Note
they have a point though. you wouldn't need everyone to accommodate you if you just lost weight, but you're too lazy to stick to a healthy diet and exercise. it's that simple. I'd like to see you back up your claims, but you have no proof. you have got to stop lying to yourselves and face the facts
Must I go through this again? Fine. FINE. You guys are working my nerves today. You want to talk about facing the facts? Let's face the fucking facts.
In 2022, the US market cap of the weight loss industry was $75 billion [1, 3]. In 2021, the global market cap of the weight loss industry was estimated at $224.27 billion [2].
In 2020, the market shrunk by about 25%, but rebounded and then some since then [1, 3] By 2030, the global weight loss industry is expected to be valued at $405.4 billion [2]. If diets really worked, this industry would fall overnight.

Over 50 years of research conclusively demonstrates that virtually everyone who intentionally loses weight by manipulating their eating and exercise habits will regain the weight they lost within 3-5 years. And 75% will actually regain more weight than they lost [4].

Doctors became so desperate that they resorted to amputating parts of the digestive tract (bariatric surgery) in the hopes that it might finally result in long-term weight-loss. Except that doesn’t work either. [6] And it turns out it causes death [7],  addiction [8], malnutrition [9], and suicide [7].

Studies have observed that about 30% of so-called “normal weight” people are “unhealthy” whereas about 50% of so-called “overweight” people are “healthy”. Thus, using the BMI as an indicator of health results in the misclassification of some 75 million people in the United States alone [20].

While epidemiologists use BMI to calculate national obesity rates (nearly 35% for adults and 18% for kids), the distinctions can be arbitrary. In 1998, the National Institutes of Health lowered the overweight threshold from 27.8 to 25—branding roughly 29 million Americans as fat overnight—to match international guidelines. But critics noted that those guidelines were drafted in part by the International Obesity Task Force, whose two principal funders were companies making weight loss drugs [21].

Religiously
I worshiped you like a dog  ㅡ my heaven-sent divine.
Pathetically so, in vain, crucified by the grapevine.
Through stained glass, I saw you as a false god.
To my blind faith, you gave a devil's nod.
I built a shrine for your heart alone;
In the aisle of shame, I carried your cross ㅡ crushed were my bones.
I sculpted you ㅡ like a deity on a pedestal;
Oh, how I prayed for our sacred union to be transcendental.
Hopeful of eternity, I engraved our love in stone.
Still, you wandered the streets like a rolling stone.
With a broken spirit, I preach of praise and penitence.
A martyr ㅡ will I ever drop your burden with the pretense?
You made me feel holy ㅡ crowning me with thorns.
When I was on bended knees, you could have sworn.
Afraid of a stay that's prolonged,
you left after my ode.
On your altar, lay all my sacrifices and devotion.
What started as my newfound salvation,
ended as my recurrent damnation.

read your TS post and honestly just find it quite interesting that so many things you criticize when it comes to bts whether some members as people or artists...are all present in TS if not even more, and suddenly when it comes to this white woman that is an awful performer, write the same kind of dull repetitive music always clutching at the same topics, doesn't renew herself as an artist, is full of white feminism bullshit, and a chart obsessed person are all things you never seem to mention. Like the biased perspective when it comes to her is quiet something by all her fans.
Because I don't discuss Taylor Swift in this blog. This isn't a freaking Taylor Swift blog.
And also, because I don't care. She never promised anyone anything, she never set herself up as a role model or beacon for social injustices like BTS did. Taylor fans either aren't running up and down every known platform screaming how much of an activist she is the way armys do with BTS. Taylor isn't called BulletproofGirlz and her fans aren't called Adorable Representative M.C. For Youth. She never went from being Yes I'm the voice of the underdogs and the misunderstood to it being just a concept and god forsaken debut name.
You sound insufferable so I won't really reply to more than this and I won't look for the post myself, but there's actually a post where I make fun and criticize armys who were "disappointed" in BTS because they said something misogynistic or homophobic. I actually think it's on the verge of IDIOTIC to look for artists to stan/like only so you can bring up their "good deeds" and make yourself feel better. Because you're literally the only one cares about this online moral competition.
In that same post I said I don't care that BTS don't speak on feminism because they're not women, and because I have real people, local heroes to look up to.
In fact, the only time I ever mentioned being slightly disappointed that they didn't use a gay couple, was on the permission to dance MV. If anything, most if not all my posts are actually making fun of armys for believing BTS to be, and talking about them as if they were the biggest activists that ever lived. I don't even talk about them, I talk about the perception army has of them.
And if you're that Beyonce fan, let's not even go there. Link me to Beyonce's many acts supporting feminism. Representation is not enough, I mean donations or posts calling awareness to women's isuess. She doesn't write her own music, either, which is something I have repeatedly seen seen pjms/hive call out vkook for.
Also another thing Taylor never claimed to be: a performer. Everybody knows she's not a performer. She knows she's not a performer. She never promised people anything, so why would I expect her to put on a show? Why would I feel cheated and robbed if I went to her concert and she didn't do full choreography when I know she never did?
I don't think she's a bad songwriter at all, and even the moments when she is (because there are songs I don't like and songs I never listen to), I'm okay with it, too. I'm not a fan of people only to say "look at me I'm a fan of this person that makes me so much better than all of you". I've always liked her songs, and I still like them and I do think they're good. If you don't think so, I really don't give a fuck.. like seriously.
You know what, if you wouldn't have had the need to just argue for the sake or arguing, you would've seen me post an ask I have on drafts about her album where I specifically mention that I agree her sound is stale in this album. Because I do like people a lot and still have my own personality and opinions.
Tumblr media
I've always liked her for her music, and I still like her music. If I criticize BTS is for things they used to do, but stopped doing. It's about things they used to be, but stopped being. If someone goes from making good music, to doing music I think it's terrible of course I'm going to have an opinion. I love Harry Styles' first two albums but think as it was is ugly and the whole album is terribly wrong - and I've said it. Like two tweeks ago I was here, sharing old BTS songs because I still think those songs are good. Why am I not allowed to say that at some point they started making bad music? Why amd I not allowed to say they used to do great coreographies and now they're all out of synch and dance poorly?? Taylor never did some of that and then stopped doing it, so what exactly am I going to call her out for?
"The things you never seem to mention" have you realized that I just don't discuss Taylor in this blog? Because it's not a Taylor blog, it really isn't deeper than that. We're only talking about her now because of her album, otherwise I've posted about her what - 5 times in the span of years???
I thought Jimin crying in MOTS concert online was kind of silly considering he was paying million dollars for rent at that time while many people were out of jobs. I can empathize with him and it was sad to see him cry because I'd been rooting for him to go on tour and do everything he wanted to do, because I like Jimin as a person and an artist - so I'm simply rooting for him. I can feel all that while simultaneously being aware of how privileged he was, and still is. And that his pain was bad, but when put in the context of the pandemic, his life wasn't on the line. Jimin himself said in an interview that he was thinking about how young he is and how much money he's earning and what to do with it. Not in an obnoxious, arrogant way but as a form of self-reflection. I respect that. He knows that he's got more money than the regular person, but he also goes through hard times mentally.
Jimin donates so much money every year and has been doing it for a long time - I think that's amazing and I share the posts that report on it because I really believe it's awesome and It's exactly what I would do if I had the money. I was particularly moved when he donated money to buy polio vaccines.
But I'm not asking him to do any of it. I'm not waking up every other thinking "I hope Jimin does some charity today so I can yap about it to losers on tumblr." It's simply not something I think about Jimin or ANYONE. If he does, it's good. If he doesn't, I'll still like him.
I bring this up to repeat something I've said about Jimin and BTS a million times: I don't pity them.
I don't pity Taylor either and I'm not asking anything from her.
Likewise, I'm able to read the lyrics "you wouldn't last a day in the asylum where they raised me" and know that it's just a lyric and giggle at the memes that make fun of that because she's lived a fairly awesome life. That's songwriting to you, btw. Not everything is literal.
I've never been interested in Taylor Swift's life, and I've spent literal years not knowing one single thing about it, but if she said "new music this friday" you bet I was going to be there, waiting for it. Same goes for Harry Styles and so many other people I listen to. And I've talked a dozen times about how I'm hoping it'll get to the point where I'll be able to be that kind of Jimin fan, as well. Where I don't care what he does or where he is, but I'll still be always curious to hear his new music.

Aro-ace on the town
Tumblr media
Every night is girl's night, so why not wear aro-ace flag colors to celebrate!
Tumblr media
Wow, the photo is wholesome and heartwarming though the situation is heartbreaking. We stand with Sophie!
I woke up yesterday to a text from my sister saying that Taylor had pulled a Lady Harriet with Sophie Turner, a reference to possibly my favorite novel, Wives & Daughters. The m.c., Molly, becomes disgraced in her small town because of slander. Lady Harriet hears and knows the guy involved in the sitch is sketch af plus she is rooting for Molly...so she takes Molly out on the town literally and visits all the shops so the townspeople will know she's Lady Harriet-endorsed because the townspeople revere the local aristocrats. This probably makes no sense but it is the best novel and there is a great BBC adaptation that is very accessible even if you don't like costume dramas. It's just this fascinating read on toxic relationships of different kinds.
Well, my thoughts and prayers are with Sophie and Taylor 🧡💛🤍💙

A-T-4 149 Does 1 Like Scratchin'?
Unlike the cut ups and megamixes I posted yesterday these are original tracks that feature the dj's skills as a musician. Some are a-sides others are scratch versions of a vocal track (usually) found on the b-side
The releases of The Adventures Of Grandmaster Flash On The Wheels Of Steel in 1981, Buffalo Gals in 1982, and Rockit in 1983, (the latter two being major chart hits) put scratching on the map. Unsurprisingly there's a wave of scratch records that come out in 1984 and I'm listing my favourites over two posts
youtube
Chris "The Glove" Taylor & Dave Storrs with Karlos Z and Victor Flores - Itchiban Scratch west coast weirdness. Itchiban Scratch is as sublime as it is strange. Chris "The Glove" Taylor is a west coast hip hop legend. He was in the film Breakin' (Breakdance in Europe). In 1984 he made a handful of great records with new age synth wizard Dave Storrs (making great use of a TB-303 here), for instance the two produce Rough Cut for Kid Frost with Yella on the turntables. I hope to do a post on these two. It seems to be well know many of the samples used on Itchiban Scratch come from an easy to find Batman album but what I'd like to know is where did those British kids come from? Watch Your Step
youtube
Knights Of The Turntables - Techno Scratch we're still in LA with the slightly less weird Knights Of The Turntables and the classic Techno Scratch. It's almost minimal techno. The follow up 1985's Fresh Mess is equally good imo. These guys are not to be confused with the Knights Of The Turntables released in 1985 by Tommy Musto & Tommi Sozzi on the east coast under the name "Dynamic Duo" with scratches by Lenny Dee
youtube
Dr. Dre and Unknown - Scratchin' 100 Speakers Dr.Dre is the west coast nowadays, here he is with the king of the 808 The Unknown DJ. Clean and simple 808 beats and scratching. The cuts and scratches remind me of Mixmaster D.ST with a touch of Chuck Chillout
youtube
Imperial Brothers - We Come To Rock (We Dub To Scratch Mix) crossing over to the east coast. This is Imperial Brothers debut for Aldo Marin's Cutting Records, it's produced by Hashim and Marin, engineered by Jay Burnett, and the scratches come from Whiz Kid. I love both sides but today we're all about scratching
youtube
Davy DMX - One For The Treble (Fresh) another with British vocals on it. Davy DMX is a DJ and guitarist (check the dedicate guitars on this thing) and founding member of Orange Krush with Larry Smith. As you can hear he's cutting Run's line "Dave cut the record down to the bone" from the early Run DMC classic Sucker M.C.’s (Krush‐Groove 1) - If I remember correctly it's Davy DMX that did the drum programming for Sucker M.C.s, you can read the story here. Orange Krush were also Kurtis Blow’s live band, after they separate Davy DMX carries on working for Kurtis Blow
youtube
Cold Crush Brothers - Fresh Wild Fly and Bold : It's Us perhaps the Cold Crush Brothers best recording... and here's the version without the vocals. DJs Tony Tone and Charlie Chase were both founding members of the legendary bronx crew and this track gives them time to shine
youtube
Master O.C. & Krazy Eddie Featuring Peso, Tito & Main Attraction - Masters Of The Scratch the DJs Master O.C. & Krazy Eddie were founding members of the Fearless Four. The Great Peso and Devastating Tito also take time out of the Fearless Four for the first of two Master O.C. & Krazy Eddie singles. Master O.C. will produce both Main Attraction's own singles, the second co-produced with Special K is the excellent There's Nothin Good About Frontin'

Written by Brooke Moriber, with Jessica Cayne and Karen Kosowski, “So Do I” is a song about admitting your regrets in ending a relationship and hoping that the one you lost feels as lost without you as you do without them. “So Do I” was produced by Karen Kosowski, Mixed by Craig Alvin and Mastered by Greg Calbi. The record was Engineered by David Kalmusky at Addiction Sound Studios (Nashville TN) and by Karen Kosowski at The Holodeck South (Nashville TN) featuring musicians Sol Littlefield on electric guitars, Marc Rogers – Electric Bass & Synth Bass, Justin Schipper – Steel, Chad Cromwell – Drums and Nathan Chapman on Acoustic Guitar, Resonator Guitar + Banjo. When the disease went into remission after a difficult four years, Brooke began traveling to Nashville to tell her own stories. Praised for her “clarion voice” (Associated press), she went on to release her first single “Cry Like A Girl” independently and later signed with Nashville’s Reviver Records. Brooke’s music has been featured on Spotify’s New Music Friday Country (Little Bit of You, Half A Heart, Down to Nothing) and Country Christmas playlists (All I Want for Christmas is You), Sirius XM’s Velvet, CMT online, Music Choice Network and the Music Row Country Breakout radio chart. Hailed as a “stellar songwriter and a powerhouse vocalist” (Country Swag) and a “force to be reckoned with in Country music” (Celeb Secrets Country). Horror review: Breakdown
ORIGINALLY PUBLISHED IN THE GEORGIA STRAIGHT, MAY 15, 1997
By Steve Newton
The scariest breakdown I ever had occurred about 10 years ago on a Granville Bridge on-ramp during afternoon rush hour. My ’68 Polara with the busted fuel gauge ran out of gas halfway up the curving incline to the bridge, and I had to frantically back the dead beater down and around while freaked-out drivers bringing up the rear swerved to avoid saying howdy to my sizeable hunk of American metal.
I was feeling pretty rattled by the time I manœuvred the sitting duck out of harm’s way, but compared to what the guy in Breakdown goes through when his vehicle conks out, my fast-beating heart would have instantly qualified me for Wuss of the Year.
Kurt Russell portrays Jeff Taylor, an average guy with an average name, whom we meet while he and his wife, Amy (Apollo 13’s Kathleen Quinlan), are moving from Boston to San Diego to start a new life together. To make the trip, the couple has invested heavily in a shiny new Jeep Grand Cherokee, and although the fine set of wheels is well-suited to a lengthy road trip, it also attracts the attention of a four-man gang of criminal scumbuckets, led by two-faced trucker Red Barr (J.T. Walsh).
When the Taylors’ sabotaged vehicle breaks down on a desolate stretch of desert highway, Amy catches a ride in Barr’s 18-wheeler to phone for mechanical help, and before you can say “The Vanishing”—or “the remake of The Vanishing”—she vanishes. Although Breakdown certainly resembles a compacted version of George Sluizer’s Americanized remake of his 1988 Dutch/French psychothriller, it actually owes a lot more to The Hitcher in terms of tone, atmosphere, and execution. Sequences from that ’86 action thriller—C. Thomas Howell sprinting between trailers at a truck stop, or barely avoiding a head-on collision—are duplicated, with Russell now playing the put-upon protagonist.
But what it lacks in originality, Breakdown makes up for with fierce action, nail-biting suspense, and some fine performances. Walsh—who was so creepily effective as the chair-dragging asylum perv in Sling Blade—reaches new levels of loathsomeness, and his transformation from Good Samaritan to sicko slimebag is a fine piece of work. M.C. Gainey and Jack Noseworthy also hit the mark as Barr’s brutal cohorts Earl and Billy, whose degenerate mentalities make it easy to sympathize with Russell’s initially vulnerable, ordinary Joe.
The aim of Breakdown is to get the audience thirsting madly for the blood of its villains, and by show’s end it achieves that primal goal. I, for one, got so caught up in the righteous vengeance-seeking that even the climax’s Schwarzenegger-type coup de grâce didn’t seem all that far-fetched.
