I haven't posted in a million years but I drew this in a card exchange on my bookfriend server and was really pleased with how it came out. I am 99% sure the recipient won't see it here first accidentally. Oli-oop (this is the ship name I came up with and I will accept no others lol) and Boogie from my favorite series, Big Bad Wolf by Charlie Adhara.

It starts with The Wolf at the Door and everyone should read it. The wolf is not in wolf form for most of it though so I guess don't be deceived by my art lol 😭 it's so good though ugh I love them. If this shows up on any of my old Almost Human fan friend's feeds, you will love this series. Don't walk, run. It's even included in the audible plus catalog - though do note, the narrator is pretty monotone in the first book but he improves in the 2nd and 3-5 are some of my fave narrations *ever*.

I don't usually advertise my fics on Tumblr (mostly I just don't think about it unless I'm doing a Challenge), but... I felt like this fic needed it. I've spent months on it in an attempt to convey my vision, my interpretation of canon events - and get some catharsis about the bits I didn't like. I finished it today. I want to share it with anyone who will listen.

Summary:

There has been an invasion.

They don't understand the emperors' ways, nor the allyships that have been so precariously created. Their own way of building, trading, and interacting with each other is strange and different. At first, the empires hesitantly welcome the visitors in - the emperors aren't barbarians. But as the Rifties get more comfortable with the world, will their technology and power really help the empires grow? Or will the Rift threaten to tear the empires apart?

It's about colonialism. It's about people trying to extend their hospitality to visitors, only most of those visitors turn out to be invaders. It's about the emperors watching the changes and industrialization of their land and looking at the people who caused it and thinking "hey - we could do something about that". And then they do. It's around 28k words, my second-longest fic ever. It's important. to me.
