ʕっ•ᴥ•ʔっ Triple moon - Percy Jackson x Male Reader

Word Count: 1.1k
Plot: The demigod son of Poseidon falls for the demigod son of Hecate. Cool powers and romance; best of both worlds!
Note: I've never read or watched Percy Jackson & the Olympians!! I'm sorry if any characters are OOC! Also, age demographic of Camp Half-Blood has been made to be 14-20s so all characters are 18+
Warnings: m!reader (no genitalia mentioned) / FDNI Some nsfw mentions but no smut!
The moon. It was the one thing that you were most familiar with since you were a child. You never really knew why, but you knew that you had an affinity for it; it was as if you couldn't go a day without gazing at the celestial object or noticing it in the night sky. You did start to understand this innate connection you felt between you and the moon at around age 14; that was, of course, when you came into your demigod-hood. It started small. Dreams that would occur verbatim within the following week, almost like prophecies. If you wanted to know about someone or something, with enough cognitive effort the knowledge would just pop into your head, like some sort of divination. You found that certain phrases you spoke triggered a specific result as if you were casting spells. And what you especially noticed was that if the moon was shining its silver light, you felt alive; you felt as if you were breathing for the first time, as if blood flowed through your body for the first time in months. As soon as you informed your father of these strange quirks, he shipped you off to Camp Half-Blood as soon as he possibly could. Don't get him wrong! It wasn't because of any nefarious reasons, but your father knew that he couldn't help you truly comprehend your powers.
It felt rushed. Before you knew it, you were lodging with your half-siblings! That was something you definitely had to get accustomed to. But once you settled in at camp, you fit right in! Very quickly, you became quite popular. Cabin 20 had always been quite renowned; the descendants of Hecate were unique compared to the other demigods at camp. After all, whilst other campers had more specific powers, the children of Hecate inherited magic, sorcery, and witchcraft; if you trained enough, you could do almost anything. It almost felt unfair, you could theoretically have infinite abilities whilst other campers were stuck with one. But again, this unique ability of those in Cabin 20 led to the members being well-liked; rather than hated for winning the genetic lottery.
As time passed, you grew and your powers matured. You gave tarot and palm readings to your friends every new moon to inform them of what to expect in the coming month. You had memorised chant after chant and filled at least five notebooks with your spells. Potion brewing became second nature. And after training with other cabins, you even had some control over the elements. It was during your training with the elemental cabins that you made some of your closest friends. Amongst your closest friends was Percy Jackson. Everyone knew Percy; the energetic, brave, and most of all, caring, son of Poseidon. You often trained with him, honing your water manipulation and learning from the literal demigod of the sea. But you two became close friends very quickly outside of any sort of training.
'Very close friends' was how you two described your relationship, but to anyone with eyes, it was clear as day that there were some unspoken feelings between you and the ravenette. It was the way that Percy watched you fiddle with mana between your fingers when you got nervous; nothing but fascination and admiration in his emerald-like eyes. It was the way that you tended to any wound Percy had suffered from after some perilous battle or event, no matter how small the wound you felt that it deserved your utmost attention and magical healing. It was the way that Percy would stutter and blush when talking to you before forcing himself to regain his composure. Really, Percy couldn't be any more obvious with his feelings for you! And you couldn't deny how much you liked him; the man was so loyal to you and so caring! Seriously, if the son of Poseidon heard the smallest comment made about you, he would jump at the opportunity to defend you profusely. You could never bring yourself to try and talk about your relationship with Percy, though. You didn't wanna ruin things! It wasn't until all your friends practically forced you and Percy to talk, that your relationship actually went anywhere...
Percy wanted more than anything to tell you how he felt. How you made his heart flutter. How he couldn't get you out of his head. But despite being brave by nature, the son of Poseidon just couldn't. Not without a little help that is. Annabeth and Nico literally masterminded a plan that resulted in Percy and you being locked inside an empty cabin; some cryptic riddle your only clue to escaping. 'To be let out, you must do 600 push-ups. Or Percy can grow a pair - either or!' You were extremely confused. Percy on the other hand knew what your friends were on about; after all, the two demigods would constantly tease Percy about his crush on you and tell him to 'grow a pair' and confess already. And he did just that. Percy grew a pair and told you how he felt about you; there wasn't really any other choice! Your slightly shocked face and light blush terrified the man, but he kept going. Through the mess of compliments and weird metaphors, you got the message. And that was it. The two of you were official! Percy really had nothing to worry about; you reciprocated his feelings almost immediately!

Boyfriend Percy Headcanons ૮꒰ ˶• ༝ •˶꒱ა ♡
This man worships the ground you walk on. Percy is literally the embodiment of 'I love my boyfriend'. He'll compliment you constantly, and he won't shut up about how great and hot and powerful you are to anyone who'll listen.
Your friends tease the two of you all the time. Annabeth and Nico of course never shut up about how they're the only reason the two of you are even dating. But your other friends also take every opportunity to tease how whipped you and Percy are for each other! Thalia will constantly tell the two of you to get a room when you're gettin' a bit too comfortable with the PDA, Piper's very supportive of you two but will always make fake kissing noises when you so much as give Percy a peck, oh and Leo and Jason constantly jokingly mock how you and Percy lovingly hold each other or look into each other's eyes.
Percy is kinda enamoured with your magic. Like bro nerds out on it more than you do. Percy will watch you play with mana, he'll listen to you cast spells, he'll go out with you to collect moon water, and he'll constantly gift you crystals or potion materials.
Intimacy with Percy was slow to start; neither of you wanted to push the other too far. But after your first time, trust and believe that anytime you and Percy get some alone time in a secluded area, oh you two are making out until you have to physically pry yourselves off of each other!

Oh I actually give up with this fic. Get it out of my sight. Now. -_-

The Dark Side
I hate Hewlett-Packard's PC division. I hate it with the fury of a thousand suns.
Long vent post. Logorrhea below. Clicky.
My go-to portable is 2022's edition of the Razer Blade 14. It's small, reasonably lightweight, it has an admitted paucity of ports, but at least two of them are USB-A 3.0. It's not terribly modular, but the hard drive is easily accessible and replaceable with any commodity M.2 or NVME solution you could think of. Thankfully, all the vendors that served as sources for the hardware are covered by Windows Update for drivers. The keyboard's the perfect size for someone like me who tends to stick his hands in one position near the Home row and that occasionally shifts up and down, and the Chicklet keys feel clicky, tactile and responsive. I can feel my typos as they happen, so I don't typically miss a lot of 'em.
Compare and contrast with what happens when a Boomer decides to buy a slab on the cheap. The HP CN000x "notebook" is a heaving monster that claims to be portable but that has the form factor of a Desktop Replacement, with seventeen inches of screen that more or less scream overkill for anything clerical. The keycaps are mushy and massive, they're spaced too far apart from one another to allow for comfortable muscle-memory typing or for sniping around your home row without looking down - and the Power button is somehow wedged between the F7 and F8 keys, all but guaranteeing that you're going to put your machine to sleep inadvertantly.
All of the above amounts to annoyances, however. What really gets me is what the vendor assumes to be entreprise-grade hardware and security features, when in fact it all amounts to a collection of bloatware and generally inexplicable features crammed at an entry-level price point.
Hardware-level encryption on top of the base TPM layer? She's gonna be fetching emails from her ISP's server and watching cat videos. Entreprise-grade offsite storage shoved in your face upon boot-up? I wouldn't give this shitty keyboard to anyone Corporate even if I actively hated a suit. Dedicated hybrid SSDs? We're in 2023, memory is dirt fucking cheap; there's no real excuse to be pushing spinning rust on someone who has about zero mass storage needs.
Then, there's the kicker: this is an HP laptop, and you cannot, in fact, simply flash a new OS on there and just expect it to recognize everything. You cannot, because the Live media you'll create also needs to receive driver packages specifically from HP in order for the rig to recognize its own hard-mounted and unremovable hard drives.
The only problem? Each fucking SKU has its own driver solution. You need to hit up HP's Support site, let it scan your hardware (rootkits, ew) and then narrow down its fuckjillion "matches" to the one missing driver file it has in its database. A driver file that doesn't, in fact, relate to those drives you're trying to format. A driver that relates to the equally-useless FC reader and that somehow also allows the hybrid drive to show up on the Drives list in a new Windows 11 install.
So, I found the driver, installed it, crossed my fingers... and it still didn't work.
Hunting online got me to see that while HP had shipped this particular line of 17-inch laptops with Windows 11, not all of the hardware was compliant with Windows installs that start at 22H2.
So, knowing I have some spare SSDs that won't throw a fit, I add one in. Zippo. This particular model only accepts proprietary parts. That's without mentioning how the four plus-sized Philips screws that held up the bottom plate were a lie, more or less promising some degree of accessibility only to expose a fucking moron's take on Apple's own closed-sourced engineering.
I mean, I have to hand this to Apple, at least - its hardware plans are graceful. Every PCB goes where it's supposed to and its connectors aren't unnaturally long in order to account for some oversight in general placement. There's no globs, no wasted space - and even if you're not supposed to, you get the sense that any sane person with a screwdriver can at least disassemble and reassemble your average iDevice without making too much of a mess.
HP? Fuck, HP is so concerned with being "helpful" that it buries base components you'd want to easily access - like the SSD or RAM - under a mess of daughterboards.
By this point, I'm on the verge of hunting down who sold that poor lady this hunk of junk and braining them with it. My one and only option is to submit to HP's in-built Recovery partition, which probably runs on the Devil's idea of soldered-on EMMC.
Flashing the SSD portion of a hybrid drive, on the 25th of July, 2023, on a reasonably modern processor and 16 GBs of RAM, took all of eight hours. Eight hours of waiting while Walt swallowed flies, as HP opted, in its infinite wisdom, to hack up Windows 11's installation wizard with a bevy of paid offers that obviously had to include a fucking McAffee antivirus trial. After digging, I realized I'd dodged about ten gigs' worth of bloatware.
Windows is running and so am I, as I'm the abomination's temporary Administrator, while I sort everything out. The second part of my woes is going to unfold tomorrow, as I have to explain to a senior citizen that Microsoft actually wanting to text its userbase to authenticate them at common access portals is actually normal. Couple that with the fact that she's so concerned with security that she's set in passwords consisting of Complete fucking sentences she hasn't bothered to note down anywhere, and restoring her accounts is going to be such a PITA I'm going to stop for schwarma after two hours.
Be a good Admin, if you can, and take a blowtorch to anything HP-branded that isn't a printer or a flat-bed scanner. Oh, and don't be afraid to remind tech-averse Boomers that if you aren't going to be taking this particular machine online and only need to fetch codecs and word processor downloads, then there's nothing wrong with having "123456" as an account password. They're not going to remember anything else anyway, and expecting them to make sense of alphanumerics or special characters in a password is a fool's fucking errand. They won't note it down properly and then they'll call you six months to a year later, complaining that their system is bricked.
Hewlett-Packard computers are bloated and heaving paperweights.
That is all.

if she had looked out the window, she might have seen a great, hoary old black owl alight on the branch of the oak tree. she might have seen the owl lean perilously forward on his green-black branch and, without taking his gaze from her window, fall hard—thump, bash!—onto the streetside. she would have seen the bird bounce up, and when he righted himself, become a handsome young man in a handsome black coat, his dark hair curly and thick, flecked with silver, his mouth half-smiling, as if anticipating a terribly sweet thing.
-deathless, catherynne m. valente
i have been absent for a couple of days as i had been consumed by this sketch, wanting to pay homage to one of my favorite excerpts from the masterpiece that is deathless by the wonderful catherynne m. valente, and i ended up rendering a fully-detailed piece. i wanted it to be all dark, moody, and harsh lines and i have delivered.
i also spent the day making this swatch of my pens and markers to assess their compatibility with this specific notebook (pleasantly surprised to find that they did not bleed through to an unmanageable extent). i would like to work on my unbearable aversion to working on art pieces with inks.

8. 13, 14, 23, 24 and 30 for the writing habits thingy ;W; ❤️
@theimpalpable | roleplay / writing habits
---
8. Do you reply to threads you have the most inspiration for first or do you work on them in the order in which you received them? IT’S! Oh, I am terribly messy when it comes to this. Recently, when I really wanted to sit down and tackle drafts that were older, I put my all into working in a oldest to newest fashion, but, as expected, I managed to only get as far with this method before I started skipping around again. Chronological order doesn’t really do it for me, because tackling drafts just because they’re the next in line and not because I do actually have the muse for it doesn’t really do it for me? But if I were to only ever reply to things I had excessive amount of muse for, I might end up neglecting other threads just because a given muse is occupying all my thinking ability, which is absolutely something that can happen. So, recently, I’ve found that I sort of try to reply by some weird system my brain has set out for me, where I kind of shoot for things that create diversity in terms of genre in the posting order? Jumping from a Yoshino reply to a Patrick one, for example, something about colour that only my brain knows about. And then I try to vary who I’m replying to, instead of tackling all replies of a single mutual, it feels fairer to spread my attention out to as many as possible and that as equally as possible. I have no idea if any of this makes sense :3
13. Are you more comfortable writing in private or public spaces? Why or why not? Absolutely private spaces. I’ve never actually truly tried writing in public spaces, for a wide variety of reasons that mostly revolve around going to public places only for specific purposes and never to just spend the time there, and when I’m out for something specific, I wouldn’t take my laptop along. Now, I could take a notebook with me, but truth is, other than the fact that I don’t like carrying things around with me (I’m THE WORST-), I don’t think I could get into the right headspace if I was in public? I try to be as invisible as possible when I’m outside, that’s one reason, scribbling away at something would look odd in the town I live in lmao Plus, I’ve recently found out that apparently I need very specific set ups (such as font size) to get my brain to actually function in a writing sense, which a pencil can’t give me :’3 Long story short, I am a gremlin with bad posture typing away in Quasimodo form in my lil corner of the table.
14. Do you have a routine that helps you prepare to work on your writing? I wish I could answer this positively, Alex please take my blogs away from me, put me in writer jail—I’m JUST! So messy. There are a few things, though! First and foremost, I need music. Doesn’t have to be specific music, I’ll just put what I have on shuffle and skip what truly doesn’t work for my current mood more than anything else, although I have found that I will simply skip song if I lose concentration halfway through a sentence, even though the song had nothing to do with it, I think it’s just a tick of some kind ==. PLAYLISTS HELP TOO! I love playlists so much~ (I LOVE YOURS EVEN MORE)
THEN, I need visuals, and by visuals, I mean colours. Sometimes, in particular if I’m moving from writing for one muse to another that is drastically different in voice than the previous one, or if I’m writing for a character I’m not too familiar with, to get into the headspace of the muse I look at visuals, and in particular anything of a specific colour palette I associate with them, to kind of get myself into the right headspace? If that makes any sense? Sometimes I will use resources for this, a handful of gifs from the faceclaim I use, especially if it’s for a canon character, I look at gifs to sort of refamiliarise myself with their typical facial expressions which will then somehow lead to me getting closer to their voice again (sit next to me and you’ll find me making the weirdest faces to achieve this without opening a gif page KLDDFGFKJLH).
Then I need to make sure I don’t have too many tabs open because that is mighty distracting. Then I just… Try. Something that I will thank my brain for is that I usually know after the first line whether or not this reply will be any good, or if I’ll end up scrapping it, if the vibes are off, or if I was too consciously aware of what I was writing as I wrote it, most likely going to get scrapped.
21. If a reply isn’t coming easily do you draft it for later, delete and start over, chat with your writing partner for help, or something else? Because I replied to 23 :33333 I’m jumping BACKWARDS!! And choosing this one also because I like to bully myself and expose the ones amongst my habits I want to beat with a stick: if a reply isn’t coming easily, it goes straight into the bin, and I am so ashamed. Because even if I do draft it for later, the likelihood of me attempting the same reply again right away after one failed attempt is… hehe… something to be embarrassed about. If the tab reloads and deletes my stuff, if I struggle through the first paragraph, if I just notice that the voice is completely off and my metaphors are more filler than anything else, then it’s getting deleted. And left to rest. I’ve always had issues with repetitions, I don’t like it when people repeat things over and over in quick succession, when my teacher asked me to repeat things back to her I couldn’t physically get it past my lips, when I have to re-try on the same reply right away and repeat the process I can’t, I need to arrest my brain. So I delete the disgusting blob of writing, close the draft, and move onto another. And if that one doesn’t work either, I shut my brain down for the day and go mope at Pinterest FDKLHJJLHG
24. When working on items in your inbox, do you spread out the answers, queue them up, or work on them all at once? THE QUEUE IS MY BEST FRIEND, OH MY DEARLY BELOVED QUEUE, THANK YOU FOR EXISTING! It makes me so happy, getting to be active while also simultaneously working on other things behind the scenes, I feel like I’m actually offering something to you folks who bother writing with me, rather than just vaguely existing on the other end of the screen. So nowadays I use the queue feature for truly anything, asks included! I used to have a sort of system where I’d go for a draft, an ask, a gallery post, just to switch things up, but when it comes to asks I’ve realised that I can’t post one of a meme without posting the others, too. I don’t know why, but once I start on asks sent in from one particular meme/prompt post, I will post them until I don’t have any in my inbox of that post left. This doesn’t apply to asks that are sent after I’ve completed this, even if it’s the same meme, since it didn’t come in with the first round, I go about it chiller in replying to it and will introduce it between a draft and something else (I don’t know if this makes any sense, my brain and I aren’t very close, we don’t talk often, I won’t ask it--). But yesh :33 I queue them up to only post asks from that meme until there are none left. But! I don’t work on them all at once. I’m replying to this one while I have a few left of the 400 dialogue prompts one, because since I’m currently not doing splendidly connection-wise (I’m writing this out on Word to just copy paste it into Tumblr later, rather than use up data by writing in on Tumblr directly), I can’t access muse info as easily so I took a break from those until I can read up on mutual’s characters, BUT I DIGRESS, the point is that I don’t work on them all at once, but they’re still getting posted together, which is why the 400 dialogue ones will have been posted before this will be :3 ALSO, I do treat my inbox and my drafts differently (well, they are different things), also in the sense that, where I skip about like a maniacally cackling gremlin in my drafts page, I will reply to asks of a single meme post in the order I received them in. I’ll be honest, I didn’t use to be this organised, I have old asks from older memes that I haven’t gotten to yet, that do not absolutely match up with this system, BUT I AM TRYING!! I SHALL BE ORGANISED BEAN >:3
30. When working on replies or drabbles, do you prefer a desktop keyboard, a laptop, typing on mobile, or other accessibility methods? MY TRUSTY LAPTOP!! I will cry when I’ll inevitably have to allow it to retire, it’s not the oldest bean out there, but it’s the oldest laptop in our household, my boy has survived folks younger than him, he’s lasted THIS LONG and I am SO PROUD IF IT, like, I am taking the utmost care of him, I want this bad boy to last me until they don’t make chunky bois like these anymore >:333 I wouldn’t mind using a desktop keyboard either, but I’ll be honest, I’m so used to the size of my laptop keyboard that I’d probably make a lot more mistakes on desktop keyboards (or any other keyboards tbh). In regards to typing on mobile, allow me to offer a tiny fun fact about yours truly, the gremliest pupper: when it comes to technology, there is nothing I fail quite as hard at as typing on mobile. Today I tried typing CRM into a searchbar and all I managed to type was a lowercase V, how the FRICK—I don’t know how to get my fingers to agree with mobile keyboards, it’s not the touch screen, because I can use that, I know how to use a smartphone with the regular, normal amount of ease, but typing, oh GOD—Maybe I try to go to fast or I slip I DON’T KNOW, I’M SO BAD AT IT, on one hand it’s really funny, on the other it’s the answer to the question ‘why is Lena clenching her fist really tightly and groaning in pain while staring at that phone’.
#theimpalpable#;ooc#;the mun#ALEX MOST ADORED THANK YOU FOR BEING CURIOUS AND SORRY FOR THE MESS THAT THIS IS I FIND THAT#I LACK THE BRAIN COMPETENCES TO DESCRIBE ANYTHING RELATED TO MYSELF IT SEEMS GDFKLHJFKLJHFG IDK I JUST#HOPE ANY OF THIS MAKES SENSE AND THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR SENDING ANY IN I LOVE YOU ♥♥♥#;queue

Zerfall - 1/14
Pairing: Bucky x named!Reader (Agent Andromeda) Summary: After Hydra drops virus bombs in 7 major American cities in the height of summer, the team is locked in their emergency bunker for weeks. The virus commonly called the Summer Poison successfully brought the infrastructure to a halt in all big cities. When the virus slowly starts burning itself out SHIELD Agents and Avengers are sent out to bring back order into the cities and the international relationships. Not without hurdles. Warnings for this chapter: Pandemic, mainy people in a small space, fear
Zerfall Masterlist || M a s t e r l i s t
The alarm sirens were blaring in the entire compound, a computer voice repeating the words, “Emergency Level Red, Code Black.” Level Red meant to get into a safe space fast, Code Black meant, “You should probably call your mum and tell her you love her a lot.” The entire team including you and your colleague Agent Magnolia instantly went into action, all silently hoping it was a test. “Friday? What the hell is going on?” Tony yelled out. “Sir, if there was a code double black, I would call it. Get in the bunker!” She urged him through the overwhelming amount of sounds the building was suddenly able to create. The blood drained out of multiple faces, not yours, you were trained for any kind of emergency situation. Not only an Agent of S.H.I.E.L.D but also a SAID Agent. Trained for any thinkable Code Black. Agent Andromeda. The door to the bunker was open and after Friday confirmed that everyone had gone through the door Steve closed down the door manually in a blink of an eye. You all looked around, panting from running down the stairs and searching for the bunker entry that opened up. The place was small but big enough to live in for a while if that needed to be done. The room you’d entered was full of tech equipment and two walls full of canned foods and tap with a big filter construction connected to it. Stark never struck you as a survival kinda guy, at least not in this specific sense, but you weren’t complaining about clean water. There was an open door leading to a room full of bunk beds.
“So what the fuck happened, Friday?” Tony asked irritated by the adrenaline coursing through his veins. “There has been a series of explosions over heavily populated areas a few hours back, only detected by little equipment monitoring the air. Bioweapons. Hydra says they are responsible and that there is a highly contagious and deadly virus that was spread with these explosions.” Friday said it short and straight forward. “Then why aren’t we doing something against it?” Steve looked up at the speaker system with a frown on his face, ready to go back out again. “Mr. Rogers, until we know if that virus is deadly nobody will leave this bunker. I’m programmed to keep as much of this team alive in situations like this. Singapore DORSCON level red. World Health Organisation phase 6, approaching 7. That means it is a pandemic. If I let you out you could die in less than a week if this is as deadly as Hydra says.” The AI urged him. “Please update us.” Tony exhaled stressed leaning on the chair behind him, before sitting down. “Will do, sir,” Friday assured him.
Everyone started adventuring the Bunker. The last big exercise was a while ago and the team had grown since then. Clint found the room with 4 power generators first. “I hope we don’t need this. We are still powered by your reactor model, right?” Clint peaked out at Tony and got a nod back. The billionaire was properly done with what was happening. The only thing keeping him from exploding was Pepper going through his hair. Sam was the one finding all the gaming equipment and making an excited little dance in the middle of a possible apocalypse. “You’re the worst, Wilson.” Natasha rolled her eyes. “Come on, if we live in a time of bioweapons I want to at least have some distraction. Can’t fight a virus with military training.” He grinned. Agent Magnolia was the one finding the arsenal of weapons hidden in a giant box below the bunk that was behind the door. She showed you the knife ensemble that was included and grinned at you. “Visible forces definitely won’t kill us down here.” You grinned back.
“How many are we?” Clint called out to the others. Pepper looked up concerned, “Twelve, why?” “There are only 10 beds.” came back and some of the team members interchanged worried glances for a second. “We have married couple and work couples here. I think that won’t be the problem.” you smiled and looked around you at Pepper, Tony, Steve, and Nat. “So Pepper & Tony share a bed. Who else?” Sam asked, suddenly very tense again. “Nat?” Steve looked down at his favorite team member. “Yeah, I don’t mind. You’re warm.” she smiled back up at him. “That will be the least of the problems with 12 people in an enclosed space.” Dr. Helen Cho finally came to word after she had calmed down from her personal existential crisis about viruses. Wanda pointed at the walls and the sink, “For how long would the food and water here last?” “Depends if we only eat twice a day. Could hold up for 90 days. Water won’t be a problem with my filter system.” Tony explained. There was another concerned glare between everyone, hoping that 90 days would be enough for the virus to decently die down if it was as bad as expected. “There is confirmation of the virus to be deadly by 70-85% from a Silicon Valley lab.” Friday’s voice broke through after a little more than an hour. “Analyze how deadly, how long people need to die, which symptoms, how long the recovery period is for people living,” Bruce called out, sitting on one of the computers that he didn’t leave since they had entered the bunker. “And the international political climate,” Tony added. “And when it’s safe enough for me to start working on a vaccine with the help of people outside.” Helen also added her factors. “Will do.” The AI voice answered and the room went silent for a second.
“Which cities are targeted?” Agent Magnolia finally asked the important question “NYC, D.C., Atlanta, Miami, LA, Chicago, Denver.” Friday listed. “Atlanta has the most used airport in the world. Great. A perfect recipe for a pandemic. How long did it operate after explosion.” You shared, rubbing your temples and having your brain start to overwhelm just like the scientists’. “4 hours, Agent.” Came back. “We’re in here for a good few weeks.” You deadpanned, putting all the factors together in your head. This wasn’t going to be a quick in and out thing. You’d be in this small space for at least 1-2 months if not longer. Everyone went back to the bunk they had chosen and tried to relax. You were trying to write down possible outcomes and strategies based on that in a notebook you found. There were so many factors to viruses and how people are infected and from which strain the virus is made. You bet on smallpox, a hard thing to get with only two original samples existing in the entire world. One in the US, one in Russia. You bet on Russia since Hydra said they were responsible. They were trying to bring chaos to the world for the bad people to team up in a post-apocalyptic world so that they could take over control. You had learned how this worked over and over again. Not only as an Agent but also from books, movies and games. It was so obvious but that made it easier for you to go about possibilities to create a strategy.
“The entire US and most of the western world is currently on lockdown & people are being quarantined.” Friday updated the bunker again and an exhale went through the bedroom. “Martial law already in place?” Steve looked up from a book he had found. “Not yet, but we’re close.” “Chill, Rogers. You can’t do much more than you’re already doing.” Sam said hanging from the bed in front of him. “I know, it’s just. I hate this, all of it. I didn’t fight in World War II for this to happen at the hands of Hydra.” he frowned and got an understanding nod back. “Can’t we go out there without getting sick?” Bucky spoke up still wearing his pajama jumper from sleeping in that morning. “Well, depending on how deadly this is, no. If the whole thing is a little more clear I might send you out to get samples for me to work on it.” Helen yelled from the other room. “Would love to help with that.” he smiled. He’d do anything to help humanity. The had already ruined his life and he ruined other lives under their influence. That’s the least he could do. “It’s getting late, get yourself ready for bed.” Pepper came in with a motherly smile. “We need a monitor that’s just showing day and night scenes, this is gonna mess us up,” Magnolia muttered before opening one of the closets. The standard-issue clothing in the closets were mainly Large and a few double XL. There was a washer but the drying system needed to have the ventilator system work better again and that wouldn’t be happening until the virus was going slower. Two to three weeks in the same 4 clothing sets seemed okay. Anything longer would be horrible for everyone involved.
“Atlanta spreads to Beijing, Dubai, Tokyo, Shanghai, Hong Kong, Paris, Dallas, Seoul, Amsterdam, Frankfurt, Singapore,” you mumbled laying in your bed, looking at the metal above you. “Hey, relax. We can’t do more than help the people working on it to do the right things.” Bucky looked over from the bed across. “I know. I know. That’s just, so many people dying.” You looked over. An understanding nod came back at you. In your head, you went with a 75% death rate and that was bad if you thought about the areas you just mentioned. Big Chinese cities, Central Europe, South East Asia.

I’m cheating and posting this here because I want to answer all the questions.

[Originally from Twitter]
1. How many fics have you writen?
I’ve written 5 so far but there’s a bunch of WIPs I have yet to post and a rewrite in the works😋
2. Average length of your fics
I feel like it varies a lot. If it’s a multi-chapter story I try to stick to 2k-5k a chapter. One-shots are about the same. My older fics are a lot shorter tho.
3. Favorite trope to write
I love writing any kind of AU. I get nervous writing within canon 😬 And I always find myself doing enemies to lovers or friends to lovers. Even strangers to lovers. Just all the love and smutty goodness 🥰
4. Favorite part of writing
My fav part of writing is being able to write funny scenes and silly jokes. I’m a huge goofball so it makes me insanely happy to see people laugh or smile at a comedic scene I wrote. I also love writing dialogue. I could go on and on about the things I love there’s so much 🥰
5. Easiest part of writing
Story ideas come easily to me. They just pop up in my head all the time. And I feel like writing summaries is super easy for me (Ik some people struggle with that). I would say writing itself is a constant flow, but never exactly easy ya know
6. Writing pet peeves
When a word keeps autocorrecting to something ridiculous and nowhere near close to what you were trying to type. When you can’t think of that particular/specific word that you know would fit perfectly. And of course writer’s block.
7. Writing habits
My habits include: me asking my husband random questions, my husband and I debating on characterization, us getting into arguments over fandom theories, and me begging him to critique my work because he’s not the best beta 😑 (but I still love him 🥰)
8. A line from a WIP
“Oh I stopped thinking Vegeta was gay forever ago,” said Raditz.
9. An idea for a fic you have
It’s a secret 🤫 But I will say it’s a movie au. One of my fav movies 🤗 DM if you really wanna know
10. A favorite line from a fic
“You ever threaten me again, you'll really get to see what my daddy’s money can buy.”
11. A favorite scene from a fic
A fav from my fic? Chapter 7 of Everywhere You Are is like my all time favorite. I love every scene in that chapter.
12. Your most treasured fic
Everywhere You Are is super important to me rn. I love it so much. But A Dream is a Wish will always have a special place in my heart 💜
13. Methods when writing
I tend to put a lot of effort in writing chapter titles. So I’ll write a chapter and then spend forever creating the perfect title. I also have an entire ass notebook dedicated to planning out my story that I’m constantly writing in.
14. Favorite character
I can’t choose just one 😫 I have too many fandoms
15. Favorite title
Here’s a sneak peak/spoiler 😏 An uncoming chapter in Everywhere You Are titled Fare l'Amore al Primo Appuntamento 🥰
16. Most used tag
‘Alternate Univsere’ or ‘smut’ on AO3. ‘Romance’ and ‘humor’ on FFnet/FFN.
17. Most used rating
Explicit on AO3. M on FFnet/FFN
18. Something all your fics have
A ship/pairing. Gotta have the fluff and smut 😉🥰
19. Most important part of writing
The most important thing for me is to have fun. To enjoy the process and fall in love with my own story. My goal is always to express emotion and create something I’m proud of. And to make readers laugh (sometimes cry).
20. A fic that best represents you as a writer
Definitely Everywhere You Are... It’s my first super long fic and I’ve put so much energy into it. I love it so much and it’s helped me grow so much as a writer. But I feel like A Dream is a Wish also shows range.

With Great Power - Chapter 8
Title: With Great Power - Chapter 8
Word Count: 3474
Fic Summary: Thomas Sanders is just a regular social media personality. But when he gets bit by a spider during filming one of his YouTube videos, his whole life is about to turn upside down—whether he (or the aspects of his personality) want it to or not. Platonic LAMP/CALM + Character!Thomas. Spider-Man AU.
Catch up or Read on AO3 here!
Chapter Warnings: arguing, science that isn’t real science, arguing, violence/robbery/hostages mention, a couple of OCs make an appearance this chapter, let me know if I forgot anything.
A/N: It’s been a minute on this fic. Sorry for the delay! Always a joy to work on this fic, but real life was pretty busy for a while there. Special thanks to @creativenostalgiastuff for helping me out so much with this chapter. The science of this chapter is based in the lab notebook page we get a glimpse of in Spider-Man: Homecoming for Web Fluid 3.0. I found a picture of it online and used that as my baseline for the science of their development of this formula. I am not a chemical engineer. If you are, I beg for suspension of disbelief. Also.... please let me know what ya think! We’re starting to get more and more into character stuff, and I’m always interested in knowing how it’s coming across. ^u^ Love you all.
Three days later, Thomas makes his way down the hallway of the third level of the engineering building of his old college.
It had been a little odd being on campus so long after graduation. So much had changed from when he’d thought he’d be a chemical engineer; he’d gotten famous on Vine. He’d started YouTube as a full-time gig. He hadn’t done any chemical engineering work since his first job out of college, and he’d only done that for a few years. Thomas remembered the late coffee-fueled nights of studying in the library, the stupid adventures with friends for donuts at midnight, the tears shared over failed tests and where their lives would be going …
So much had changed for Thomas in the years since his graduation. The campus, however, seemed to be exactly the same except for a few updates to the old brick buildings he’d spent four years walking past.
Thomas approaches the lab down the hall and can hear music floating from under the wooden door. He’d sent the email to his old engineering professor, Dr. Washington, the same night that the Sides had given him the idea for the suit and webshooters. She’d responded the next morning, telling Thomas that she’d be doing research work with her lab assistant most of Wednesday and to drop by whenever he was free. Thomas spent most of the day in-between working with Logan to come up with some ideas for the formula, however incomplete it clearly was. At least he would have notes to give Dr. Washington as a starting place.
As Thomas raps a knuckle against the door, he can make out the suddenly familiar song. “And they’re gonna see what stop the presses really means! And the old will weep and go back to sleep—”
Thomas opens the door, smiling. “You’re listening to Newsies, Dr. Washington?”
The lab is relatively spacious; black tables are filled with various vials, beakers, and equipment that takes Thomas back to his own lab assistant days. The tiled linoleum floor reflects the fluorescent lights above. On the other side of the room, Thomas sees Dr. Washington—in a lab coat and goggles—look up at the sounds of his entry. Beside her is a man with blonde hair and glasses with something like a laser pointer attached, who looks a few years younger than Thomas, seated in an electric wheelchair.
She grins, sliding the goggles up over her cropped hair. “I told Andrew he could choose the music today.” She nods to the man beside her. “As long as it wasn’t Les Mis.”
Thomas laughs at the affronted look on Andrew’s face. He looks at a board attached to his wheelchair, and Dr. Washington leans over, reading. “I S-T-- still don’t know what you H-A-- have against L-E-S Les Mis.” She quirks an eyebrow at him. “Nothing, the first eighteen times we listened to it.”
Thomas smiles. “Only eighteen? Then you’re fine. When you get into like, the thirties is when you maybe consider listening to a different musical.”
Dr. Washington points a finger at him. “Don’t encourage him, Thomas. Having one thespian in my midst is enough. I feel outnumbered now.” Andrew looks at the board again and she leans over to read. “I like him. He G-E-- gets it.” Dr. Washington rolls her eyes. “Of course you do.”
Andrew and Thomas grin at each other.
Dr. Washington screws the lid onto a petri dish and scribbles something on it. She sets it aside. “I can’t win.” She pulls her gloves off and tosses them into the wastebasket underneath the lab table. “So what brings you in, Thomas? Your email was pretty vague.”
“Right. Well…” The internet personality swings his backpack around from his shoulder and unzips it, digging through it for his notebook. “I have a question about a hypothetical formula.”
“H-Y-P-- hypothetical?”
Thomas pulls the notebook out, flipping through it for the pages he’d been working on with Logan. “I—yeah. I was wondering if I combined salicylic acid, methanol, carbon tetrachloride, touline, H-heptane…” Thomas trails off as he flips through the pages before finding the one with the partial formula he’d been working on, stepping up to the other side of the lab table and setting the notebook open in front of them.
It’s a long moment as Thomas watches both them glance over his notes. Andrew furrows his brows in thought as Dr. Washington flips the single page back and forth. She looks up at Thomas.
Thomas jumps in before she can say anything. “It’s incomplete. I know it is. I’m just not sure what’s missing.”
“Well,” she says, tilting her head slightly as her dark eyes flit over the page, “that depends on what you’re trying to get this substance to do.”
Thomas rubs the back of his neck as he walks around the table to stand on the other side of Andrew. “I was wondering if it’s possible to create a flexible but strong adhesive… thing.”
Andrew’s looking at him with curiosity. Thomas glances down as Andrew uses the communication board, reading his question aloud. “Like a G-L-- glue?” Thomas sighs. “Not exactly. I… was hoping for something a lot stronger and more flexible than glue.”
Dr. Washington hums, tapping a pencil to her mouth. Her brows are furrowed in thought. “I may have an idea. But you’d need to add carbon tetrachloride and ethyl acetate to the list you’ve got here.”
Thomas nods, scribbling that under the list of other chemicals, not picking up his pencil as Andrew adds on.
“S-O-D-I-- sodium T-E-T-R-A-B-- tetraborate could work as an A-C-T-I-V-activator.”
Dr. Washington and Andrew spend the next ten minutes bouncing ideas off each other. Thomas scribbles down as many notes as he can. Dr. Washington starts bustling around the lab, grabbing chemicals and starting equipment up as she goes. Thomas studies the new list and equations they’ve developed, and he can feel Logan’s presence at the forefront of his mind like a comforting weight.
Add CC14, K3Co5 and C7H6O3 after you’ve boiled it, Logan tells him suddenly. It’ll help the consistency prior to adding the sodium tetraborate.
Thomas jots that down.
The three of them make themselves busy. Thomas grabs a lab coat and pair of safety goggles from the cabinet near the door. Dr. Washington hands Andrew an iPad, and he pulls up a software that Thomas isn’t familiar with and inputs a series of chemical equations. Dr. Washington swirls a clear liquid in a flask as she crosses the lab.
The hours pass by in a flurry of scientific trial and error. Andrew runs simulations on the iPad before they adjust the formula each time fails—something that Thomas is especially grateful for when the simulation for one particular change involves a small explosion. It hardly absolves them of error, every slight change resulting in something different. In some ways, it serves to remind Thomas one thing he loved about chemistry: it had always been precise and measured. One small change could lead to a very different reaction.
Even when Thomas can feel his frustration rising, Dr. Washington and Andrew make him laugh. Andrew’s nerdiness rivals Thomas’s own, and Dr. Washington’s sarcasm seems to have continued in the years since Thomas had her for class. While they waited for the current fluid to boil, he and Andrew swapped opinions about Kingdom Hearts 3 and Marvel (with a healthy debate about Captain America’s arc in Endgame) and musicals.
“It’s a shame that Dr. Washington is a musical hater,” Thomas teases, being sure to speak loud enough that it was obvious he wanted the professor in question to hear.
Andrew shakes his head, tapping a few things on the iPad in his lap. Through the speakers in the lab, Thomas hears a familiar song that’s a quick change from the music of The Prom that they’d been listening to a moment ago. It’s Hairspray. Specifically, “Run and Tell That”.
Dr. Washington’s eyes flicker up across the room to the two of them. “Andrew, I will forever regret telling you that.”
Thomas raises his eyebrows. “Tell you what?” Andrew has an amused glint in his eyes as he meets Thomas’s gaze, then looks to his board. Thomas leans over. “She told me she was M-A-Y-- Maybelle in a C-O-M-M-- community theatre P-R-- production.” Thomas looks at his old professor. “Wait… really?”
Dr. Washington shoots a mock glare at Andrew. “Traitor.”
Andrew laughs before Thomas reads his reply aloud. “If any of us are a T-- traitor, it’s you. You hate L-E-S Les Mis.”
Dr. Washington pulls the pencil out from behind her ear and points it at him. “Of all the musicals we can agree on, Andrew, you’re going to get hung up on one that I just happen to think is overrated?” Andrew shakes his head sadly. Dr. Washington snorts.
“That’s amazing,” Thomas replies. “I never knew you did theatre.”
Dr. Washington opens her mouth to reply, but sharp ding cuts off her response. The timer signals the need to add the activator and start the de-gassing process. It’s a sudden, sharp reminder of what he’s here to do.
…
Thomas blows out a breath as he spins the office chair in a lazy circle. It’s nearly 7 in the evening, and Dr. Washington had gone with Andrew to pick up some dinner for the three of them. Thomas had offered to stay behind and watch their current attempt slowly heat in the flask. The internet personality had written in his notebook that this was trial fifteen.
The empty lab is suddenly quiet, too. Andrew had given Thomas the iPad to play music, but he hadn’t selected anything. Instead, Thomas listens to the quiet gurgling of the fluid in the flask on the table in front of him, the whirring of the AC unit, and a distant, muffled voice of a professor giving a lecture in a nearby room. Not for the first time today, it takes Thomas back to his own time as a student and lab assistant. It felt like such a long time ago.
He’d always been interested in the environment and helping the world on such a big scale. Throughout high school, Thomas used to read articles about scientists engineering new biotechnology that could help slow deforestation, or developing alternative substances to harmful pesticides, or creating more environmentally-friendly methods of gas consumption. He’d always found it interesting, and though he was generally a pretty average student, he’d done well in chemistry.
He remembers talking to his Aunt Patty before he chose a major, during his senior year of high school. She was an elementary school librarian, and she’d been doing that for as long as Thomas could remember. When he asked her how she knew what she wanted to do, she told him to find where his passion intersected with his ability and to pursue it.
But it hadn’t always been that simple, either. Thomas was as passionate about performing as he was about the environment at the time. There was greater job security in an engineering job than trying to make it as an actor, so Thomas had chosen chemical engineering and decided that he could keep performing as a hobby. It had seemed like the most practical solution at the time.
But then he was introduced to Vine, and what started as goofing around on a social media app quickly turned his life around. In a few years, Thomas decided to make performing and social media his full-time job once he realized he could actually make a living out of it. It had fixed the practicality issue, and his fans were so incredibly kind. He realized that, maybe, he could make a positive difference in the world this way, too.
Thomas sighs, standing up to stretch.
Making a positive difference in the world was really his biggest hope with anything he did. It was true when he was a chemical engineer, and it was true now.
Now.
The thought stops Thomas short suddenly. The video he’d watched the other day flickers through his mind again. The card. The entire reason he was here in the first place was to help others, right? But he thinks again about the video—the footage, the threat—and feels something uneasy settle in his stomach.
“We’re in way over our head, Thomas.”
Thomas jumps slightly. “What?” He’d been so lost in his roaming thoughts that he hadn’t even noticed that Virgil had risen up by one of the tables to Thomas’s left, in his familiar hoodie and a black shirt underneath. “What do you mean?”
Virgil shoves his hands into the pockets of his hoodie, scowling. “I mean this isn’t our fight. Not really.”
Thomas blinks, taken aback. “I—”
“Look, Ekko made a threatening video but there are people in place to protect everyone. Police. Military, if it comes to that.” Virgil shakes his head, looking away from Thomas. “You just got these powers a few weeks ago. You can’t even control your sticking ability. And you really think you can just… take on this kind of fight?”
Thomas holds up a hand, his brow furrowing. “Virge… where is this coming from?”
“Common sense,” Virgil snaps. “Apparently, I’m the only one who has any of it.”
Thomas opens his mouth, then closes it. He doesn’t know what to say. Maybe Virgil has a point. They don’t even really know what Ekko is capable of, or where to find her, or what she’s planning. Meanwhile, Thomas can’t even fully control his own abilities. He’d been getting better, sure, but it wasn’t enough. Not yet. Maybe not in time.
And there were people in place to help protect others. Thomas was just one guy.
He’s pulled out of his thoughts at the sound of another one of his Sides rising up. Patton appears on the other side of the table, his arms crossed over his chest and a vaguely disapproving look in his eyes. Out of the corner of his eye, Thomas thinks he sees Virgil roll his eyes.
“Kiddo,” Patton says to Virgil carefully, even as he casts a quick glance at Thomas, “you’re coming across kinda harsh there.”
“But I’m right,” Virgil replies insistently. He huffs a frustrated sigh. “Listen, all Thomas is doing is putting himself in harm’s way when he doesn’t even need to. Why not leave this up to the authorities?”
Patton’s expression softens slightly. “Because Thomas has the ability to do something. He should use it.”
“Why? Just because someone can doesn’t always mean that someone should, Patton.”
It’s another good point. Thomas still doesn’t quite understand why Virgil was coming forward with these arguments now as opposed to earlier, but he supposes it doesn’t much matter. Maybe because Virgil felt that the web shooter formula made the whole thing feel a lot more real and sudden. Thomas certainly felt that way. Maybe that feeling was stemming from Virgil.
“It does if it means doing a good thing,” Patton insists.
Virgil seems to bristle slightly. “If a cat is stuck in a tree and you don’t know how to climb a tree, what do you do? You call the fire department. You don’t risk hurting yourself in an effort to get the cat yourself when you aren’t qualified to do it.”
“But Thomas can climb a tree.”
“It’s a metaphor.”
“I know, but even in the metaphor. Thomas has abilities, Virge.”
“So that makes him qualified to get involved?” Virgil stops for a moment and takes a deep breath. Some of the edge is gone from his voice when he speaks again, but the underlying frustration hasn’t left. “Thomas is in over his head. And I don’t want him to get hurt tackling a fight that isn’t his in the first place. Sometimes you have to pick your battles, Patton. Why does Thomas have to choose this one?”
The question is met with silence.
Thomas slips his hands into the pockets of his jeans and glances down at the linoleum floor between his feet. He studies the specks of blue amidst the white as if it will distract him from the tension in the room. The web fluid gurgling in the flask on the table between the three of them is the only sound for a long, uncomfortable moment. Virgil’s question seems to echo in Thomas’s head.
When Thomas finally glances up, Patton is looking at Virgil with something soft in his eyes. “Because it’s the one given to us. Maybe we don’t get to pick the battles, kiddo. Maybe… we lost that luxury when Thomas got these powers.”
“That’s not fair.”
Patton sighs. “It’s not. But with great power, comes great responsibility.”
Thomas swallows and nods. He speaks quietly, despite the weight he can feel settling in his chest. “And it’s my responsibility to do what I can to help. I… have to at least try.” He glances up at Virgil. “I don’t think I could live with myself if I didn’t give it that much.”
Thomas can see the tightness in Virgil’s jaw; something he can’t place flashes quickly through his eyes. “It’s not just Thomas at stake, you know. If he gets involved, he puts everyone he loves at risk. None of us want that.”
The reminder squeezes something in Thomas’s chest. “That’s why we’re making the suit, Virgil. To protect me and my loved ones.”
Even as he says it, though, he realizes Virgil’s point. The suit would only do so much. He looks around in the lab and realizes suddenly that he was putting Dr. Washington and Andrew at risk by involving them like he had. He’d almost asked Dahlia about advice on his suit construction and no matter how vague he’d been planning to keep it, it was still involving her. It was still putting her at risk, putting everyone at risk.
He had to stop. Nobody could know his identity, but nobody could be involved in this fight, either. Not unless Thomas was willing to risk his friends’ lives, and that… that wasn’t a price Thomas would ever be willing to pay.
“This… is my fight,” Thomas says, his voice tight. Patton and Virgil both look over at him. “But it’s mine alone. After today, nobody else gets involved. I can’t…” Thomas thinks about the look of raw fear in the hostages’ eyes during the bank robbery and the tearful, desperate reunion between Mikey and his mother. “I can’t take that risk.”
He sees Virgil opens his mouth but he’s cut off by the ding of the timer beside Thomas. The host blinks a second, forgetting for a brief moment what the timer had been set for in the first place. Then his gaze focuses on the flask in front of him. Right, Thomas remembers suddenly. Web fluid.
The timer meant that he needed to take it off the heat. Cool it down—which would occur quickly—filter and wash with C12H8O2, then add silica gel to purify the substance and… theoretically, it would be complete.
The rest of the process would take about five minutes. And then, well… Thomas could leave. He could keep Andrew and Dr. Washington from knowing the final product and maybe that would help protect them. When Thomas looks up again from the flask, Virgil and Patton have both left.
Thomas stands alone in the lab and keeps himself busy for the next several minutes walking methodically through the rest of the process. He can’t help his quick glances at the clock and the door, silently pleading that Andrew and Dr. Washington are at least longer than five minutes away. Thomas works in silence, but he barely realizes it. He just wants to finish this and get out as fast as he can.
He adds the silica gel and stirs it quickly with a glass rod. He can’t help the bubble of disbelieving laughter that bubbles in his chest as he watches the fluid react to the purifying process and oxidation, attaching to the glass rod as he pulls it out. The substance forms a cloudy-colored web of adhesion. It stays attached as Thomas tries to pull the glass rod out. It’s strong. So strong, in fact, that Thomas can’t pull it out.
Thomas grabs the other flask of the same substance that they’d had on stand-by (in case Thomas had been wrong about the filter liquid or the silica gel), and pours it into a vial with a stopper. He stashes some silica gel and C12H8O2 in separate vials. He shoves them into the outside pocket of his backpack before quickly shedding his lab coat.
Before he races out of the lab, he leaves a note and enough change to cover the dinner he wouldn’t be eating.
Had to rush out. Thanks for the help. -Thomas

I’ve listed everything I can think of that leads to the fact that I’m in love with him… there could be so much more.
It’s a terrifying thing if I were to be honest. I thought love was fast; it would hit you out of nowhere like a stray ball in the field. But this was slow; it took it’s time, weaved itself in little things so inconspicuously that it felt normal. It was when I noticed it did it began to bare its teeth, sinking its claws and holding tight with a vice grip to ensure its place on me.
Unnoticed. Unavoidable. Unforgettable.
It’s staked its claim and I can only hope it weakens in time.
The only other solution is to let it control me. Let it consume every word and action. The reward is uncertain, but often times, I found it tempting; those times it would present itself on a silver platter. I’d find myself reaching out to it, only to retract my hand in paranoia at the sight of a thorn.
Maybe he prefers roses; and I’m certainly not one.
I’ve made my decision that night and it’s proven to be a painfully difficult one. It’s been nearly a month, I’ve endured so much.
It’s pathetic to give in now, right?
Jaehyun knows this was wrong, but he wanted to surprise you like you did for him. He knows he couldn’t beat you; you gave him a puppy! How could he top that? He’s thought about your gift thoroughly and pooled enough money to get you a new camera for you to use during the photography classes you told him about before.
So here he was, snooping around your room to look for good place to hide it after your mom let him in. She had her run errands to buy him some time, but he had no fucking clue where. He stared at your desk, deeming it too risky to hide it there. He doubts you check under the bed often so that’s the best option he has, probably pull it out when he’s ready to give it to you.
Jaehyun drops to the floor, pushing your draped sheets away to give him a better view. It’s surprisingly clean - well, cleaner than he assumed. Just a few stray writing instruments, a shoebox, and - is that a bra?
He shoots up to his knees as if it was contagious. He exhales, almost annoyed, at how he can feel himself getting hot for recognizing the lacy fabric, but he shakes his head to derail the thought. He lies back down and ignores the brassiere, pulling out the shoebox from beneath to inspect it.
Scrawled onto the top was the unmistakable penmanship of Kang Yebin - it still boggles Jaehyun how you and Minkyung were friends with her - and it read, ‘Learn to love yourself, XOXO YB’ He takes back what he says, maybe he’s read Yebin’s brash and loud nature wrongly. He didn’t think any harm would be done if he takes a peek, right? It would probably be something like crystals or self-love books.
Oh, he was so wrong. It didn’t register at first what the elongated object was; it looked like a bigger version of a bullet. He only realized what it was when he tries to pick it up and it starts to vibrate. He can feel his face on fire as he tries to switch it off, pushing away the thoughts if you had used it or not - but all he can hope it was some crude joke Yebin pulled on her. Once it was off, he gently place it back in the box and closes it with a heavy breath.
“It’s not too late to learn new things about someone.” He grumbles, clearing his throat. He pushes the box back in and sits back up, eyeing the space of your bed that’s flushed against your side table. It barely gets even a sliver of light and he’s hoping the shadow would be dark enough to conceal his gift. He jams his gift there and hopes for the best.
Rising back up to his feet, he looks back to your desk where you kept a photo of your family and a photo of the two of you tacked on the small cork board you had on a mini easel along with other paper memorabilia like tickets and receipts. He remembers when the photo of you were taken: it was his last day in Korea before they temporarily moved to America.
He feels himself blush at the one keypoint of the memory. Before he left, he made a promise that you seemed to forget and maybe that was for the better because it would have been incredibly embarrassing if you had.
“I’ll come back from America, and when I do, I’ll marry you!”
It was such a bold statement for a four year old.
His phone vibrates in his pocket, giving him a small fright. It was only Jangmi, asking about your gift. As he types a reply, he notices a drawer slightly open and something in his gut told him to check it out. He’s already seen what he can label the worse beneath your bed - unless it’s a box of condoms, even worse if it’s nearly empty. He huffs at himself for even thinking about you that way, prying the drawer open.
Jaehyun recognizes the journals piled up; he’s seen you fill them up for years. He can even make out the first journal he’s gotten you near the bottom of the pile. As he was just about to close it, he notices something odd - odd, in terms of it being unfamiliar to him.
He wrestles it out of the weight of the journals on top of it and puts it on top of the desk. It was brown and thin, unlike the rest that varied colors and were at least an inch thick in width. He flips open to the first page and reads, ‘My physics teacher is driving me insane.’ and it continues to go on about their teacher.
He flips to another page and it talked about the day her parents fought and words like divorce and cheating came about. He remembers that day; he was so concerned when he heard the shouting that he wanted to check up on you, but you weren’t responding to his messages. He luckily caught you outside before he dragged you to his room and drowned out the screaming with music. He’s glad it was a false alarm, just her parents getting too heated and careless with their words. On the notebook, you went on to write about how they sat you down and apologized for their behavior. From how some of the inked words bled, he could tell you were crying when you wrote it.
As he continues to flip through the pages, he’s starting to understand the purpose of the notebook. It was merely a diary where you can write out your thoughts. You didn’t care for mistakes or calligraphy, or tapes or photos. You just wanted to get it off your chest.
Jaehyun sighs, feeling a little guilty he went through your personal thoughts and proceed to close it until he catches a sentence he thought he misread. He returns to the page and reads it once, twice, until he’s sure he’s not making it up.
‘I think I’m in love with Jaehyun’
He’s staring hard at it as he restrains himself from reading further because he knows this was wrong. His heart is beating so hard, he thinks it could jump right out of his chest. Without another thought, he continues to read.
‘... I’ve endured so much. It’s pathetic to give in now, right?’
Jaehyun knows this is wrong. This is what he went into her room for, but the hours your mom bought for him to find a good hiding spot for his gift was used to read through her private journal - specifically to read about pages after pages on how you were in love with him. He couldn’t process this properly. He closes the notebook and puts it back right where he got it, making sure it seemed it hadn’t moved an inch.
When he closes the drawer, he picks up his phone and dials a number.
“Jangmi? Jangmi, you were right.” He breathes, running a hand through his hair. “She’s in love with m-me… she has feelings for me. What do I do?”
He finds himself gawking at your photo and being reminded of the one thing he can remember from that day, “Jang, how do I tell her I love her back?”
14 ways to say you love them too
author’s ending note: aaaahhhh and it’s done!! for now ehe (⁎⁍̴̛ᴗ⁍̴̛⁎) this was such a blast to write, i mean, yeah, i crammed most of them and i personally think some are rushed, but hopefully it all connects! thanks to everyone who’s been waiting for it to update, the encouraging words, and of course, the love and patience!! i’m sorry for trolling, but both this and the sequel have been on my mind since january, okay. i wanted to do something for jaehyun’s birthday and i really hope it exceeds everyone’s expectations.
happy birthday once again to our peachy prince who deserves a puppy in real life, jaehyun 💖

20 Facts About the Making of Star Wars: The Phantom Menace
Twenty years ago, Star Wars: The Phantom Menace graced movie theaters with an excitement level that’s still talked about today. But it wasn’t an easy path to get there. From developing film techniques & technology that seem common now, to a massive storm wiping out most of the Mos Espa set in Tunisia, there’s more to the story of making of Episode I than you probably know.
The Making of Episode I: The Phantom Menace, written by Laurent Bouzereau and Jody Duncan, was also released in 1999 and features candid tales of the production direct from writer and director George Lucas, the cast, and the crew of one of the most anticipated films in history. In addition, Lucasfilm produced a number of behind-the-scenes features that explored the making of the movie.
Check below for 20 behind-the-scenes facts and anecdotes straight from the people who were there.

1. George Lucas wrote the Episode I script by hand with just pencil and notebook paper. In fact, he writes all of his scripts this way.
2. One of the biggest influences on the making of The Phantom Menace was The Young Indiana Jones Chronicles. Not only did a significant number of the television series’ crew and production team later work on The Phantom Menace, some of the techniques they perfected while filming the series were then used on Episode I. Rick McCallum, producer of the prequel trilogy, called the show a “testing bed to learn a new way of making films.”

3. Jar Jar Binks was originally designed with green skin. The design team later realized that most aquatic creatures on our own planet don’t sport green hues, so they changed his skin tone to orange instead.

4. Yaddle is actually an early “young Yoda” design. Concept artist Iain McCaig began designing the Jedi Master’s younger look as an eight-year-old version of the character. “That concept eventually became another Jedi in the film, Yaddle,” he revealed.
5. The moving mechanism inside Threepio’s head is a missile gyroscope. Chief Model Maker Lorne Peterson had found it and let the effects team borrow it, he said in the making-of featurette “Discoveries from Inside: Models & Miniatures.”

6. The design of the heavy troop transport in The Phantom Menace, the MTT, was inspired by elephants. In the featurette “Conversations: Doug Chiang Looks Back,” the concept artist talked about using familiar shapes to help the audience understand a design on a basic level. “If you look at the front of the MTT, the tiny little slits represent the elephant’s eyes and his forehead,” said Chiang. “And the trunk, I turned into the door, and the tusks actually become the two guns on the sides. “

7. Costume colors are specific to the planets of the galaxy far, far away. Iain McCaig and costume designer Trisha Biggar worked together to create the palettes: gray, brown, and black for Coruscant, green and gold for Naboo, and sun-bleached sandy colors for Tatooine.

8. Ewan McGregor had dialogue coaching to prepare for his role. He worked hard to capture the calming tones and inflections of Sir Alec Guinness to best play the character, which he called “quite tricky.”

9. Samuel L. Jackson got the role of Mace Windu in part through an appearance on the British talk show TFI Friday to promote a different movie. The casting director for The Phantom Menace, Robin Gurland, heard that Jackson made his wish to be in the new Star Wars known while chatting on the talk show, and the rest is history.
10. Ahmed Best was discovered through his performance in the theater show Stomp. Gurland happened to catch the show and spotted Best in the cast. His energy and performance made her realize, “He’s Jar Jar!”

11. Greg Proops and Scott Capurro recorded their podracing commentary in prosthetics and makeup. The footage would later be used as reference for their digital characters, Fode and Beed.

12. Plo Koon was named after the son of creature effects supervisor Nick Dudman. “I decided to call one of the Jedi Plonkoon, because we called my son that during his first year of life,” he said. “I wrote down Plonkoon, George crossed out the n and Plo Koon was born!”
13. The three Wookiees in the Galactic Senate all wore the same Chewbacca costume from the Lucasfilm archive. The actor in the old suit was filmed three different times with slight adjustments made to the hair. “When the shots were put together, we ended up with three different Wookiees out of one suit,” said Dudman.

14. The very first scene of The Phantom Menace that was filmed featured Darth Sidious and Darth Maul. Their balcony chat on Coruscant marked the beginning of production in 1997.
15. After a monstrous storm destroyed almost everything on the Mos Espa set, the Tunisian army helped rebuild it. Thanks to the fact that one set was luckily left in one piece — the landing ramp of the Naboo Royal Starship — plus the efforts of the entire crew and local helpers, production continued without delay.

16. The Jedi and Sith went through three hundred aluminum lightsaber blades while filming The Phantom Menace. Stunt coordinator Nick Gillard helped build the new lightsabers for the physically and mentally intensive duels.

17. Watto only has one full tusk so the audience can see his mouth move accurately when he speaks. The Toydarian was originally designed with two large tusks on either side of his trunk-like nose, but they would have prevented his lips from fully shaping words with an m or a b. One tusk was broken off and his lopsided smile was born.
18. Watto was also the first CG character that the effects team went to work on. Through his design and motions, the team quickly learned how to achieve what they wanted on featured digital characters. Even just the cord on his tool belt had to have its own computer program written to simulate its movement properly. (The same program would later be used for Jar Jar’s flapping ears.)
19. Some of the audience members at the Boonta Eve Classic podrace crowd are colorful cotton swabs. Sometimes practical effects work best to achieve just the right three-dimensional look for faraway shots, and a model maker had the creative idea to use the swabs in the arena models.

20. Some of the cheers and jeers emanating from the audience at the podrace are from a San Francisco 49ers game. Sound designer Ben Burtt recorded crowd reactions at the football game himself.

Chapter 3 Trial: Consequences (#14)
“There weren’t any chairs or other obstructions in front of the door...”
“...but there was still something there.”
“Oh?”
“The floor had some footprints leading out of the room. They weren’t very clear, but it was in some sort of whitish powder.”
“Powder?”
“Ashes, ya think?”
“No. I think they were left before the fire broke out. In fact, they’re probably Yuki’s, from when she was carrying away leftovers.”
“Yuki, mon cher? Did you step in anything?”
“I don’t think so...?”
“Yuki. Did you just walk to the tables and back out again?”
“Hummmm... That sounds right.”
“If that got powder on her shoes, it must have been on the floor somewhere around there.”
“Don’t you think it could have specifically been in front of the door?”
“Oho! And just a bit of powder was enough to keep them hostage inside? Perhaps you suspect it was gunpowder?”
“Where the crap is somebody going to get gunpowder?”
“Yeah, with all of the guns and bullets gone, I don’t think that’s likely.”
"Salt, then? That would be just as sure to burn the fools.”
“That is... not the direction I was going with that.”
“Kay den. Anthrax?”
“...”
I’m starting to wonder why I bother.
“Just... something else that's flammable? Because you can’t get to the door if there’s fire in the way.”
“...Or something. I don’t know. Sorry.”
“No, that’s exactly what I meant.”
“Even when we made it to the scene, Arthur was only pounding at the glass. He’d obviously given up on trying to get out the door.”
“Woulda been hard to find it with his face all burned up.”
“It would have already been difficult to see anything through the smoke.”
“So 'f 's not gunpowder, what else we got?”
"Was it something, like, any of us coulda made off with?"
“That could be a clue if we can figure it out.”
I'm not sure how to narrow the field, though. Do I have something on hand that might help?
WHAT COULD HELP IDENTIFY THE POWDER?
[Itsurou’s Notebook] [Coffee Maker(s?)] [Cymbal] [Foul-Smelling Ball] [Footprints] [Guitar String] [Handwritten Note] [Drum Set] [Garden Gloves] [Fertilizer] [Heartbreaker Notes] [Broken Cabinet] [Flare Pieces] [Concert Schedule] [Monofile 3] [Monofile 4] [Incendiary Notes] [Fingerprint Records]
