notes and thoughts on the switch 2 direct
did this just for fun and because i have brainrot <3
under the cut because there is... a lot
we knew it was coming, but finally. a new mario kart game after like. a decade
it’s fucking OPEN WORLD MARIO KART JGKLASJHGLAKHJ
we’re getting so many directs lately goddamn
THEY PUT DISCORD IN THE SWITCH 2 HELPPPPPP
IT’S LITERALLY JUST DISCORD HELP
i highly highly highly doubt this works as well as it says it does in terms of filtering but okay
oh shit open access period that’s great
oh man gameshare that’s AWESOME
the screen seems like it’s pretty similar to the oled
magnetic attachment is GREAT
MOUSE CONTROLS??????
the new stand looks great ngl
wow the storage increase is INCREDIBLE
are there any nintendo switch games that aren’t compatible with the switch 2? i can’t tell
also do joycons from the switch still work cause if not that’s a lot of money i'll have to spend again
the nintendo switch 2 welcome tour looks kinda like nintendo land but worse and more gimmicky
it’s PAID?????? ew
oh my god do i need to get a new microsd card MINE’S LIKE 72GB
again are the old switch controllers still compatible because that’s a lot of money to sink again, i just got a new pro controller last year
JUNE 5???????? there’s no way that’s WAY too soon
also why bother with the last direct at all at this point if it comes out in june??? it’s not like any of the games announced will be worth playing on the original probably (i am looking directly at you, legends za)
nintendo switch 2 edition is going to be added to SO many games oh my god. at least scarvi will be (hopefully) mostly playable now (i personally didn’t have too many issues with it but oh my god)
do we need to buy another copy of these games for nintendo switch 2 edition btw? cause if so i'll RIOT
oh my god we DO
like ig it’s just an “upgrade pack” but STILL
honestly the graphics in botw and totk were good enough for me i don’t need that to be upgraded
zelda notes???
man FUCK OFF that looks SO COOL and i need to buy the switch 2 editions to get it
i’ll never get the one missing korok i have in botw without this goddammit
a new story in forgotten land? this shit’s INSANE omg
okay prime 4 i will give a pass ONLY BECAUSE it hasn’t come out yet
the mouse controls look awesome jfc
same thing with legends za that gets a pass because it’s NOT OUT YET
how much even ARE the upgrade packs because it already sucks but depending on the price it may suck more or less
drag x drive… not super interesting to me personally
also looks like it would be too slow because you need to use the mouse controls and you can only drag so fast
third party games… let’s see here
elden ring, hades 2, street fighter 6, daemon x machine, split fiction, ea sports fc, madden nfl, hogwarts legacy, tony hawk’s pro skater 3+4, hitman world of assassination, project 007, bravely default, yakuza 0… a respectable selection
also it sounded like most of them would be coming out on launch day so probably same deal as switch 1, where there’s one big og launch title (which seems like it’ll be mario kart) and a bunch of third party games to pad out the library for a bit
ZELDA???????
ma’am i love you ma’am
IS THIS THE DLC WE WERE LOOKING FOR WHERE YOU PLAY AS ZELDA IN THE PAST PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE
oh my god it looks like aoc and it said koei tecmo was part of the team

snap snap, here's a camera module picowbell
we've been doing a ton of projects with OV5640-and-friends camera modules. these devices have 8-pin data ports plus pixel clock, hsync and vsync. the data can be raw 565 color, or JPEG data at 1080p! either way, you need a device with lots of RAM and the ability to quickly grab the buffer off the module. the RP2040 will do a fine job, but if you want to work with these modules they require a LOT of wiring. (https://learn.adafruit.com/capturing-camera-images-with-circuitpython/raspberry-pi-pico-wiring)
to make it easier, here's a design for a 'cowbell that will work with the Pico or PicoW to add a camera module, Stemma QT I2C port, MicroSD slot for storing images, and a right angle 'shutter' button. there's not enough room for a display on this slim board but we left pins 20 and 21 available for a TFT CS and DC pin for expansion capabilities.

https://frame.work/ This place is amazing and pretty much lets you design your laptop from the ground up. No CD drive unfortunately but there's 6 expansion bays that you can any combo of USB-A, USB-C, HDMI, Ethernet, DisplayPort, MicroSD, or an Audio Jack in and hot swap with other components as needed. Everything else in it is designed to be easily replaceable/repairable as well.
Fighting for my life trying to find a phone or tablet with a headphone jack. Fighting for my life trying to find a laptop with a cd rom. Fighting for my life trying to get more than one usb port or, god forbid, an hdmi. Fighting for my life trying to find any electronics that haven't been streamlined into flimsy chastity belts with the structural integrity of a sopping sheet of paper which require me to buy 3 extra devices (each with their own separate charging requirements) all because some silicon valley jackass somewhere decided holes were a bad thing.

so. just got a new laptop since my mom saw some on sale and decided i've been taking good care of her, here are my thoughts!
pros:
screen has better color depth than my last one
better specs aside from a slightly worse CPU, but going from a 6 core AMD to a 4 core intel isn't gonna be a huge loss i don't think. the increase to 16 gigs of RAM and the 1tb ssd more than makes up for it imo
didn't come preinstalled with a bunch of bullshit like the last one, at least besides the standard windows shit that's fairly simple to uninstall. last one came with like 3 antiviruses which were all a pain to uninstall, so this is definitely nice
this sounds really minor but the fucking arrow keys are the proper goddamn size, which is to say that the top key and the bottom key aren't two tiny keys crammed into the size of one normal space. this is important when i'm playing something like UT/DR, and for reference with the other bullshit arrow keys style i usually can't first try sans in bad time simulator, meanwhile i just tested it and i did first try him, which i think is a pretty good testament to the keyboard design
got what looks like a microSD card slot! very nice, it's nice to have an option for unobtrusive storage expansion
keyboard lights up! nice for use in the dark!! and it's not that bullshit Gamer RGB that's more distracting than anything cons:
build quality feels supremely cheap, whenever i plug something into one of the ports i feel like i'm gonna fucking break something, the touchpad's click is heavier than a police glock trigger
no slidey thing to block the camera :(
only two USB ports, would've much preferred to have a third one instead of a fucking HDMI port, seriously who the hell uses HDMI on a laptop
screen is a bit dark even at the highest settings, it's not too bad but it's still noticeable. the range between the darkest setting and the lightest setting is very small, you can barely tell the difference between it being at 100% and 70%. not too bad though, and it's not like i go outside enough for this to be too much of a problem. in terms of tradeoffs, i'd rather have good colors with mediocre brightness than noticeably faint colors with decent brightness (which is what i'm coming off of)
the charger looks the same as my old one but is incompatible, AND it has a significantly shorter reach. not unforgivable but not ideal either
the only thing that i'd consider truly unforgivable is that the bluetooth is fucking abhorrent. like, i cannot exaggerate how bad it it, it's genuinely astounding. i'm watching a video as i write this and despite the fact that my headphones are literally about a foot or two away from the laptop, it cuts out with alarming regularity (albeit briefly); if i get up and walk away from it it cuts out to such a degree that it goes from barely listenable to literally incomprehensible. im getting a little 10 dollar bluetooth dongle, which will take up my second USB plot, so that sucks but eh

Nintendo Switch 2 Launch Guide: Features, Pricing, and Where to Buy
youtube
Introduction
The countdown is nearly over—Nintendo Switch 2 is officially launching on June 5, 2025, and gamers everywhere are gearing up. Whether you’ve already reserved your unit or you’re planning to line up on launch day, this guide covers everything you need to know. From spec upgrades and launch games to retail availability and online service costs, we’ve got all the key details in one place.
If you didn’t catch the pre-order window, don’t stress. Big-name stores like GameStop, Best Buy, and Target will have limited stock available in-store. And while Amazon isn’t officially part of the launch, there are still safe ways to shop. Let's break down what to expect and how to be ready.
Switch 2 Specs: What’s New and Improved
The Nintendo Switch 2 introduces a host of hardware improvements that make it a true generational upgrade. While the console’s size and weight remain similar to earlier models, under the hood it’s a different story.
Display: The new screen supports 1080p resolution in both handheld and tabletop modes—perfect for sharper visuals on the go. When docked to a TV, the system pushes 4K output, offering a massive improvement in clarity for home gaming.
Storage: Base storage has been doubled to 256 GB, and now you can upgrade with microSD Express cards up to 2 TB—plenty of room for digital games and saves.
Performance: A custom Nvidia-designed GPU powers the Switch 2, boosting load times and enhancing graphics quality across the board.
Despite the power bump, there’s a trade-off: battery life. You’ll get around 6.5 hours of playtime per charge, a bit lower than the 9 hours on older Switch models.
Nintendo Switch 2 Price: Standard vs Bundle Options
Nintendo is offering a couple of buying options for the Switch 2, depending on what you want right out of the box.
Standard Console: The base Nintendo Switch 2 price is $450. This includes the console, Joy-Con 2 controllers, and charging accessories.
Bundle Pack: For $500, you get the console plus Mario Kart World, one of the most anticipated launch games. This option gives you everything you need to dive into multiplayer action from day one.
Keep in mind that the bundle doesn’t include bonus accessories like a Pro Controller or extra Joy-Con grips—you’ll need to pick those up separately.
Where to Buy Switch 2 on Launch Day
If you didn’t snag a pre-order, don’t worry—retailers will have launch day stock. Here’s where you can head:
Best Buy, GameStop, Walmart, Costco, and Target are all participating in the official launch.
Expect midnight openings or early morning events, especially at flagship locations.
Amazon is not an official launch partner, so be cautious about listings there—many may be from resellers with inflated prices or questionable legitimacy.
Your best bet is visiting physical stores early or using their online systems for same-day pickup if available. Stick with verified retailers to avoid getting scammed.
Online Services and Virtual Console Access
Getting the most from your Switch 2 includes signing up for Nintendo Online, which unlocks several must-have features:
Basic Membership: Priced at $20/year for individuals or $35/year for families, this plan gives access to online multiplayer and classic game libraries from the NES, SNES, and Game Boy systems.
Expansion Pack: For those who want full access, the expansion plan costs $50/year for individuals or $80/year for families, unlocking newer virtual console systems—including the brand-new GameCube library, exclusive to Switch 2.
Nintendo has made retro gaming a big part of the Switch 2 strategy, and this subscription setup is key to diving into that catalog.
Accessories and Add-Ons You Might Need
If you're looking to make the most out of your Nintendo Switch 2 from day one, consider a few key add-ons and accessories:
Switch 2 Camera: Priced at $55, it enables game chat and video features.
New Pro Controller: This redesigned controller goes for $85 and is ideal for long gaming sessions.
Joy-Con 2 Holders: These cost around $25 and help enhance grip comfort in multiplayer play.
Note: Unless you're purchasing the Mario Kart World bundle, the console doesn't come with any of these extras. Be ready to budget a bit more if you want the full setup.
Launch Games and What to Expect in 2025
The Switch 2 launch lineup looks promising, with several major titles releasing on June 5th. While the full list hasn’t been confirmed, early announcements include:
Mario Kart World (included in bundle)
Several third-party and Nintendo studio titles expected by summer
Regular drops planned through late 2025
Game prices range from $40 to $80 for physical editions, while digital downloads typically run $60–$80, depending on content and bonuses.
If you plan to expand your library quickly, keep an eye out for summer game events and Nintendo Direct presentations, where new games and updates are often revealed.
Final Thoughts: Is the Switch 2 Worth It?
The Nintendo Switch 2 brings notable improvements to one of the most successful gaming platforms ever. With upgraded display quality, better performance, expandable storage, and support for GameCube classics, it’s a meaningful step forward for both casual and hardcore players.
Yes, the battery life is shorter, and yes, accessories and services come with added costs. But if you're into Nintendo's ecosystem or just getting started, the Switch 2 offers a complete, next-gen handheld and home gaming experience.
Whether you plan to camp outside a store on launch night or try your luck online, just be ready—June 5, 2025, is going to be a big day in gaming.

Positioned as a premium smartphone, the S25 Ultra offers an array of advanced features aimed at enhancing the mobile experience for professionals, tech enthusiasts, and everyday users alike. With its combination of innovative hardware, premium design, and powerful software, the Samsung S25 Ultra strives to redefine the standards in the smartphone market.
Key Features and Specifications
The Samsung S25 Ultra comes equipped with a suite of impressive specifications that highlight its role as a top-tier device. It features a high-resolution, expansive display coupled with a state-of-the-art processor that ensures fluid multitasking and gaming. The device supports 5G connectivity, providing faster internet speeds and improved network reliability. It also incorporates an advanced camera system with multiple lenses and AI-powered photography enhancements.
Additional features include generous internal storage options, up to 16GB of RAM for seamless performance, and enhanced security options such as an ultrasonic fingerprint sensor and facial recognition. The device also supports expandable storage via microSD cards, giving users flexibility in managing their media and files.
Display Quality and Design Benefits
One of the standout elements of the Samsung S25 Ultra is its display. Sporting a large Dynamic AMOLED screen with QHD+ resolution, the display offers vibrant colors, deep contrasts, and exceptional clarity. The refresh rate is notable, reaching up to 120Hz, making scrolling smoother and animations more fluid. This high refresh rate is ideal for gaming, video playback, and general navigation.
The design of the S25 Ultra emphasizes elegance and durability. It features a sleek, slim profile with curved edges that enhance grip and aesthetics. The front is dominated by the nearly bezel-less screen, while the back showcases a premium glass finish with a refined camera module layout. Samsung has also focused on structural sturdiness by incorporating Gorilla Glass Victus protection and IP68 water and dust resistance, ensuring the device can withstand daily wear and tear.
Performance and Hardware Insights
Powered by Samsung’s latest Exynos or Snapdragon chipset—depending on the region—the S25 Ultra delivers outstanding processing power. This hardware combination ensures speedy app launches, multitasking, and gaming performance without significant heating or battery drain. The integrated GPU enhances graphics-intensive tasks, making it suitable for high-end mobile games and professional applications.
The device benefits from optimized RAM management and an enhanced cooling system, which prevent performance throttling during extended use. Coupled with a UFS 3.1 storage solution, the phone offers faster read/write speeds, reducing app load times and improving the overall responsiveness of the system. These hardware choices collectively make the S25 Ultra a powerhouse in Samsung’s lineup.
Camera Capabilities and Photography Experience
The camera system on the Samsung S25 Ultra is engineered to deliver outstanding photography and videography capabilities. It typically features a multi-lens setup, including a high-resolution primary sensor, ultra-wide lens, telephoto lens with optical zoom, and a depth sensor for portrait effects. This array enables versatility in capturing a wide spectrum of scenes—from broad landscapes to detailed close-ups.
Samsung incorporates advanced AI algorithms and computational photography techniques to enhance image quality. Features like night mode, super steady video, and professional-grade Pro mode provide users with creative control and excellent results in various lighting conditions. The front-facing camera also supports high-resolution selfies and video calls, often enhanced with beauty and portrait filters.
Battery Life and Charging Technology
Equipped with a sizable battery, the S25 Ultra is designed to support a full day of intensive use. Samsung has optimized power consumption through software improvements and efficient hardware components. Fast charging technology allows users to regain significant battery life in a short amount of time, while wireless charging adds convenience for compatible charging pads.
The phone also supports reverse wireless charging, permitting it to share its battery power with other devices, such as earbuds or other smartphones. Battery health management tools are included to prolong the longevity of the lithium-ion battery, ensuring sustained performance over months of usage.
Software and User Interface Enhancements
Running on Samsung's latest One UI layered over Android, the S25 Ultra offers an intuitive and user-friendly interface. One UI focuses on ease of use, customization, and productivity features. Key improvements include enhanced multitasking capabilities, improved dark mode, and integration with Samsung’s ecosystem, such as seamless connectivity with tablets, wearables, and smart appliances.
Additional features include Samsung Knox for security, Bixby voice assistant for hands-free control, and continuous software updates that bring new functionalities and security patches. The customization options allow users to tailor their device to personal preferences, from themes and widgets to gesture controls.
Comparison with Other Samsung Models
When compared to other recent Samsung models, the S25 Ultra stands out primarily for its enhanced display quality, upgraded camera system, and superior processing power. While models like the S25 or S25+ offer strong performance and features, the Ultra garners attention from users looking for the absolute best in multimedia capabilities and hardware specifications.
The Ultra variant typically includes more RAM and storage options, better camera features such as higher optical zoom, and a larger battery. These differences justify its positioning as the flagship of the S25 series, targeting users who demand top-of-the-line features and are willing to invest accordingly.
Potential Drawbacks and Considerations
Despite its many strengths, the Samsung S25 Ultra does come with some considerations that potential buyers should be aware of. The device’s premium features and construction contribute to a higher price point, which may not suit all budgets. Additionally, the large screen size, while beneficial for media consumption, can make one-handed operation challenging for some users.
The phone’s weight, influenced by its robust battery and metal and glass build, might also be a factor for those seeking a lighter device. Furthermore, some users may find that Samsung’s pre-installed apps and software customizations take up considerable storage space, though many of these can be disabled or uninstalled.
Final Verdict and User Recommendations
In summary, the Samsung S25 Ultra represents a significant advancement in Samsung’s smartphone portfolio, offering a premium experience across display quality, performance, and camera technology. It is well-suited for users who prioritize high-end specs, multimedia excellence, and a refined user interface.
For potential buyers, the S25 Ultra is recommended if you require a device capable of handling intensive tasks like gaming, professional photography, or multimedia creation, and are looking for a smartphone that combines innovation with reliability. However, if budget constraints or ease of use in a compact form factor are more critical, exploring other Samsung models or competing devices might be advisable.
Overall, the Samsung S25 Ultra delivers an impressive package that justifies its premium positioning, making it a compelling choice in today’s competitive smartphone landscape.
