hot take: miu isn’t more popular than teruteru and hifumi just because she’s conventionally attractive. it’s because she’s actually relevant to the plot and her backstory, as unrealistic as it is compared to others, is easier to sympathise and relate to.

arguably weirdest difference between current dr fandom n older for me is as dr3 was airing we all collectively hated it and decided it wasnt canon and current fandom doesnt even think it retcons sdr2... current fandom LIKES kodaka 😩

What do you think is the saddest moment from each main game?

fuck that's hard to answer...

spoilers under the cut because I'm gonna get into it.

Dr1 during ch4 was the saddest for me, but if I'm being honest most of the game did not make me super emotional.

Dr2... Okay I cried during the final trial while Hinata was being forced to chose between two options where he would have basically died. The entire realization that Hinata shouldn't have even technically have been in the game in the first place, everything that happened with the Kumukura Project, the fact this man was LITERALLY LOBOTOMIZED. This man went through so much and it hit me really hard. Especially all of the gameplay moments where the game literally broke and you couldn't fire truth bullets anymore because he fully fell into despair. I cried when Nanami showed up because they share something in common which is the fact that their consciousness now ONLY exists in the Neo World Program, and she was in such a unique position to comfort him.

Very emotional and both really sad and really hopeful all at the same time.

(Retrospectively it made Nanami's execution A LOT more painful too.)

We don't talk about how dr3 made that weird, no way.

I'd say Peko's execution came in a close second, but because the trial beforehand was pretty weak it was NOT the saddest moment in the game.

NDRV3 - Okay okay so... for these I went back through my dms with @/prompt-master because I was talking with them a lot while I was playing, they were getting LIVE reactions from me. I searched for the phrase "I cried" and then "I'm crying" because we don't use those phrases a lot in dms (a total of like... 30 ish times in our LITERAL YEARS worth of dms)

in ndrv3 or me personally I'd say Ouma's death hit me the hardest even if it wasn't necessarily the saddest.

I find things sad when the have an emotional oh shit moment and trial 5 had a MAJOR oh shit moment. Death by hydrolic press would be absolutely terrible, not instantaneous in the slightest, simply crushing weight until you finally die.

That being said? I think the saddest moment is probably very early on and it's the aftermath of Akamatsu's death. It's sad and it only is more bitter once you know that she didn't actually kill Amami. As much as there are other tragic and sad moments, Akamatsu's death and the subsequent Clair de Lune scene are some of the truly saddest parts of the game.

and of all of the sad moment's Akamatsu's death didn't have a catch. Gonta's death was heart wrenching... until the execution was crashed with weird birth horror and Ouma went mental. Kirumi's death in theory was really sad but she was the prime minister???? what???? I personally wasn't attached to Yumeno's struggles too much and they were always pretty flat.

but Akamatsu's death really hit hard and continued too even if I wished the cast would stfu about her most of the time. One of the best ways to make something sad is to show everyone in universe reacting and feeling sad and dr did that pretty decently here.
