fwiw and i have no idea what the artists are doing with it, a lot of the libraries that researchers are currently using to develop deep learning models from scratch are all open source built upon python, i'm sure monsanto has its own proprietary models hand crafted to make life as shitty as possible in the name of profit, but for research there's a lot of available resources library and dataset wise in related fields. It's not my area per se but i've learnt enough to get by in potentially applying it to my field within science, and largely the bottleneck in research is that the servers and graphics cards you need to train your models at a reasonable pace are of a size you can usually only get from google or amazon or facebook (although some rich asshole private universities from the US can actually afford the cost of the kind of server you need. The possibilities for science are enormous. Gigantic. Much of modern science is based on handling huge amounts of data no human can process at once. Specially trained models can be key to things such as complex genetics, especially simulating proteomes. They already have been used there to incredible effect, but custom models are hard to make, I think AIs that can be reconfigured to particular cases might change things in a lot of fields forever.
I am concerned, however, of the overconsumption of electronics this might lead to when everyone wants their pet ChatGPT on their PC, but this isn't a thing that started with AI, electronic waste and planned obsolescence is already wasting countless resources in chips just to feed fashion items like iphones, this is a matter of consumption and making computers be more modular and longer lasting as the tools they are. I've also read that models recently developed in China consume much, much less resources and could potentially be available in common desktop computers, things might change as quickly as in 2 years.

Who is an "AI" PC for exactly?
When I think it through, the only answer I can come up with is "people who don't know how to use a computer at all who think they need more than an iPad to do their job." Like people who need a "real computer" but still can't be bothered to know anything about how files or directories work.
There are a lot of people out there in the workforce who aren't necessarily technically minded, but they still need to get some shit done. They're never going to devote the time to learn anything deep, so maybe this would help them? A computer that can answer you when you say "uh... what the fuck happened to that thing I was working on yesterday?"
I think a lot about what Microsoft announced sounds extremely dangerous, but having seen a lot of people over the years fight their work laptop because they have no idea what they're doing... I can't necessarily disagree with the idea of making things easier to use.

HI HI... it's Leolithe here! FINALLY INTERACTING. I see you in the notes of my Lotus posts and i am DEATHLY curious to know your opinions on the Lotus system! Both as characters in general and also what you'd love and/or hate to see in their story. The idea of a Sentient AI mimic who is a system is so incredible to me, but I wonder if there's anything about Natah, Lotus or Margulis you would change?
Also, how many of you have played Warframe? Has everyone tried it or is it just not everyone's cup of tea? Should I direct my questions to specific people in the system? I'd love to hear more Lotus thoughts!! :3

Now, to answer your questions. I'll start with the last ones.
We've all played Warframe, and each have found something to enjoy in it.
We used to play it on the Switch, long before we found out we're we. Eventually stopped for reasons I can't remember. Probably because it was Warframe on the Switch. Lmao.
Recently ported our account to PC, which has been nice. Caught up on everything, so now we're just taking turns making frames and enjoying the loop. Learning how to mod. Deep in the grind. Ignoring rivens cause they scare us. The usual, I'm sure. Lmao.
Asking specific members for their opinions is fine. Just will take longer to get answered. Unless you're lucky. We can't really control who fronts, unfortunately. But you can still do it, if you're curious about one of us. They'll definitely appreciate the attention. Probably. Lmao.
On the Lotus, we absolutely love her. Love all three of them.
Zero loves Lotus and Natah the most. She's an AI, so she relates to their struggles, but we are all enamored with them.
Marguils' resolve, Natah's tenacity, Lotus' deducation. Their histories with Ballas. Their histories with the Orokin in general. Their histories with eachother. With Marguils' memory, her legacy, before she came back. Their love for the Tenno. Their children. Their dedication to protecting the origin system.
All three are amazing. Their plurality is very interesting, originally being a synthetic mimic with two different sets of memories in them. Eventually culminating in three different entities in one. It's unique and engaging.
Our favorite characters in Warframe, to be sure. They're amazing.
We'd love to seem their plurality be more noticable, in the future. We're all in on them being plural, but it is admittedly easy to miss. A line of dialogue unheard, a helmet left uninteracted, a line of text left unread, and you're probably not gonna know they're plural. We want them to start bickering during a mission. We want Lotus to be explaining something, ony the go silent for a time, then for Natah or Marguils to take over. We want some way to talk to them outside of missions, for character moments.
I don't know how likely any of these will be, personally. But we'd like to see them.
That's also what we'd change, honestly. The inability to change between the three was annoying, so we'd remove that from The New War. Or add a fourth option of "take turns". We want to see them interact. We want a blatenly in-your-face system.
We'd hate for Natah and Marguils to be forgotten, eventaully. For Lotus to be considered the default. For some convoluted story beat to fuse them all into one mind, as is annoyingly common in system stories. Since that's the only good end singlets can imagine for a system. Natah and Marguils getting forgotten would be disappointing and annoying, but if they all fused into one we'd probably drop Warframe immediately.

I'm starting to wonder if the reason so many companies are investing in AI is because they are fully aware the enshittification of the internet has completely driven away most younger demographics from even touching a proper computer, not to mention how painfully expensive a decent PC, or hell even a laptop, is nowadays. So many children grow up only knowing a phone screen that they just don't know how to use a keyboard properly. They won't be able to learn how to navigate a file directory or format a spreadsheet without having to undo years upon years of wasted time that they were made to spend having garbage shoveled onto their screens. I still remember being taught how to speed-type and use keyboard shortcuts back in elementary school! And yeah, I was incredibly privileged to have been raised in a middle class area, but I still fully believe that EVERYONE should have access to that sort of education! With how much of our world is reliant on advancing technology, computer literacy should be a fucking mandatory skill to teach!
But that's would require the people who enshittified the systems we rely on to both acknowledge they did all this deliberately and to make a quick buck, and to fix it. They will of course do neither, and this is why they lean so hard into AI. They fully believe that AI will advance enough to replace everything a human could possibly need to do to ensure the internet stays in working order. They are completely wrong. AI still cannot differentiate between truth and fiction at a basic level. AI still cannot properly identify any face that is not white. AI still cannot write functional code for the prompt it is specifically given. AI is nowhere near advanced enough to accomplish those tasks, but major corporations continue to invest because if the gamble pays off, they don't have to hire anyone to do software work ever again. They never acknowledge that because of their own investments and enshittification, they are guaranteeing that when their gamble fails, they have fucked themselves on keeping anything functional once the ones currently handling the daily maintenance are dead.
This was really long and rambling but my point is: Become tech literate. Learn how to navigate a file manager. Learn how to access specific important files that might be stored away so deep that anything outside of a console query can't find them. Learn how to read the system diagnostics in the Command Prompt panel of your system. Learn how to make your technology work for you instead of just allowing it to do what it pleases and force you to go along with it. Learn to use a proper computer and how all the parts function on a basic level. Learn how to effectively use the search function on browser. And PLEASE stop using any kind of generative AI. Don't use it for school, for art, for inspiration, for data scraping, for therapy, for talking to the blorbos. Just don't use it.
