I'm pretty sure I'm the only one still on this blog. One of the other mods was a sex pest and I cut contact. I think she's doing better now. I dated one of the other mods for a couple years, but we broke up eventually. He & I are still good friends and talk regularly. I haven't spoken to the other... two? three? I don't remember... in several years. Not since this blog stopped. But I will continue to poast in their memory. Post for the bad times. Post for the good times. But always, always post for SONIC. Hello anonymous asker from nearly a decade ago! It's a shame anonymous asks don't have timestamps, I would have loved to count how many years this was sitting here. I like the spider.

Asexuals are awesome. Aromantics are awesome. Full stop.

I have toyed with using the ace label myself, but simply don't find it meaningful in my worldview.

A lot of the new terminology that came out of the 2014-style ace discourse was objectifying and pathologizing of healthy queer romance and sexuality. I had my own reaction to that at the time on my own blog, which I've kept up for posterity, even though my current opinions are far more lax.

A lot of what people described as a typical 'allosexual' experience are things that most people don't really experience (most people don't look at another person and immediately start thinking about sex), whether they identify as asexual or not, plus the lines between sexual and romantic and platonic are largely a matter of cultural norms and idioms, not any thoughts or feelings inherent to one person or another.

Hence, a lot of the very stringent models of sexuality that people came up with at the time have fell out of use, but, people are of course still identifying as asexual and aromantic for various reasons, all valid in their own right, too. I don't have anything negative to say about anyone who uses those labels and describes their feelings in such a way.

As for me, when I'm attracted to someone, the feelings of friendship, kinship, romance, sex, caregiving, are all tied up into one big ball - love is love. The brain releases dopamine, it's all the same. And that's how most experience attraction as I've come to learn as I've grown older. It's an all-encompassing feeling. So to say I'm, a 'homosexual' or 'homoromantic', or 'asexual' or 'aromantic' would not do justice to just how interconnected all those thoughts and feelings really are for me, and, this is important, how they can vary from person to person and moment to moment.

That said, I have plenty of friends who simply say "to hell with it!" and don't bother at all! And I respect them! Honestly, I'm not attracted to the majority of people, but that has nothing to do with, like, my orientation, and everything to do with how much my personality clashes with other people's personalities LOL
