معناه: لا يزال الرجل يعيب الناس ويذكر مساويهم حتى يكون أسوأهم حالا، مما يلحقه من الإثم في عيبهم والإزراء بهم والوقيعة فيهم. ((معالم السنن)) للخطابي (4/ 132). والمعنى المذكورُ على روايةِ الرَّفعِ على أنَّ (أهلَكُهم): أفعلُ تفضيلٍ، وأمَّا على روايةِ النَّصبِ على أنَّ (أهلَكَهم) فعلٌ ماضٍ، فالمعنى هو جَعَلهم هالكينَ لا أنهم هلكوا في الحقيقةِ. قال النوويُّ: (واتَّفق العُلَماءُ على أنَّ هذا الذَّمَّ إنما هو فيمن قاله على سبيلِ الإزراءِ على النَّاسِ واحتقارِهم وتفضيلِ نفسِه عليهم وتقبيحِ أحوالِهم؛ لأنَّه لا يعلَمُ سِرَّ اللهِ في خَلقِه، قالوا: فأمَّا من قال ذلك تحزُّنًا لِما يرى في نفسِه وفي النَّاسِ من النَّقصِ في أمرِ الدِّينِ، فلا بأسَ عليه). قال القاضي عياض في "مشارق الأنوار": قيل معناه: إذا قال ذلك استحقارا لهم واستصغارا لا تحزنًا وإشفاقا، فما اكتسب من الذنب بذكرهم وعجبه بنفسه أشد. وقيل: هو أنساهم لله، وقال مالك معناه أفلسهم وأدناهم، وقيل: معناه في أهل البدع والغالين الذين يؤيسون الناس من رحمة الله، ويوجبون لهم الخلود بذنوبهم إذا قال ذلك في أهل الجماعة ومن لم يقل ببدعته. وعلى رواية النصب معناه: أنهم ليسوا كذلك ولا هلكوا إلا من قوله، لا حقيقة من قبل الله اهـ. وقال ابن الأثير في "النهاية": يروى بفتح الكاف وضمها، فمن فتحها كان فعلا ماضيا، ومعناه: إن الغالين الذين يؤيسون الناس من رحمة الله يقولون هلك الناس، أي: استوجبوا النار بسوء أعمالهم، فإذا قال الرجل ذلك فهو الذي أوجبه لهم لا الله تعالى، وأما على رواية الضم فمعناه: فهو أهلكهم أي: أكثرهم هلاكا، وهو الرجل يولع بعيب الناس ويذهب بنفسه عجبا ويرى له عليهم فضلا. وقد رواه الإمام أحمد في "المسند" ولفظه: { إذا سمعتم رجلا يقول قد هلك الناس فهو أهلكهم يقول الله إنه هالك } وهذه الرواية ترجح رواية الرفع، ورواه أبو نعيم في "الحلية" بلفظ: { فهو من أهلكهم } أي: أشدهم هلاكا، والله أعلم. موقع ابن جبرين رحمه الله

نَهى الإسلامُ وحذَّرَ مِنِ احتقارِ النَّاسِ وتَنقيصِهم، أو تَقنيطِهم مِن رَحمةِ اللهِ وغُفرانِه، أو التَّرفُّعِ عليهم بالأعمالِ الصَّالحةِ؛ لأنَّ اللهَ سُبحانَه وتَعالَى بيَدِه مَقاليدُ الأمورِ، والقلوبُ بيْن يَدَيه يُقلِّبُها كيْف يَشاءُ، ويَحكُمُ في خَلقِه بما شاء. وفي هذا الحديثِ يُخبِرُ النَّبيُّ صلَّى اللهُ عليه وسلَّمَ أنَّ الإنسانَ إِذا قال: «هَلكَ النَّاسُ»، أيِ: استَوجَبوا عِقابَ اللهِ عليهم، وإنَّما قال ذلك إعجابًا بنَفسِه وتَصاغرًا للنَّاسِ، «فهوَ أَهلَكُهم»، رُوِيَ: «أَهْلَكهم» بضَمِّ الكافِ وفَتحِها، ورِوايةُ الضَّمِّ أَشهَرُ، ومَعناها: فهو أسبَقُهم لهذا العِقابِ وأحقُّهم به؛ لِما وَقَع فيه مِن الغُرورِ والإعجابِ بصَلاحِه، ورِوايةُ الفتْحِ مَعناها: أنَّه تَسبَّبَ في هَلاكِهم؛ لِما يَترتَّبُ عليه مِن يَأسِ النَّاسِ وقُنوطِهم مِن رَحمةِ اللهِ بسَببِ قولِه ذلك. وقد اتَّفَقَ العُلماءُ على أنَّ هذا الذَّمَّ إنَّما هو فيمَن يَقولُه على سَبيلِ احتقارِ النَّاسِ وتَفضيلِ نفْسِه عليهم وتَقبيحِ أحوالِهِم؛ لأنَّه لا يَعلَمُ سِرَّ اللهِ في خَلْقِه، وأمَّا مَن قال ذلك تَحزُّنًا لِما يَرى في نفْسِه وفي النَّاسِ مِن النَّقصِ في أمْرِ الدِّينِ، أو قال ذلك مُقارَنةً بيْن أحوالِ النَّاسِ في زَمانِه وبيْن أحوالِ الصَّحابة والصَّالِحين؛ فلا بَأسَ عليه، وقدْ أخبَرَ النَّبيُّ صلَّى اللهُ عليه وسلَّمَ أنَّه لا يَأْتِي زَمانٌ إلَّا الَّذي بَعْدَه شَرٌّ منه، كما أخرَجَه البخاريُّ. وفي الحديثِ: النَّهيُ عنِ العُجبِ والكِبْرِ. وفيهِ: النَّهيُ عنِ القُنوطِ مِن رَحمةِ اللهِ. الدرر السنية

f a man says: "People are ruined" with the intention of degrading and belittling them and considering himself in a higher rank and better position than them, he shall be the most ruined among them. The wording of another narration reads: "...he man will ruin people." In this case, it means this man is a reason for their being ruined, because he causes them to despair and lose hope in the mercy of Allah. By doing so, he prevents them from returning to Allah in repentance and pushes them in the way of despair until they become ruined. Whenever you go into a store in Japan, no matter what store, you'll be greeted with a "Good morning", "Good day", or "Welcome!". Like... even if you just pass by, they say something without looking at you. It's supposed to make you feel welcome, although it sounds more like a chorus of echoes.

But the greet. Every time. Which is why, me, being born in a small town and halfway raised on the country side, what do I do? Right, I greet back. If someone greets me with a smile, I just can not not greet back (with a smile).

Japanese often don't greet back, I think it's just normal for them...

Anyway, perhaps I went to that drugstore a few too many times recently (they got stuff cheaper than at the supermarket), but I already recognise so many faces ahahaha.

They always look so genuinely happy! And by now I can distinguish between a fake welcome smile and a genuine one. (So many fake ones, poor souls...)

And when I go to the 100 Yen store close by, there's a clerk who always comes to me just to greet me. Like, she sees me entering and then walks around the corner, smiles brightly and bows and greets me. Lovely. She looks so happy just to see me.
