As if the rest of us here in AZ somehow didn't notice. Trust me, we all have. But that doesn't mean the #work stops. Its just a #circumstance... one that will soon change. Thinking about it is about as useless as a weatherman in #Phoenix. Too many times circumstances are #elevated to reasons to stop moving, to break #positive habits and ultimately hurt your #progress. In these moments, you have an #opportunity to do one of two things: self signal that you will not tolerate #excuses or self signal that you will. Anytime you use some rationale to avoid keeping your word to yourself, you are telling yourself that you can't #trust yourself. Self signaling your own weakness. This will tear at the fabric of your #identity making you believe your are incapable. But the opposite is also true... in times of #tough circumstance when you self signal that you're going to do the work anyway, hit that workout, or walk to the #gym in 100+ degree heat: You GAIN power. You feel more trust in your ability to rely on yourself. You #moveanyway. Ultimately, increasing your self #confidence. It starts with little things. She has faced some obstacles... to put it lightly. And when I say obstacles, imagine a pathway from India, which included being practically a servant in an arranged marriage, escaping, being nearly deported and still... is the most positive, happy, and upbeat person you'll meet. Galileo faced this when he wrote that the earth revolved around the sun... the world wasn't ready for that and it's rumored that he was forced to recant the statement. Everyone knew the sun revolved around the earth in that era. But, what everyone knew was wrong. The one man that got it right was ridiculed. And today we see this play out over and over again. The masses have an idea of how the world works, how life works, and yet... so often that idea is limited by their own irrational fears and beliefs. And they live a small life because of it. They allow circumstances to prevent them from getting under a #barbell or earning what they are worth. It's a classic case of life controlling you rather than you taking charge of your life. Yet, anyone who points out they should #moveanyway on what they want is cast aside as "not understanding" the problem. Maybe having someone tell you to move anyway is a gift. Maybe that person sees capabilities in you that you can't access because of your limiting beliefs. What if they're right? This was me this morning... I woke up feeling like "It's not going to happen today" and had to go to war with my mentality. I was in my own head telling myself a bullshit story about how I weak and small I was. How no matter what I did or didn't do, I was going to fail myself...body and mind. Didn't want to move, much less work out or think about my businesses. So what. Now what. Now I pull out my journal and exorcise those demons... got all negative talk out of my head. "Sometimes even to live is an act of courage." - Seneca. I remember growing up dirt poor in rural Georgia for the first part of my life. Dad was going to school. Mom was working to help get him through school. The deal was this: If Mom helped Dad get through school, then when he finished she would never have to work a job again. And she hasn't. Ever. Even when times were tough and money was short, Dad kept his word. No matter what. There were times when it would have been easier to share the load, he could have backed out on his commitment and no one would have blamed him. Yet somehow, that was never an option for him. I think of this when I don't want to get something done. The courage it requires to #moveanyway when you are in a state of fear or worry or straight up doubt about your abilities to complete a task. When I don't want to write content for you, or go to the gym for me, or invest in my wife I remember this story. It re-centers me... grounds me to the moment and reminds me that quitting is a choice.
