I am clutching the last episode of 4 Minutes to my chest, gratefully and with relief. I did not expect the extent of the happy ending we got.

Anti-Romance vol 1-2 by Shoko Hidaka {finished: 4.5 stars} - I really really liked this manga. It was slow but in an intentional way, and the side characters were all wonderful and contributed to the plot in their own ways that made sense. It's not a grand love story, but a low and slow friends to lovers one. I would adore seeing it adapted as a drama.

4 Minutes {finished: 4.5 stars} - Lost half a star for last week's opening, but other than that I thoroughly enjoyed myself every week with this show. As to the last episode, I liked it and considering Triage and Manner of Death, I'm not surprised that Great and Tyme got their happy ending. Or did they? There is definitely room for doubt, since we never actually saw either of them wake up. It's fun to ponder and there is a lot of space left for fanfic, which is somewhat unusual for BLs.

Kidnap, ep 2 - I went in to this episode doubting I'd continue with the drama, but then the show gave us nightmare soothing and a caretaking main lead in Min. Also, Min's little brother is adorable.

Monster Next Door, ep 8 - I was hoping we'd get more advancement of the Tan thread they've been teasing, but they chose to focus most of the time on God's band. We did get Wan beginning to have an epiphany (hopefully?) about his feelings for Beer. The whole laundry room scene was cute. I really like the actor playing Wan. He plays the 'annoying yet cute friend' archetype in the least annoying way possible, which I'm appreciating so much.

RAP:Public Ep 4 Thoughts

Rap:public ep.4

Block 4 and Block 5 are facing each other. (spoilers as usual)

Khundi Panda saying there no beat he can do well. Oh man, this is not a good place to be in since he's one of the strongest on his team.

They said they think Punchnello can't be beaten by anybody in block 5. I'm glad nello knows their expectations are too high. He can definitely be beat by multiple people on the right instrumental.

Punchnello wants to do the death match but does he not understand the deatatch or some thing. I hope Boi B reels him in and is like "NO"! You'd wanna get rid of the weakest rappers first and protect the strongest. Maybe nello doesn't believe he'll do well, or wants to save one of the smaller, less established rappers? Maybe he already got paid an appearance fee or something and is fine to just risk leaving cause he already got some money.

He says he doesn't have confidence and is scared to let the team down. Minhyuk asks,"Are you struggling to adjust to the show?" Really good question. I don't think nello has as much to worry about as he thinks tbh

I think Boi B did put him up instead of ryul. I feel like a lot of leaders are still to scared to put their foot down. I get that it's early. Eventually, they'll have to start doing it. They probably don't wanna risk alienating the team too early.

The "reusing verses" thing is still in effect? Isn't there people who used up ALL of their verses in Infinite Cypher? I hope this rule ends soon. It seems too restrictive unless they are trying to encourage people to write new verses while they are lounging around rap:public.

First is Cocona. She's good. Khundi comes up. He's good but Cocona is doing a lot of theatrics. Khundis not really the type of guy who likes all of that. He's more om the serious side. So it's probably really annoying to him.

Khundi said "You have the worst manners" with a smile but multiple people said it on block 5 and in the crowd. She asks "Did I lack manners?" Girl,...yes! Lol. Idk how seriously I wanna take this though since it IS a competition. Also, it might've been fine with a different type of rapper. Someone a bit more playful? Idk. She apologized and Khundi won so it obviously will dissipate any beef.

It seems like Since will come out next. I think she'll beat him tbh.

Side note: the guy next to Reddy is handsome. I don't remember his name from the last episode but he says a lot of commentary with Reddy so they've been giving them a lot of screen time. I wonder how he raps? I unfortunately can't remember from other episodes. Maybe we haven't seen him perform yet.

Since can either beat or top that. Khundi Panda looks so happy and is enjoying the performance. That's how I'd look watching Since that close lol

Since uses 14. Luci Gang says she'll go out?!?! Battle of probably the BEST two female rappers on the show!!! I wanna be like Since when I grow up LOL

Since won. I think they'll need JP to beat her. And that's exactly who came out.

JP won. Punchnello faces him. Punchnello's rap is more interesting to me. I think he'll win. Punchnello is a fucking...idk. lol he's amazing lol. That's the point I'm getting at. He naturally won.

Hash seems like he'll come next. I think punch WOULD beat him easy but he messed up his rap so Hash should have a (surprisingly) easy win here. But it looks like they chose Mason instead? And HE messes up too. Seems like Punch will win. Punch got SOOOO lucky here! Lol he wins.

I don't think Mck and Hash will do much in a battle like this. We'll see if they can come back.

Ok I think Hash win this one. After awhile, people get kinda tired of the same person. I think the person loses energy and starts going on to the beats they are less good at. I think most people try to rap on their best beats first so after that it's downhill from there. It's better to face them later.

Swan's voice and overall vibe is just really cool. Sky Minhyuk came out. He's improved as I've noted many times over the years. It's still hard to take him seriously even with all the antics. It comes off a bit too comedic. I still think Hash will win...

That sky minhyuk win was bullshit lol. And he beat Swan by A LOT! Are y'all just ready to end the round now and voting off who can at least make you excited? Lol

I know mckdaddy can beat minhyuk. Boi B idk. From this verse he seems like he'd be pretty evenly matched with Boi B. It'd be interesting to see that match up.

That win was BULLSHIT! Yeah, they're just tired and wanna getnit over with.

Block 3 vs Block 7. Yeah this one is gonna be crazy. Both are FULL of stage performance.

Goldbuuda vs Marv. In one sentence Marv already won to me. Marv has a lot of style. He reminds me of someone. I can't put my finger on it. Something seems familiar! They compared him to JP but that isn't it. I finally put my finger on it! It reminds me of Nucksal! His voice/pronunciation? The style is different though.

Anyway, Marv won. JP saying he just likes Marv...aww cute.

2 DPR Live references on rap:public so far. One from Fleeky Bang during Infinit Cypher ("Feel like Hong Dabin" or something similar) and one from Marv ("Feel like I'm Dabin *something here I can't remember* giggle). DPR Fans in the house!!!

Marv is really cool. Can't believe I hadn't heard of him until this show.

Idk whi the guy who came out to face Marv but he's a good performer. More raw than than Marv but less precise.

Kang Hyuk was his name. He won. I feel like they vote off performance too much. I don't feel that bad about Kang Hyuk winning cause he's good. But... I'd expect fellow rappers to vote for rap skill pretty high on the list more so than sheer performance.

Tray B just came out being ratchet and saying "F*ck you over and over* Khan and Shyboiitobii almost fell off the bench laughing.

Fleeky Bang's on the other team trying to bob his head but you can tell he's like "FUCKKKKK why him?" He knows how good of a performer Tray is.

I think Don Mills can beat Tray. Fuck you is getting tired now. Tray's verse is from that song he just released. I forgot the name but I posted it a few days back. This guy came back with some curse words of his own. He's good too.

Don Mills came out. Polo was better nthis round than w/ Fleeky but Don is better rap wise plus he also has the loudness and performance so I think he will win.

Next battle is 3 vs 2. Block 3 is talented but Block 2 has a lot of style. Idk

Haon chose Yang Kyle, Reddy, and James? That seems weird? He said he'll put up his strongest rappers so they cant lose? That's not a good decision Haon. I think he believes it's motivation but idk if it will be.

Loopy put up Raf Sandou , yukon, and ga yeon. That makes sense.

RANDOM THOUGHTS: Manner of Death ep. 14 (rewatch)

(These are my random thoughts from my rewatch on the 31st of March - 1st of April 2024)

Since my rewatches may contain spoilers, I’m putting my random thoughts after the “Read More” link.

I can’t believe this is the last episode. It’s gone by so fast.

Anyway, I’m going into this expecting some assholes to be exposed, some more danger, Inspector M to be okay, many Tan and Bun moments, and a crazy proposal.

See, jealousy really is a cold-hearted bitch.

What is wrong with these characters exposing their secrets and goals to the people who will be the most affected by the repercussions if those secrets come out? I mean, if they didn’t want to kill you before, they definitely do now.

Bun, baby, you don’t have to ask Tan what he wants to be. The answer will always be “Your husband!”

Look at this asshole going for the kid first.

Inspector M is back! Look at him being all hot while fighting Gun (while he’s still injured). And he’s wearing black and blue (my weaknesses). And he’s being salty (my favorite Inspector M flavor). And the way he shoots Gun without even flinching! It’s much more fun to watch him when he isn’t giving me whiplash.

The way That is protecting Sorn! Why are they so fucking adorable?

Bitch, you’ve been fooled. You’ve made your bed, not lie in it. Or, more like, you dug your grave, now lie in it.

The way Tan and Bun reacted to the tech whizz wondering what Tan was hiding on his computer will never not make me cackle!

I’m so happy that Inspector M was the one who got to arrest the commander.

The realization on the judge’s face when he realized he was fucked was so satisfying to watch. I reveled in every millisecond.

I’m always down for a good revenge. Por getting rid of Rung was sweet.

I’m sure Inspector M and Oat hooked up after Oat helped the inspector. At least they did in my delulu-world. I mean, if we ever get Transplant, they can show us. But, until then, they live happily ever after in my head.

I love that Nam wants to become a doctor. That’s the kind of effect Bun had on her.

Look at That and Sorn being all lovey-dovey. I fucking love them! They should really be wearing helmets when riding that MC, though…

And now the craziest proposal I’ve ever seen. I want to slap Tan for doing this. But I also want to hug him.

And that was the end of Manner of Death. I love this series so much that I’ll come back to it again, and again, and again. And I will always hope for Transplant. So, when are we getting Transplant?

Manner of Death rewatch ep 11-14 (finale)

The thing about MoD's story structure and pacing is that they really want the viewer to suspect, but not want to suspect, love interest Tan for the first 3/4ths of the drama. It's a romantic suspense setup where Tan is attractive but dangerous... and attractive because he's dangerous.

Once this culminates in ep 10-11 with the reveal of the true antagonists, now the story focus flips over from romantic suspense to mostly pure suspense. Our otp is solid and just trying to get out of this alive & together. It makes a rewatch of the final 4 episodes pretty fast because you can speed thru the case stuff.

In my rewatch I've been directing stronger attention to the brothers' minor relationship arc, which I wasn't really tracking the first time around (as I presumed mob boss Por was gonna just end up as a minor jailed baddy).

Now that I have KP Chay's frequent, "Hia!" in my brain, it pings a bit harder whenever Tan directs it to Por with a plaintive edge. This low level criminal boss who almost killed him a couple episodes earlier is indeed the only family Tan has left. Tan trusted enough in that to tie his man to a staircase and show up in Por's mansion o' thugs to try to break thru to him face 2 face. LOL can u believe this murder case actually fixed their fucked up half-sibling relationship.

When it looks like the 3 teens are about to get GOT by the corrupt commander's officer and then pop! A shower of blood and its big brother Por standing there with his gun like the most menacing hero 🙌

Then he shows up at the couple's hiding stop with some handy stolen evidence and is like, "right now you're fugitives wanted by the police"

ok, fuck, I guess he IS your hia. 🤔

That scene where our otp watch the horrific proof of who killed Jane and even Por is like DAMN. I'm like, that's right bitch, this is why we don't murder our siblings ok it is not cool.

Somehow I find this all hilarious.

And then Por gets kidnapped! "Hia!" engaged. "Don't worry about me! Release the video!" wow, big brother, we've come such a long way in 4 episodes.

But then Tan is ready to risk it all, including his true love, in order to save his bro so.

The family that faces death together, stays together? 🤔

ah, Corrupt cop arrives for the rescue to kill the even more corrupt cop! YAY! He plugs that dude so full of lead he could serve as a paperweight. Nice.

MoD has a bit of that Vampire Diaries vibe, where the practical answer is always to align yourself with the lesser monsters.

Drugging & trafficking young girls under 15 is the greater evil. Even dirty cops & mobsters agree: let's scrub these scum out of our sketchy town and get back those "grey areas" everyone is comfortable with.

Very realistic that the congressman gets away. But 2 out of 3 isn't bad.

Tan and the other henchmen catch our villianess at the border and bring her back for Por to deliver a thematically appropriate murder. 👌

The less said about the psychotic proposal the better. But the kids are back in class and Tan is back to his teaching day job. And a man actually agreed to marry him after meeting him in the woods, being told he's on an errand for his mob boss brother, and running off with him to be held at gunpoint yet again. But just kidding! (Bun, this is the 1st day of the rest of your life: that hot man lying to you AGAIN.)

Big doofy space horsedog is so ugly and so cute at the same time. He looks a bit like a tu'kata (Sith hound) from the Knights of the Old Republic games but he's nice. He reminds me of my German shepherd. 14/10 I would pet him.

NOTI NOTI NOTI OMG I ADORE THE NOTI!! Everything about them. They feel so Original Trilogy to me. I love their little voices, their little outfits, their mannerisms, the fact that they have SHELLS... I would die to protect them.

Also their music is great. Kevin Kiner's composition work on this series is fantastic.

I'm extremely upset that this series has made Ezra hot though. Obviously Eman Esfandi is beautiful but couldn't they have not given him the beard or the absolutely lovely outfit and done something ugly with his hair? I wasn't ready for a grown up handsome Ezra. In my head Ezra is 12.

I wonder how my sabezra girls are doing. It's not a ship I sail upon but I do like to see it out on the oceans from my vantage upon the deck of the good ship reylo.

I really missed Rosario this episode. I would have watched a whole 45 minutes of herself and Huyang swapping stories.
