Save me Ancient builder tribe gajinkas, save me…
Structure constructors or something, idk, I never played the Minecraft.
In the nether fortress crafting my Withers, and by Withers, heh… let’s justr say.. inter dimensional societal collapse…
Usual design rant below
I believed veils would work great for the Ancient builders as not only can they hide their identity efficiently, keeping them relatively ambiguous, but also protect from the weather in the generally warmer climates they were largely stationed in, and equally work as face masks against disease and virus‘, all whilst still being able to be stylised in different ways, allowing the shape language to remain distinct.
Other visual inspirations were pirate and sailor clothing for the cold costal tribe, Ancient Greek and farmer attire for the warm costal tribe, and funnily enough: sci-fi desert planet Civilisation concept art for the desert tribes design.
Aswell as ofcourse their own respective structures and the loot within.
The colouration does differ in my head from what I rendered, I believe a lot of the little trinkets and details would have different colors, but I didn’t want the shillouettes to clash or melt into one another in this lineless style so here are the base colors for now, as I tried the former and it didn’t look good.
Look I know they were like a massive imperial force or whatever but you cannot tell me a group of artists inventors and architects that relied heavily on their semi sentient bio-mechanical hellspawn machines (and some necromancy) to do their bidding, bunkering up immediately once the odds were no longer in their favour, could handle a punch or two.
These people probably looked like starving artists, especially after the overworled was turned into a withering shithole for a couple years, legends was definitely a fanfiction they wrote about themselves. /j

These two guys are related and I'm gonna PROVE IT!!!!!!
First, general body structure: The ghast is primarily composed of a single cube with tentacles below it. It's face is on the front of it's body, with two eyes and a mouth and no visible nostrils. The strider is composed of a single cube with two legs below it. It's face is on the front of it's body, with two eyes and a mouth and no visible nostrils.
Let's also add that the strider's concept art has it resembling the ghast even stronger than it does currently with multiple legs and much larger size. Even if the final design doesn't seem super ghast-y to you, it definitely started at a point where it was related to it.
Also you might've noticed that the strider concepts actually show some lines on the sides of their head... But is that in the final version of the strider or...
Oh wow, they are!! When we remove their "bristles", we can see these lines on the sides of their heads. Hey, what else has lines like- yeah, it's the ghast, what did you expect. They also have similar lines on the top of their head, which are shown better through the back of the strider where they continue down... just like the ghast has.
I could also mention somber expression, but that doesn't feel as concrete. I can look sad and not be related to the ghast just fine. However, as a design choice to reference each other? I could see it being a thing.
But one thing I do want to mention is how their immunity and seeming love for lava. The strider's connection to lava should be obvious, as it's part of their purpose. Striders get visibly distraught and discolored when they leave lava, so their love for it should be obvious.
But the ghast...? Well, nothing concrete, given that they're an old mob and have generally random behavior, but I do think that ghasts are supposed to like lava in-universe. For one, the Mob Menagerie on them says that "they love the warmth of lava". This is a recontextualization of how sometimes Ghast can get stuck in the lava falls of the nether.
Source: Mob Menagerie: Ghast
Also, when the upcoming summer drop is eventually released, Ghasts will have a variant that can be given a harness, which is a version of a saddle specifically made for their size. Hmmmm, what else can be saddled and ridden....?
Yeah I know, not a crazy argument for this, but considering this is one of the first ghast updates in a while and it's main thing is adding rideable ghasts. Previously, the only rideable nether mob was the strider, so this feels somewhat significant to me.
But take of all of this as you will, I'm not trying to force you to think that the ghast and strider are related, but rather to explain why I think they're related. (ignore that I said I'd prove it at the start)

I finally got around to watching the happy ghast on mc live with my uncle and he said something that made me think...
(I don't remember what he said and neither does he but its not important)
I've always seen ghast as a type of jellyfish. They float around and have tentacles and eject flaming stuff to kill you.
[The ghastling seems to have gills like immature amphibians but remember mc is a fantasy game. Perhaps ghasts are like some weird fusion of amphibian and cniderian]
What really confused me about the dried ghast was how small it was and that it was a dried ghast not dried ghastling. And its not just a shell of some kind because its expression changes. It is the ghastling.
Theres a species of jellyfish, Turritopsis dohrnii, that, when badly injured or stressed, will revert back to the begining of it's life cycle.
What if thats what the dried ghast is?

Hey so here's a sad thought. What if all the Ghast in the Nether are Ghast that were Happy Ghast that were abandoned in the Nether by people in the overworld. Or another expanded thought, the Nether was originally a cooler place with flowing water and Happy Ghast were the normal Ghast. But after either Piglins showed up or humans left the Nether because of conflict with the Piglins or climate change, they left the Ghast and let the Nether become the treacherous lands it is today.
Also what if dried ghast aren't babies, rather they're Ghast that have cried all their tears and have shrunk down. In this state they are dormant waiting to be rehydrated and given nutrients by what little moisture is left in the nether. They typically get moisture from other Ghast tears or snow and ice left by humans in the Nether. Dead animals also give them the moisture they need as well, hence why they lay in the big bone structures, not just for protection but to get what nutrients are left. If they never get moisture then they stay in that state forever/when someone gives them moisture. Also dried Ghast that are babies typically are born from parents that are low in moisture and about to be in the dried Ghast state too.

i'm really finding all the hate for the new update distasteful.
i think no matter what mojang delivers, there's always going to be a crowd who preach that mods could do it better, or mojang is getting lazy. they complain about the updates being lackluster or unappealing or downright terrible.
i think it's dramatic.
minecraft is a game that's been running for 13 years now. minecraft is a game that has such a strong sense of community in so many different forms. minecraft is a game about taking a world and molding it to suit you.
so we found creative ways to build things that weren't in the game originally. we made our own extra content. we joined groups and created communities. we found lookalikes—roses as tomato plants, a minecart as a chair, banners as mirrors—to fill in those little details.
and when that wasn't enough, we created mods. we programmed add-ons and used minecraft as a blueprint, because minecraft was never meant to be a world left untouched by the player.
what a lot of people seem to forget is that every new addition to minecraft is just a little more for the blueprint; adding a walk-in closet to the master bedroom, building a pantry in the kitchen, renovating the dining room with crown molding and a new paint job.
and you're not paying anymore for the game! you're getting all these world updates for free—even added on to your current worlds.
this content doesn't bring in something you absolutely needed beforehand. it richens the world. it details the blueprint.
and if you're unsatisfied, build onto it.
that's what the game is about.

What if ender pearls are squishy and when you throw them, they splatter on the ground like a water balloon.
Like popping boba or fish eggs.

Watcher Grian
i like to think that he always was a watcher but unlike his peers did not raise himself above mortals instead befriending some.
Then made a server with them.
Then being belittled by his fellow Watchers.
Him returning with them could either be out of necessity, ignorance or force
"crashing on Hermitcraft"
cmon how realistic is it that out of all servers he chose the one with Mumbo in it?
He absolutely deliberately tried to find his last remaining friend (the one that wasnt in evo) and forced himself through painful firewalls just to be close to the one person that could still recognize him.
Mumbo
Grian met Mumbo first as Xelqua befriended him as such, thats why he wasnt on Evo, thats why after everything Mumbo will be able to recognize him.

@illwilledomen had pitched this idea to me on insta a little while back, so here’s my personal interpretation on some of the Enderlings! The concept art for this isn’t the best but I think people would see the vision.
Lore, warning badly written, I’ll get back to it later.
The endermen were the first, and therefore act as a kind of umbrella species to the other end-humanoids.
The enderlings are a subcategory of what is known as a secondary enderman. A secondary enderman is a humanoid that did not originate from a human person, meaning they were born an enderman, not made one. Even if they originally appeared human, they were always biologically intended to appear the way they do now, were born in the end, and have completely adjusted to the environment within the dimension. Meaning they can for an example sustain high radiation levels without any long term damage.
There are different types of secondary endermen, but the enderlings specifically mark a time within history where thought to have been long lost gods returned to their people.
The hosts eventually grew bored of watching their creations. No longer did they start wars or build funny creatures, they just sat around doing nothing. Sometimes one or two of them would break down, but such a thing wasn’t interesting.
The Testificates were unlike the artisans had been. They didn't start wars, the people of the cult tried to, sometimes, but their most powerful people preferred to reside within mansions too far from civilization to cause any real trouble. And they had no plans on letting the old artisans out of their celestial time out corner just yet.
So they decided to see what would happen to the increasingly desperate becoming, hopelessly religious grouping of former protectors would they give them children that were, to them, objectively disturbing to look at. The concept had been funny to them.
They were gods, they didn't understand the concept of human suffering, or the moral and ethical implications of splitting the human race into multiples whilst they believed they were living through their darkest hour, it was all just play. Like watching a show that had gotten so boring overtime they wished for conflict.
Atleast that’s what scholars think.
The enderlings are deformed humans, biologically. It might’ve been radiation, it might’ve been some Devine beings doing, whatever one chooses to believe. They’re a hypothetical species that hasn’t been sighted in over two millennia, we only have verbal accounts to go off of.
I hadn’t thought of the enderlings much in terms of Ancient Ruins before so this interpretation was a little harder than usual. The species is now largely extinct, but other secondary Endermen still exist, I also feel it is important to mention that there are different types of endersent! This isn’t every single one, it’s just the one that fits this biological niche.
If you have any questions ask me, I’ll try my best to answer.

Anyone else feel like Minecraft is entering a steam punk era? It started with the copper, then with the copper variants we got in the trial chambers and all the redstone stuff recently. And I mean come ON the happy ghasts harnesses??? The fact that they’re basically living hot air balloons??? Please tell me it’s not just me

A theory I have about the Wandering Trader from Minecraft is that they can speak and understand the language that the "Heroes" or "Adventures" speak. Because if you listen closely to it's noises when you aren't interacting with it you can kinda hear "hello" and "hi" if you listen closely enough.

I've seen anyone mention this, so here's my theory about why ghasts are in the nether.
Ghasts are parasites.
If dried ghasts spawn inside fossils, then they were likely within the Creature as it died.
Many parasites have a free swimming adult stage (or in the ghasts case, a flying adult stage) while the larvea can only survive in the body of a host.
The ghasts Tentacles serve no purpose for flying, so the could be used to latch onto big creatures to inject eggs
Giant creatures like the fossils would be the only thing a ghast could get it's Tentacles in to lay eggs
Only the larval stage of ghasts are capable of drying out, this makes sense as parasites can't live without a host. The larvae would also have access to lots of water in the Moist conditions of a human body.
The giants could have killed off the overworld versions of these parasites, much like what we fo with our own parasites
And so when the giants came from the overworld to the nether, a few were still infected with ghastlings. When the giants died, the ghasts lived in the carcas as it slowly was picked apart by Piglins, the ones sturdy enough to survive the climate were able to escape.
Now there is an issue with this, how hasn't the ghast died off?
Well there's a couple ways that still makes sense
1. Nothing dies of old age in Minecraft, so maybe every single ghast in the nether is one that survived the transition.
2. Ghasts aren't found in very big numbers anyway, maybe some ghastlings can survive the heat, but most can't a dry out.
3. Maybe the carcas of the giants was tok big to dry out, and assuming there's no insects or bacteria in the nether it wouldt decompose, so ghasts could still use it to breed until the ghastlings ate all of it. This would also explain why ghasts keep laying eggs in fossils, it's instint. Or maybe the ghastlings can still get some nutrients from the Soul energy of the soul sand valley
So uh, yeah. Ghasts are parasites.

Ghasts, Baby Ghasts, & Ghastlings!
Such mysterious creatures float about in the Nether. Some of them drying up as juveniles. But what are they and how exactly do they work? It's time to answer this question in some rather unconventional ways!
