We’re in the age of paperless trade. What once required stacks of forms, carbon copies, couriered bills of lading, and manual ledger entries is now being processed, signed, and submitted online—often with just a few clicks.
Digital freight documentation is no longer the future. It’s very much the present. But as we make the shift, something else becomes more urgent than ever: data security.
At PORTLINK GHANA LIMITED, based in Ghana, we've seen firsthand how digital freight systems are improving efficiency—clearing cargo faster, reducing costs, even lowering the chances of human error. But they also come with new risks. Ones you can’t always see until something goes wrong.
What Exactly Is Digital Freight Documentation?
To keep things simple—digital freight documentation refers to any shipping, customs, or commercial paperwork shared, stored, or signed electronically. That might include:
Electronic Bills of Lading (eBLs)
