"Do you remember a moment when you listened to new music that changed your life forever? I certainly do. I was twelve, tired of the golden oldies my parents played on car trips and not feeling the current music scene. So, I asked my dad, as he drove us home, who some of his favorite artists were.
“'Hendrix,' he replied. 'Chuck Berry, but you knew that. Cream.' As we slowed down on our offramp, he turned the steering wheel and looked at me at the stop sign. 'Janis. You’ve gotta listen to Janis Joplin.'
"I don’t remember how I found her work that night, but I do remember that when I listened to 'Cry Baby', her shrieking start pierced my chest, and I instantly became a lifelong fan."

6. How long did your questioning process take (if you’re not still going through it)?
it's hard to ssy really. from 13 onwards i was trying to figure out what was "wrong" with me, until i found the term asexual when i was 15. but even then i was still often confused, questioning it and changed labels sometimes. same with being nonbinary. i never actively questioned anything until i found the word nonbinary. i did start questioning about 10 months in when agender as a label felt wrong and i found the term maverique, as well as back in 2021 when i used different labels for a while. so, my experience doesn't really fit the "questioning, then figuring it out and sticking with it forever", and i can't say for sure that i won't question something again. my only identity that fits that timeline is bi. adding up all my questioning time i'd probably get to like 5 years out of 12 years when i first started questioning until now, lol.
Are lesbians mean or do you expect women to innately perform emotional labor at all times? Are lesbians mean or do you afford women less grace when they fuck up? Are lesbians mean or are you uncomfortable with those who don't cater to men? Are lesbians mean or are you imagining a trans woman disagreeing with you?
