've started to see more ASL used in shows - most recently in Only Murders in the Building which I LOVE [both the shows and the inclusion/importance of the deaf character in the story] and I thought it would make him a more interesting main character tbh. I also really really REALLY want to learn ASL, as my first grade teacher taught us a bunch when I was a kid but I've sadly forgotten just about all of it as she was just teaching us for fun. It had nothing to do with the class lol.
As for Flint's nemesis[es]! He currently has at least two, one of which is still so under-construction they don't even have a name yet or a design hahahaha.
Originally his nemesis was supposed to be Prof. Specter, aka this guy, whose a literal shadow man. [Cuz. Yah know. Shadow vs Light/Flames?] He was supposed to be almost the Dr. Claw to Flint's Inspector Gadget, but I just never went anywhere with him?? I couldn't really think up anything good tbh, and I felt like Flint easily overpowered him. I also couldn't think up any good reasons for him to BE so evil/want to attack the town etc. So he just became a smaller villain, who currently works under the main big bad. I am a MASSIVE sucker for "opposite" characters - the "good" version vs the "evil" version basically, and I have been actively trying to utilize that in a story of mine FOR YEARS. Think like, Darkwing Duck vs Nega Duck. This shit is my JAM.
Tumblr media
For the first nemesis, his name is F.E.L.I.X. [Force Entity Learning Integrating and eXterminating] Flint, and he's a sort of "evil" version of Flint. [These are all cheebs of the various forms Felix currently takes in story]
Tumblr media
The littlest dude is ACTUALLY Felix, [he starts off by possessing a flash drive and transforming it] and the rest are just later forms he takes throughout the story. Originally he was just some weird little alien computer virus that landed on earth, a la Invader Zim style, here to prepare Earth for conquer by his Mother Program, which is still more or less the case? The reasoning behind him being in Neo Oldesville and him eventually taking on Flint's appearance have changed a lot though.
The main reason I hesitate to call him a nemesis atm is because he was originally just more of a comedic, but still kinda dangerous, character and Felix Flint was originally going to be a sort of split in Felix's personality/code that took life on it's own, separate from Felix, warped by the internet, others personalities, and probably some other villain's code. He was just gonna go kinda crazy as his coding was rewritten too many times and start attacking... but that idea has been scrapped due to the rewrites.
He was also smart, but not in the same ways the Detective is, so they weren't really butting heads like Sherlock/Moriarty do wherein Felix would be besting Flint at every turn or something like that. Instead Flint actually bested Felix pretty easily originally. Felix Flint was basically my solution to fix that major leveling scale issue lol.
The other character, the unnamed one, is a Mad Scientist/Cult leader, whose become basically the 'secret' big bad of what I would call the first season of the story. Idk maybe longer than that? I haven't decided on how long I want this story to be tbh. I'm still working on the character and their storyline and how it intersects with both Flint's and Cy's, (whose the deuteragonist to this story)... but the most I do know/will reveal here is that this Mad Scientist is the leader of a cult that worshiped two aliens that used to exist on planet who promised to help the humanoids [as people are generally referred to here] "ascend to a higher life form" but were later stopped and destroyed by a group of super-hero like super spy sisters who learned that the aliens were in fact extremely hostile and their idea of "ascending to a higher plan" was just assimilating all of this worlds knowledge/tech and then selling off its inhabitants as slaves. I haven't decided if the rest of the world knows this fact, or if the alien characters are considered martyrs or something yet... or even if the rest of the world knew they WERE aliens. Just that they're eventually defeated by these legendary super-spies, and that a small cult remained behind after everyone else moved on from their teachings.
The leader of this new cult basically wants to bring those aliens back - specifically by summoning one of their kin to the world to help fully restore one of the deceased aliens back to life, but what he summons is Felix instead, as the race of aliens the cult worshiped had all been destroyed and absorbed by Felix's Mother Program years ago. Irony at its finest lol.
This new mad scientist/cult leader character is supposed to have very deep ties with Cy, who in turn has pretty deep ties to Flint, and I've been planning on possibly making him a sort of Moriarty to Flint, but I'm still ironing out details.
One reason I haven't quite finished this all yet is because while I am planning on using some religious ideology [is that the right word here? or would mimicry be better] in the cult, I don't necessarily want to make it a "RAWR RAWR RELIGION IS EVIL RAAAWR" kind of situation, since it's specifically that CULTS are evil. I myself was born and raised without religion in my life outside of just being in America, so while I don't believe in any religion at all, I also don't want to be cruel to anyone who does. I do, however, know that a lot of cults use Christianity as a guise to trick their followers into controlling them though.
Mostly I just really want the two aliens from the original cult to look semi like a devil and an angel cuz I thought it'd be hilarious if they were basically the "angel and devil on your shoulders" lmao.
If anyone wants to know more I'm happy to explain even more in detail. I don't care about spoiling things haha I'm not planning on creating a huge comic or anything anytime soon - I mean I would love to turn this series into a game or something in the future but for now I'm just having fun I LOVE talking about my characters/stories.

Ended up reading the copyright infringement lawsuit by that one guy against Bungie 'cos curious
I gotta tell you, if there is anything being revealed about Bungie's writing, it's not plaigarism, it's that that it sounds like a fucking hack job vomiting the contents of an AI told to write a Sci-Fi adventure about the Red Legion; which is about the only thing they have in common as far as genuinely unique items in the story
I've come to the conclusion that dude is going for a marketing thing and hoping he gets enough attention to offset the costs. This is a good audience to try to rope in, with a lot of, "if you liked ____, try this!" senses, but frankly, this is the most generic shit I've ever seen.
Which, again, is both parties. Destiny 2's stuff being explained is generic as fuck. (Our perceived nemesis for a long time was The Darkness, for instance, we don't have a great defense against the accusations of being Basic)
They use communications devices with screens! There's dog-like animals being trained to fight by an alien enemy faction! They have reactors! (I'm not kidding, these are all points brought up, and that really is all the commonality presented)
The main bad guy was a weakling adopted by an exiled wizened badass and trained to be a monstrous warrior almost sounds like a copied item but as specific as that is, it's still just Standard Bad Guy Hero Journey
I started out picking on the guy for his attempts to link shit but now I'm just picking on Destiny for being generic as fuck
Which, granted, I thought it was when I heard about it first. Rise told me that The Darkness was a force for evil while we wield the Light (understood to be true at the time), I just 🤨ed. Vex was a name I had given my depression spells, the Krill, progenitors of the Hive are from Fundament, there's not even a lot of fun Alien Names in basic lore stuff. (Scratching the surface will give you what you're looking for, but I'm still on the rind here)
We're zombies with guns and space magic sounds cool as fuck in a generic sense. That we're fighting The Hive on the Moon.... Seriously? Bug aliens? We're using guns on bug aliens that took over the moon?
The bug aliens are also religious fanatics that use psychic/mind altering magic with rocks that resonate with the sounds of their voices and are also energy vampires that feed off the deaths of their own kind (and everyone else) which does sound immensely better
But it's bug aliens on the moon we fight with guns. So.
I'm pulling from this stuff the same thing as The Locked Away Deformed Frenchman who Falls in Love with a Beautiful Woman thing where you very much can create new and interesting shit from the same modeling clay as everyone else. Details are important.
Good luck, bro

I'M JUST THINKING ABOUT YOUR LINK POST
"At least you feel something"
AT LEAST YOU FEEL SOMETHING, AAAAAAH
Ugh dude head in my hands like. I almost need to relisten to this episode just to take all the Lincoln bits in properly. Matt's done such a good job at slowly making him less and less emotive and more and more closed off- and he really took the fucking LEGO bit and ran with it to serve a greater purpose (case in point with that quote!). I just need Grant and/or Marco to give that boy a hug aaaaah. Loved how straight he was with Norm in that convo near the end too, but I'd def need to give it a relisten before saying anything more specific on the matter.
(I'm so sorry but if you'll excuse me taking this as an opportunity to vent a bit-)
😅🙃 Also trying to avoid paying too much attention to some of the questionable takes I'm already seeing on him lol. Especially regarding the teen fact (which for the record I liked) aha like. y'all we already knew that Lincoln was a jealous kid when it came to his dads' affection- it's almost as though his dads created an environment in which they were his only source of attention (and really just. his whole world) so he wound up being very possessive over them. He isn't like. Evil cause of one bad thing he did as a child (and at least we know from Matt that this is "the worst thing he's ever done")- nor do I think it tracks to say that this somehow speaks to the kind of person he is in general. Rather, he absolutely is still very possessive of his dads (decreasingly so over the course of the season but still), but he's not like- the jealous type outside of that? I certainly don't think so anyways, not from what we've seen this season, and certainly not relative to some of the other PCs actually. I'm also seeing his current state be used to vilify him, which doesn't surprise me cause the fandom has villainized his dissociative episodes on many other occasions, but it still irks me lol.
I was happy that Scary was at least trying to look out for him regarding the LEGO stuff! But. Gah. It's like someone needs to break through to him but they've waited way too long for that be possible through a simple, "you wanna talk about it?"- y'know? Really looking forward to seeing how this develops. Ah! And regarding some of the comments you left on another post of mine- I totally agree that Lincoln's real arc (specifically in relation to his dad) is anything but over and dealt with! Again, really looking forward to (but also terrified of) what's to come!

8, 11, and 74 for the fic writer ask game !!
From this ask game:
8. Do you prefer the beginning, middle, or end of a story?
Well. The only answer i can give is that I tend to dislike the beginning of a story. I am an impatient creature sometimes. I prefer to get into the thick of things quickly once the basics are laid out. Yes, this is ironic considering that FFXIV is one of my favorite games and it takes its sweet time in ARR. I can make exceptions.
(Maybe that’s why i tend not to click with ghibli films as well as a lot of people seem to. I still think they’re pretty good, I just also think they usually feel meandering to me until like the last half hour)
11. Link your three favorite fics right now
I mean. Now you’ve given me the challenge of finding three fics i actually Really Like. Do you know what sort of challenge you’ve given me. Anyways…
Spectrum by 1nky (@that1nkyone on tumblr) - an Undertale fic where Gaster wrenches himself out of nonexistence after the true pacifist ending and makes a Huge Problem of himself by turning sans and Papyrus into big ol bone dragons with gaster blasters for heads. And sans refuses to helpfully divulge his and gaster’s history. Features high quotients of Papyrus being The Coolest Dude Ever.
That Twisted Mirror by MeaslyFurball (@generic-sonic-fan on tumblr)- a still-in-progess sonic fic about shadow, rouge, and omega getting blasted into a mirror world where, among other things, shadow’s destructive grief spiral was never stopped, omega is still loyal to (a much less evil) robotnik, and sonic seems nowhere to be found. Features high levels of personal issues being expressed by beating the shit out of your copy.
The Deal by yonawaru (if they have a tumblr I don’t know what it is) - also still in progress, a FFXIV fic where, after an unspecified Bad Ending, Alisaie gets timelooped back to the start of A Realm Reborn, now in the role of warrior of light, and is tormented by the memories of the previous timeline, especially the absence of the previous WoL. Features high levels of Elfling Angst.
Also honorable mention to He Who Wears Her Brother’s Face, also by yonawaru. A one shot where upon seeing how much less of a twat her brother is after heavensward, Alisaie seriously contemplates whether he must be possessed. A favorite of mine mostly because I love when people lean on the ~10% of the Leveilleur twins’ dynamic that’s a little fucked up. It’s like 90% sweet but oh boy. The Potential Complications.
74. You’ve posted a fic anonymously. How would someone be able to guess that you’d written it?
A nearly in media res beginning, a strong aversion to the use of epithets, and a high degree of curtness, I would think. Also maybe a person getting Creatured.
