so some news about AI. It seems Discord is apparently just. going to unconsentually add Clyde AI to servers in a slow roll out. The way they are doing this is rather than how we initially suspected he would show up as an option via the integrations tab on server settings, it appears that he is apparently being added into servers as a user who is part of the server that the admin would have to manually kick. He cannot be banned, but we can kick him repeatedly. The issue is it's unclear if there will be a greeting message for when Clyde arrives into servers and he will attempt to infiltrate again and again. Small servers this is easy to spot, big servers this is an obvious issue of sifting through who is in your server.

The sundyne life stages are:

'Egg, Early-Stage Larva, Late-Stage Larva, Prepupa, Chrysalis, Juvenile (aka hatchlings, dawns, or stilts) molt 1 (of 4), Subadult (aka drakes or kits) molt 5(of 7), Adult (adult females can be called prongs or sights while adult males can be called crowns or shines)'

Here's some more info:

They follow a pretty similar process to Drecu. Clutches are around 6-12 eggs that the female lays on the male’s lower back/hip area (they're held in place with the male's big gonopods)

Larva are soft n squishy. As they’re growing, they look almost identical to Drecu (even their extra little arms are hard to notice because they stay under the body most of the time) the most noticeable difference is the prepupa size and darker coloring, which sometimes aren’t as pronounced as a drew here. Sundyne grow Very fast (multiple individuals have noted that it’s pretty painful during the juvenile and subadult stages). Unlike Drecu, how they emerge from the chrysalis depends on good ol’ genetics rather than pheremones/enzymes. Even freshly pupated, there is a notable difference between male and female that continues on to subadult and adult stages. They're called dawns because of their muted coloring, or stilts because of their disproportionate leg and arm length.

Not all adult females have these, but the one I drew has those branches on her horns as an indication of fertility/matriarch status. Reproductive females will drop their horns and regrow them with this new feature; the more clutches they have, the greater the size and number of prongs. Nonreproductive females might drop and regrow their horns due to environmental changes (such as better nutrition or isolation from other sundyne), but they won’t get the prongs.

Males can’t shed their horns at all! However, as you can see here, they are generally more brightly colored and yellowish than females. The male pictured here actually has an absolutely goated color scheme, he’d be seen as extremely attractive and popular thanks to his dark black and prominent yellow coloration. They see yellow as their special royal color, since that pigment is what makes their signature bright orange patterns (as opposed to the simple red of Rox. The black is actually just a very dark blue). I was playing around with how much yellow tone the average Sundyne could have, as opposed to the mutation where they *only* have the yellow color (an extreeemely special and cool thing for them)

Misc fun facts:

-The random guy for scale has several splice traits going on at once: stripes, whiskers, and naturally growing pink hair! This is pretty common (I just haven’t drawn a lot of humans for example XD). Now that they aren’t being monitored or intentionally tailored, these naturalized gene mods just mix n match randomly.

-he’s not pictured here duh, but the current Seru (Emperor) has the all-yellow mutation, which was part of why he was able to take the other clans by storm ( thanks to that “born holy” type charm that they just couldn’t ignore. ). His giant angry wife, however, is fairly standard as far as Sundyne females go.

-As you could’ve guess from what I just said about the average Sundyne egg clutch size, Maro actually *had* around 5 blood-siblings from the same clutch as her! I wonder what happened to them…

Part 7: The Tower

Dusk turned the Nevamil sky a flat aquamarine, and made visible the red lights blinking atop the Citadel. It was the tallest building in the capital city, Aureodar, even visible from the far off gridded streets of old houses converted into apartments. The last time Laika had seen it was a field trip for school.

The little blue Kirov was somewhere between the mountains and Genghis Khan and the most anonymous hopper port they'd been able to find in Aureodar. She worried about Sy, seemed ages past she'd been this physically far, though it was hardly more than weeks. Wires and talismans crossed over the streets, bikes and busses swooshed wet pavement, and linecars screeched overhead, all wrapped around her and her backpack and familiar unknown faces of the United Eastquad Block.

Ghosts gathered around her, whispering. You keep coming back here little wolf girl, you'll never get away from this place. Little wolf girl, you know you belong here. Freak. Queer. Sissy. Killer. Monster. You thought you were better than us, you never were. Laika let them needle and claw her. They were her ghosts, not the other way round. Every horrible word only built her up. Luna was with her in that way.

Most of the houses on K Street were mods, from early to late first century post-terraform. They were all retrofited from the original single family modules, but they were tough as nails, old construction built to weather thr storms of atmosphere generation. Number 1132 was where she was headed, lights were still on in the third floor windows.

Laika took a last look around on the front door's stoop. The poles for street lights and warden ropes all had at least three CCTV cameras and arrayed parabolic empathy receivers tuned into psychic conflict between morality and legality. She flashed a tight little smile at the familiar old glass eye of the state before pulling a short crowbar out of her bag and cracking the door open.

The third floor smelled of some sharp, fragrant allium along with sweet woody flavors and cooking meat, enough to rouse her stomach. Deep breath, ignore the ghosts, knock. A woman with her black hair in a bob cut, rolled up sleeves on her billowy dress, a little sweaty and confused, almost a quarter meter shorter than Laika. A wave of gaming sounds, net music, and oven warmth joined them both on the landing.

"Hey Tara," Laika said.

The other woman looked closer. "Laika? Oh tides, it is!" She wrapped Laika up in a big soft hug inside thick arms, crushing her stick body. "I thought you, I don't know, I thought you were dead! I mean, there were rumors?"

"Uff! Uh, hey. Sorry to be like, unannounced. Is it okay if I come in?" Laika hesitantly patted Tara's shoulders until the hug relaxed and her feet were back on the floor.

"You just have to, please. I'm sorry, when did you get back, why didn't you call?"

Unlacing her boots and slipping them off, she said, "I just got back today, um. I've been a bit off the net you know." She dipped her hand in the tiny basin by the door and thumbed a drop of water on the polished river stone at the altar. "But I wanted to see how you'd been, I guess. It just, well it's weird. That smells amazing."

She saw a couple kids blasting through uncreatively humanoid aliens, loudly and luridly across the living room screen, followed Tara into the kitchen and dinette area and watched her stir around sizzling veggies and meat in a wide dish. "Thanks," Tara said. "The spawn over there don't always appreciate it, but you know how... well, how kids can be..." Tara frowned awkwardly.

"Yeah, uh. Yeah." Laika rubbed the back of her neck. "So what all have you heard?"

Tara stuttered with a little embarassment. In the distance Laika could very faintly hear sirens, but she knew they weren't for her. The people who would come for her didn't use sirens or advertise their presence.

Half paying attention to Tara, she added, "Well, uh, some is true. But... you knew it was bad at home. Stuff happened. What about you though? Like, two kids? Wow!"

Tara probably was relieved at the change of topic, and Laika was glad to take a minute, but she couldn't focus all the way. She was waiting.

Heya guys, ymoved blogs (@garden-view-research-teams), this is a new blog you can actually send asks in.Well, This is kind of a new AU and Blog that polishes out the flaws and inconsistencies with the old AU that was shadowbanned and said blog will be deleted. What's the Survival! AU about? Basically the original Toons (aka the ones we play in-game) are slowly being twisted and taking the effects of the Ichor Operation as Dandy went missing right after. The Toon are separated in different teams as they face the other twisteds accidentally created by Dandy himself as they try to find out whatever happened.

Rules:

-Please start your ask either like "To (Toon)", or "To (Team)", and no "Can you hug me"s or "Can I give you cookies". (sorry-)

-You CAN give the toons things or even magics anon (tho no timeline/untwisting)

-Can ask about research and give info on twisteds -Yeah feel free to be silly and goofy I don't mind-

TEAM BASIC

The first team made, Toodles isn't allowed to go on Runs often due to Rodger wanting to protect her, but when she is, Pebble has to go, too. Though if he goes wild, then Poppy and Boxten are alone or have to move to another team. With all of that aside, these guys know how to finish floors fast.

TEAM CLEANS O' JOY

These Toons know how to be prepared! Defending from twisteds and doing their jobs very well. They can get rather distracted at times…With that so, the team knows to support eachother and keep going no matter what!

TEAM BRIGHTS O' AQUATIC (My favorites-)

They're not the best…but not the worst too (if you don't count Shrimpo I guess). This team's compositions is just for Toons that aren't too well liked (minus Astro and Brightney, god pray that this team isn't going down). They CAN get the job done, just expect several problems on the way.

TEAM BAKES O' SILENCE

This team's…..well they're quite…"unique" to put it lightly. Despite Flutter's weird staring habit and Sprout being a bit wild at times, this team does try to work things out. Razzle and Dazzle may not agree on everything, even in dire situations, but they're better than Team Brights o' Aquatic anyway.

TEAM FANCY O' ELECTRONICS

Probably the only team with some self-preservation. Rodger started the whole "Search Teams" idea and recruited many of the others along the way. Watch out for Vee though, she can get a bit…crazy, along with the others

Just wondering… does Rinshi have a tapetum lucidum? I have seen their pupils glow in a comic you made a while back, but I would like to confirm my suspicions…

(I really like the fact that Riley has a tapetum lucidum. Totally not planning to do anything with that information-)

Rinshi does!!! (But not all muttreazik do. It depends on the host!). Rinshi's is highly effective and is able to focus the light back in a way that preserves a sharp image. This, combined with their Giant eyes, gives them crazy good day and night vision (and a general sensitivity to light, which is part of why their eyes are lidded most of the time.) They've been like that since birth and are actually supposed be primarily nocturnal according to their "blueprint"!! However, Rinshi has gone with the interesting tactic of not sleeping at night *or* during the day, which has had fascinating consequences on their metabolism, mental state, and other physiological processes.

Other muttreazik, as a result of their host, have structures more similar to canines/felines/etc where they get blurrier day vision as a result of that thing in their eyes scattering light.

Maro also has reflective structures in her eyes that give her night vision (all sundyne do. Drecu do not), but the exact layout/composition is unknown (apparently "better" than animals from earth, though, since they don't seem to lose any image quality! Sundyne are still less comfortable in areas with bright lights tho)

And, most humans have a tapetum lucidum mod!! The mod itself was put into place in humans due to some idea that it'd make spacefaring people more energy efficient (if you can see in the dark, you dont need to turn the lights on)

It kind of caught on more as a designer craze after that because of the eye shine (one of the ways to market/ distinctly signify that youre a Space Human), and then modding was banned so now everyone that coded it into their lineage got stuck with it. Which was a lot of people because a lotta people were going to space back then.

Anyway, the mod used strepsirrhine primates as the 'link' to humans or something. It was designed to bounce light back while still maintaining the quality of images you'd see during the day too (idk, by not bouncing Too much back and having a way to focus some more of the reflected light with less scatter. (?) Sundyne have a perfect natural version of this and they are Not sharing the details) This ineffectiveness, along with the size of the average human eye and pupil not being affected, only makes wh humans slightly better at seeing in the dark than an earth human would be. It's definitely a noticeable difference, tho.

The amount of people who have this mod is to the point where it's not enough of an alteration on its own for you to be considered a splice (so fun fact, Zoe Lee and Devin also have it!! It's actually why Devin needs glasses lol, his is a bit broken). It's more unusual for you to *not* have it XD

And I guess while I'm on a roll about who can and can't see in the dark well, again Dorest and Rox (drecu) can't (they never really evolved to since theyre dinural) Kixeli don't have any adaptations for seeing in the dark (they rely on vibrations/more light let in by big pupils when in deep water. they're also dinural) and Rossetians use their tongue and heat pits for low light areas (their eyes are not built for it, mostly due to them being matutinal). Prectikar can see in the dark using a tapetum lucidum too (they are crepuscular)
