some random thoughts i have coming up from the dlc.

DLC Spoilers [tw for dissociation trauma related topics maybe?]

for a couple of reasons. i think it's totally possible, that P and Carlo, never actually looked completely identical, in reality.

biggest thing, is that P has blue eyes and freckles and carlo did not. but I mean, even past these things.

Remember that geppetto was neglectful, it's also possible that he just didnt remember exactly how he looked like. he also remarks that he thought the Portrait of a boy was lost (implying to me there were no other existing pictures of him at that time). and the carlo at the end of "real boy" is kind of who geppetto expected or wanted back from the dead - not exactly Carlo.

lea also doesn't recognize him right away, and antonia says "for a moment there you looked just like [carlo]" after wearing the uniform and posing for her. For a moment. like he resembled him before but in that moment he was totally identical. then again, antonia's eyesight and probably lea's too is poor at this point (PD). its also been some time for both of them.

rosaura and antonia both say that P "looks like" carlo. "my new friend who looks like my old friend". The gentleman who resembles carlo. I mean, i guess theres no other way to put something like that, but for some reason it seems like an understatement now, if they looked exactly alike. you know what i mean?

we also get a couple of new pictures of carlo . well yes, its in a different style so no-one actually looks exactly the same as their in-game models (its just stylized a different way.) but it still makes me wonder.

the painting we find in base game however, is very identical to P, just without the freckles and eye colour. but that was also "taken" when he was so young. also, the same person can look so different even only because of time of day, lighting. so maybe its not true and not even remotely intended.

but its just some thoughts im having. and the idea is so fascinating to me, because. the thought that carlo never actually looked like P all that much to begin with is kind of painful. but its kind of sad and true, that your memories can change. that the truth might not be what you thought it was.

Objectively 'post Carlo's death but pre-Romeo becoming King of Puppets' is the MOST unhinged period they could have picked for the DLC. Both for the story and for Promeo/Carmeo shippers specifically.
