I saw the tags on the last ask but EXCUSE ME, NINE of those Dark Matter things?!?!?! Isn't that way too much than needed, hello!? Culann really got it bad after being forced just one (I'm really sorry if I ended up referring him in a bad way- T^T), but why nine times the amount?! Ouch... My bad on it getting to me by a lot, but I like both Tanta and Ares because the former's my first monster to get while playing and the other being the one that kept me curious about the game itself.. Aaaaaa, I hadn't been keeping up lore wise other than from watching gameplays alone but the big bad of chapter 4 just gives me bad vibes all over him, I think Laphroaig or something was his name? I swear if the personal theory of mine on Laphoraig is wanting a blank replacement that's like him or worse if he himself is gone was the right guess, it's gonna be vengeance time- Hdhahahbdsj, please let Oreca Battle be updated soon so I can beat Laphoraig with Purgatory Emperor Ares in the team!

Aishhh... Um, l-let's try to put that away for a bit, at least something just for me to do. Speaking of Culann, do you have any headcanons you can share? Kinda curious on which hero he's obsessing over in his 4☆ form, with his 3☆ form is literaly the positive polar of a defensive tanker instead of going on offensive. What happens in that one frame though, where he's being held back with Balt at the corner?

Yup, nine pieces of those Dark Matters on his headpiece- And interestingly enough, it's only apparent on the second version of Purgatory Emperor Ares Which described in the JP Fanwiki, is when any traces of who he was as a passionate warrior have gone and replaced by the purgatory emperor persona

Also, your theory might have not been far off Because from the description on Phantom Laphroaig's JP fanwiki page, his intention to invade the kingdom persist even without physical form

And now, to answer some of your questions about Culann

I'll put it under the cut, because this answer might go so long because of the images-

When Culann was first corrupted by Dark Matter in Demizu Posuka's manga, his obsession was to get stronger And in that state of mind, turning into a hero is the method he knows of to get stronger

But since "Sign of a Brave Hero" rejected him, he went on a blind rampage-

And this is a piece of my own headcanon, but if the Dark Matter that's inside Culann were not destroyed in this fight, the hero he is going be obsessed to, without a doubt, is going to be Tanta-

But since his obsession started with wanting to be stronger and/or anything related to a hero, he might also go berserk if he were to encounter other warrior with Hero in their title, such as Kurt or the elemental warriors on their 4★ evolution This one is only my headcanon, tho-

Other than that, my other headcanon for Culann is that,

4★ Culann is much more expressive with his emotions, while 3★ Culann is much more reserved (This was influenced by my mutual's tweet who points out the difference in fighting style between 3★ Culann and 4★ Culann)

4★ Culann might randomly freeze in place and needed time to regain himself again (This is just me referencing his losing line, which is "What in the world am I?!")

This one is just my own personal HC, but I love to think that Culann have a strong fondness to sweets- And I like to think that this little quirk of his is one of what still remained while he is corrupted by Dark Matter-

Okay tad late (as this month's Coro came out yesterday) but some Oreca Battle report time, with mb alongside some other stuff As per usual, spoilers for some upcoming cards/monsters. Though I think they did shown some of em on twit already?

Main spread+following page. It comes with Wanderer card of Ch1 titular guy that you can cut out from the magazine page itself and use in game

As per usual names tl are more of my own taste, than in-line with official SEA english release (as I can't really access it either)

Chapter 1 seem to be themed around Dragon Palace as its featured Oremon is clearly inspired of turtle from Urashima Taro tale (though it is also has dragon+plesiosaurus in it too) So, 2, 3 and 4 stars of this fella's line! (the 3 one seems to be misprinted in the magazine? as it's lacking said stars indicator)

2 Stars: Acheron (I believe it's from river in Greece of same name? it has connection to Underworld in mythology, and since some variants of Urashima Taro don't state the place he went as Dragon Palace, but as some Otherworld, I guess?)

3 Stars: Archeron (Well, adding "r" for ー is one way to prolong the vowel in otherwise 0 change name)

4 Stars: Guardian Dragon, Archeron EX Move: Breath of Abyss Guardian (for the Wind attribute, at least. Sadly I can't see/make out names of EX Moves for other cards of this line)

The titular guy is named Trito!

2 Stars: Wave Warrior, Trito (clearly from Triton. So both him and his partner pal have Greek myth related names ig) EX Move: Trident of Wave (He pretty much riders it as surfboard...At least in how manga chapter portrayed it. Cute)

3 Stars: Wave Knight, Trito EX Move: Trident of Surge

There's also fella named Jaligator (pebble/ ankle-biter gator heh) and new Demon King, Oloroso (also alco related name) I assume "Ocean Domination" (Turn one of your allies against you for 1 turn) is its EX Move (or just of one of the moves?) name, and for Jaligator it's "Sudden Action" (it re-directs attacks from its allies to itself?) Next month issue will come with Wandered Shirogane card

There's also was poster featuring some new monsters and returning faces for Ch1, alongside Prologue card catalogue! Sadly, the pages resolution aren't that big in digital edition of coro, so I can't make out some kanjis in names here...

You can actually see Oto-Hime Mayori (Or mb Maioli?) in upper left corner. She was mentioned in this month's chapter. As well Gyo, from 1st game, Star 4 evo- Messenger of Dragon Palace, Gyogyo. He served as a bad guy to beat for latest chapter. And was finished by Demon Lord he was serving </3 Because they don't need weaklings

Speaking of. That's a fun-okay design I think? Busker had some eyelashes and this one had long as hell claws/nails <3 But because of that...I kind of unsure about this one's gender? I feel it could go both ways (upd after seeing game clips: bro is a guy) It is dragon again, so it makes me wonder if all Demon Lords of this game gonna be dragons?

I like Trito from what I've seen in this chapter :) He reminds me of Tsunami from IE- (Mecha when there's a funky surfer dude: Hmm getting lots of Tsunami vibes from it) I really adore Acheron also. Absolutely adorable fella. I guess Nagi be teaming up with protags from each chapter for respective arcs? (So I guess each taking about 2-3 months? (so about 3 chapters) Based on how much it takes for game to get new Chapter update) Gren continues to be power-hungry jerk, and Stan just following his lead (he clearly trying to fight the darkness but it ain't going well. Bro got taken underwater to serve new Demon Lord </3 )

On other news, Bird Kazami first W wow (I don't follow BeyX much I am a fake hobbyani fan sorry </3 ) Rewinder continues to be peak and that's all that is matters DueWin enters world tourney arc and it seems??? potential main bad or just a problem??? is musk rat expy??? okay Dai-sensei whatever you say. They also introducing new character to main cast?? named Kaoru. Who looks very "wuh???huh??? I don't really wanna be here but we ball". I like him already, he got some grandma issues

Guys, did you know that Franken has been living rent free in my head ever since he came back in Oreca Battle 2 Chapter 2?? Yeah, it just happen during Livestream, unexpectedly. Do not worry, I still love Anchor.

I actually had a crush on him before the sequel exist, but I never brought it up until now because of how embarrassed I am back then lol

I don't usually post this on my main blog, but I have to! For today, I'll be talking about—

Dr. Franken!

As his title suggest, Franken became a doctor and inherited his creator, Researcher Kais' skills (aka. Doctor) from the first game. This variant doesn't evolved from Franken 4★ but a new evolution branch of Frankenboy 2★, which make sense since he already has a 4★ form (So now we have an attacker-type and a support-type)

Undercut will be about Franken's new animations from OB2 (again, it's just me gushing over him, long text ahead~! 💚)

The first skill that I'll be talking about is Heartful Court (ハートフルコート)

This skill gives a healing-over-time buff to either an ally or yourself.

I can't find an in-game recording of this skill so I'll just link the clip from Yabukara_82 instead

I highly recommend that you watch this clip because the new skills alone just look "romantic." He gives his ally (you) his green coat, leans in to rub your head as if tucking you in, and says, "It'll be all right." that literally made me so flustered that I had to watch it a few times to make sure it was real. I've never seen him this calm before. A real dandy he is.

Yes, Franken already act gentlemanly in the previous game, but mind you his earth variant was WAY MORE aggressive than his Doctor variant (not sure why it's a water type instead of wind?), once he successfully use his EX skills, it's probably over for your team unless you manage to get rid of him quickly. (According to Cedric, he's a great tank).

The second skill is Anesthesia (麻酔)

OUCH! That's gotta hurt!

As this skill's name suggest, he gives anesthesia to his enemy and make them fall asleep (it's a single target attack)

I find it so interesting that he doesn't throw punches anymore now that he's a doctor and rely on surgical/medical skills, heck he even use a Scalpel to attack his enemy!

I really wish I can post mutiple videos instead of Gifs on Tumblr, because I want you guys to hear his voice too...

Third and last skills are Inner Peace (安らぎ) and Surgery (手術)

Now this is where things get scary

I couldn't find in-game recording of Surgery so...here's a clip from つかい (timestamp at 4:07) <- I'll try to update this post once I got in-game version.

At first I was like "Man, his Doctor variant doesn't have any animation that made him scary-" until I saw this clip... he STRAIGHT UP performs a surgery on his enemy.

I might be wrong but if I remember correctly... Inner Peace has a chance to instantly kill his enemy.

While Surgery on the other hand gives the enemy bonus hp BUT...it also paralyzed them for one turn (single target)

Also, can we talk about how EVIL he look on those clip? *chef kiss* it's beautiful, I couldn't stop smiling because of it, it's just perfect.

Finally, his EX skills Moment of Happines (ひとときの幸せを -> 束の間の幸福を)

Very self explanatory, he revived one of his ally, again like I said before, Dr. Franken is a support-type monster.

Arakishu (阿刺吉酒) is an archaic name for shochu from the Edo period. the name is thought to come from "arak", Arabic for "perspiration", which itself is the name for distilled spirits in many Middle Eastern countries.

no, i did not misspell "sandstorm" when writing out the name of Akishu's EX move. "Sandström" (サンドストロム) is a Swedish last name that means "sand stream".

i like the devilish jester design and think it looks very amusing. to me, they talk like a game show host, which i guess kind of matches with how Saqqara and DJ/Ancient Minister Hop also talk very dramatically. at 8:38 Arina says that Mephisto is "different from the other Oremons up until now" but explaining just how is "for next time". kinda interesting that compared to the other Oremons, Mephisto is not an harmless, kind-hearted little mascot. Zenogon and Achelon help others through the goodness in their hearts, but Mephisto doesnt seem to be like that.

now that there are at least three demon kings in OB2, you start to see they have certain things in common:

the alcoholic drinks they are named after are distilled spirits or contain distilled spirits (whiskey, sherry, shochu)

they are dragon people

they all wear the same kind of purple gem on their bodies

i think the purple gems could end up being more relevant in the manga story. the Dark Crystals haven't been shown in color yet, but they could be purple because that's an easy way to show something is evil. and then maybe the purple gems are how the demon kings are able to make Dark Crystals and trap people in them.

So...I was reading the Orega Fire's adventure in the manga because I got bored and...

I HAVE NEVER BEEN SO ROBBED BEFORE

You're telling me that the Oreca Battle could've actually go on a different story if they were to choose the manga's storyline??

We're so robbed...

1. The main character introduction felt more natural

2. The adults can see the monster instead of just the players

3. Orega Fire can kickass?? I wish to see more of that

4.I was not expecting the manga went for a darker turn (I know they're gonna removed the blood in the anime but..holy crap)

5. Maybe I forgot about the anime but I really love that version of Mafuyu's backstory.

6.I adore seeing Nanawaraig's other personality, kinda wish they kept that

7.I know they gonna need a bigger budget for this but man, I wish we can see the other monsters that weren't show in the anime

8.Pazuzu was supposed to be a big threat in this story?? And that Mus became Orega Fire's Ally in the anime too?? Yeah we're totally robbed.

The list can go on and on...

That's how I felt reading the manga for the very first time, it became my favorite manga of the year

GOSH, I FELT- The anime and manga felt so much different, it was so wild- Both have their own uniqueness in their execution for the story, like how the anime is really trying to give the highlights to the protagonists from New Chapters series

First off, I am very much in agreement with how much better the introduction for our battlers are in the manga! Data and Gantetsu didn't just suddenly appear, and also get a highlight of how their personality are like!

Also the dark turn that the manga took, that was actually one of the aspect I like from the manga as well! The shocking card ripping, Fire who actually got hurt from the battle, and even how the adults can see the monsters and the damage of what happened after a battle as well, that put much more stakes in the battles! The anime instead give us the arc where Tanta fall into darkness and betray the team at episode 4 which is... actually pretty shocking and cool as well tbh-

Also, the pacing the manga have with the demon kings' respective arcs was much better as well I especially loved how they let Data fought against Demon King Azul by himself first, it makes much more sense for his character growth! I felt like that moment was stolen by the duel/rivalry between CuChulainn and GeBulg-

Like, friggin dammit man, we could have more time to process the Kazegakure Village arc to give Oroshi much more believable motive for poisoning Nanawarai as well- If only Saqqara's arc didn't hoard that much episodes ksjrgrehrh-

But also, the end arc after all of the Demon Kings finally defeated in the manga... feels a bit uncooked tbh- Even tho Pazuzu being the new threat to the Oreca Boys group is really cool (especially with him disguising himself as a human-), I still feel like the arc with the New Chapters' protagonists feels a bit under-prepared

I can definitely felt the lack of preparation within Rock's chapter the most Like, since the group have defeated both Saqqara and Enma early on, we end up having Gozumezu as the enemy of this chapter Which... kinda funny because Gozu and Mezu should've been defeated along with Enma on chapter 16-

...I end up rambling as well, lmao-

Anyway, the anime did have some pacing issue toward the end, while the only issue with the manga is within the new arc after all of the Demon Kings were defeated Kinda making it feels like the manga was planned to end after defeating Evil Lord Mus-

Ris Gushing About Oreca Battle Various Manga Titles

The desire to make this post started after Mecha have posted their scanlation for the preview of Oreca Battle 2 new manga that will be released in January 2025- /slapped

From what I can see from Mecha's translated preview, it seem like the manga is going to focus much more into the world of Oreca through the eyes of a manga exclusive protag (who seem to also be a monster/denizen of Oreca World!)

In the past Oreca Battle have lots, and I mean LOTS of manga titles with different story focus

I have made a similar post like this one before, in which I gush about each chapters of Posuka-sensei's manga that were released for free on Corocoro few years ago when Beyblade X anime's were announced

But with this opportunity, I want to talk about some stuff about Oreca Battle manga that I was able to read on Corocoro's new website!

(Monster Retsuden - Oreca Battle)

First off, we have Orega Fire's adventure manga which focuses more on the battles and Oreca world's impacting the human world

I love the interactions between the human battlers and their monsters here, it painted and shows more of the monsters personality

In example, how most of the monsters in Fire's team are monsters who some peeps might call the bad end or dark side version of the chapter's protag (Ex: Dark Musketeer Dartan, Hell Gatekeeper's Dante, Dark Dragon Knight Leon)

And explaining Dark Leon's backstory? When in-game we never got any glimpses of Leon's backstory??? God bless this manga, my god-

And Leon's backstory in this manga is diabolical, goddamn-

I also really love how the mangaka draws the monsters interacting with the Oreca Boys' Club, even getting into their antic and banter as well- I thrive for stuff like this wkfhsjfks-

With Ginger Ale's adventure, although it have a monster protag, the focus is more to Ginger Ale's adventure in the human world fighting against the monsters trying to breach into the world of humans while also trying to get his power back as well

For me, being able to glance on the monsters that appears on the new chapters series is such a treat, because you know... what happened with the EN version sjfjsjcjd-

And then there is Monster Adventure manga which delve into some of the monsters backstory and adventures, which gives us insight on how the world of Oreca is like!

I might be biased, but this manga is my most favourite one, because being able to understand each monsters' backstories in more details are what I thrive for-

Especially with monsters like Kurt and Mardok, whose story is not really not explained fully or even told in game-

Like, if you only played the game, you'll never know that Kurt and Dran are actually besties in the past, or that the reason why Mardok become Avadon was actually because of a conflict between Babyloa Kingdom and Mesotania Kingdom-

I love seeing all of these characters in comedic setting so, so much- It gives them more personality and showing a side that you probably could never think of, and I love this manga for that-

For now, who I think will have the highest chance to make a comeback in Chapter 1, is probably Saezar

I mean, Heat did get a 4☆ class change, it would be a shame if the other New Chapters summoners don't get the same chance!

And I hope that will be a pattern moving forward, so we can also get 4☆ iteration for Rantula and Sasuke as well!

On the other side, I'm still hoping Dark Powan from the same popularity contest as Lancelot will make an appearance, but I think she will most likely become an event only monster, like Jeanne in Limbo and Thin Ice Dante was-

Also hoping that Octopascal might make an appearance as a boss monster! I just thought it might be fun to fight against this giant octopus again, but as a boss And their ink attack that inflict darkness? So friggin useful, the octopus need to be in Oreca Battle 2- /slapped

Furthermore, I can't wait to finally see new angel monsters! I just realized that angel-type monsters with the traditional appearance with wings and halo made their first appearance on Chapter 1 (Mardok's type is also angel, but we're not talking about him rn- /slapped)

Either the Oreca team will make an insane pull by bringing Sariel and Uriel back (which I very highly doubt-), or they are going to introduce new angels Either way, I'll take it, because I really like the angels-

Also, very very very unlikely and I highly doubt, but the team would be very insane if they planned to bring back Alucard skjrgrg-

So, I have prediction on how many monsters will shows up for each chapter, with a total of 50 monsters, with 10 hidden for the phases

My prediction, is for chapters other than the Prologue, each phase will have 5 monsters to be introduced

Now we have 3 (or 4?) monsters to be confirmed for Chapter 1 Phase 3 (Oloroso, Trito, and Maioli [and Shappa as well? But I didn't see preview for his 4* evo-]), we still have 2 (or 1?) monsters we have no idea on-

Also, Chapter 2 reveal as well dkcnsjcjd-

I saw his name/title interpreted to be a traveler, and his weapon of choice feels very assassin/ninja like-

It just that, previously on OB1 Chapter 2, the most prominent moves (or atleast what I always encountered at Chapter 2), are mostly monsters that specialize in counter attacks-
