When Tommy saved Bobby for the second time—this time eight years in the past—it flashed me back to last summer, when Tim Minear posted a BuckTommy video to his facebook.

In that video, a fan effectively highlighted the concept of 'Invisible String Theory' and how it related to BuckTommy as a pairing, while also pointing out how this made Tommy Kinard stand out as not just a unique and effective love interest for Buck, but also an influential character for the direction of the show in general.

So, having a new flashback where Tommy is the one to save Bobby in the past, when it could have just as easily been anyone else who saved him, adds even more contextual layers to the concept. Because had Tommy not intervened at this moment, Bobby likely would have fallen into the inferno and died, leading to the alteration or complete erasure of just about everything we have witnessed in the show since 1x01--never mind just Buck no longer meeting Tommy. It makes me consider that the concept of ‘Invisible String Theory’ may have actually resonated with Minear in a truly influential way once it was brought to his attention, via that video or elsewhere, and that he didn’t just post that video for mere fandom points. Because with this latest development, we have veered away from ‘accidental Invisible String Theory’, to what appears to now be intentional. With this latest development, the writing continues to integrate Tommy into the show’s past and present, while further establishing a strong foundation for his place in the show’s future. It's yet another solid piece of evidence pointing to true longevity for the BuckTommy pairing.

Slightly Less Modern Epic Au—The year is 1920 and M.E Athena has noticed Hermes is acting odd. There's less of a sparkle in his eye, he's not doing the accent as much, he seems a lot less energetic, he's just...Off. Athena's concerned—this personality shift is so wrong to her. She spends a while thinking about a way to fix it, then it comes to her.

M.E Athena: Hermes?

Hermes: Yeah?

M.E Athena: Go visit your daughter, the three year old in Maine.

Hermes: ...Huh?

M.E Athena: Go visit your toddler—I'll vouch for you.

Hermes: I'm sorry, I don't understand why you're—?

M.E Athena: Go.

Hermes: Okay! Okay!

•Five Hours Later•

M.E Athena: How was it?

Hermes: She's so adorable Athena! She wanted to play this game called tag!? The little rascal can run like a damn track dog!

M.E Athena: Sounds like you two had fun.

The sparkles not back completely but it's getting there. By the time it's bright and bold again it'll have probably changed a little but it won't die and that's all that matters. M.E Athena keeps vouching for him, offers him an ear whenever he needs to bitch and vent, and so Hermes becomes M.E Hermes instead of PJO Hermes.

i always forget that eddie never really talks about buck with anyone in the show, its just such a stark contrast to how buck is always seen talking about eddie to others or bringing up eddie’s Things in front of the 118 or whatever. hopefully we will start seeing eddie talk about buck to strangers in texas (kinda like he did with marjan) :) seems like a good segue into an eventual feelings realization

right now im of the opinion (and kinda what i tried to convey in my last answer) that like. NOT showing us that is starting to have weight to it. because we have gotten so many episodes of Buck's feelings ABOUT Eddie in the last two seasons. and specifically Buck HIDING feelings from Eddie (even something as small as the way Buck's face falls--out of Eddie's line of sight--in 8x01 and 8x08). i think the last time we got similar shots from eddie was in 6b during buck's recovery arc.

and like obviously one reason is that buck and eddie are very different people. eddie keeps things, especially things that matter to him, close to the chest. buck really doesn't. another reason is that buck has an outlet or two to talk about eddie to other people (maddie is a recurring one, tommy in 704 was another, chim even was one way back in s2). Eddie...doesn't have that. who does he usually go to first with things? Buck. occasionally Bobby (sometimes only after Buck has suggested it).

but regardless of the practical reasons for it, the unevenness of this POV issue is starting to feel interesting to me. like now the possibility of getting a glimpse of how eddie thinks about/talks about Buck to other people who AREN'T buck could be revealing in a fun way.

and like to be clear what i am talking about is Eddie's PERCEPTION of his feelings. because I think the show has made Eddie's feelings about Buck pretty clear over the last 7 seasons. we just don't know if HE is like, fully aware/able to acknowledge how deep his feelings go. but the show has been very clear since at least s3 about how deep those feelings are.

I feel like it’s been a long time since I really acknowledged my fentanyl clean time actually. Which makes sense. The meth recovery is more recent and more fresh on my mind. If I have cravings nowadays they’re for meth, not fentanyl. Not heroin. But even that’s a miracle. Because fentanyl used to control my every thought emotion and action 24/7 for years. So barely even thinking about it for weeks or months at a time is fucking cool. You know?

No but there’s actually something so poetic about Theo’s approach to Liam’s anger post-hell. Like, the way he immediately hones in on that as a Problem he can Fix just by being the way he is (locker room scene my beloved) after everything that happened in S5, everything he did to rark Liam up and drive him to such intense rage he tried to kill his own Alpha.

For Theo to come back, see Liam losing it a little bit and falling back on his rage and the violence that comes with it and be the one to get in his way, to stop him from doing something he’d regret by knocking him out (five times :) ), to show up in that locker room and talk him down just by being a sarcastic little bastard.

I don’t think Theo feels guilty as such about a lot of what he did in S5, but I do think he saw Liam after he pulled Theo out of hell and saw the anger that he himself weaponised and maybe felt a little bit of regret, a little bit of responsibility for where Liam is now, and realised that he was uniquely equipped to actually help him.
