Double teaching joys today!

A couple of the boys were watching me cast on for someone and decided that they needed to learn the cast on I used, because it was so fast. (I do the long tail cast on, the version where you hold the yarn in one hand and most of the motion is with the needle). I got the "wait, look what I just did, that's so cool" look TWICE from one of them as he figured it out.

And I had pulled up Ravelry to help one of the students look for something to make. (This kid has TAKEN to knitting, and was looking for a bit more of a challenge, and I goofed and returned the book with the pattern they were interested in to the library). I realised afterwards that I had been less clear than I probably ought to have about the fact that that wasn't a site for 12-year-olds. Given that I had an e-mail address for their mom, I dropped her a line to clarify and apologise. She replied with a huge thank you for teaching her kid to knit. They have taught her now, and the both of them knit together. (This kid really needed something productive and positive to do too, last I heard from the mom she was a bit worried about some of the decisions they were making.) I'm still smiling over this.

As much as I do find some entertainment with it, one thing I do hate about the usual gaggle of "foreigners who are in awe of the Philippines/other developing countries" genre of YouTube videos is when they try to give reasons as to why my country is cool is because "it's soooo much cheaper there" and like yeah?

The cost of living prices are radically different and your country's currency is much more powerful than mine despite the economic downturn of the dollar of course it's cheaper for you. It isn't for us, but good for you I guess?

DUMAGUETE, NEGROS ORIENTAL -- Independent cheesecake dessert chain "Cherie's Cheesecake House" (CCH) recently announced its relocation from "Jekyll's Arcade" on Cervantes Street to the intersection of Hibbard Avenue, close to the private educational institution "Silliman University" (SU) is currently pending for confirmation.

Disney XD News highlighted the current state of CCH, noting that two (2) construction workers at "Jekyll's Arcade" have dismantled one shop and are slated for in-store demolition. In addition, concerning SU, adjacent to the Portal West building, the local photo supply store "Haru Studio" might soon close its doors, or turn left via Silliman Avenue to vacate its space, potentially making way for Cherie's Cheesecake House.

The news team attempted to find CCH at Blessed Homes Subdivision (BHS) in Barangay Daro, where it was said to be a source delivery store with GrabFood's map precision, yet it was nowhere to be found. This implies that, in theory, the cheesecake dessert chain was secretly handling delivery orders from an undisclosed home site.
