Revised character concept for my ShadowLightAU!

Same deal as the Sonic sheet, you probably can't read what it says, but it's more for me than anything else. Shadow is still partially made with Black Arms DNA like in cannon and his memory has been tampered with by some mysterious character. Rouge is a spy for GUN to keep tabs on Shadow (and Gerald's decendent, Dr. Eggman), and Omega was once a mechanical guard for the Royal Family of the Ancient civilization (created before Lyric's betrayal).

The Black Arms in this AU are also technically demigods? (Children of Mephiles) and were rivals to the Ancients of Mobius, who were created by the combined breaths of Chaos and Solaris.

A running joke in the AU is that Sonic very vaguely looks like several dead people from the memories of some old fuckers that are surprisingly still alive. I also love the idea of Shadow being the "short friend" between himself and Rouge lmao (she definitely makes fun of him... And his tastes.)

So I had an idea, for a sonic AU: Black Arms infused Maria.

She still gets shot and sends Shadow to earth, but this time she just doesn't stay dead due to the Black Arm cells (from Shadow's blood) she's been infused with by her grandfather. Gerald did this in a last attempt to cure her as he feared GUN would soon come for him and his research- he was right of course... The cells mass multiplying to save the host have changed her body, slowed her aging significantly. Spending a large part of the last 50 years hiding away from GUN after escaping their facility thanks to the commander (once he reached a high enough rank to even discover she was there), she doesn't really look as kindly upon humanity any more. Even though the commander claims Shadow was never found ( and likely dead) she is is searching for him endlessly, becoming very science savvy in the process and gaining full control over her grandfather's creation, the artificial chaos.

She can sense Shadow is alive, the black arm part of her sharing a connection with him. However, this connection also extends to Black doom and when he returns to earth he becomes aware of her. Unlike Shadow this human "child" is far more susceptible to his mind control and influence. Shadow in turn might not fully remember everything, but he feels a strong bond with Maria, in more ways than just his lost memories could explain which confuses him. Since she's on the side of the Black Arms, going against them will become a lot harder for him. Hopefully Sonic and/or Rogue manage to get through to him, or earth will have an issue. Outside of Black Doom messing with her head her goal is to live with shadow on the ARK, away from the humans that could hurt either of them. Black doom offering a way for them to be able to live on earth itself without the threat of humanity coming after them (after all of humanity have become part of them- he meant as food, Maria thought he meant like she was, infused with their essence) did plant some ideas in her head however, even after their defeat, maybe she'd take a page out of Eggman's book and want Marialand, using her grandfather's memory altering tech to create a way to keep people in line.

Maria redesign, pretty generic. People forget that Marias illness on bad days can borderline blind her, so I conveyed that with her eyes being strained and red, shes not high guys please ik is funny but this girl is literally going blind LET HER BEEEEEEEE

My au Shadow

Idk I think Shadow would be rad with shape-shifting abilities, and have like his base form, the form he takes for a good amount of SA2(aka his alias Terios :] ), and the form that most closely resembles canon Shads.

(I decided the blind eye stays with the alter ego/alias since I like both eyes being normal in regular Shads lol, I mean I like both, just I have specific details in the regular eyes you can't see if it's in a blind ver-)

Shadow shifts into his alias Terios during the events of SA2 when in hidinh from G.U.N. while he's with Eggman and Rouge, brief moments gives hints to other characters that he isn't what he seems, Eggman already knows what he looks like normally though.

I will finish the Terios pic at some point, as I like it a lot lol

The tufts on Shad's ears I put were cause movie Shad looks like he has tufts, especially compared to movie Sonic's ears. That and I've seen other people's Shadows with tufted ears and I think they look so nice.

In my au Gerald at some point gives Maria a blood transfusion with Shadow's blood in a ditch effort to help her, and it miraculously does, however it doesn't come without side effects. The effects being she is now a hybrid similar to Shadow, her base form changing into a similar one to Shadow's.

Shadow feels genuinely bad since he believes he's turned her into a monster like him, but she reassures and reminds him that he saved her life.

They do try to keep it secret, Shadow helping teach Maria how to shape-shift to shift into her original self, Gerald also does his best to keep it under the radar.

However unfortunately, one way or another, G.U.N. catches wind, and in a horrifying misunderstanding, believes Gerald had accidentally created a contagion, or a bio weapon, and out of drastic measures, goes through with the raid, strategically eliminating anyone highly involved with project Shadow to keep this "disease" from spreading. The events transpire similar to canon with Shadow and Maria getting to a pod and Maria getting shot, etc, though she doesn't die, Shadow doesn't know this, thinking she did.

They take both Gerald and Maria into custody, and with the new found knowledge of what Maria is now, you can only imagine what horrors await while Shadow is stuck asleep.
