how would a (hypothetical) dragon fight between Aemond & Vhagar vs Lucerys & Cannibal look like? Let's say it's the God's Eye battle, but instead of Daemon it's Lucerys. Would Cannibal be able to kill Vhagar while coming out of this alive? Or is it still a suicide mission and he would end up like Caraxes?

I think it would depend on…a lot, to be honest. Dragon battles in the Dance don’t necessarily come down to who has the biggest dragon, considering that Meleys was speculated to have stood a chance in a solo Vhagar fight. Daemon’s last words also strongly suggest that he was looking to die in any case, so whether that factored into the outcome is difficult to say. Caraxes is very familiar with Vhagar, is highly experienced in battle, and makes very good use of his advantages, so him being smaller than the Cannibal doesn’t necessarily equal the Cannibal being more successful. 

In my visions of the Cannibal fighting, I tend to picture his style being quite akin to other large occasionally cannibalistic predators like crocodiles or sharks. Very happy to lie in wait until the opportune moment to strike (notice his behaviour when Vermax is sighted), gives very little warning before he does so (if the Cannibal is roaring or growling in Carrion, he’s actually less likely to be about to go for the kill and more likely to be attempting to simply warn off) and, for opponents he cannot easily tear apart outright, seeking to inflict blitz-style attacks on their weaker points like wings before retreating out of reach to let them bleed out - or, alternatively, sinking his teeth in a death grip and not letting go, no matter what.

So…him eking out a victory over Vhagar is possible, but in a confrontation like the God’s Eye where he’s fully anticipated by his opponent, it would be very, very difficult to do so without huge cost.

All of that, of course, is strictly a dragon-only evaluation, because I think the Lucemond interactions during such a fight (with emotions correspondingly bleeding over into their dragons) would also be a pretty important factor in any such confrontation
