also there’s cat puns in some of the captions for kwazii bc i talked about this before the korean version of octonauts has kwazii make his words sound like meows (most of his words end with -ng bc korean meow is yaong)

i rly like kwazii’s voice in the korean dub bc the combination of how he sounds like he’s meowing and even thouh his voice isnt as loud it makes him sound cuter

hi so um. I wrote a hypothetical Wikipedia article for the waves that lap the shore. Hope yall enjoy.

The Waves that Lap The Shore 

The Waves That Lap The Shore is British-American Octonauts X H2O: Just Add Water crossover that first started airing on October 15th 2023 on Netflix (US) and BBC (UK). 

It started off as a Fanfiction posted on Tumblr, AO3 and Wattpad. However, the author and show creator, Kitty.L. Wayne (more known by her online usernames, Kittysboba and Asexual-SpongeBob) got permission to make it into a show. 

It was produced by Mainframe Studios, Silvergate Media and Brown Bag Films and was written Kitty . L. Wayne.

The theme song “No Ordinary Girl” is by Kate Alexa, The same theme song as second season of H2O. The end credits song is the Mako Mermaids (or otherwise, Mako: Island Of Secrets) theme song. 

It is also well known for rock music to be used as background music, a notable example being Weezer’s “Only In Dreams” being used in an episode of the same name. 

Its first season is still currently airing and has 20 episodes planned, 19 of which have aired. 

Surprisingly, unlike most Octonauts episodes it’s one big episode. No segments.

These episodes can range from 10 -24 minutes depending on the episode.

Not to mention, unlike both shows it’s based on, It is rated TV-14 for usage of cursing and mental health issues. 

It was renewed for a second season in late January of 2024. 

The show takes place in Ireland (first half of season one) and Australia (second half of season one + beyond)

Plot: 

The Octonauts go to Ireland to study sea creatures, Shellington stumbles upon some mysterious sea caves while going for a walk and decides to check it out. Little does he know this would change him, his partner’s  and friends lives forever. 

Trivia:

Surprisingly, in this show there is romantic relationships. Unlike one of the shows it’s based on, Octonauts. Those relationships being Shellso, Twashi and Kwazini. Shellso being the most shocking to fans.

Not to mention its inclusion of LGBTQIA+/ Queer themes. And mental health issues. 

Both Kwazii and Paani have ADHD.

Kwazii and Paani are also Demisexual and Demiromantic.

Shellington is autistic and he is also a trans man. He is also bi. 

Peso was the first person to find out about Shellington being a merman.

In the US dub, Peso can be heard cursing in Spanish, for example at the end of Kisses Of Ash he is seen saying “Sí. Estamos cansados de cojones.” Which translates to “Yes. We are tired as fuck.” However in the UK version he just says cuss words in English.

Peso has AUDHD and is transmasc (he/it) and is also gay. 

Kisses Of Ash is based off the h2o episode “Bad Moon Rising”.

Paani becomes a merperson in episode twenty, as seen in the trailer for the episode.

The weirdest episode was episode two, “The Quest For Mussels” , where we see Shellington slurping out the flesh from mussels. It is also considered the grossest episode by fans and writer themself, Kitty.

In this show, Kwazii has RSD. It was confirmed in episode 18 “The Disappearance”. 

Shellington has the same power as Cleo, Peso as the same power as Emma and Kwazii has the same power as Rikki.

It took awhile for Shellington to discover his power over water, while it didn’t take long for Kwazii, Peso and Paani. 

Many people were shocked to find out that the series is rated TV 14. 

It was first released in the US and UK.

Rock Lobster by the B52’s can be heard in episode 15.

Shellington is seen listening to Weezer’s “Why Bother” in episode 12.

Kwazii likes the Spice Girls.

Tweak and Kwazii are seen singing Sublime’s “Smoke Two Joints” in episode 13.

Professor Inkling didn’t make his first appearance until episode 5.

Paani is seen listening to Nirvana’s “Scentless Apprentice” in episode 19.

Vegimals : Biology and Culture Of Sirens !! ====================

WHOOOOOOOO THE BABIESSSSS OOOOOO!!! Fair warning, this is gonna get long, lolll (also, I am praying this doesn't flop because I worked very hard on this and am super proud of it 😅)

THE VEGIMALS' BASICS:

The Vegimals, as we all know, are funky little fish-vegetable creatures adopted and raised by (mainly) Shellington, and of which there are many. According to the Wiki, there are 16 (not including Vegi-Bot), but for the purpose of simplicity (or not knowing), most people tend to stick to the main five: Tunip, Barrot, Tominnow, Codish, and Grouber

Personally, I believe they all exist, but for continuity reasons and simplicity, as stated previously, anything canon to my AU will only include the main five.

THE VEGIMALS' BIOLOGY (MY AU):

I have always had a fascination with monsters, cryptids, and mythology, but by far, my favorite genre of mythological/folkloric creatures are sea creatures; leviathans, mermaids, and for my Octonauts AU, ✨️sirens !✨️

My vegimals are sirens (the idea came from their humming/song in the show), more specifically Abyssal Sirens, the most aggressive, territorial, and dangerous type of siren due to the harsh conditions of their home/ecosystem. Why? Because I can use it for juicy D R A M A !!

[According to the speculative biology of my AU, there are sirens born and bred for each level of depth in the sea. Epipelagic (Sunlight), Mesopelagic (Twilight), Bathypelagic (Midnight), Abyssopelagic (The Abyss), & Hadalpelagic (The Trenches). Sirens are too complex a species to live in the Hadalpelagic, and resources are too slim for even them, a highly adaptable species.]

Anywho, much of the basic design parts of their biology are in the drawings, but not how they would live in a world, so here that is ! -------------

The Vegimals are amphibious, and therefore can breathe on both land and underwater, but in a more specialized way where they have gills specifically made for each place to get their oxygen from. Because of these specialized gills, they can spend as long as they'd like on either side, as long as their primarily "made-for-salt-water" skin is moisturized. It is a part of the daily care routine that Shellington has for them --- regardless of whether or not they have a mission that day, Shellington will take the Vegimals out to swim and rejuvenate their skin/scales for at least an hour a day. Another part of this routine is a daily scrub/grooming (cleaning) of their scales, although Shellington doesn't have to do much work anymore as the Vegimals get older and learn to groom themselves . . . Except for Tominnow, she's still too small to get that much needed deep clean. Both Shellington and Codish (who I headcanon is closer to her than the other vegimals) will help her out. ☺️

They (sirens) are a species built perfectly for the hunt, using their highly advanced vocal cords and a pheromone secreted during the process of "singing" to lure in their prey. The Vegimals have a natural instinct to sing/hum when "catching" food, AKA, when they are cooking/baking. The Octopod is always filled with their chipper song when the time to eat rolls around.

But cal, the vegimals aren't man-eating monsters. What's that about? 🤔

Well, according to the speculative biology of my AU, and as stated before, sirens are very adaptable creatures and can alter their own genetic makeup in a matter of weeks. This is why the vegimals do not look or act very threatening, although those basic instincts are still in their little bodies deep down. Newborn sirens are extremely clingy, as they need to learn how to live through observation. They learned to be kind and helpful from their papa, Shellington, who is their primary caretaker, and the other Octonauts --- but will always have their base instincts, that's something they can't adapt out of. They just don't pose much of an issue in their day to . . . very often. 😈

Sirens, due to their adaptability, can function in both solitude and company. Young spend around a year together, learning from their mother. The vegimals never had any need to separate after maturity (they are roughly pre-teens at this point and are of that age in the present time of my AU) so they stuck together, continuing to follow the lead of their father figure . . . Aaaaand, their leader.

Leader? Who?

Why, Tunip, of course (along with Shellington and Barnacles, but more-so Tunip)! Sirens, when grouped together, form a hive-minded semi-hierarchical social structure, where the strongest and smartest of the group will act as the "queen bee." The leader of the group will make most of the decisions concerning shelter, food, and the safety of the group, but for anything else, it is a group effort.

Sirens are an omnivores species who will eat what all that is available to them. And that means everything is on the table. Think of them as the pigs, raccoons, or even the vultures of the ocean --- they will hunt, forage, or scavenge for what they need, and with keen senses like spectacular vision, smell, hearing, and speed, they are very good at providing for themselves, once they've learned to do so (and they learn quickly, so is the way of the ocean).

Second of all, can you tell me a bit more about Creature Cases in your AU? I've started watching it and it seems interesting. You don't have to though, it's completely up to you! Have a nice day!

C.L.A.D.E. for anyone who isn't familiar is, " The Covert League of Animal Detective Experts ". Also known as "Creature Cases" which is a show featured on Netflix. It's made by the same people as the Octonauts and has quite the interesting style and spin on learning about nature and animals.

The Organization (& Branch of the A.S.A.) is lead and directed by Director/Professor Peggy Scratch.

" Scratch is a no nonsense leader, putting up a serious front most of the time. However, she will act more casual and relaxed when no one is around, revealing herself to be as eccentric as her agents and not above their levels of fun. " [ Wiki ]

All we know is that she likes bowling and corn muffins (I think that's what they're called??? I searched desperately for this episode and still couldn't find it. T^T). She was once an Agent herself, and one of the best in C.L.A.D.E. history, except for the very fact that she could never solve the Case of Roxy Raider, an infamous food thief who evaded her efforts when they were young.

(Kit -> Sam)

Sam & Kit however (the main characters of the series) are currently C.L.A.D.E.'s best agents, from what I can only tell they seem to only have been working together for around 1-2 years. At the start of the series it seems Kit is more curious of how missions and even C.L.A.D.E. runs. Allowing me to believe that she's a newly made agent, and with her help, Sam was able to climb the ranks to Senior Agent quicker than he would have on his own.

(Thus allowing them to start training other agents such as Cubby)

Now, how C.L.A.D.E. operates within my Au is very similar to how it's organized in the show, however in my story they run through a Legal System. This system basically allows them to enforce certain laws within each country/region they visit, as if they themselves were officers and natives to that region. So they are able to truly be detectives and help/step in/ arrest when the situation calls for it.

The characters are also slightly tweaked as well, each of the main three (at least) has their own backstory. Sam & Kit's are rather simple while Director Scratch has one that's a little more complicated.

What you need to know about C.L.A.D.E.:

(Within the A.S.A. Au)

C.L.A.D.E. was founded by a man named Lwazii Ntuli, who originally intended it to be run as a secret operative group to combat the lack of aid the UN was displaying at the time. (They were basically secret agents/super spies) This organization ran for many years beyond the public eye. Shadowed by Professor Ntuli's technological advances within the scientific field.

Some of you may recognize his name as he was the inventor of the Temperature Regulation Suits (TRS) that the Octonauts use in order to acclimate/regulate themselves when they are not serving in their natural habitats.

(Featured in Barnacles Headcanons Pt. 1 & Peso's Headcanons)

The suits are described as . . . "Specialized for creatures who otherwise would not be able to breathe/function in places that weren’t their natural territory. In order to test them they were given out to those who earned scholarships from out of the way places such as the Arctic, Antarctic, the seas/ocean, etc., etc."

As years passed new laws were set in place by the USA, the UK, & the UN, allowing C.L.A.D.E. to eventually come out of hiding. However records show that not even a year into their public reveal, Lwazii Ntuli was mysteriously killed. The murderer was never found and shortly after his successor took over, and who we now know as Director Scratch.

Their relationship is unknown, but it is apparent that Ntuli trusted Scratch enough to give her the title of Director, if he was ever unable to continue his work, instead of one of his three children who are to remain nameless at this time.

20 years have passed since his death but C.L.A.D.E. is stronger than it has ever been, on it's way to being the first organization to be stationed in every country and region in the world.

Question to Tumblr's Octonaut's Fandom,

I have a few question that I would like to ask before continuing work on an AU I came with for it to make sure I do not deviate TOO far from the character's canon personalities.

(This is why this came to be. The questions are ahead if you don't want to read)

I started thinking about this when I jokingly asked one of my friends during class "Imagine your favorite childhood show... Now imagine them as the mafia." And they replied, "You can't do that to the Octonauts!" jokingly. I loved the concept so much I ended up drawing Kwazii in a mafia-esc outfit, which made me start hyper-fixating on the Octonauts somehow.

1. How accurate is the Wiki? I know the Fandom Wiki can be edited to have incorrect information so I wanted to make sure that doesn't happen often.

2. Should I watch the entire show before writing? (I started on Season 2 by accident and am on S2 E4)

3. If question 2 is true, should I also watch Above and Beyond?

4. How strict are y'all with head canons and stuff like that?
