#Lots of Bowuigi interactions. :-)

AU, where everything that happen in the movie remain the same but with Beauty and the Beast’s element:

Bowser wants to make a good romantic impression on Peach, so he decides to enlist Luigi's help. Luigi is literally held captive in an iron cage, suspended above hot lava. Bowser offers him a deal: if Luigi teaches him how to be romantic, he will provide him with a comfortable bedroom and the best food, as long as Luigi agrees to help.

With no other choice, Luigi accepts the offer but insists on one of his condition: Bowser must release everyone from their cages. Bowser agrees and orders his minions to free all the prisoners.

Once free, Bowser keeps his promise by giving Luigi a room where he can feel comfortable and relaxed, though Luigi is still his prisoner nonetheless. In return, Luigi helps Bowser learn how to be sweet and romantic.

The first lesson is about Bowser's behavior; he needs to stop being so angry all the time. Luigi encourages him to act kindly toward his minions with a kind smile as he watch Bowser interact from a far. Next comes table manners. Luigi is shocked to see Bowser munching his food like a wild animal. When Bowser struggles to use his silverware because they're too small (since they were made for Peach to use), Luigi lifts his bowl of soup to Bowser, who copies the gesture. They mockingly cheer and drink their soup from their bowls.

Throughout Luigi’s time with Bowser and helping him, there’s something sweet and almost kind. But sure, Bowser was mean and coarse and unrefined. But now he is dear, but yet that makes him unsure of himself. Luigi wonders why he never noticed this before.

With a glance, Luigi captures Bowser’s attention, at least that is what Bowser thought he saw. When Luigi touch his hand, he does doesn’t shudder at Bowser’s paw. It’s a moment of connection that Bowser struggles to comprehend. He tries to convince himself it’s just a fleeting thought, yet something in Luigi’s gaze suggests otherwise.

But then Luigi’s never looked at Bowser that way before than Peach does.

This feeling is new and a bit alarming to Luigi, and who’d have ever thought that this could be. True, Bowser is no Prince Charming, but there’s something in him that Luigi simply didn’t see.

There is one additional lesson that Bowser wants Luigi to teach him: waltzing.

However, Luigi has never waltzed before and isn’t sure how to teach it. Luckily, Kamerk offers to instruct them both, as he knows a lot about waltzing. But first, they need proper attire.

Later, Bowser lets out an annoyed huff as his suit feels constricting after getting dressed. Just then, Luigi appears at the top of the grand staircase, and Bowser gasps in awe.

Luigi looks beautiful in his sparkling emerald green ballgown, complete with gloves. As they face each other, both sporting slight blushes, Bowser cannot believe how pretty Luigi looks and how well the gown suits him.

They are then led to the ballroom, which Kamerk has decorated with purple drapery and three bouquets of piranha plants to create a romantic atmosphere.

As they stand in the center, Bowser bravely inches closer to Luigi, wrapping his left arm around Luigi’s waist. Luigi gasps silently before placing his hand on Bowser’s right hand.

Kamerk summons instruments to play and begins instructing them on how to waltz properly. The music starts, and Bowser takes the lead, guiding Luigi around the ballroom. As they dance, they make eye contact as instructed by Kamerk, but Luigi's nerves jolt when he notices Bowser staring at him.

In Bowser’s gaze, Luigi sees a softness and gentleness that surprises him.

There may be something there that wasn’t there before.

Pretty bold of Bowser to ask Luigi for romantic advice when there was no evidence in the movie to suggest that Luigi would know anything about romance. 😆

In all seriousness though, this is actually a really cute idea, anon! :) When the movie came out in 2023, I remember there being a good amount of movie Bowuigi fan fictions on Ao3, but I don't think I've seen a Bowuigi fan fiction that has both the movie elements and Beauty and the Beast elements (keep in mind that my hiatus pertained to both Tumblr and Ao3).

I'm also curious as to who would be Gaston in this AU idea. My first guess would be Mario, but honestly...I don't know. I know movie Mario hates bullies and would stand up to Bowser, but I don't think he's the type of person to be so willing to kill Bowser. I would honestly lean more towards Peach as being Gaston in this idea because throughout the movie, she was the one so determined to stop Bowser and his plan.

Also, I love the possible AU idea that Luigi is having a good time with Bowser while poor Mario is having a panic attack about finding his brother and the terrifying thought that Luigi could very well already be dead. 😆

2 completed oneshots, plus four chapters of my multi-chaptered fic

What work are you most proud of (regardless of kudos/hits)?

Wicked Game. It really is my baby and it’s wild to me how much it has progressed in my head from its original conception to what it is now/ what it is going to be. My planning doc for the fic is MASSIVE (currently 23 pages) and it gets fleshed out even more every few chapters as I figure out new details and come up with new ideas for upcoming scenes. It’s a work that I’ve been semi-consistent about, and intend to be even more consistent about updating. It takes up a lot of my mental room, and it’s rewarding to see how many people love it and look forward to seeing more.

What work of yours has the most hits?

Wicked Game, easily. It has the benefit of being published for nearly 3 years though, and having several chapters.

What work of yours got more feedback than you expected?

Maybe Reflections, or Seeing Double? I don’t know, it always surprises me when people leave comments on smut lol. Not for a bad reason, but I usually expect to see more bookmarks than comments on smut for… various reasons.

Favorite title you used

Seeing Double. It’s still my favorite, well over a year later. I genuinely just find it fun, considering what the fic is about.

If you use song lyrics, which artist’s songs did you pull from the most?

I’m realizing that most of my fics with song lyric titles are all WIPs lol. Wicked Game is the only one currently published with lyrics being the reason it’s titled that. So, Chris Isaak, though I admit the Ursine Vulpine version was the one I heard first and used as my initial inspiration.

Pairing you wrote the most for this year?

Bowuigi. Easy. I’m well into the 30 thousands for the chapters and fics regarding them, and it may even be close to 40k.

Favorite pairing you wrote for this year?

Brain Dead/ Dead Tired/ Danny Fenton X Tim Drake from the DpxDC crossover

My favorite stages to write are the pining stage and the “basically an old married couple” stage. While Bowuigi is fun being able to establish and build so far, we’re not quite that far along with them. So, with both of my Tim x Danny fics having them be previously established, I had a lot of fun with their interactions.

What work was the quickest to write?

Bewitched. I wrote it roughly in four days, on and off between work and some other things going on. It also felt like it went fast, because a lot of it was the dialogue, and once I got that to flow how I wanted, we were golden.

If we’re talking outside of this year, though, Seeing Double was the quickest work I’ve ever written. I’m about 90% sure I wrote it in an evening. I stayed up LATE to finish and post, but I wrote it within one day.

What work took you the longest to write?

Wicked Game, for obvious reasons that it’s 10 chapters and I’ve been working on it off and on for almost 3 years. I was initially working on it during a very turbulent point in my life, but I’m hoping that with certain things being settled and having a new job with a more defined work life balance (as well as not having a crazy manager), I’ll be able to be more regular about updating.

How many WIP’s do you have in your docs for next year?

I don’t know about getting them all out next year, but I have about 9, if you’re including Wicked Game.

What’s your longest work of the year?

Wicked Game. I wrote about 34k for it this year, and even overall, it’s my largest work.

What’s your shortest work of the year?

Reflections, by less than 200 words.

What WIP are you taking into next year with you?

Obviously Wicked Game is coming with me. I have way too much to cover and a lot of writing to do to not work on it more next year.

Beyond that? Probably One With Eternity, One with You and Slipping Through Your Fingers.

The first is a JayVik epilogue. I know in very broad strokes how Arcane ends and all the major spoilers, but I haven’t sat down and watched it yet because life has gotten in the way. I want to at least fully watch Season 2, and potentially rewatch Season 1 with the new lense, before I write OWEOWY. However, even with what I do know and what I have seen from bits of pieces online and fanworks, this is going to be a DOOZY.

Slipping Through Your Fingers is a BillFord fic, from Gravity Falls. I stumbled across an interesting prompt for something to happen if Ford showed up at the Theraprism as part of Bill’s rehabilitation, and it started chewing on my brain. I’m also battling with myself to keep it relatively short. It’s a fix I will probably only post when I’m done writing it, just because if how some things play out.

Your favorite character to write this year?

Bowser. He’s a lot of fun to write for, and once I find his voice, it comes very easily. He’s very funny, in ways he doesn’t necessarily intend.

The character that gave you the most trouble writing this year?

Tim Drake. I’m coming from outside of DC comics and got invested through the DPxDC crossover. While I had some previous knowledge on the Batfamily in general, I haven’t ever been entrenched in DC. I’m trying to get more acclimated with the characters in general, and trying to balance various parts of a character I’m not as familiar with was challenging. 

I do intend to read more of his comics though, as reading Red Robin was a massive help to giving me a feel for what he’s like outside of fanon. I’ve been advised that a truly great look at Tim is the Young Justice run with him in it, and it’s probably next on the list to read. 

What’s one pairing you want to explore next year?

JayVik and BillFord are major ones, of course. JayVik kills me with both the angst of them being at odds at each other and being able to see at multiple points of time where things could have been very, very different, as well as the fact they made each other their fated soulmates. That they are destined to find one another in every universe, every timeline, because of their own actions, interference, and because they’re so connected to one another. Fucks me up in the best way.

BillFord… It can be played in a humorous way, it can be played in a heart-crushing way. There’s a lot of depth and variety to ways you can explore these two. I love the idea of Bill eventually getting his shit together and becoming a better triangle and Ford, against all better judgement, still allowing him close enough to grow on him like a fungus all over again.

However, this is a pairing that has been horribly toxic to Ford as well, and he has every reason to not forgive Bill. He may very well be too traumatized from everything that happened to even consider gwrring close to him again. The best, healthiest ending for Ford is him moving on and living his best life. And Bill gets left behind alone, because he can simply never get over it, because even if he gets his shit together, it’s simply too late in those scenarios. It’s fun to think about and I might explore either path more in the coming year.

Also technically CaitVi and TimeBomb (I am…horribly, horribly tempted to do a rewrite of S2 of Arcane. Still need to watch the season in its entirety, but knowing what I know… There are a lot of things where the pacing was not perfect, characterization was shifted for the plot and narrative, certain things were skipped over, other things were not allowed to settle. There wasn’t much follow-through for other ideas proposed. I need to watch S2, and watch it all again in its entirety, but I already have some thoughts.)

Also saw a very compelling argument for MelVi the other day, and we all know that's how it starts lol

I’m trying to maintain consistency and make sure I’m leaving appropriate hints as things develop further. Trying to keep those little tidbits understandable enough you can see it when you look back, but not obvious.

Wicked Game, with 381 around the end of the year. This number does include my own responses, but this fic is 10 chapters and I often have people come back every so often when I update. Plus, it’s almost 3 years old. It’s easy to collect comments when you’re multichapter and old lol

Did you do any collaborative works this year?

I did not

I was, however, a bit of a sounding board for @eleventhhourfactor while rhey were writing their Halloween Bowuigi fic Light Reading for a Dark Evening, and that was a lot of fun!

Did you write any gifts this year?

No. Closest thing was writing Bewitched for the Halloween Bowuigi server event, but no gifts

No. I’ve got a bad habit of not being super interactive with the communities I write for, and it bites me in the ass when I feel like I’m not really part of them. I’m trying to be more involved and active, now that I have the emotional bandwidth for it after leaving my old job

For my fics that I’ve had going a while/ that I do a lot of planning for, I tend to have a dedicated playlist for it. Both Wicked Game and Dollar for Your Sadness (WIP) have their own playlists that I have been building slowly, usually when the mood strikes me

Beyond that? A LOT of Unlike Pluto. He has a lot of music and damn near all of it is good and it scratches the brain just right.

Bewitched, if we’re not including chapters from Wicked Game.

It was a lot of fun to write, especially before the deadline of Halloween. I technically did not make it, since I posted at like 11pm Halloween night in my timezone, so it shows as November 1st, but it’s all good lol

Favorite line/passage you wrote this year?

Honestly, probably Bowser’s rant in chapter 10 when he’s telling Luigi that he’s selfish and to let people believe he’s a tyrant and a menace if it keeps his people safe.

“And don’t misunderstand me. I’m not- I’m not some selfless goody-two-shoes hero like your brother.” He nearly spat the word out, that underlying animosity surfacing in an instant. “I’m not. I am selfish. I have and do still serve myself first. I will take care of me and mine above anyone else, and I will flatten anyone who tries to keep me from doing that. It just happens that me and mine includes my kingdom. So let them think I’m a tyrant. That I’m cruel and horrible and a plague upon all other kingdoms. To them, I will be. I am not a doormat, I am not weak, I will not be played with. I will be the monster under their bed and their cautionary tale to scare children for centuries if I have to be.”

Biggest surprise while writing this year?

That people enjoy my prose?

I joke that my writing is my stream of consciousness bullshit put into a written form, but it does feel like that sometimes. I struggle to differentiate my writing style from others, especially because I do often pull from and emulate and imitate things I like in others’ writing. I genuinely don’t feel like my writing is very distinctive sometimes, so it’s always a pleasant surprise that it comes up so often that people find it very distinctive and find that it flows well.

oooh im so glad theres new questions! in an old post you mentioned peach was originally gonna sign her name on the contract to help luigi. would bowser have let luigi go? was there originally gonna be a different ending?

There wasn't a different ending planned because I'm not a writer who plans out everything before I start. Eg, when I posted Day 20 I didn't have more than a few short interactions written up for Day 30 (though I had more of Day 21, while Day 27 was barely a vague idea of a post-ending bonus scene). It took the first trailer - not the one the bowuigi crowd lost their minds over - for me to get the bare bones of the rest of Days finally hashed out. A lot of plot details only make themselves known as I'm writing.

I don't think there ever would've been an ending that didn't involve the contract breaking and Luigi leaving temporarily. But that early into writing (with only Day 1 written), I had no idea how the contract would end up being broken. As soon as Mario showed up in Day 20 it was obvious to me that he'd have to be the one to do most of the legwork, but before that there was a chance it could've been Luigi somehow - or even Bowser himself!

I think I decided against Peach signing her name because Luigi and Bowser's relationship wasn't at a point where it could withstand that. Yes, by then Bowser's aware that he likes Luigi and would be pretty interested in something more intimate and long-term, and yes, Luigi's starting to subconsciously fall for Bowser and find comfort within the castle, however, it's still incredibly fragile.

If given the strings-free choice of Peach or Luigi, Day ~20!Bowser is picking Peach every time*. It's the week of living with both of them (and forcibly being disallowed from flirting with Peach) that helps Luigi get the final leg up there. Luigi is engaged with castle stuff and reciprocating (even if only unintentionally) and Peach... isn't. Don't underestimate how attractive being wanted can be.

*(ok, he's probably going to make at least one play for both, but even that will be a Peach and-Luigi rather than Peach-and-Luigi, if that makes sense, and he'll pivot to just focusing on Peach pretty quick, especially if his flirting towards Luigi is now getting him zapped)

And on Luigi's side, he'd just push down familiar jealousy and disappointment. He's used to being overlooked in favour of someone better. He's not going to fight for feelings he doesn't even know he has.

Getting much more speculative now. If Peach had signed her name then that would've freed up Luigi to find the contract breaker and that side of the plot would've been wrapped up way quicker (Mario&Luigi working together get things done faster than Mario having to recruit a party of misfits). Which means that the final battle with the Capods would've been more of a focus (which means I would've had to have written more actual fight scenes and things were taking long enough as it was!) and I probably would've had the characters converge again during that. Have Bowser and his army show up for the final fight (kinda like him showing up in Day 20, but on a bigger scale).

And in order to make the endgame Bowser/Luigi stick, there would have to be... something happen there. I was pretty determined to stay with Luigi's pov the entire time (yes, Day 16 gave us some Bowser insight, but that was posted post-ending and I tend to prefer sticking with one pov and the restrictions involved with that) so we wouldn't have known what had been going on with Bowser while Luigi was adventuring.

Though, it could be that the act of Luigi asking Bowser enough questions to fill the audience in reminds Bowser that 'oh yeah, I like this guy', with Luigi having a similar 'oh thank goodness, I feel safer with Bowser around... wait, since when has that been the case?!' and that's when Bowser would make his move.

It would probably feel more rebound-y than (I'm hoping!) Day 30 came across, given that there's been a more recent, more successful attempt at Peach (~5 days of being magically married is the closest Bowser's ever gotten - even if it's purely to save a friend, it's still voluntary on her end and that's a win for him). But a relationship start is a relationship start, so that might've been it!

Tl;dr - Yes, Bowser would've let Luigi go and that would've required a different ending, but I didn't have anything planned by that point.

Hello! This is my first time posting here! I’d like to do a sort of intro post.

I just downloaded tumblr last month and I’m not really good at digital art so I may post ficlets or story Ideas as well as pieces I’m working on.

I guess my merits would be as A Bowuigi fic writer in AO3. My most known story would be “The one in the Green Gown” I just loved the Idea of Cinderella but make it Bowuigi.

I sew and craft at times when not in my full time job. Pieces like this princess Peach brooch I made a week ago.

I also really like recreating Jewelry from movies and shows as well as games and other media…anyways just a little intro for me.

Oh and massive nerd here. I had a lot of time growing up so I got into many interests.

Random but whew finally another bowuigi artist/writer who isn't into proship stuff! Too many artists I like end up being creeps, that or while they are not into it are fast to call people antis and block for simply setting up boundaries and keeping a distance when it comes to content or people that make them uncomfortable (like just because you can tolerate a mutual that makes stuff you're not always about doesn't mean everyone else has to tolerate and accept people like that interacting with them ew)

Yeah, I've noticed that it is a pattern for Bowuigi artists I used to like. (I've seen a few artist on Twitter who've been revealed/straight up draw incest. Mainly, Mario n Luigi. I've also seen Bowser n Bowser Jr. IT MAKES NO SENSE.). This has given me a LOT of trust issues in any artist I come across, so I tend to keep my distance from creators.... I should probably learn to unpack that..

I never really understood the appeal of being a proshipper and while I do like to draw n write Bowuigi, I'm not gonna do EVERY request.

I remember a specific artist I used to like on Instagram, then found out about the proshipper stuff they were doing on Twitter and when they got called out, were completely immature. Heck, they ended up with more support from:

A.) The followers that say they don't like the artist, just the safe Bowuigi art/art style (basically the "I just like the art not the artist" argument)

B.) Were from other proshippers in the community

It was weird and I immediately blocked them once they responded immaturely.

I guess the only thing I can say I ship that is 'weird' is Daisy x Mario (I have art of them that'll be kept private for a bit 'til I feel comfortable)

If ya don't ship Bowuigi and you still like my posts/blogs/rambles, it's all good.

There are definitely more decent Bowuigi artists out there, hard to find tho...

💛: What is a popular ship you just can't get behind, and why?

Maybe this one's too easy, but for me, it's Bowuigi. BUT! There's a catch!

I've slandered the ship left and right here on my account, but the truth is most of my frustration towards it is from pure oversaturation. Maybe that's hypocritical coming from a Mareach shipper, but like... go on AO3 and look under the Mareach tag. 4/5ths of those fics are Bowuigi fics in which Mario and Peach are just sorta there, contributing to the plot with varying degrees of relevancy. And that's so fucking annoying holy shit

But as much as I rag on it, there's Bowuigi content I adore! Within the context of the game's universe especially, because it could actually work. I'm especially weak for Stepdaddy Luigi content, because a dude bonding with his brother's maybe-evil-maybe-just-an-asshole nemesis on the grounds of a shared love for Jr. and/or the Koopalings? Yes?????

The Bowuigi that I don't like is stuff that's explicitly from the movie universe. A lot of Movieverse Bowuigi stuff, I've noticed, tends to be heavier on stuff like "Nobody makes Luigi feel loved or important except Bowser" and "Mario's a no-good brother and Bowser offers Luigi the respect that his own twin brother won't give him so Mario tries actively sabotaging the relationship" and other shit like that, which doesn't even make sense within its own canon, given that 1.) the entire fucking movie is about how unshakable Mario and Luigi's fraternal love for each other is and 2.) the movie's one of the few times Bowser's shown to be legitimately, sincerely evil - and his only interaction with Luigi consists of torturing him before slamming him to the ground and threatening to kill him to spite Mario.

You've got an entire Gameverse's worth of Morally Gray Bowser with which you can crank out all sorts of both fun and heavily plausible ship content with him and Luigi, and that's the angle you go with?? Do y'all get where I'm coming from???

Movie Bowser was a complete r/niceguy but somehow everybody but me misread him as a himbo sweetheart???

To recap:

He felt entitled to marrying Peach even though I'm pretty sure prior to the movie they'd only ever heard of each other and never actually met before

He heard she was hanging out with some other guy, immediately assumed said other guy was trying to "steal" her from him, and vowed to murder the other guy's brother in front of him then most likely murder the other guy himself as well

He threatened Peach's subjects to blackmail her into marrying him

He was fully prepared to sacrifice his prisoners "in her honour" despite the fact that she SO VERY CLEARLY DOES NOT WANT TO WATCH A BUNCH OF INNOCENT PEOPLE DIE

His first instinct upon Peach "breaking up" with him was to try to kill her and everyone she loves and destroy her kingdom

He immediately assumed this was all Mario's fault despite him not even being at the wedding and vowed to make him suffer "like him"

One of the defining traits of a himbo is that he's respectful, especially towards women. Movie Bowser is not. This is the kind of behaviour you'd see from a self-proclaimed "nice guy" who thinks acting like a half-decent person entitles him to a romantic relationship then instantly resorts to insults and threatening when he gets turned down. But this one gets a pass because... what, he sang a (frankly overrated) love song, which I feel I should mention doesn't say anything about what it is he likes about Peach?

I don't buy it.

Not that I know what fan content you've seen, but I'd wager that the screenshot of Bowser holding the bouquet and giving puppy eyes fell on your timeline a lot huh?

On my side, most of the posts about movie Bowser were from Bowuigi fans celebrating their crumbs of interaction between the two. So I can't really say for sure if the fandom mislabeled Bowser as a himbo. However, I DID enjoy the new development of his attraction to Peach. Although Super Mario Odyssey and Super Paper Mario had weddings between the two, we really didn't have much of an idea of how would Bowser would actually treat the princess as his spouse. Finally, we have the official Mario Movie to confirm that yes, Bowser would be a nightmare of a husband. There's a part of me that is happy to finally have that answered.

Also "Peaches" is a GREAT song actually, how dare you.

Wow, you did a great job making the nightmare like nightmare-fuel. The creatures in the cages and their red eyes are so creepy 😨😰 AND THEN BOWSER’S FORM HAD ME LIKE “YOOOOO” 😨😨 I like how we all collectively agree that the bros gained some kind of trauma after the events of the movie. It makes sense given what they’ve been through, especially Luigi who pretty much had zero fun the whole time he was separated from Mario 😣 Him dealing with trauma from being in Bowser’s clutches will make his developing friendship with Bowser very interesting. Can’t wait to see how it plays out!

And of course I gotta talk about the sweet post-nightmare brotherly comfort 🥺🥰 Mario continuing to worry about Luigi and his interactions with Bowser is so big-brother of him. Although he trusts Luigi’s judgment, there’s always that concern for his safety and wellbeing. And Luigi trying to reassure him and downplay his nightmare clenches my heart a little. He just doesn’t want his big bro to worry 🥺 AND WHEN HE BROUGHT OUT THE TANOOKI PLUSH?? HELLO?? MY HEART?? 🥺🥹🥹❤️ And Mario hugging him and telling him there’s no need for him to feel bad about waking him up is so dang sweet. I just…I love these bros sm 🥹🥹❤️💚

As a fellow aroace, I totally agree with the last few points of your first reminder. Ships tend to consume a lot of fandom spaces, and while I do like fanart and other content of certain ships, I feel like platonic relationships are less represented and talked about in comparison. If my emotional attachment to the bros’ relationship is any indication 😂 And I’m honestly not a fan of Bowuigi (not that I have a problem with those who are of course!), so a friendship story like this is a refresher for me 😊

Hey guys!!! So, uh…. I forgot that it was Sunday and I, uh……. Don’t have the next chapter of L&tB ready.

Sorry!!! I started a big clay sculpture project last week and I’ve been trying to finish it before I go on vacation this Thursday. I’ve also been playing the new Zelda game nonstop lately and between the two of them, I lost track of time.

Luckily, I’ve already edited the chapter, so all I have to do is send it to my desktop, and then add all the italics, as well as write the notes, so hopefully the chapter will be up tomorrow!! Again, sorry y’all, I’ve been very tired, ha.

But! If anyone is curious about my clay sculpture, I’ll put the most recent progress pictures of it in a read more! It’s supposed to be the Light Dragon from the most recent Zelda game, ha. I’m currently making a silicone mold for the spikes on the back, since I want to make them light up with LED fairy lights underneath them. I’m mostly done with the base sculpture though, outside of the spikes along the back, the horns, and the eyes. I had made the eyes, but, uh… they looked creepy, and were too fragile, so I’m redoing them with premade plastic crafting eyes, once my order arrives tomorrow. ^-^

Mild spoilers for Tears of the Kingdom! Not much, but some.

Here it is!! It’s not as long as the dragon is in the game, but I was physically unable to make it longer without it collapsing on its own weight or being too big for my oven, so… ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

I finished the face and the legs today, and BOY was that fun!!! The legs nearly killed me, and they’re not quite how I wanted, but they’re done, so that’s good enough for me, oof. Also, there are meant to be two more legs lower, but I legit cannot add them. There’s no room, since my dragon isn’t actually flying and she isn’t going to be suspended on her base. So… meh. Good enough.

I’m planning on making a base for the sculpture, which will be made of cotton balls to signify clouds. That’s why the base of the sculpture is less detailed, since I know it will be covered, ha. I’m hoping to cover the stick at some point, but at least I can paint it white or something so it blends in better. I don’t usually work with clay, I’ve only done it a few times, and I think I’m doing a good job for a beginner!

(Also, don’t look at the scales closely. I…. MAY have put them on the wrong way, so the scales are pointing towards the face, not away from it like snake scales are meant to do. Uh… oops. 😬)

The toughest part about this meme was the fact that there isn't a lot of interaction between Luigi and Bowser in the movie trailers/posters.

WHEN I TELL Y'ALL BOWUIGI HAS TO BE THE SLOWEST SLOWBURN FANFICTION EVER.

I DON'T EVEN KNOW WHERE TO START FROM BUT HERE I GO.

Their dynamic it's just so unique, first of all they're enemies. So enemies to lovers trope is a must. Enemies to friends to lovers is even better. Luigi is Mario's brother a.k.a. Bowser's life long Nemesis. Bowser is Mario's sworn enemy. Mario is Bowser's sworn enemy. The story would have to lay out SUPER SLOW, they usually don't interact a lot which means they don't know each other deeply. Which in a fanfiction would translate to having them getting to know each other on a personal level before anything even remotely romantic happens. They'd try to just become friends taking their time after being enemies for so long and VERY SLOWLY fall in love after even YEARS of being friends. I'M TALKING ABOUT A 50K WORDS LONG CHAPTER 20 IN WHICH AT LEAST ONE OF THEM HAS STILL TO FIGURE OUT THRY GOT A CRUSH ON THE OTHER.

Then, when they'd realize they're starting to HAVE A CRUSH (very different from falling in love/being in love) on the other, they'd try to stop those feelings from developing and becoming deeper, keeping their crush a secret from anyone hoping that by ignoring them they'd go away. Bowser because he thinks he'd cause Luigi problems with Mario should he win his heart. Luigi because he thinks Bowser is still devoted to Princess Peach.

AFTER even more time, they'd accept their CRUSH but they still wouldn't want to confess their love or make a move.

SLOWLY AND DEEPLY, they'd start to have deep feelings about the other, AND FALKING IN LOVE WITH EACH OTHER. I'm talking about them LITERALLY thinking about each other 24/7, them DEEPLY missing each other when they're not spending time together, them always wondering how the other feels about them but at the end always think they have no chance but JUST a little HOPE that they one day will have one, them fantasizing about the other on so many things they just can't keep the other out of their head, them being afraid of being too close because they might accidentally try a move on the other and regret it, trying to not think about the other but loving the emotions the other gives to them. This would be the true very highlight of the fanfiction in which they'd be a mess. SO THIS EOULD BE AN UNREQUITED LOVE TAG (and possibly something else, but I don't know many tags)

Then one of them without wanting to or planning to do it makes a move on the other not even realizing they did it until after they've said/did it. Then it would escalate quickly. Somehow Bowser would find out Mario wouldn't mind them dating. And Luigi finds out Bowser isn't interested in Peach anymore.

Bowser would get more touchy quickly, more flirtatious, manhandling Luigi. Luigi would feel as if Bowser could like him back and feels more comfortable (but still like shy) in showing his blushy face whenever Bowser's around, touching him more and more.

They'd get so physically close they'd decide to confess soon. And oh, boy. What a confession. The sweetest thing you could ever imagine. Full minutes of just one of them saying to the other what they feel for them, how they make them feel. Blushing more and more. Touching more and more as they keep confessing.

Then the realization of them confessing kicks in. They really did it. After years they confessed their love to the other. They know the other feels the same way. They stare in each other's eyes for a hot minute before kissing.

And Dear Lord, the aftermath. Full chapters on how they are as a couple, cuddling, kissing, spending time together, going on dates. (also smut)

In total, this fanfiction would have the tags: slowburn, enemies to friends to lovers, getting to know each other, unrequited crush, flirting, fluff, hurt/comfort, smut, and who knows what else.

And have 500K words (I'd read it all no hesitation.)

Writing a Bowuigi relationship analysis at work bc I have nothing better to do-

I think one of the more engaging and appealing things about Bowuigi - at least for me personally - is how lonely they both are.

The Super Mario Games Cannon makes a point to distinguish the fact that Bowser himself is a very lonely man.

Bowser has spent his entire time as a a character trying to find a partner (and a mother for his children). It's pretty easy to deduce from that that the man must be pretty lonely- especially if he's resulting to kidnapping to find a partner.

The Super Mario Fandom had decided long before Bowuigi even crossed anyone's mind that Luigi was also a very lonely man.

A lot of fan made media that revolves around Luigi focuses on the fact that Mario has Peach and Luigi has nobody. While cannon points out at some points that Luigi is not as lonely as fannon implies- he has Princess Daisy, Mario and Peach aren't 'really' an item, showcasing Mario and Luigi's brotherly bond and how they need no one but each other to be happy, etc.- cannon itself has made a few jabs at Luigi and his loneliness; the scene where Mario leaves Luigi for Peach in the hot air balloons is one that always comes to the forefront of my mind.

While this joke, and jokes like it, was written with no true meaning behind it, it has simply fanned the flames of the Super Mario Fandom's headcannon

So, with both cannon and fannon as backing, whenever I look at or interact with Bowuigi, I always see it as this beautiful story of two desperately lonely people coming together and forming a bond that transcends the bounds of societal norms (human x monster). They find love with each other, because of their loneliness, and also in spite of it.

Idk, maybe I'm projecting, or making something where there's nothing, but this has always been a cool thing for me.

is there a bowuigi headcannon you have that you haven't shared before? If not, then just an aspect of bowuigi you currently feel like gushing about?

Hmm, hard to answer that. Mostly because a lot of my ideas are directly tied to the series I'm writing-- as in stuff that will most likely come up as plot points. And then a lot of other headcanons are more species/world building which I share over at 'The Secrets of MIM'.

I can say that my biggest thing for them is that they're both touch starved people. I feel like that's partly why Bowser and Luigi end up being all over each other in my fics-- giving each other patting reassurances or, in Bowser's case, just straight up manhandling Luigi and carrying him about.

Bowser is like that from his own childhood being pretty lacking in physical comfort and coddling-- something you see Kamek regrets in one of the chapters of the first fic. And of course as he got bigger and stepped into his king role, the more his subjects were intimidated and gave him space. Becoming a dad was very good for him, as after the first egg was dropped off by the stork Bowser was seen carrying soon-to-be Ludwig's egg across his chest so he could keep it warm and constantly know it was safe. Same for all the kids that followed. Bowser's been good at giving his kids things he didn't have growing up, down to doing his best to make time for vacations to spend with his family. Actually that's something else to talk about. I think Luigi does relatively well with the children, but I think if given a baby he'd be a disaster. It's very stressful for him, as he starts panicking because the noises are loud and he doesn't know what to do to make it stop. Babies can't talk, they can't send you of fetch quests to get bottles because they're hungry. You have to parse that out yourself, and Luigi is like 'oh no'. He does like Bowser's children though. I think as he spends more time around them he'll find them less intimidating, but he's pretty endeared by their quirks. I think it helps that hearing Bowser talk about them makes their antics a lot cuter than it might be if he was with them alone. I hope to have Luigi be able to interact with the children more in the near future. Especially since Luigi is visiting Bowser's castle.
