(screenshot b/c apparently I can't put video files in reblogs)
This reminds me of a real movie I've heard of, called America: The Motion Picture. It's a comedy satirizing overly patriotic retellings of American history, particularly the American Revolution.
I heard about it from this meme I snagged from r/196 before the Reddit blackout (sorry I can't credit anyone for the edit, I didn't save that info and I'm not going back to Reddit):
I haven't seen the movie yet, but I want to so bad.

Am I turning into the Mad Hatter from Alice in Wonderland?
Every time some random Tumblr account starts following me — no likes, no reblogs, just... appears — I’m like: What in the bot-phishing, OnlyFans-fronting scam is this?
Also, shout-out to the stans who follow creators’ blogs just to hoard reblogs from bigger names — not like the blog itself is posting actual content or anything. Wouldn’t want to support that. 🫠

loud cackling over the internet
I have found a way to get memes into an FFXIV fic I'm working on.
And it's officially revealed why in chapter 82. Which I'm currently working on, and won't be posted until the end of next March.
I accordion-squashed my update schedule once; I do not intend to do so twice, so you will not get there sooner!

So there's this stucky fanfic blog (leave me alone, i hate marvel movies and like it when blonde men are bleeding; see also my recent interest in dungeon meshi) that I used to follow that had some major mod drama and basically stopped posting in 2020. I still get it as a recommended blog when I'm scrolling pretty regularly.
Here's what its archive looked like very recently:
Tumblr media
Aaaand here's what its archive looked like starting November 3rd:
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
It is a compendium of the most absolutely rancid shitlib takes available and is going to be GENUINELY useful for a research project i'm working on because I periodically see these things float across my dash but I don't follow enough people who engage with these kind of posts to know what's a good source of them.
I only noticed it in the first place because it popped up as a recommended blog with a picture of trump, whereas normally when i see it recommended it's old fic or fanart.
Anyway, I'm torn between which of these two posts I scrolled past at a glance are my favorite. This one agitating about why censorship is good, actually and the government should ban tiktok (if you don't know why it's a bad thing to set a precedent that the US government bans the use of specific app I just can't help you, i'm sorry, even if you think tiktok is bad you shouldn't want the government banning apps) or this one that uses a Bill Maher quote that is explicitly about the hypocrisy of american civic religion to represent a group calling itself "The Christian Left."
Tumblr media
First of all, Bill Maher is, essentially, a conservative and antivaxxer who thinks that Democrats keep losing because they're alienating their base by supporting things like universal healthcare (maher has cheerfully said on his show that he thinks we shouldn't charge taxpayers to make fat people healthy and that the best healthcare is a diet; he has also said a healthy diet is why people don't need vaccines, and you should skip the fast food to avoid getting the flu, and that vaccines cause alzheimers) and cancelling student debt.
Second of all:
Tumblr media
As a very reddit-type atheist myself, I wish more people would remember that Bill Maher is not interested in christian morality, he is interested in pointing out hypocrisy as a cheap gotcha (and is absolutely uninterested in responding when people point out his own hypocrisy - he is a neat demonstration of why there is essentially no utility in pointing out when people's actions don't align with their stated beliefs).
Anyway, it's clear that the mod drama on a decade-old MCU fanblog was justified, thank you, unhinged mod, for the repository of liberal memes, and everyone, please please please accept that bill maher is a huge piece of shit and you don't want him to be the face of your movement.

FUCK yeah, nailed it!
i'm twelve years old and what is this
Where is everyone?  How do I follow you?  Should there be pictures?  OH GOD I’M SO CONFUSED.
(Okay, I’m not really that confused.  Mostly I felt like being melodramatic there.  Because I can be.)

The more I learn about your comic... The more I fall in love with it. Especially your bugs! Like can you explain more about them? I'm really curious about them (from the full bugs to the hybrids and anything else that comes to mind).
Anyway your art is wonderful and I adore seeing it on my dash. And you can info-dump too. If you want ofc.
Thank you!
The worldbuilding is a work in progress (as it always is, but the first chunk of the comic itself is pretty self-contained so we've been slowly tinkering at the rest of the world and creatures as we go without affecting it much), so we mostly have loose rules and ideas for the bugs as a species. Or anything in between for that matter.
For all intended purposes, bug people are all the same species and can usually cross-breed within mechanical constraints, as well as mix with the elves we threw into the mix. Genetics? Don't know her. We operate on Sims logic here.
A full bug has roughly a human lifespan, with some variation depending on the type of bug it's closer to and some type-specific quirks. The one we've explorer the most, as it pertains to Ashton and the latest batch out of the oven, is the ability that some types might have to undergo metamorphosis, usually at the expense of lifespan. This is Ashton btw
Tumblr media
And this is Ashton pre-metamorphosis:
Tumblr media
Something like this isn't super common tho! So despite me drawing a bunch of butterfly or moth people they generally don't get to that point and stay looking more like funky lizards with many arms
Tumblr media
Bugs can have many arms or legs or eyes, funky colours, exoskeletal bits, antennae, or look pretty close to your average human/elf with hidden bug features. Dahlia for instance is a vaguely spidery bug but can easily hide a bunch of her eyes and secretes venom thru hidden glandes so you could mistake her for an elf
Tumblr media
Meanwhile it'd be very hard to mistake someone like this guy for anything other than a horned bug
Tumblr media
If u catch my drift.
Some bugs are small! Some are huge. Some are out there committing atrocities
Tumblr media
Some dont look like bugs at all
Tumblr media
They're generally not as physically strong as the average elf but more resilient in a cockroach kinda way. They can have a chaotic range of circulatory systems and internal organs that sometimes just make them really hard to kill and its also pretty hard to keep track of every variation of the species and their quirks.
That being said in a lot of places they're super common and coexist with elves just fine, mix up and it's also not super uncommon to have half breeds like our man Staeve (the ThUG edition). The closer you get to elf the longer you live and less "non human" traits you have. There's also a bunch of different types of regular ass elf and it all falls under the elf category unless we decide to name them something else down the line.
Then you've got a smaller category of super elves that have been isolated for so long they never blended with anything else, are more attuned to magic and in general have a sort of mythical status amongst everyone else. They also have the longest lifespan at around 250 ish years.
That's sort of the TL;DR for now! Ollie and I have started to put all the info we've got into a single repository and do want to start sharing it (probably as patreon posts for now) because comics are slow and the scope might not encompass that much of what we want to explore of this world. And the chaotic idea machine never stops
Here's a metamorphosis meme for ya

perhaps a bit of an odd question: so, when I'm scrolling tumblr on mobile, I have a habit of downloading most images i come across, so that I can send them to people who don't use tumblr, especially memes and animal photos. however, i also have severe memory issues, and I may end up forgetting where i got certain images. i know for the photo repository one of the rules is to not repost the photos without any modification- which i might forget, or forget which images on my phone fall under that rule. and while i would guess that that rule doesn't apply to stuff like direct messages or texts, i might forget to tell the person I'm sending it to, who might repost it elsewhere without being aware, or months after downloading i will just forget and use one of the photos in a post I'm making because it felt relevant.
this is something i can pretty easily solve myself by just blocking the photo repository blog, or tags relating to it, but I'd rather not do that because i do really like seeing the photos and all the info and stuff. and i would assume it would be an insane amount of work for you to add something like a watermark to every single photo, so I'm not really sure how to go about this. i like seeing the photos, but i don't want to accidentally break the rules.
You clearly care deeply about doing the "right thing", so, what that tells me is that you're not actually the target audience for that rule. I appreciate all the thought you put into this message. Let's talk about it!
I've been reconsidering if requiring people to get permission for reposting images is the best policy to have and I'd like people to weigh in.
My original reasoning was this: the more I can ensure that reposts are affiliated with credit, the better I can control copyright on the images on the site, and therefore have more ground to challenge any scrapers/fake accounts/AR groups that yoink them for nefarious purposes. The easiest way to do that seemed to be to have people ping and ask, with the expectation of saying yes almost all the time.
But there's a couple problems with that, I think, in practice:
People don't like emailing strangers (I forget this! I have done it for work for so many years it isn't uncomfortable anymore).
This isn't how the internet works. (Tumblr has a specific microculture that encourages crediting creators and not stealing! Once this is shared more widely on other platforms, I don't expect it'll be the same ecosystem).
It actually undermines organic spread of content! (You're less likely to make an excited post about a cool photo if you have to send a maybe-scary email and wait for a response). And I do want there to be lots of eyeballs on the photos.
Realistically, @nexus-nebulae, with the policy right now? If you slipped up and reposted something without thinking, I'd just ask you to add credit to the post so it directs back to the site. The goal of this whole project is community access and engagement - I want to you to enjoy the photos, and send them to your friends! I'm just trying to also protect it from the awful that a lot of the internet has become.
But, I'm also wondering it it makes sense to swap the policy to say that it's fine to re-post images on socials as long as they're appropriately credited and/or linked back to the repository. This isn't the policy yet, but if you're reading this please tell me what you're thinking.
Non-edited image use (like putting them in a scientific paper, using them to build a curriculum unit, or putting them on board game cards - these are just random examples) would still need to be requested; but that's an entirely protective stance and if you ask, my goal is to always say yes.
So OP, please don't worry too much. Enjoy looking at the animals, do your best, and I'll be happy. :)

#Strickpage Strikeout is Here!
It's a Connect 4 Bingo Challenge!
Pick one or more of the four themed StrickPage Bingo cards, and try to create four pieces that connect in any direction. Each card has sixteen spaces, with fifteen prompts and one free space for a wild card.
The WrestleDream card offers softer, more tentative new relationship prompts for a fluffier side or AUs.
The Full Gear card is your classic StrickPage horny violence with lots of vampire undertones.
The Revolution card pulls a lot of weight and no punches, shouldering the angst burden through the All In era.
The All Out card brings us full circle to our modern standing, with a complicated combo of fiery passion and threads ended but untied.
Of course if you get that competitive itch you can always try your hand at a second card. Or even combine prompts from multiple. The truly wild might try for a full card strikeout...
This is not just a fic challenge, and this is a great reminder that AO3 does work as repository both to embed media AND to link out to other sites on third parties.
Mix it and match it up if you want: do a fic drabble one day, a sketch the next, a video edit the third, and round out the last day with a lovely set of memes.
Expanded Cards with Posting Information & Links to TV Tropes Pages Below Read More.
You can add your works, anonymously or not, to the StrickPage StrikeOut AO3 collection beginning Midnight on March 3rd, Pacific Time, remaining open through the end of the month for inevitable 'life happens' straggling.
Please tag your works #StrickPage StrikeOut on social media with a space, and avoid tagging alternative ship name spellings.
We recommend imgbox.com for third party image hosting with ease of embedding and galleries and no sign up required, and Vimeo for the same with videos edits.
There are no real rules to this challenge other than to create StrickPage or Hangman & Swerve relationship fanworks in the spirit of the challenge. Take the cards and make your own challenges.
Please don't hesitate to reach out to me by DM on Tumblr, Discord, or Bsky if you have questions, but really the point of this is just to have fun and create as a fandom! Don't put too much pressure on it.

What is the Downfall of TGST? You included it in that eggfic meme, but I've searched Scribblehub and Bigcloset and found not a sign of it.
Okay SO
Chapter 1: The Rise of TGStoryTime
In 2011, a man going by the name of Joe Six-Pack launched the TGStorytime website or "archive," with the express idea of creating a repository for fiction focused on forced feminization and similar "TG" fetish content.
Though it took a bit to find its footing, it nonetheless became a place where all kinds of people could share their stories about men becoming women, usually against their will, after which naughty shenanigans would usually occur.
It also became a place where many trans women both read and later on wrote their first piece of trans fiction (yours truly included). Other trans authors that got their start here were QuietValerie, Purplecatgirl and Trismegistus Shandy, each of which would later (or at the same time) make their name on other fiction hosting platforms as well.
As an aside, an interesting feature of TGST is the fact that every single story needs to be vetted by "the moderation team," which has at times included One (1) member: Joe Six-Pack himself. I'm sure that won't be relevant later.
Everything was going reasonably well, until one fateful day.
Chapter 2: The Problem With Joe Six-Pack
In 2020, a new user joined the website. I have no intention of speculating towards intention, but the effect they had was immediate.
They wrote extremely short stories, often between 50 and 100 words, only a few paragraphs, of people who were forcibly turned into women. What made this so egregious was the denigrating way it referred to these "new women," sometimes using slurs and other speech that has been hurled at trans women to dehumanize or simply demean them.
There was an immediate backlash, the now-quite-substantial trans userbase of the website standing up for themselves and asking that Joe Six-Pack, the host and active owner, do something about this new user's low-effort but offensive stories. At the very least, that he please stop personally approving them.
He refused.
He refused on the basis that TGST was never a place for queer people to find each other, nor was it a place for trans stories. As he put it, TGstorytime was repository. It was an archive of TG - not Trans - stories, one that was his sacred duty to maintain. He was not a moderator, he was simply an archivist. He also asserted that transphobia was a somewhat normal response on the internet and that moderating it would lead to a witch-hunt that would see his website shut down eventually. He would not stop vetting - and personally approving - stories that were rife with transphobia.
Chapter 3: The Exodus
In the following months and years, a large part of the trans community moved away from TGST, spreading to the neighboring websites of RoyalRoad, BigCloset and Fictionmania. Some tried to make their own websites like Fluff4Me and Offprint Café.
But the biggest move was to Scribblehub, one of the few websites that not only allowed users to mark their stories with "Transgender" as a built-in tag, but also had moderators that listened to vulnerable minorities when they raised issues. As a result, many trans women moved over to the at-the-time primarily manga-and-light-novel brained site, causing a pretty significant upheaval and forcing the moderation team to make some changes to the way it weighted its "trending" tab, since it quickly became dominated by transfem fiction.
Despite these changes, Scribblehub remains the best place to find new, and importantly, free trans fiction online, written by both established as well as up-and-coming authors.

LET'S TALK: ROLEPLAY MEMES
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Roleplay meme etiquette can be confusing at first, but Tumblr RP has this unspoken system about it when it comes to roleplay memes and it's time someone shared those 'rules'.
REBLOG A MEME FROM THE SOURCE!
If you see a cool meme come across your dash that you wanna reblog-- it's not as simple as just slapping the reblog button! Especially if your friends have in their rules reblog memes from the source. Not everyone does this, but it's always good form to check the rules of the blog you're planning to repost from, just to make sure you're not accidentally ruffling the feathers of someone you're following!
But how do you get to the original post? It's simple!
On every post on Tumblr, you can see these three dots on the edge of the post. Click them to get a menu that expands to show all sorts of handy options!
Tumblr media
Including this very important one-- VIEW ORIGINAL POST. Now you might not see that, you may see VIEW PREVIOUS REBLOG. In which case you keep doing that, going back through reblogs til you either find the original or end up on a repository for memes!
Also known as a resource blog, there are plenty that keep these roleplay memes around, long after the original blogs that made them have deleted.
WHAT'S 'REBLOG KARMA'?
Reblog Karma isn't required, but it's considered good form to engage in it. Basically, you send the meme you found on the dash to the person you've gotten it from [after or before reblogging from the source]. It's basically the Tumblr equivalent of being like 'thanks for bringing this to my dash!' and you also get to interact with your writing partner, as a treat. Practicing reblog karma isn't just a solid method of getting interactions, but also a way of having characters interact in unique ways they might otherwise not!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Now get out there and be respectful to one another! Reblog this to share it around so others can learn this super cool bit of Tumblr Roleplay etiquette!
And as always, my askbox is open to inquiring minds. If you've got questions, we've got answers!
