My name is Penelope, I'm a worker at a small Cafe in Ithaca! My son had introduced me to Tumblr, and I couldn't help but make an account myself.

My husband is... not here these days. He's a military comander who went to fight in a war a few years ago. I don't want to tell Telemachus anything, but I'm not exactly sure he'll come back...

Unfortunately, there are many regulars in the Cafe I work at that are interested in taking my hand in marriage. I'm eternally faithful to my husband, so they never get closer than a few words... also the pepper spray kind of helps too

Chapter 13 of Rhythms is on Ao3, so this is from chapter 14, in which Carlos continues his hero's journey (with a little help from his friends):

“These past couple of days I keep catching myself feeling, like, relief. Relief that I don’t have to tell him about this. I don’t have to tell him that I write poetry, or that [redacted].”

Iris grunts. She’ll remember well, Carlos thinks, how hurt he was when Gabriel dismissed his silver trophies the way people grumble at a cloudy day. Not bright enough. Rain has ruined the plans.

“I get mad at your dad sometimes,” Iris replies quietly, almost like she’s talking to herself.

“Yeah. TK does too.”

She strokes Carlos’ face, easing him to look at her. “You should invite your dad anyway. Sometimes the dead show up.”

“You sound like Tía Lucy.”

Iris shrugs. “Remember when she read my tea leaves and told me I’d travel for a long time? She wasn’t exactly wrong.”

Carlos rolls his eyes playfully, but he says, “Well, I’m glad you came back,” and holds her hand. When he holds her hand, there’s a moment where time goes dark and then snaps and illuminates, like pressing for the next slide in a slideshow. They’re not in this classy joint on 5th anymore. They’re back in Mockingbird diner. The setting sun and pink walls create a dusty, rosy glow as they sip Coke floats and listen to Moves Like Jagger and Born This Way on the jukebox. Iris isn’t yet showing signs of schizophrenia. She hasn’t yet disappeared. Gabriel Reyes is still alive. Carlos hasn’t come out. Nearly two-thousand miles away in Manhattan, TK Strand is drinking rum from his friend’s dad’s stash and smoking a bong made out of a Pepsi bottle. The path is set.

Promemoria importante per aiutare uccelli feriti:

Se trovi un uccello che non riesce a stare in piedi da solo, non adagiarlo mai piatto in una scatola.

Invece, sostienilo in posizione eretta usando una sorta di “ciambella” fatta con un asciugamano o un panno morbido (come mostrato nell’immagine).

Questo aiuta l’uccello a respirare correttamente e a sentirsi più comodo.

🚫 Non dargli né cibo né acqua.

Sappiamo che può sembrare un gesto di gentilezza, ma offrire acqua o cibo — soprattutto a un uccello debole o incosciente — può causare aspirazione (cioè l’ingresso di liquidi nei polmoni), e può essere fatale.

👉 Per esempio: un mockingbird del Nord è stato trovato sdraiato sulla schiena e incapace di stare in piedi.

Chi lo ha trovato lo ha messo in una scatola, ma sdraiato su un lato, e ha anche tentato di fargli bere dell’acqua, peggiorando forse la sua condizione.

Solo quando gli è stato consigliato di creare una ciambella con un asciugamano e di posizionarlo in verticale, l’uccello è sembrato più vigile e confortevole, anche se respirava ancora con la bocca — segno di difficoltà respiratoria.

Gli uccelli respirano usando sacchi d’aria situati lungo i fianchi del corpo. Se sono sdraiati, quei sacchi non possono funzionare correttamente.

Per questo motivo, tenerli in posizione eretta è fondamentale per la sopravvivenza.

Hitoshi: Doll, Siren (he often teasingly calls her this as Kansa always has a way of getting what she wants from him).

Kai: Minx, Kintsugi (there’s a long story behind this one).

Mary's(my villain oc) nickname for Kai: My mate, my dearest, my devil, my birdy

Kai's nickname for Mary: His angel, his goddess and light, his vixen and naughty huntress, his little wife

Mary's nicknames for Dabi: Pyro, Dark Knight, Casanova

Dabi's nicknames for Mary: Yakuza Princess, his beauty, firebrand

Let me know what you think of my name choices? I know Dabi's has a lot of work. lol

Plus, I know I've talked about my villain fanfic and figured I would share a bit of a sneak peak here and there. Kai would probably use, "angel" the most and as for Dabi it would probably be "princess."

The way I looked at it while thinking of these nicknames was both Overhaul and Dabi think of themselves as no longer human since they gave up their names to become villains.

Overhaul becomes "A demon with no heart," as Pops calls him.

Dabi falls farther into the darkness and becoming a beast or monster.

Mary being a wolf shifter has her own inner beast. If she loses control in a fit of bloodlust or anger, she could hurt someone.

With Kai, it starts with an arranged marriage between both yakuza clans into love as the pair feels the pull of a "mated pair," between a human and a wolf.

Kai's known since he's reunited with her that she's his, he can't explain it, theirs this undeniable pull he feels towards her, the only woman for him.

With Dabi, he accepts her dark side, gives his support no matter if she kills her targets, random who offended her clan's honor, or under the haze of blood lust; he accepts it all without judgement.

He see's the fire burning within her and beast wanting to be free from it's golden cage. Even covered in the blood of her enemies, he can still see the innocence and kindness in her mismatched eyes. Dabi's a greedy bastard and he wants his princess for himself, he doesn't care if she's married or not.

It's the push and pull, darkness and light, carnal and feral desires, beauty and the beasts, human and inhuman, sanity and insanity; in laws of the underworld, villain don't get happy endings, or do they?

This is my webkinz cat Scouty! I got her october of 2022 after my cat, also named Scouty, passed away. She was named after Scout from To Kill A Mockingbird. They're identical! Even though Pinkkitty was my first webkinz, Scouty is what really set off my interest in it. I 💚 her!

Hi Scouty! I love that name. To Kill A Mockingbird is one of my favorite novels, Scout's a great character to share a name with. And to be named after a beloved passed pet is also special. It means she's filled with twice the love, enough for both herself and the original Scouty (my condolences for your loss by the way, losing a pet can be so hard *hugs*)

It's interesting to know Scouty the webkinz is what's sparked your interest for the brand, and not so much the famous Pinkkitty herself. But I'm guessing it's probably because when you have thought/do think about Pinkkitty, she's not related to some brand, she's just Her, she's Real (in the Velveteen Rabbit sense). That said, webkinz is a fun plush brand and I'm glad Scouty here got you into them (spoken as a biased Webkinz Enjoyer lol) Please give her some pets and a little treat from me!

when I remember, I get a pack or two of frozen demi baguettes from the grocery store. You put them in the oven and they come out hot and fresh and delicious. I like to put butter and honey, and goat cheese if I have it.

when my toddler nephew says my name. it makes my entire heart light up. he's my favorite.

when i see a bird. literally any bird. even the most common bird. one time I saw a mockingbird, a cardinal, and a blue jay land in the yard at the exact same time and I will never forget that. I like watching grackles because they are hilarious.

making a glass of lemonade. I like to use brown sugar instead of white sugar.
