The one thing we dont talk about enough is why Jake likes school and/or doing homework

If my memories serves me right, Jake was a make-a-wish kid due to him being diagnosed with stage four cancer. He was about 9-years-old when he died (which was somewhere 8 months ago) and continues to be as of currently since he mentioned it recently in this ep

(I actually dont know his bday... Did he ever celebrate it before or after he died? Did he even get to celebrate it)

Puppet said (in this ep) that Jake has had a brain tumor since he was 6-years-old and died at 9 aka his age now. (At least, book-wise, he had.)

So imagine just being in Jake's shoes.

Your mom is dead when youre about 5-years-old, then you get diagnosed with a life changing disease a while after your 6th bday, and then you finally cant feel the pain anymore when youre 9-years-old. No wonder Jake likes—maybe even loves—the idea of school since he wasnt given a normal childhood; he wasnt like the others kids. No, he was severely sick. (perhaps he envies how Andy, Andrew, and Charlie at least got some education? Does FC count in this section)

So no, Jake isnt the "golden child" (albeit he does give off the energy of being so, maybe even the "favorite child"—dont tell Andrew and Andy I said that...). Hes the child who is trying to be a kid again—to experience what he never got to; to stop being so strong and finally catch his breath, something that even felt like a chore.

So every single goddamn time Jake is mentioned to like school and/or doing homework, my heartstrings are VIOLENTLY pulled at.

If the writers decide to give Jake a fear of hospitals (nosocomephobia) or at least just doesnt like the idea of going back to a hospital or literally fearful of anything medical related since hes afraid he'll have to stay there again for years and longer.... oh my heart would NOT be able to take that.

This is the man who invests in new jobs and better infrastructure, because he understands that rebuilding communities is crucial to helping the people of Gotham. He understands that the poor aren’t lazy or criminal but instead being taken advantage of by a system that doesn’t care about them, so he uses his wealth and resources to help his city, not caring what profit he makes, because it’s about helping people. It’s always about how much he cares for humanity. He sees light in people, even misguided ones. He believes no one is ever past redemption. Batman doesn’t exist to punish, enforce, or frighten — he exists to help and redeem and persevere in his quest to find goodness in the world and other people.

Honestly, I'd love to write a respectful retelling of the Hermes and Crocus myth someday, as well as the Hyacinthus and Apollo one. Those myths just connect strongly with me, personally, for some reason, and I have a deep love for them. The thing that often stops me is the overall negative perception of retellings in the HelPol community. Some people get rabid over them. ☠️ I fear nothing I write, regardless of how meticulously I try to write it, would ever be good enough for the wider community, and I'm sure I'm not the only writer in HelPol who avoids writing retellings due to this. I would do my best to be respectful to the original culture, and yet, still, it likely would never be enough. I'm kinda just complaining lol, but I feel like people hate these sorts of things so viscerally within the community that even when a retelling has a genuinely interesting story to tell (Hadestown, as an example), they will not only ignore it but will actively despise it. It's discouraging. It stops actual worshippers from creating myth-based retellings, and in my opinion, that's a problem. Many people are upset that worshippers don't create retellings, then create an incredibly hostile space for such things to be created. If you want more content about the gods from worshippers, create a space that welcomes such things. This isn't to say feedback shouldn't be welcome; it's just to say that hating all retellings with such a fierce passion also prevents retellings from actual worshippers being written.

I love Matt Damon and the Bourne franchise (or at least the original trilogy), so I watched this movie long before I was obsessed with Daniel or maybe even knew of him. In rewatching it, I initially thought what a shame it was he didn't get a bigger role, but then I realized they couldn't have picked someone better to convey a spectrum of emotions in such a short window. I mean, just look at him holding back tears.

The way there's no promise of permanance from either side. Alfred could decide he's done with them and quit. The Waynes could tire of him and fire him. Both sides are replacable. They could leave each others' lives in an instant with no trace but a broken contract and an employment history

The rest of the world wouldn't even know

The Waynes can leave their marks on and in him, leave him sore, leave bruises on his hips and hope they take their time fading

They have his consent, enthusiastically even, but they have to just trust that he isn't doing this only out of a sense of duty. They just have to hope they can prove to him just how much they want him, how much they love him, and hope he feels the same
