The HEMA swords (or just.. swords) as people. But not just that— they’ve got context.

I imagine a game with them in it, where they’re like how Steven Universe gems work but sorta different. Gems have their gems on their bodies— their bodies are just light projections around the Gem. Here, the bodies… come out of the swords— like sword spirits from Zelda. But instead of someone else wielding them, they wield… themselves. And there’s multiple of each of them like how Steven Universe has multiple pearls who all look different etc.

Fun fact. Messers aren’t swords. They’re just large knives, technically!

Been rattling this character around in my head for a long time and finally sat down and designed them. The protagonist for a story I am fooling around with – Messer.

I have a laughing Till to start the tuesday. It's a snippet from an interview with Till Lindemann and Gert Hof about the release of the book Messer.

That was at the Leipzig Book Fair in 2003. Till laughs when Gert talks about the publishers' interest.

I love hearing him laughing.

The next snippet is a quote from Gert, about the book "Rammstein" from 2001 and about the loads of material, he had to arrange.

He says: "There were so many photos and than it's not that easy. All the interviews that were conducted with the boys. What was very precise was Lindemann, that's 2 pages. Our friend Richard Kruspe, that was about 76 pages. He tells you the world." 🤣

You can find the full interview here. It's in german. Sorry, no transcript. The style of narration of the interviewer, reading the poems of Till is ridiculous and annoying. Just as some of his questions and remarks. The better I like Till's laconical answers to questions as: "you (the rammsteiners) really put some thoughts into it (The Project Rammstein)." Till: "nope, not really". 😊

Holy shit it's been a long time since I posted something original here, I'm thinking it's time to maybe try to be a tiny bit more active in that department here. I created it to be some sort of crafting blog after all.

Gonna start putting up some pictures from a couple of random projects I've finished since last time. First up some scabbards I've made for myself.

For a messer, bauerwehr/rugger and a typ XIV onehander. I think one of the last big posts I made was when I started on the one for the messer.

The rig for all three are more or less historically accurate. The knives I've done the belt after medieval illuminations and paintings that correspond with the weapons.

For the swordbelt I should probably in hindsight have done a bit more research, but to be fair most belts that are made for these scabbards are made like this since it looks kind of nice and is easy to make. It's a little bit too early for this particular sword and the time period I want to reenact, but it does the trick. And it looks nice. :)

More historically accurate belt rig for the late 14th century. Also made all the brass fittings except for the buckle.

Also made a scabbard with a bi-belt for @krakklo's wedding sword. :)

Welcome to the first Bauernwehr weekend workout challenge! Kat and Peter get a lot of requests regarding methods for individual solo-practice, and thus have dreamt up the Workout Challenge!

Initially designed to be a guide for weekends without classes, you can use these challenges to level-up your physical routine any day of the week!

WARM UP

Taiso

Jog in place, getting the knees as high as possible x 120 seconds

SET 1

Wall Sits x30 seconds

Bodyweight Squat x12

Rest 30 seconds

Repeat set two (2) more times.

SET 2

Bodyweight Forward Lunges x15 (for each leg!)

Plank x30 seconds

Rest 30 seconds

Repeat set two (2) more times.

SET 3

Pushup x 15

Bodyweight Backward Lunges x15 (for each leg!)

Rest 30 seconds

Repeat set two (2) more times.

SET 4

Full body crunch x15

Bodyweight Standing Calf Raise x 15
