I am so interested in Mel’s character arc/development over the coming seasons of the Pitt. Particularly because I think her ability to lead with compassion and have others follow suit will be central to her story.

We saw two examples of this in the first season already. With Terrence, where her compassionate/connection-focused approach literally stops Langdon in his tracks. His engagement with/perspective on Terrence shifts by the time he’s discharged and that is no small feat. The second example is the MCI when Mel pushes Robby to let her donate o neg when supply is critically low. She donates, others then do the same–specifically Abbot(t) who is an attending and one of the most senior people on the floor. It’s a quiet but powerful choice and it saves lives. She grew in confidence over the course of the MCI, and it results in moments of leadership that lead to tangible outcomes.

The central tension(?) going forward and a story that would be urgent to explore is, how does someone like Mel maintain her compassion/sensitivity/earnestness/vulnerability/what have you in an environment that tests the limits of people’s grit/resilience. We know (based on background info from the show runners/actor) that Mel is no stranger tragedy and grief. She would have every right to be burnt out, cagey, closed off, etc. Yet she maintains her vulnerability and leverages her compassion to be a good fucking doctor. Her neurodivergence may facilitate her ability to access and protect parts of herself that will be essential to surviving life in the Pitt. I hope it will also result in her becoming an (unexpected) source of leadership/direction in the coming seasons. I love Langdon/mel and look forward to watching their relationship blossom; and also, Mel is a fascinating character in her own right and that deserves exploration.

Artists can draw (or write) Pip eating food! To prevent Pip from being overfed, artists will claim what spot theyre taking for todays menu. So dont worry if you cant feed Pip today, because other people will do it for him :)

To claim a spot just reblog the menu for today and say if youre feeding him breakfast/lunch/dinner/snacks so that the others will know whats taken or not

Once youve taken a spot you can draw/write Pip eating, he doesnt have to be alone you can draw him with other characters or yourself, AUs are absolutely welcome and feel free to draw him with different outfits and stuff!
