The one thing we dont talk about enough is why Jake likes school and/or doing homework

(I WILL be yapping under cut since this makes me sad :c —correct me if im wrong btw; my memory is horrible so Im rewatching eps)

If my memories serves me right, Jake was a make-a-wish kid due to him being diagnosed with stage four cancer. He was about 9-years-old when he died (which was somewhere 8 months ago) and continues to be as of currently since he mentioned it recently in this ep

(I actually dont know his bday... Did he ever celebrate it before or after he died? Did he even get to celebrate it)

Puppet said (in this ep) that Jake has had a brain tumor since he was 6-years-old and died at 9 aka his age now. (At least, book-wise, he had.)

So imagine just being in Jake's shoes.

Your mom is dead when youre about 5-years-old, then you get diagnosed with a life changing disease a while after your 6th bday, and then you finally cant feel the pain anymore when youre 9-years-old. No wonder Jake likes—maybe even loves—the idea of school since he wasnt given a normal childhood; he wasnt like the others kids. No, he was severely sick. (perhaps he envies how Andy, Andrew, and Charlie at least got some education? Does FC count in this section)

So no, Jake isnt the "golden child" (albeit he does give off the energy of being so, maybe even the "favorite child"—dont tell Andrew and Andy I said that...). Hes the child who is trying to be a kid again—to experience what he never got to; to stop being so strong and finally catch his breath, something that even felt like a chore.

So every single goddamn time Jake is mentioned to like school and/or doing homework, my heartstrings are VIOLENTLY pulled at.

If the writers decide to give Jake a fear of hospitals (nosocomephobia) or at least just doesnt like the idea of going back to a hospital or literally fearful of anything medical related since hes afraid he'll have to stay there again for years and longer.... oh my heart would NOT be able to take that.

Bruce, walking around the Manor: Hm... I hear suspiciously familiar voices

Bruce, pressing his ear to the door:

Jason, voice muffled: Yeah, well, let's say I kill sometimes in Gotham. But that's gotta be done, you know? This city is not going to help itself.

Ghostmaker: Listen, kid, I understand. Better than anyone. Do your thing.

Jason: Thank you, thank you! It just still hurts a little bit! I mean, come on, guys, we are family. There is no way you can't see the truth, and even if you do, you still threaten me to send me in Arkham or anywhere worse.

Ghostmaker, rolling his eyes: Oh, ignore them. Had I told you, once Bruce and I fought over exactly the same thing. He pissed me off, so I was knocking him down... He wakes up, I am over him, patching him up. And he goes, like, Khoa? Where are we? And I am shrugging, like... We are in Arkham because, Bruce, honey. I love you, but that's the likely place for you to end up in. Have fun.

Jason, in awe: Really? He never told us that.

Ghostmaker: Well, that's little bat for you...

Bruce, paling gradually: No. No. No.

(Minutes later, in Batcave)

Bruce: Okay, who decided to introduce Jason and Khoa to each other? I am not mad. I just need to know this.

Dick, nervous: Uh, it was me. Let's say, it was me, and I am—

Bruce: It wasn't you. Don't even try.

Bruce, stares at Tim: Timothy?

Tim, rolling his eyes: Nah. If it was me, I would be proud. I would tell everyone I did this.

Tim: But, hey, Damian was the last one who spoke with them.

Damian: Naturally. Excluding father and Cain, they are the only two people who knew my family.

Tim: I am saying...

Damian: Keep your mouth shut—

Bickering sound: intensifies

Alfred, staring in invisible camera, in the other room: I did that. I did that, and I am having my fun.

my honest reaction to Jean breaking down after saying out loud, for the first time in his life, that he didn't deserve what he went through

GOD. this scene. I just need to talk about this scene.

Chi Cheng takes a drunk Suo Wei to his home, not suo wei's room at the clinic, but his own personal sanctuary. He clearly wanted to spend the night with SW, not to sleep with him, but just to take care of him. He's so gentle with SW, taking off his shoes, kneeling down and talking so softly, asking if he's okay, if he's drunk.

and suo wei, even though he's quite drunk, isn't completely unaware of what's happening. he sees what chi cheng is doing for him, sees the care in his eyes and the gentleness of his actions, and he asks an honest, vulnerable question, "why are you so nice to me?" because for all his rough moods and brash manners and biting words, chi cheng has been nothing but nice to him till now, in so many ways.

and this time, when all his walls are lowered, and his guards aren't up anymore, suo wei's subconscious, his heart, that has already caught upto what his logical side isn't prepared to acknowledge yet- gives in. he grabs chi cheng by the front of his shirt and he initiates the kiss-

well, almost a kiss.... because of course, yue yue, with her perfectly infuriating timing, interrupts with a call.

when the call ends, chi cheng comes back to inform him that yue yue, his girlfriend, is coming over, and doesn't elaborate more. but suo wei gets the silent message- he needs to disappear before that happens. and the look that suo wei gives chi cheng is devastating.

that subtle mix of longing and betrayal, laced with anger and frustration and hurt- because while suo wei is mad at chi cheng, at this whole messy circumstance, he is mad at himself too- because just for once, he'd let himself be vulnerable, let himself indulge in this little moment. For just once, he thought he had chi cheng all for himself. and that's why the rude awakening hurts for him even more. (props to zi yu for nailing the heck out of this scene, this single look hit me like a punch to the gut)

he gets up to leave and chi cheng's face here. god. he knows he has hurt suo wei badly, even though suo wei never protests, never says a single word to stake his claim.

so he grabs suo wei for one last hug, before they have to part ways, and he says "I'll surely pay back, what I owe you."

and that's such an interesting choice of words, because he isn't talking about any monetary exchanges at all (because up until now, it was he who paid suo wei those absurd sums of money as part of their little games, gifted a shit ton of stuff to SW just to make him smile), but no. he's talking about the emotional debt that he owes- the debt of gratitude and respect and time that he owes suo wei- for all the times when his hands were tied by his family's expectations and he has had to blow off and sideline suo wei in favor of being at his girlfriend's side, at her beck and call.

and suo wei understands him, even if he's still hurting from it- from being cast aside yet again, being reminded that his and chi cheng's relationship- whatever convoluted, messy thing had grown between them over weeks- their feelings and emotions, was something to be hidden, something that will never be approved by chi cheng's family.

and then he leaves- still inebriated, stumbling in his steps, hurting and all alone, late in the night. and what's worse, chi cheng watches him leave, and for once, he's powerless to stop it.

this last shot of chi cheng is equally devastating, because he's framed behind the blinds of the window like the bars of a cage- and the metaphor is clear, that no matter how much chi cheng schemes and plans, he's still bound by his family's power, who are manipulating him at every step of the way, to get him to behave exactly how they want.

chi cheng was powerless to choose the boy he loved that night, and it was incredible to see the fallout of something seemingly so little and ordinary on the surface gut us all like a knife wound 😭

Something that makes manipulative Will Graham so good, in my opinion, is that it's nothing like Hannibal's manipulativeness.

His manipulation technique is completely different, making it clear that this isn't something he took from Hannibal.

And what is his manipulation? Emotional. Hannibal focuses on psychological manipulation the most - messing with people's heads. But Will? Will pierces their hearts.

When he was crying to Alana and Hannibal asking for their help? That was him manipulating their emotions and their want for his friendship and trust. When he was trying to catch Hannibal he seduced him. He even does it with Matthew. He knows Matthew is interested in him so he plays into that and uses Matthew's crush to get him to kill someone.

Will is primarily an emotional manipulator and I love that for him.

I thought Leo was a one off asshole but Fraser's behavior really convinced me that Jeremy uses sex as self-harm. He drinks even though Jeremy needs a ride back to the hotel, but Jeremy still stays even though he could get in trouble. He is disrespectful to Jeremy before hand which is can be taken a dirty talk, but then he also insults Jean.

Jeremy stays regardless. He's not looking for a positive experience. He's purposefully putting himself in risky situations as punishment.
