Been watching videos of people playing the beta and I'm. Such an old head. Not to be an elitist but worldlets really have it so easy. They don't know what we used to go through. And I have thoughts.
I HATE the radial menu for anything besides the emotes and stickers and shit. Genuinely. I cannot stand this feature. Cool it's quality of life for some people. Awesome. I believe it absolutely just incentivizes laziness and pushes people into cringe speed run meta mentalities. It's awful. An absolute detriment to the feel and intent of monster hunter. When everything is so deliberate and intentional, moving your stick to heal with the game-determined-optimal-potion is. Sickening. Diiiiiisugusting!!! No actual, genuine shade to anyone who uses it for healing or whetstones or any other items, of course. But it does annoy the hell out of me that it existed in world and it persists into wilds. (was it in rise? I feel like it was since I used stickers a lot but I've been bleaching the rise memories from my brain)
I'm the guy who was kind of annoyed that whetstones became infinite and permanently glued into your inventory. I'm the guy who threw up when mantles were introduced (AND THEY'RE BACK AGAIN!!! AND STILL BROKEN!!!) I'm only happy that guns seem to finally have infinite ammo (at camp) because now you can use them in normal gameplay before you build up a surplus of zenny to afford to use the weapon.
I will say, there is some jank and clunk that are quite inexcusable but are grandfathered into the series and they should probably work on it. Like a nice middle ground between the hell of paintballs, the brain dead easiness of rise and wilds showing you everyone all the time, and the absolute GARBAGE that hunting for footsteps and slime to level things up in worlds gross, convoluted maps.
Anyway this is raaaambly and poorly constructed but I really don't like how much the series is pandering to sweaty meta try hards now. After looking into the datamines and how skills work, I think a lot of it has been offset that way which excites me. A much bigger focus on QOL and utility skills instead of big damage. But I dread hearing about how you're wasting everyone's time if you're not using x or y weapon because they're the "only good ones" lol
#Monster hunter#This is why I don't join hunting groups. I'm fine with randos#Your coworker who just plays casually sometimes and is awful at the game is preferable to the streamer who's#Gonna call me slurs for using a weapon I enjoy over what's optimal#And I really wish I could take the radial menu out back and tell it to look at the pretty flowers.

tagged by my girl alice @transfemininomenon!
last song: Black Betty, but the caravan palace cover
currently reading: :( I haven't done much non-academic reading in a hot minute unfortunately which means my answer is thoroughly meh: Forensic Accounting and Fraud Examination, 2nd ed.
currently watching: oh man tagging me in this post is just a trap to expose me for being boring, clearly. as some of you already know I hardly ever watch shows, so the closest thing I have to an answer is that I've been watching NBA summer league games because I have no better basketball to watch right now. OR my parents have been binging Monk lately and I occasionally catch bits of episodes if I happen to be eating when they start watching
currently craving: actually just had some chocolate covered raisins like five minutes ago so not craving anything all that much rn! also if I think too hard about this I WILL start craving something else which would be bad so I'll leave it there
coffee or tea: oh my god this one really was designed to make me specifically have the most boring possible answers.. I don't drink either of them, mostly on account of my adhd but also I don't feel particularly drawn to them even putting that aside. my mom has a coffee problem though so I will say coffee as a show of solidarity, but really it's neither
standard disclaimer that you are free to completely ignore this if you don't feel like briefly reliving the mid-2010s via this post, but I'll tag @raeii @loz @fieldlands @firedell @hungwy @poguniversity @legofrans @ingleaisle @romcommunist and @captoring! and also any friends and mutuals bored on a tuesday morning (timezones do not interact) that want to do this, just assume I tagged you too
#i think tagging 10 people is already taking up a decent amt of space so i stopped there to not just tag like. everyone ykwim#but MENTALLY i tagged all of you. if you wanted to be tagged. im not the boss of you#anyway thank you alice my friend alice ily#also this wasnt in the post already but i would have added currently playing: unicorn overlord (still)#i'm pretty much at endgame but uh. clocking in at a little under 200 hours for my first playthrough.#dont look at me like that i indecisively fiddle around in menus for hours at a time trying to pick who gets what gear and optimizing tactics#i will probably take a break and play something else before i come back to do a True Zenoiran playthrough though

we need to start handing out fliers or something telling people that ffxiii's auto-battle is an optional mechanic, it's been 10 years and the situation is still dire
#my post#and it's not like the option's difficult to find. you literally select the next button down on the battle menu#and if that's too much effort then you go to the settings options menu and change which tab you default to in battle#like. i will not take your criticisms of the game being too easy seriously unless you've actually given the harder setting a shot#i can respect the people who found auto-battle too easy but manual too hard. but i can't stand the people who are like#''but the fast gameplay means it's not optimal to play it that way so there's no point'' first off: the auto's ai is not always optimal#second: it's literally a difficulty option. funny how when you choose the option to make the game harder it makes the game harder#and autobattle functions are like. a pretty common option in turnbased rpgs. and have been for a long time.#anyways. i've beaten the game without auto-battle so if you want my tips on how to play without it i will happily share them :)#ffxiii

I use this software.
It's an easy way to turn off settings in windows that you'd normally have to put a bit of effort in to find. Settings like trackers and a bunch of other stuff.
It works for windows 10
Revo Uninstaller is a great program for force uninstalling programs you couldn't uninstall otherwise. Like Microsoft Edge.
If you use it to uninstall edge and its not finding the program when you search for it, you'll have to open edge, then use the target mode which allows you to select desired programs manually.
target the opened Microsoft edge window and it'll start the process.
The cool thing about this program is that is does a hard uninstall, completely wipes out everything related to the program and it's stuff in the registry.
might I add, if you uninstall Microsoft edge, it will remove copilot as well. I've done this and it's been a few months since then I think. I've updated my laptop a few times and it hasn't come back. though if you want to avoid edge from coming back with an update, here's a vid on the more indepth process of its removal.
Something I usually do is go into my app manager or program manager window and read through what all is installed. I delete anything I didn't install myself and doesn't have a purpose. If you're not tech savvy, have a web browser open to search for programs you don't recognize. if it looks necessary, leave it alone. Usually windows is pretty good about not letting you uninstall important programs but it's good to play it safe.
Doing this whenever you notice a sudden dip in pc performance is a great way to catch unwanted programs that may have slipped in with something you downloaded recently. Paired with a good anti malware program like Malwarebytes, youre pretty much golden.
last tip.
It's a pretty good practice to Optimize and Defrag your harddrive regularly. It basically does a clean sweep of your harddrive by deleting unnecessary files.
Here's a link to instructions on how to do that. When you set about this process, you should have an option of to what degree the clean up is done (meaning what files is targeted), how regularly this process happens.
It usually deletes residual files, stuff in your downloads folder, trash folder, and stuff like that. you'll get to see what all is there when you do it before you confirm the clean up.
After doing all that, you've got yourself a nice and clean pc that should work better than it did before.
All the programs I linked to are free and can be used without paying for them.
I've been super into computers since I was kid so these are pretty solid methods of pc maintainance on the virtual side. If you have a proper box pc, and I guess if you're feeling brave enough to open up your laptop, don't forget to clean use an air duster to clean out your consul.
I promise you, nothing will help more than a clean pc and cooling fans.
i thought my laptop was on its last leg because it was running at six billion degrees and using 100% disk space at all times and then i turned off shadows and some other windows effects and it was immediately cured. i just did the same to my roommate's computer and its performance issues were also immediately cured. okay. i guess.
so i guess if you have creaky freezy windows 10/11 try searching "advanced system settings", go to performance settings, and uncheck "show shadows under windows" and anything else you don't want. hope that helps someone else.
#its because the os is not properly optimized#you have to debloat it then strip it down to bare bones before doing anything#in regards to windows running like shit#you see#windows is an accordian of itself#its backwards compatibility isnt a simulator#its still got its old old code deep in there#im not sure how far back it is#but in windows 11 when it first came out#you could right click and back pedel in a sense to older option menues#meaning it just kept going into the code and you would get older option menu designs#backwards compatibility is good#but i feel like windows needs to be gutted and scrubbed clean#then new lighter software needs to be developed for backwards compatibility#i doubt it would happen but honestly windows is such a heavy and chunky os#mac and chrome os is relatively light by comparison#its because mac is office work targeting so theres not as much bloat going on there#someone correct me if im wrong though#this is in regards to windows running like shit#windows 10

Selecting the best restaurant management software: features to look for

Best restaurant management software features
When you search for the best restaurant management software for your restaurant, you will find an overwhelming number of options that are sure to confuse you. So, how to pick the best one? The answer lies in the features of a restaurant POS system.
Find out the must-have features for a restaurant management system:
Security
Your restaurant POS system regularly deals with confidential customer information like their payment details, contact information, etc, and ensuring their security should be a priority to build trust and credibility. Ensure that the restaurant software you choose has end-to-end encryption and a secure payment system.
Speed
One of the most important factors of the best restaurant management software is its speed. It must be able to work efficiently during rush hours when the order flow usually doubles. If the system slows down or crashes, then it could pose a serious challenge to your operational efficiency and business reputation. While scrutinizing event management software, do not forget to check its speed and its ability to handle pressure.
Scalability
Scalability is extremely important for a restaurant management solution to stay aligned with the changes that take place. Whether it is about managing restaurants from different locations or adding new features, your software must be able to deliver that without affecting the performance.
Mobile Accessibility
Make sure that the restaurant POS system you choose offers you the flexibility to manage your restaurant operation through your mobile phone. Opening a desktop for minor works can be a hassle. Tracking orders, deliveries, customer data, table registration, and more through phones is extremely beneficial and convenient.
Table booking management
Table reservation is a crucial part of a restaurant, and that is why, while filtering restaurant management software, look for a restaurant management system that offers a table booking system.

Technical support
Technical support ensures that everything runs smoothly. Opt for a restaurant management system that offers technical support when required. This is important because if you face any technical issues, they can solve them promptly.
Reporting and analytics
Reports and analytics help you measure the performance of your restaurant. It throws light on sales, employee performance, and customer preferences to help you make major decisions for growth.

Fast food is both slower and much more expensive to get so old standby protein bar is there for me. 2 hours past when I wanted to go to sleep and starving bc I couldn't decide what to have? Protein bar! Late for work bc I opened Tumblr and 6 hours evaporated? Protein bar! No food because I meant to get groceries on the way home from work but zoned out, drove past the store, and already dressed down for the day? You're going to the protein bar zone, buddy!
They have a decent shelf life and, depending on brand, can be easy to eat and not terrible tasting. The problem is that protein bars are goddamn expensive (and they're *all* expensive, but have wildly different nutritional values, so I could be paying $10 an ounce for something that won't even tide me over half an hour, and I won't know until it's too late) and this behavior adds up quickly.
I guess, Thanks for being there when I needed you, protein bar.

#The price of fast food is swiftly driving me feral#There used to be a dollar menu. Eating fast food frequently was '''poor people behavior'''#Now I work full time and can't reasonably afford fast food maybe twice a week.#And it takes 18 years to get my order bc shit isn't optimized around Uber Eats and nobody wants to hire train and pay a full workforce#When they can just overwork minimum wage staffers with 0 training and replace them every 3 days#I've been places at rush hour that had ONE PERSON BEHIND THE COUNTER#That should be ILLEGAL#Presumably there was a manager somewhere. Probably cleaning the bathroom bc custodial staff is another expense

the problem with trich is that the texture of the hair itself can trigger it. and one such texture [for me] is the texture of new growing hair. but when you pluck hair it grows back. in the hair pulling texture.

I'd also like to throw my hat into this discussion. I primarily make custom modded levels for Celeste. So, accessibility in terms of motor abilities is less of a concern since 90% of the shit made assumes the player has hundreds of hours on a game that takes 10 hours to beat. So, a lot of accessibility stuff comes down into two broad categories in my opinion.
Firstly, stuff that's accessible to players new to modding. Which is to say, creating mods with minimal usage of arcane tech. This isn't super common because funny button combo to nyoom. Also. I wanna briefly mention that the slowdown in Celeste's assist mode actually does impact the game's physics engine. It's not an issue for base-game, but it can fuck with some of the higher end nonsense. It is genuinely a case of "if you can't beat Nelumbo because of motor issues, it's fine. I can't beat Nelumbo without motor issues either (Nelumbo is very)." And if you do still want to be involved with the scene, I imagine Celeste TAS would be an excellent scene to check out. I've heard a lot of good things about the community there and TASing mods is absolutely a thing people do. But yeah, getting players from base-game to modded is definitely a thing. There are a ton of great mods that exist within the realms of beatable with base-game knowledge and skills, but there's also a ton of other stuff that simply isn't, and it's not, strictly speaking, a difficulty thing.
Second category is pretty much stuff that's 100% got nothing to do with the game's difficulty or gameplay. Like, I did a lot of playtesting for a major mod that was released not too long ago. The most common test I did was that I'd run through the level with the various color blindness filters enabled to ensure that something like that wouldn't get in the way of a player's ability to beat the level. That's the main thing I notice, but I'm sure there's other stuff.
And, like, all of this is in the realm of stupidly difficult and finicky custom levels that are built on exploiting the game's glitches for their level design. So, it's fundamentally a bit inaccessible. It's a separate scene from what this post is fundamentally about, but it's still interesting how the principles of this discussion could potentially apply over here.
i will never understand the insane takes against having games be more accessible
#im in favor of accessibility settings#like using dark souls as the go to example#i found the game way too stressful due to the soul reclaim mechanic#to the point where i was literally too anxious to progress the gamestate on my first playthrough#and i had to put the game down for several years because the experience was just making my irl stress needlessly worse#so having the option to disable that mechanic is an assist menu or something#wouldve let me have a good experience the first time i touched the game#since i do genuinely love banging my head against an unbreakable wall#and a lot of what im mulling over is how we can apply these ideas for accessibility to a space thats built from the ground up#around fundamentally inaccessible arcane bullshit#visuals is the easiest one to optimize but im curious what can be done beyond that realm#since at the end of the day i do want people to enjoy the shit i like and the shit i create#even when that shit is like do three setupless jumps with a timing window of 1/30ths of a second in a row

WordPress Performance: Caching Navigation Menus
Background In the before time, WordPress developers used to build themes (and plugins?) using PHP. When we wanted to add a user generated navigation menu to sites, we had to use a function called wp_nav_menu(). Of course, now that we’re in the future, we don’t need to worry about such things. But if you’re still using PHP to build WordPress sites, and still using wp_nav_menu() you might not…
