Arin's no longer the kid who gets exited at the mere mention of his heroes. He's now the boy who can't handle being in the monastery, he's the boy who lost his parents, he's the boy who's confused on his own purpose.

Lloyd lost his student, his son, because of something he couldn't even control.

WU STOP COMING BACK TO LIFE AND RUINING STUFF JUST STAY DEAD LLOYDS GOT THIS

It's so funny that people keep acting like Wu is some secret villain and it's all his fault that the ninja were divided and that Jay has amnesia and all of the other things that the Merge has caused.

The show has literally shown us that the Merge came about sooner than it was supposed to, that Wu intended to make the proper preparations for its arrival, and that it was not supposed to go down That Way.

People want Wu to sound like this evil, malicious, ninja-hating force so bad that they completely overlook the fact that Ras PURPOSELY wants to unleash that kind of chaos and more for whatever his master's end goal is.

Ras literally tells us he wants to reverse the Merge and use the creation energies released from it for Something, he only tells us how he wishes to restore his tribe, but we all know his master wants far more than simple tribe restoration.

So why, then, is everyone acting like WU is the villain here, when it feels so obvious (at least to me), especially with the whole "Only unity can save us" thing, that the Merge was caused as a means of preventing something far greater from going down???

Do you have any Sad/Angst headcanons with Lloyd and Garmadon? (｡⁠◕⁠‿⁠◕⁠｡)

lloyd doesn't want to get close to garmadon again because he's terrified that garmadon will leave again, and that he'll have to grieve him all over again. resentment seems easier. yet, he still longs to let garmadon in, to have that close relationship again. seeing garmadon try so hard in his own, odd way, doesn't make it any easier for lloyd

garmadon doesn't know where to begin with apologising. there's so much hurt and history between them both, so garmadon tries his best to be better, when really lloyd just wants a simple 'i'm sorry'

when garmadon was trapped in the cursed realm, he could hear everything that the ghosts were discussing – lloyd's possession, finding the first spinjitzu master's tomb. he felt like a total failure, unable to protect his son

lloyd hates how he looks so similar to garmadon. he's thankful for his green eyes and the softness of his mother's features softening the resemblance slightly. it makes him feel like his father's fate being his own is a simple inevitability. it also only made his grief even more intense.

garmadon feels guilty for being revived. he feels like all his revival has done is caused lloyd pain, because garmadon's emotions are so... ruined.

lloyd could never bring himself to hate garmadon, but he wishes he could. it would be so much simpler

lloyd genuinely believed that garmadon loved christofern more than him, until wu explained that garmadon was simply projecting his love for lloyd onto something else, because he's scared of messing things up with lloyd, but he loves lloyd too much to fully ignore those feelings. wu explained that garmadon had done it many times in the past, projecting his want for a parental figure who he felt truly accepted him onto Nineko and Chen, projecting his love for misako onto a million different people because he was scared of the venom making him hurt her if they were to ever get into a proper relationship

garmadon never touches lloyd's neck and throat because of how he held lloyd by his throat during their battle in kryptarium. similarly, lloyd can't wear things that are close against his throat anymore

they have matching lichtenberg scars on their backs from where they were attacked by the overlord, tying them together

garmadon also has a large scar across both of his paw pads from where he grabbed at serpentine blades to get to lloyd when they were in the temple of fire. a permanent reminder of his love for his son

they had healed a lot before the merge — which separated them again. both of them can't help but wonder if they are simply destined to be apart.

they are platonic soulmates, but destiny wants nothing more than to rip them apart

whenever garmadon sees lloyd having a panic attack, he's scared it's because of him, and that it's something he's done wrong, but he still approaches lloyd to try and help

i have so many more, but again if i said them all i'd be here for eternity, and some of them are on the heavier side of things and border more on projection, so i won't share those just yet 😅

Okay so thanks to my genius amazing smart mutual @chebyshevptera i have come to a very important realisation about the design choices they made for Morro in Dragons rising.

More specifically, his transparent arm.

The realm crystal is an incredibly powerful item created by the fsm before he ever even came to Ninjago, very likely created by pure dragon and oni energy before the guy was ever actually the first spinjitzu master to begin with. With it, the only other people to have ever held it as long as he did were Wu, Lloyd, the Oni, and Nadakhan (before Jay made a wish to take it all back)

Now note how Morro is the only person not actually equal in terms of power or bloodline to any of them. He was the master of wind, equal to the other elemental masters, and was also a ghost. Whilst being a ghost could make him immune to a lot, it could also open up a lot of risks to Morro’s soul. More so than the rest, who are literally built to handle the energy of the realm crystal naturally.

Taking that into consideration:

Looking at his ‘death’ from the preeminent at the end of season 5 Morro holds the realm crystal in his left arm.

And in Dragons rising season 3, his left arm is his supposed ‘transparent’ one. The one with the visible bones.

I think one of the possible reasons his body and arm are the way they are is because of the lasting effects of the realm crystal on his soul itself, possibly making him in-tuned to the merge, so when it happened it left his body a mess. This could also link to the well with the healing elixir and its possible connection to him as the guardian of lost souls as despite it’s very important purpose, it only emerged after the merge.

The realm crystal at the current moment is broken from what i recall, due to Garmadon attempting to stop the Oni from coming in through it. Is it possible the merge was quickened using the shards of it (if there were any shards left)? Or was it rushed due to the magic and energy within it being released? Despite its importance, theres not much on the realm crystal other than who made it and what it does, is there?

Does this mean that the realm crystal could also possibly be a link/stabilisation between all the realms?

Okay ignoring all that lets focus on Morro again because if the realm crystal has abilities like that and very likely left his arm in its weird state, it could actually mean that its one of the reason Morro seems ‘chosen’ for the job of guiding newly dead souls to peace, as well as how his body is now far more different to that of a ghosts.

They may actually use the realm crystal as an important tool in the later seasons in regard to the merge and how it was caused as its a key link between all the realm except the departed one.

Okay anyways I’m done i was just doing a lot of thinking on how the realm crystal is absolutely at fault for Morro’s weird arm now dhdehh

I kind of have a theory why wu caused the merge (but it's more of a fanfic idea so it probably doesn't make sense)

But basically, Wu caused the merge to protect Lloyd

When the first merge would have happened, the first spinjitzu master, who was probably a conduit, was there to prevent it. So I think that merges have something to do with conduits.

The first spinjitzu master might have had a vision about a second merge and another conduit. But he also knew that the conduit would come from his bloodline. (Doc/someone on twt said something about a green ninja related prophecy we don't know anything about yet)

The first spinjitzu master passed the knowledge of that to Wu, but he wasn't specific enough.

Wu figured out that Lloyd would be the next conduit on his own. (He comes from the fsm's bloodline and is already a powerful green ninja)

And because wu didn't know where the dragon cores were, the only other way to prevent the merge would have been to get rid of Lloyd, which he just couldn't do, and didn't want to. The reason the merge happened too early was because Lloyd's age had been messed with (tomorrow's tea)

But that's basically it (hopefully I'm not talking complete nonsense, but this is more of a fic idea sooo)

Rogue is NOT a ninja, and the ninja should stop expecting him to be one.

Okay so everyone who's reading this has seen the leaked part 2, right? Cool.

(We still don't have the last 2 episodes, so this might change depending on that)

So, a BIG part of DR Jay is that he has no memories and is (currently) known as rogue, a greedy bounty hunter.

And one of the main plot lines is the ninja trying to get Jay's memories back.

But what if I said that they are doing EVERYTHING wrong?

In regards to both rogue and his memories.

How the ninja are mistreating rogue and his memory loss

1. They expect him to believe them, even after he explains that everyone he's met since the merge has lied and manipulated him.

2. The ninja haven't shown any other proof to back up their claims that ras and the administration haven't. (Eg. The photos that could be easily faked and WERE faked for rogue before)

3. The ninja being upset at rogues' behaviour, which is understandable he is a bit of an asshole (but his goodness is shattered so give him a break), but what gets me is they clearly expect him to be they way he used to be, DESPITE knowing he has ACTUAL amnesia AND has very clear trust issues due to his rouge time since the merge.

4. Adding onto point 3, it even feels that they sometimes BLAME ROGUE for having his memory loss!? The main indicator of that is them just getting annoyed when he doesn't remember something, ESPECIALLY nya.

5. It breaks my jaya heart to say this, but the main reason for a lot of these is nya. I know it must be hard that the love of your life is acting like you're a total stranger, but you really aren't helping by getting mad at him for not remembering something he literally can't remember. Now, this may only seem to be nya doing this cause the other ninja don't have as much screen time with rogue, but even then, that's just proving that they aren't doing much to help

6. DO NOT EVEN GET ME STARTED ON NYA LETTING ROGUE LEAVE AGHHHHHH (Jay would NEVER do that to ANY of the ninja)

7. Now, this is a bit of a more.. "controversial" take (?), but the ninja got EXTREMELY lucky when finding their missing teammates (Master wu's ghost leading kai to zane when he was just chilling, them going to the LOLT and cole conveniently being there, and Zane luckily finding pixals' pod on that train with rapton). The point is that the ninja never ACTUALLY looked for each other,

lloyd only finding kai because he managed to get back home and then probably staying at the monastery till the beginning of DR,

Zane and Pixal being trapped in those pods (so not their fault),

cole being trapped in the LOLT (so he's not to blame either),

Kai and the whole land of monsters things and he DID actually adventure out but only found nya by coincidence (but still at least he was looking)

and then nya finding kai because he came across her and then finding lloyd because he went looking for kai, but that was AFTER he already met kai again.

And them ONLY finding jay because, suprise, he's an elemental master and got invited to the tournament.

Yeah, so anyway, the ninja (besides kai) didn't PROPERLY look for each other and most of the time only found each other by luck or coincidence. And before anyone says this, YES, of course they were all busy, but you're telling me not ONE of the ninja had some spare time to look over the YEARS since the merge????? It's also implied that sora and arin have been on the team for at least a year(the annual festival thingy), sooooooo

Wait this is supposed to tie into rogue

So what I'm saying is that they didn't look for Jay AT ALL, and maybe if they did, they could've found him before he shattered his goodness.

I honestly can't watch the ninja saying they hope jay is okay and not even look for him 😭😭

8. Yelling, "You're a ninja!" And "this isn't how you used to act!" Isn't helping the situation AT ALL. Telling him what he should and shouldn't do all the time doesn't help the amnesia, really. It just makes him feel like he's doing something wrong when he really isn't.

9. Lloyd not paying rogue is reasonable since yk, they were a bit busy saving the world, but I'm surprised he didn't learn that just because something Isn't YOUR top priority doesn't mean it's not somebody else's (the whole Arin thing), so obviously rogue was annoyed that he wasn't getting paid for DOING HIS JOB, and then yet again theyre saying "you seriously are concerned about money? That's not the ninja way" like GUYSSSSS

So, yeah I hope that they don't make rogue the "villain" in the situation and actually address that the ninja did all this stuff (I think they will since they have hinted that rogue isn't in a good mental place and it'll just be weird to make him the bad guy)

Sorry for the rant. I'm just sick of people saying, "ohh, Jay's gonna regret doing that!" 😭😭

More of the Hands of Time with this AU

This is basically how Arin disappears, he fights the others till the Iron Doom explodes within the vortex just in time to which after the merge happened, and like Master Wu he got turned into how he was in Dragon's Rising flashback (him when he was a child) around the time before it exploded, and a stray Merge rift that broke through and mixed with the Time Vortex sent him back and overrided his memories with the new information and such, causing everything else except his present thoughts to feel more like a weirdly nostalgic vivid dream

Also, this does mean Master Wu is still there during SoG which does alter a lot of events that happens in that too but not enough for it to stop Garmadon from being revived and everything (like Arin had hoped it would, he saw that disowning live when he was a kid😭🙏)

This Shuffle AU has messed with my timeline enough they’re the same age. So they’re all 18-19 somewhat. (Except for Nya and Jay obviously…and Lloyd)

Kai Jiang-Smith

Kai’s background is a little different here. He loses his sister in the Merge. He doesn’t leave right away because the Village (or at least some of the adults that hadn’t gotten lost in the Merge.) advised against it and instead just wait for her to come back.

When Kai gets older and business doesn’t do so well and he’s getting frustrated, he heads out in search of his sister. He does this to get at least a bit of closure as to what happened to her instead of wondering if she’s dead or not. However things come to shove and soon he runs out of money to get him by.

He goes into a crime life and gets a few odd jobs here and there. To the point that he leads a double life.

(This is where Ninjago Monstrosity comes in. I decided to let Kai go there willingly himself because if young Kai just landed there with no fighting experience he would’ve died tbh.)

Kai gets to the Land of Monsters and takes down a few monsters basically becoming the early version of Rogue. (Except I like to think his demand is higher than Rogue or maybe even equal to Rogue, not because of his skill but because he’s known as ‘The Expert on Monsters’) but eventually he gets into some trouble and meets Cole who ends up helping him find Nya and yada yada just check out this post for the Rewritten version of the Pilots.

Cole Brookstone

Cole ends up in the Land of Lost Things like in canon and meets the Finders like in Canon. The only difference is that the Finders are more careful when they ‘Find’ things and learn to adapt and survive in an environment where they are constantly hunted for a while. (Considering Cole doesn’t have his powers anymore)

After Cole basically builds a life for himself, eventually he longs to return home to see what happened and even though he has a hard relationship with his Dad at the moment he still wonders if his Dad is even okay.

That’s when Wu appears to him and gives him a sign that he should leave. Cole says goodbye to the Finders and promises to come back one day so he heads out and ends up at the Monastery where he trains to be a Ninja. (Somehow, I haven’t actually…decided how he learns this?)

He ends up finding Kai and together they find the Golden Weapons and save Nya.

Nya Jiang-Smith

She ends up in the Realm of Madness like canon, except she doesn’t end up with the Craiglings. Instead she’s trying to survive on food. When Garmadon discovers that the Realm of Madness he instantly goes there to get his Four Arms, stumbling upon Nya in the process.

Due to the fact that Nya looks a lot like Maya he assumes she’s Maya and Ray’s kid (Million dollar guess for Garm right there) he ‘captures’ her and basically raises her as a captive. (Too dangerous to keep her close and too risky to let her go.)

(This actually causes Nya to sympathize more with Garm??? Like she actually gets to know him more than the evil dictator he claims himself to be.)

However due to the fact that there is a lack of food, and Skulkin barely need food and honestly they’d rather let Nya starve, she’s malnourished (Hence why the clothes look baggy on her) she gets saved the usual way the Pilots go because Garm finds out that Kai is her brother.

When they get saved, they decide that she might be the Blue Ninja much to Wu’s despair and they start training her because self-defense and stuff. Ultimately she replaces Jay as the inventor of the group. (Until…Jay joins them? I’m not really sure WHEN he joins them because I ultimately made DR Season 2 different and DR Season 3 part 1 isn’t even on this list and I decided not to add it because that’ll make things harder for myself, besides he joins them without DR S3 p1 so this is gonna be interesting)

Speaking of Jay….

Jay Walker

(My guy you look like a normal Joe why the heck did you decide that old hairstyle you look so normal it’s uncanny-)

Head of Realm Re-Assignment of course Jay ends up at the Administration. Which is probably…not a good thing.

He was raised in the Administration having been separated from his parents so it’s quite literally the only thing he knows until he becomes a fully-fledged Agent. Once he becomes Head of Realm Re-Assignment since that’s never changed.

The Ninja don’t really meet him until Prime Empire maybe. (Still trying to work out WHEN he leaves the Administration)

Jay doesn’t end up leaving with Ras because Jay isn’t an Elemental Master by the time DR S2 happens. Instead the EM fighting for Ras is Zane. But he does defect somewhere during Dr S2 p1. (Possibly had a self-reflection or whatever idk Maybe Wu fried his brain)

Zane (???)

Captain of the Claws of Imperium, Zane is in charge of the capture of dragons with Rapton being demoted to Second-In Command. (Rapton regains being captain when Zane ultimately leaves however)

Zane didn’t end up in a pod instead he ends up in Imperium where it was discovered he was a robot and he was violently reprogrammed to remain loyal to Imperium. (Sort of like a…Bucky Barnes situation)

However what they failed to realize that even with reprogramming Zane, he still has a will of his own. By the time DR S2 happens, Zane would have been discarded by Dr LaRow and work with Ras. Though eventually he will latch unto the Ninjas all because he’s been raised to perceive himself as ‘just a tool’ (Which sort of factors into his arc in Rebooted…goddamn I’m so mean to Zane)

Lloyd Garmadon

Lloyd was around 3 when the Merge happened, so poor baby had to see his uncle spiral to get his father back.

Garmadon visited him in shadow form up until the Merge. So Garm was partially aware of his brother’s suffering. After the Merge though, Garmadon stopped talking to Lloyd as things got hectic in The Underworld.

Lloyd ended up leaving the Monastery for food. And quickly he runs into Sora and Arin who take him in. By the time Cole arrives at the Monastery he’s fully living with Sora and Arin till he’s like… 8 Ig.

(So by that timeline…yeah it’s still 5 years since the Merge…but if he’s 9 in the canon show it’s probably like… 6???? This is why I’m frustrated about the Timeline, Lloyd is messing with my timeline holy moly.)

They meet the Ninja differently mostly because I placed DR S1 episode 1 as the first Episode of Legacy of the Green Ninja now. Yes I plan to add Riyu, but Idk how to draw a damn dragon okay?

Anyways they head back to the Monastery to keep Arin, Sora, Riyu and Lloyd safe and also help Sora get used to her powers. When Wu shows up Lloyd immediately recognizes and understands him and basically acts as a translator for the Ninja. (So…Wu isn’t fully silent the whole time but technically speaking he still can’t talk. And there’s only so much Lloyd can try to translate so Lloyd might summarize and say stuff out of context)

So they stay in the Monastery for a bit.

Lloyd’s Wings, Tail and Horns show up as a result of the Merge causing a huge spike in his powers causing him to realize his Dragon-Oni heritage (Thank god I didn’t add DR S3 yet because THAT would’ve been awkward and again, this story wouldn’t have made sense since err…Dr S2 spoilers)

He also learns Oni power…really early. Cause uhh…Angry child tantrums.

…Maybe a slice of learning he has the powers of Creation at his disposal…

Also his eyes are covered because people thought it looked too evil. So he asked Sora if he could hide it.

Sora

Her backstory is the same tbh, honestly not much of the show changes for her really, she’s really lucky she was born in Imperium cause I cannot change shit about her.

However, she and Lloyd have a much closer bond than in canon, she almost sees herself in Lloyd when they first meet. And seeing his insecurities on herself. So they bond very nicely. Ironically though, she is not Lloyd’s favorite person, that unfortunately goes to Arin.

Err…actually most of her arc is the same Ig???

So I don’t really have a change for her idk.

Arin Nived

The most changed character in this whole lineup. Mostly because the timeline now makes it so that Arin is not a fan of the Ninja. But is now a huge Crime Detective fan. (Not like Zane however but definitely somewhat like Dipper)

He still bakes pies and does his pie runs but on the side he helps solve mysteries and his top priority is finding his parents and finding Lloyd’s Dad.

He’s still a sweetheart who races with Sora every year and tries to win the pie competition but other than that he’s an active working investigator, trying to figure out why the Merge happened, where certain people are and the mysterious new worlds they have to explore.

He used to theorize what Lloyd was supposed to be before, Garmadon straight up tells them they were a mix of two powerful beings back in the day. But Arin had good theories. Like Lloyd being dragonian with a weird evolution or smth.

He’s the closest with Lloyd as he’s the only one able to calm him down when he has a tantrum. And mostly because Arin is a sweetheart that even Lloyd can’t bear to see upset or angry.

Changes in the Ninja’s Abilities:

Still working on whether or not I should add the Overlord, but ultimately his plan would flop since Rise of the Snakes happens like WAY after Legacy of the Green Ninja. So we have a problem with the Stone Army. Unless The Great Devourer somehow accidentally awakens in the Land of Monsters???? Idk how I’m gonna make the Overlord come back.

But anyways, here are some changes:

-Lloyd can now temporarily give the Elements to the Ninja. (Which is supposed to make it fair because I don’t think Master of the Mountain will go well without Cole’s Earth Powers, also everyone will be after Lloyd if he hoards the powers not to mention the Ninja will be way to dependent on him)

-Unless Lloyd does the ritual in the Temple of Light, the Ninja’s powers return to him if they have it for a prolonged period of time, having it for a long time will do damage to the body as the Element is currently being borrowed, not taken or transferred, borrowed. This will probably be showcased in DR S2 when Kai has his powers for an extended period of time.

-Lloyd probably also has Golden Power? But that depends on if I add the Overlord or not.

-Also he has better control of his Oni powers but is instructed not to use it unless absolutely necessary. Which to be fair he can follow that because he’s got 4 Elements at his disposal.

-Nya has Water Powers. At least very early on or Secrets of Forbidden Spinjitzu doesn’t make sense.

-By the end of Legacy of the Green Ninja, Arin can do the Wonky Spinjitzu. Which baffles Garmadon because usually people get it immediately. But Arin getting Wonky Spinjitzu is fine in this sense cause he doesn’t want to be a Ninja. Still he practices because he wants to protect Lloyd and Sora.

-Idk what else to say, they’re mostly the same though.

See I can see Master Wu “causing” the merge but not with the malicious intent that Ras implies. I think it may have very well been something from Wu’s childhood or earlier years that he attempted to prevent, but instead of that he simply prolonged it happening, setting out to find a solution for when the next time the Coalescence came about, yet, he failed.

So, yes, in technical terms Wu did cause the merge now, but only because he caused it to not happen who knows how many years ago. Which of course means he would blame himself, and of course he would answer “yes”, then.

Also, thought about this as well, it's around the same reaction they had to finding Master Wu as a baby(not as extreme with the fact that yk old ass man is actually a child now) but it's enough for them to go "Did the merge cause this?? What the hell??"

Lloyd was the one that was ABSOLUTELY devastated like, I'm planning on rewriting how dragon rising season 1 goes with this AU because it's soo devastating for Lloyd but right now while I haven't started on drawing the whole comic, just know Lloyd was even the one that SAVED Arin during the actual merge. He saw him, literally exact copy of how he looked at him when they were kids.

And during that, 5 years he tried to find him, he told Kai and (despite the fact he sounded insane) he also believed in Lloyd's antics

But the thing that takes the cake is he was alone with that thought for 5 years. Just when he thought he could finally move on from never seeing Arin again he shows up flying through the air during the merge and he catches him and all Arin says is "omg its the green ninja hii I'm such a fan"

Lloyd doesn't confront Arin about it though since- the merge yk the whole ninjago was collapsing and all so he still set him down somewhere and flew the ship off but he's never stopped thinking about the child, wondering what kind of reincarnation incantation was that and if he was just hallucinating everything (until of course they meet in dragon's rising first episode, even more of a devastating blow seeing Arin with Sora apparently both being best and childhood friends)

Lloyd told the others about what's happened and they all agreed to keep it low until something happens, cause throughout dragon's rising Lloyd would subtly hint about it but Arin just would deny anything (cause it really did sound insane like- he was probably 5 or 6 years younger than Lloyd at that point there's no way he would've been there during all the stuff Lloyd and his team have been through)
